    We picked up a cheap X5 with the M54 engine because it broke down driving, fat white clouds of smoke and misfiring bad. Replaced spark plugs and it runs well again but still white clouds of smoke, had to confirm my suspicion and found this video... So now we might have scored a super cheap X5 with an easy fix :)

      @@IWTBF I had rough idle, shifting issues, poor acceleration at times and a lot of white smoke coming out of the tailpipe at various times (mainly on acceleration).
      I replaced the CCV valve, leaking valve cover gasket, and leaking actuator gasket on the side of the valve cover.
      It now runs perfectly and has none of the issues I listed above.
      Whew: About 12 hours of work including finding the vacuum leak from a poor seal with the actuator on the side of the valve cover. I built a smoke machine from a source on the web to find the leak. I used rtv sealant in addition to the gasket for the actuator and the problem was solved.
      Next time, I should be able to to the job in about four hours.

    great vid to be honest! experiencing rough idle and oil consumption (oil leak towards to return pipe located downside/oil pan hose) plus running rough on the ZF6hp on my e92 320i N46 engine. at first I tought gaskets for the oil leak and throttle body/MAP/MAF sensors for the idling but now i'm starting to think its the CCV system.
    Question what is the PCV valve in the CCV system ? Thanks

    • @aimized1460
      @aimized1460 2 года назад +2

      There 2 separate components my man. PCV is positive crank pressure and the CCV is Crank Case Ventilation. So you see one keeps pressure while the other vents. CCV is located under your manifold while the PCV is built into your valve. The CCV acts as a PCV. It's confusing because they're both crankcase vents, but the CCV elbow has a small orifice and has manifold vacuum going to it. Where as the crankcase vent is plumbed to the air cleaner assembly and has a much larger opening.

      Yes its another symptom, i had the same as you - oiled spark plugs. I replaced the cover (i have the n52n with pcv in valve cover...), new gasket and i left all the spark tubes the same and it still fixed it regardless.

      Oil on spark plugs is most likely from a valve cover gasket leak, not pvc.

      Yep whistling whining sound is the pcv valve it’s integrated into the valve cover it has gaskets and a spring inside the valve. Sadly you would need to replace the whole valve cover oem costs $400+. Crazy how it’s a common failure and they still leave it like that we already know what they doing $$$

    Thanks for this and all of your other videos. Question: My car is leaking a lot of oil overnight when it's parked (at least 1/4 -1/2 quart). the is collecting more on the passenger side. I checked it yesterday and it looks like the transmission pan gasket mybe leaking, but that seems way too aggressive, as it did not release any oil while I was troubleshooting. My impression is that the oil on the pan was collected downstream while driving. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This just started happening. Thank you

Hope that helps. Oil level sensor is always good to check on to make sure it's accurate. You have to drain the oil of course so wait when you get closer to an oil change.

    Hey Ive recently had a DISA fail basically fell apart and shat itself into my intakes.....anyway ive noticed that everything was coated in oil inside. From my knowledge all of the CCV crap is just for emissions. Im tempted to plug the intake so no crankcase vapour can get into them and fill it with oil and cause DISA failure again and will most likely improve performance as their will be no hot crankcase smog going into engine. My Question is will there be an issue with less negative crankcase pressure due to no sucking effect from the intake. And also will I even be able to run it like that or will it shit loads of codes at me? I think im going to run one Catch can straight from CCV so ill keep CCV to drain oil back to sump but the rest will go to catch can then to atmosphere.

    • @laszu7137
      @laszu7137 11 месяцев назад
