LR Baggs Acoustic Guitar Pedalboard Demo • LR Baggs Acoustic Guit...
I too have the LR Baggs Acoustic DI Session and its the best pedal Ive bought period, It goes to every acoustic gig i attend and gives you a crystal clear and professional acoustic sound!!!
Hey Chloe. Is the session better than the venue? Or would you say the venue is better? :)
Thanks I bought and built this exact set up...I'm loving it
this is so inspiring. this’ll be my next pedalboard project.
I find that the LR Baggs Venue is all you need
i really love the sound of the guitar and all pedals
Lovely. Need more acoustic board demos like this one. Cool set up. Gives me some ideas. Just added the Anthem to my guitars. Great pickup. Love Neunaber and LRB stuff too, so this is really helpful.
I will consider doing more then!
Beautiful pedalboard!!! Even more beautiful sounds!!! I might have to copy some of this!!!
This thing sound so natural mate, thanks for sharing, nice job
Thanks for watching!
Bro I’m a worshiper i like to copy this set up wow love the strumming. God bless. Thanks brother
Go for it!
I dig your approach going through the loop on the Venue through the Session. Cool idea!
I didn't care for the way it sounded when you added the smaller LR Baggs. But I did like when you added the delay.
That delay pedal sounds heavenly. Love your setup!
Thanks!
I'm new to the Acoustic Guitar World, and have been trying to figure out what sounds and configurations could be beneficial. This one is pretty sweet as it's very compact and portable. Cool that!
Great set up Curtis sounds real nice
I'm envious of your guitar
Thank you very much Kent.. i love your setup..
You are very welcome
Great set up. Very helpful to me. It does sound a bit lacking in bass?
Amazing Sound
Sounds fab!
Nice set up.
Love that shimmer!
Is the sound coming through an Acoustic guitar amp, PA or is it just going to an audio interface??
Can u make a list each pedal u use... I think ur stuff its pretty awesome... That sound so clean
inspiring setup...thanks for the share...! question though....why are you using the effect loop in the venue...? in this config wouldnt it also make sense just putting everything in series..?
Extremely fine demo . . just need (more) info on the different pedals
Great video I'm sure .... for people who already know what they're doing.
Sounds great!
Curious what kind of pedal board that you use.......really like your setup. Going to get a Venue for my D-28 CW with a Baggs Lyric.
Man, this is a beautiful acoustic pedalboard! I really love how it sounds and even looks. ;) Good job there. I am just building my own acoustic rig and this video was pretty good motivation for me. Thanks. ;) Greetings from Czech Republic.
Glad you like it! thanks
Uuuggg….Quack Quack
❤🔥
I’ve used a Radial Tone Bone PZ Pre for around 8 years, sold it twice and tried other Pre’s, then dumped them about bout the PZ again (Now the PZ Pro is out...yikes.) I tried the setup like you, touting to the Session end of the chain..just to noisy. Maybe didn’t play well with the PZ Pre?
wow man. are you micing up the guitar here tho? Acoustics always sound super when miced.
If not, awesome as that plugged in tone is amazing. Hard to get a plugged in tone sound great on acoustic
man great video, i have the venue , but i have like 5 guitar effects, does it matter the amount of effect on the send and return?
Incredibly bright sound. What are you playing, sound system setup?
Nice. Anything you can do to make an acoustic solo act more interesting right?
What acoustic pickup are you using? Sounds so natural!😊
Sounds bright.....good highs.....and mid. What amp are we hearing?
One question please about lr baggs para acoustic di . I heard that the one that says made in usa which is older has a better EQ response than the one that says california, if anyone has both and has compared them, have you noticed any difference between the two in terms of sound quality? and equalizer .it would be very important reply from you thank you very much.
Hey! You said XLR goes to PA. Can it go to an amp also?
Curtis if you were to incorporate a looper. Where in the chain would it sit. I have pretty much the same pedals but I also have a POG octave pedal an a looper. Appreciate your help here 😄 Also may I ask on your session DI what is your high pass filter set to. Would 80hz roll off be correct.
have you gotten a chance to try out a Grace design Bix? I did and it made me want to throw my LR Baggs Paracoustic DI box into a fire.
