Nothing unrealistic in taking a 777 to Madeira. Lauda Air and Austrian Airlines did that regularly in the past, even though it was "only" a 777-200ER :)
Really???? 😮
@@GG-dj5opon 6 October 2002 an Air Atlanta Icelandic Boeing 747-200, registration TF-ABA, landed here :) In past A330 TAP had regular stop at Madeira.
@@TheBackfire44 😎 thanks for sharing. I'll be sure to try that with the upcoming 747
Another notable set of RNP AR approaches that this plane can do are the ones in Auckland, NZ. Great approaches with low minima and much faster than flying the full ILS!
This will be great on the 737
I really appreciate your statement „it‘s a sim, enjoy yourself, have some fun. Don’t take it too seriously.“
I love it to go deep in the systems and let me explain things, that the most people never heard of. But sometimes, you have to land a triple seven in Madeira or even LOWI, with a circling approach to RW08. 😅
Maybe an Idea for one of the next videos. I will try it first sure! Cheers
I cant wait to see the 777 on Xbox. I had so much fun learning the 737. Im ready for a new boeing aircraft fully detailed
A very nice landing! Great video too, really clear, thanks
Excellent ! a very useful tutorial on the mysteries of RFs.
Thank you Richard!
Wow that’s amazing I just might have to try this
Awesome
Good landing!!!👍
Impressive!
uhhh ok this nice didn"t know that was coming
The 777-300ER frequently flies reasonably tight RNP-AR approaches into my home airport of AKL
Hmm .... ok, so when you say "new Navigation Database", is this PMDG replacing or over writing the Navigraph AIRAC that Navigraph subscribers install each month ? Is PMDG going to release an updated AIRAC each month ? Or have I not understood this correctly ? Thanks for the video. Lee
I have the same questions. Something is not adding up right in my mind atm ;)
No , it means that PMDG changed the way how database is handled in 777 as Emannuel said in this video , like ability to change turning radius etc. You still need to download Navigraph database as normal .
This is about the format of the database, as far as I understand.
@@GodfatherCZ1 THX for the clarification :)
A comment and a question.
Question first: Isn’t the NAV database a misnomer? NAV data is NAV data. Isn’t this the capability of the box that takes that data and allows the airplane to fly it is the real story?
An advanced Honeywell, Collins or Smith FMS in the real world interprets the data and feeds it to the auto flight system (as a dispatcher this is my understanding). So the real story of the PMDG 777 and soon the 737 is the ability of the box to interact with the auto flight system. This is a HUGE development in the fidelity of the aircraft.
Of course, this doesn’t remove our responsibility to ensure that all the fixes and speed/altitude constraints are followed. One of the things we must do in the sim is to ensure all the fixes are in the approach. This is not always the case.
I will fly an RNP AR approach and we will see how it goes. Thanks for the detailed presentations!!
Lukla when? xD
Seychelles (FSIA) rwy 13 has RNP AR which both Qatar Airways and Emirates fly daily with B777
🤩🤩🤩
👍👍👍
How did you get the monitor in front of the plane, which also helps with parking?
I defy anyone to tell me different, that MSFS isn't the best simulator of any kind in the history of computer technology designed for public use. Utterly beautiful, utterly complex, and PMDG, you are absolute masters in your field.
Yep! complete waste of time and effort for any other developer to offer the 777.
The very best they could achieve is tiny incremental improvements over the pmdg.
I’ve just learnt the pmdg 737.600 and am eager to download this one.👍
hey are you using the frame gen mod for msfs?
I understand that having TERR is a choice, but in real life, it is used very rarely. We stay in WX, and if the terrain is a consideration, it will pop up automatically.
No, on IAS if the FMC is programmed or speeds are in LEGS page by DBASE we don't touch it, only for ATC changes we will open the window if necessary. There is no such thing that will not follow the FMC correctly, actually, it does an excellent job, better control, and excellent speed smooth reduction.
At MA526 A/C in AP banked momentarily L/R before initiating the turn (NOT HAPPENING IN REAL LIFE)
You keep mentioning that the airplane may not be able to maintain the speed of 250 IAS KTS. This procedure is designed to ensure we do not exceed the chartered speed of 195 at IAF and then 160.
Before MA522 again A/C in AP banked momentarily L/R before initiating the turn (NOT HAPPENING IN REAL LIFE) .
Yes, something to worry about, if you extend flaps past 20 with gear up you will get the warning config, learn the airplane, please.
Between MA522 and MA520 the aircraft should stay steady on the bank, not small corrections L/R, especially at 6 KTS winds.
Again at and before WPT passage MA520 and MA 504 the same issue with unsetled banking was observed.
Another big problem, at AP disconnect the airplane pitched up/down for no reason (NOT HAPPENING IN REAL LIFE), it should continue smoothly on that attitude.
Yes, SOP reset altitude at FAF.
All these problems with AP, FD interface were noticed also on the 737 and you keep on brushing them under the carpet as to be normal. SAME.
what is the flight plan that you used?
Does the new navigation database work in conjunction with or in lieu of Navigraph navigation data?
Yes it does
One I fly which is fun is NZWN RNP X rwy 16 (AR) the scenery is great with airport addon plus NZ world update. I don't know what the (AR) means though 🤔. Runway bit short for a 777 but light weight pray you might not end up in the sea 😂
777 used to fly into NZWN regularly pre-covid, well before it was replaced by an A350 shortly before covid hit.
AR stands for Authorization Required
if anyone calls a real multi-rated ATP pilot a noob, shame on their ignorance.
Which Madeira scenery are you using?
Amsim i believe
Can the Fenix A320 do this? Would it be FLS?
The Fenix can do it with most leg-types, but I did notice it gets issues if you stack too many without a waypoint that's fixed in space on top of one another. For example the BAVES1D Departure from LGIR27 causes some issues.
This has nothing to do with FLS, you can fly this one using the standard FINAL APP mode.
I have a question. Would it ever be appropriate to arm the APP mode on this approach in the 777?
Hi, no it would not. APP mode is only for ILS approaches.
@@A330Driver This is the time when I come clean that I have not been using the APP mode correctly for quite some time then. :D Oooof, thank you! I was thinking that this was part of the system for producing the glidepath and lateral advisory markers on the PFD. Most of my hours are in the 737 and I have been arming APP mode for RNP procedures there as well.
Thanks for the info! Does the 737 also have a gpws inhibit button also?
yes, it does.
Gear, flap and terrain inhibit switches are located approximately under F/O side ND. Or to the right side of the right CDU.
What is a AR?
Authorization Required

As for the comment, if you can get an A330 into Madeira, a 777 can do it no sweat.
