Its nice to see a fathers point of view. My Son is on the Spectrum . It started around two years of age. Ive been raising him since he was three years old (9 now ) As a single parent. I remember the nights I would rock him to sleep. I would tear up ( cry ) at times thinking how it would be nice to just hear my Sons voice. He would stare at me and touch my face. He wouldnt talk verbally but his eyes knew what to say. I'd talk to him while he slept and he'd smile. Raising my Autistic Son is a Blessing. I wouldnt change a thing. Hes had my full attention and its made a difference. My son isnt on meds , is in regular classes, talks really well, comprehension is awesome, A/B Honor Roll, has friends and is The Light of My Life. Much Respect To All The Parents out there.

I will be the first father in the comments to say that.... I F@#$%* up!
My stepson is on the spectrum and I must say that there is so much that I wish I knew brfore the fact of knowing he had autism. I really F'ed up for years. I have apologized and am more aware of his needs and emotions now. It's hard as hell and I wish many more fathers had the information and guidance to approach the situations correctly. It's a real struggle. Men need to talk more amongst each other for solutions. It can even damage marriages if not treated properly.
Be strong parents. BE STRONG MEN.

My 3 yr old grandson is autistic. His father is not in the picture at all, which is good bc he was very abusive to my daughter. I am the man in my grandson's life. I absolutely love my grandson, he is my world. It doesn't bother me that he's autistic, it helps explain a lot of his characteristics. I love him for who he is and how he is. Unfortunately, I hardly get to see him due to my daughter lives in another state with him and bc of covid it has made seeing them almost impossible.

This is well done, these Fathers do not hide the difficulties, or their fears, and they also really show the love too. Often Fathers of Autistic children are left out of many conversations, as if they are detached or unable to speak about their kids. This film knocks all that on its head. When the Australian Autism Strategy info came out, there was a picture of a Mum and a little child, but no Fathers to be seen. That was insensitive and wrong, and this film makes that 'missing, uncaring, or uninvolved Dad' stereotype so over-hyped and misleading. Someone should bring these Dads together and let them talk to each other, and let all Australian Dads learn from and appreciate that meet up.

One of the best videos made, regarding parents of those with special needs. We hear sooo much from moms of those with autism. It is wonderful to hear how dads handle it, what they find the most challenging, the most memorable/proud milestones, how important their partner is to them in all this, and just seeing them so invested and so involved. I hope these videos continue to be made. They are very insightful and just plain awesome to see how proud and in love they are with their child with special needs. Every one of them light up when they speak about seeing their child happy, and I think that’s all we want for our kids- to know they will be ok and they are happy individuals.

I clicked on this video thinking it was about autistic fathers not fathers with autistic children, but it was still interesting. I never asked my dad what it was like for him when I got the diagnosis, because I was already an adult when it happened...I think it put some behaviour of his dad (which I suspect was probably autistic as well) in perspective.
it'S kinda fun to see that several dads are working in highly specialised jobs and stuff like IT...which have a higher rate of autistic people compared to the general population . wouldn't be surprised if some of the dads weren't somewhere on the spectrum as well.

After watching many videos and documentaries on autism, I found the ones by Dr. Temple Grandin (who has autism herself), to be very informational and a great resource for families dealing with autism. Dr. Grandin helps give hope to many families and children. I can't say enough about her. I wish the best for all of you.

My daughter is a single mother, we have been having my grandson evaluated and tested over the last year for Autism. It was confirmed two weeks ago that my grandson is Autistic. It has been challenging at times for my daughter and for me. We are trying to learn as much as we can, watch a lot of videos, and research as much as we can. I find that so many things he does or the way his brain works is very interesting and fascinating. I am also having to practice a lot of patience with my grandson as to sometimes he wants to be around me and sometimes he wants nothing to do with me. The hardest part is wondering how his relationship with me will be as he grows up.

Great video. Gives hope. I’m a year in after my son got diagnosed aged 12. Not yet really feeling we are making much progress with it all. But trying to hold it together and stick with it.

Great Job on this and great to see some dads come forward and speak. There is a lack of info and support for Dads out there that needs to be addressed if we really want to succeed.

I'm just learning about autism. We have 3 year old on the spectrum. I was nervous at 1st. Scared for the results. Now after watching videos. I'm so excited for this journey. I know anything's possible. Especially for the most important thing in the world.. a child. Good luck to us all. We got this my friends. Have a wonderful day all you wonderful adults and children. And remember. When life gives you a break. Rest in music. A feeling your heart and soul will thank you for every time

Thank you for making this we have 2 autistic kids hear and their dad a homebody and like to keep to himself and that ok and I wouldn't change that for anything. But people forget it so different for dad's when it comes to autistic children. Yes, mum normal have a more community face role but dad are behind the scenes. I told my partner about this not expecting him to be interested in watching it but I put on just because I want to watch and he decides he was interested too and he got a lot out of it and a lot he could related too