But what is the point of reverb and delay if the output from session DI is mono output especially for solo performance..
What size pedal board is that?
Hey Curtis, why does one generally a Venue DI and a Session DI? Doesn't one do the job, too?
coltrane2323 because session has saturation knob which venue doesn’t have
What guitar is he using here?Edit, heard at the end what guitar is used.
Hi, just to check that using 2 DI will give the option of muting all the effects at once? Thanks!
Please elaborate on your Venue going into your session and not vice versa. I own the session and was considering getting the align eq. I was going to put my effects on my amps effects loop however the session and eq to the front of the amp. Thoughts? Thanks
Can I use the session DI with other pedals ? For example if I had an overdrive, a delay and the session DI, what would be my signal path?
what are your thoughts on running the venue into the session into the timeline then verb pedal? I just wonder about the saturation before effects for a fuller tone
Não entendi nada
That would make a sweet bachata rig.
indeed
I've kinda been a raw acoustic sound kind of guy. It's my favorite sound but after hearing what you got going on I need your setup! Maybe not the delay. But I play worship for my youth group and I'm the only vocal and instrument and that reverb/shimmer pedal would be awesome to have! Also I've been looking for a preamp because my sound guy says he has me up as loud as I can go and I kinda don't believe it but if I'm getting a low signal I'll want to get a preamp to boost that signal. Now I'm going to go look them up and probably by astonish at the prices but great video man and great sound!
If you really like the shimmer you might want to try going with the electro harmonics canyon they’re only about 140 bucks that’s the most beautiful out of the box setting ever and all the other delays in modulations and it has a looper best $140 on the market
The Canyon does sound great. I can vouch for the shimmer on the TC Hall of Fame 2 as I use that one. Doesn't have delays or looping, just reverb.
You secretly want to play a lespaul on a crunchy amp
As an acoustic guitarist, I think about this comment a lot and it makes me crack up
He’s one bad acoustic gig away from the Les Paul/Marshall combo. I can smell it in the air. Lol funny call🤣🤣🤣🤘🏻
One of the first comments where I actually laughed out loud!
What made you go with the session di over the align series session pedal?
Hi, I have a similar set up but with the addition of Origin effects Compressor. Where should I put the compressor in the chain?
What is the size of the pedalboard case?
Have you ever tried running the venue last? Most of the time I compress before I eq and add effects. Just wondering what your thoughts on that are. I have the anthem and the session. Considering getting the venue for eq and effects loop.
Ben Harris I run session into the venue. It sounds better.
Baek Lee In this video is the effects in mono?
I think it all runs into the venue last
Hi Curtis! Great sound and setup. Can you PLEASE help me understand why you are taking the signal from the reverb back to the Venue before you route it to the session? Your path is Venue-delay-reverb-venue again- session. Why wouldnt you skip looping the venue and just go Venue-delay-reverb-session?
I'm pretty new at this and just trying to figure it out for my own setup. Thanks for the help!
I'm not an expert. I believe this would help to keep the volume, gain and boost settings on the main preamp section from overdriving the pedals in the effects loop. If these pedals were fuzz or distortion you are good to not use an effects loop like you mentioned. But for these reverb and delay you get better clarity of the effect by using the effects loop.
@@AnimusLucida thank you for responding, David. I've been waiting for a week to get a response from someone about this. It's not information that is readily available. Thanks again!
@@john15333 You're welcome! It really is NOT readily available. I figured things out from mainly reading the manuals, watching reviews on youtube, reading reviews and ultimately buying and re-selling things that I didn't end up liking or working the way I hoped they would work. I have several years working in tech support so some troubleshooting experience and a lot of time reading manuals has been helpful to me. Also, there are some fairly informative articles on sweetwater about various topics.
Understanding effects is truly rooted in electronics. So, if you are looking to understand more about effects you have to look to the builders and DIY people NOT the players. There are some great indie pedal builders out there. (Kingsley, Coda Effects, Effectrode, Hungry Robot come to mind- but there are many) I have read a lot on amplifier forums, people who build amps themselves, people who build pedals themselves and modify existing pedal circuits. That's where you'll find more concrete information. If you're looking to players they will shrug their shoulders and tell you that they do what sounds good to them. There is some really in depth stuff out there. The basic understanding is that each effect is just a circuit, and that circuits can be modified and re-created by 3rd parties.
@@AnimusLucida That's very informative and I really appreciate it. I even reached out LR Baggs and couldn't understand the answer they gave me. It basically said that it was a "tricky" subject and depended on your guitar pickup and pedals used. Pedals are a new world for me and I just want to understand. I'll read some manuals going forward! Thanks again.
Prá que isso tudo?
Venue or tonewood?
Great vid, thank you. Question: I already have the LR baggs venue and was thinking of adding in the Align series session (which has the compression and saturation but not a DI).. would this get the same result? Any reason why I should consider the session DI over it ?
Dave great question. I have not used the align series Session Di. I think the results should be the same though. The align session was not released yet when I made this video. But would love to try it. let me know what you decide.
@@KentToneworksive got all 3 between my personal board and a church board i setup. I have the di on my personal board but run the the align session inline after the tuner and before the venue then the loop for any mod/wet fx. It works just like my session di. I’d argue better when u consider the comp is first in the gain structure with the align as it should be vs last on the di. Id much rather have the loop so my signal wasn’t getting compressed after the wet effects. Unfortunately in the case of the di it has to be last to take advantage of the balanced out.
What’s the dimension of your board ?
I think I know the answer - would you add a "looper" as the last effect in the Venue "send/return" loop if you were to add one to this board?
I personally would not bother with a looper.. but yes you could use one in the venue like that.
I have a Boss 30 set up on the tail end of my setup and luv it.
nice tones man...do you power the timeline with the dc10?
yes using one of the 400ma outputs.
I have noise on the XLR-Out of the Session DI. Regardless of whether with battery or phantom power and even if the gain and volume are completely set to 0. Does anyone have a similar problem with this?
might be the ground wire in your buildings elctrical, I've also had interference with lighting rigs with acoustic pickups sometimes.. maybe a clean power source will solve it.
The LR baggs session doesn't have fx loop, How is the chain order of pedals?
Violão / LR Baggs Venue (preamp e EQ) / Delay / Shimmer / Volta pro Venue (Fx loop) / LR Baggs Session (saturation e comp)
Great review! Your board is kool too!
You must have an undersaddle pick up...
Baek Lee it's the anthem. It has both a piezo and condenser. Can't beat it
Sir I have LR Baggs venue Di. Can you tell me the difference between venue Di and session Di it's very help full for me thankq !
I'm trying to figure that out, too. The Session DI seems nice, but I still think the Venue DI is better, because it has the Boost foot switch, which is nice for when you're about to solo and need a little push in the mix. The only problem is the Venue takes up more room.
The Venue is definitely more advanced and feature-laden. I have the Session and, while fairly simple, it really sounds great. It's got a built in high pass filter, ground/lift switch, and honestly the comp/EQ and the saturate knobs take it to another level. I think I'm definitely gonna get the Venue at some point, but the Session isn't half bad either
😉
You might want to get a hi pass filter on that thing. Acoustic guitars don't sound good running through my subwoofer lol
Sheeesh, so many electronics to get an acoustic sound
Not needful...less is more
Ray Wideman Getting a near-studio sound live and amplified is a bitch. The Baggs stuff, IMO, does get you that much closer to true acoustic guitar heard thru the PA.
Sheeesh.........Hedges had a great time with “so many electronics” for acoustic sounds too! sounds great! thanks for sharing
I agree. Sounded very sterile. Virtually every other video of the Anthem I've ever seen sounded better than this. Effects on acoustic sound so much better when added at the board.
@@tombundick1536 well said, im working on my acoustic live sound now, pain in the butt
The problem in this case the guitar doesn’t sound acoustic any more
With all the other gear you have your signal going through this demo is useless as to what the Venue sounds like.
wtf with that nintendo controller in the thumbnail; clickbait lol
Not clickbait. There are mint tins shaped like nes controllers. Same idea behind altoids tins on boards - they just hold picks and stuff. Likely he just didn't have his pick container on the board when filming.
