    Very good tutorial. Thanks for giving help to those of us who only get to fly our PCs. I watched it twice to make sure I understood everything. I no longer over control after watching this video. Thanks again.

    Little feedback here:
    Usually your tutorials are easy to follow and understand, this time however I felt the concept is all over the place and found it very hard to get the logic behind the 777 FBW and how it works. Maybe it is me, so I will try to watch it again and watch other tutorials as well. In all cases thank you!

    Really enjoy your videos. Please, please do a video on the MCP on the 777. Very confused as to when the buttons work and how to change modes. Specifically trying to go manual airspeed/autothrottle.

    Great explanation. I likely need more practice but I find that I can’t seem to be able to hold the plane at a steady descent rate. This is what I’m struggling with -
    Plane stabilizes at 142 kts approach and at 700 fpm. TRS at 142. Speed slowly increases to 143, then 144 because the AT doesn’t respond aggressively right away. The speed increasing causes the plane to trim nose up reducing the descent rate. Thrust comes up. I force the nose down which increases the speed again and destabilizes things.
    So, perhaps I need to keep trimming the TRS up so it matches the current speed, but then it keeps increasing, and suddenly I’ve got a TRS of 155-160 by the end of the approach.

    Awesome video, great explanation! Now I understand why my 787-8 behaves in a certain way especially on the final!
    I feel much more confident to purchase the PMDG 777!
    I will test my 787-8 see if FWB trim is displayed, if yes, I will practice see if a complete manual approach and final can be achieved without the annoying auto-trim constantly pitching the nose down!! I am not saying I have a super fancy 787-8. I do have both types available, and both behave strange in manual landing mode in a way I never understood. I noticed it's coming from the auto trim and I keep fighting over the control of the pitch which leads me to go around sometimes! In all case, this video helps understand Boeing's fly by wire basics!
    I only hope one day, PMDG will work on a 787-8 project!
    Thank you very much!

      I have the 737-800 and I know how detailed their aircraft are! I am sure the 777 will be as much fun.
      That is why I am hoping their next project will be 787-8. I have the Kuro and Bravo air space, but they are nowhere close to this level of realism!

    Why would you turn the FBW bug off in the sim? The real aircraft has a very important thing that the sim does not: physical feedback in the stick. Without that or the bug, it’s nearly impossible to correctly trim the airplane in the simulator

    • @inverterrace
      @inverterrace 6 месяцев назад +2

      The PMDG 777 will also give you feedback and add weight to your controls. Unless they are sort of very very weak.
      Do the following experiment: Turn the FBW bug ON. Stabilize the airplane. Now Turn the FBW speed bug off, accelerate somewhat and stabilize at a higher speed by feel. When done, turn the FBW speed bug back on and see where it is.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  6 месяцев назад +3

      As @inverterrace said, you can also "feel" the plane on the controls. Just like a real pilot would. I have no problems trimming the plane, just like I have no problems trimming the 737 or any other airplane. Takes a bit of practice, but it's really worth investing that time.

  • @jamesbp
    @jamesbp 6 месяцев назад

    I find the trim speed bug and it changed the easy i fly the 777, much better since then, should be on by default.

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  6 месяцев назад +1

      The real plane doesn't have it, that's why it's not on by default. I really think the default configuration should be as realistic as possible.

    I have a question upon the airspeed for pmdg 777 in MSFS. In live weather, I am not sure if I setup the simulator wrong or it's like this already, the airspeed is very unstable, varing several knots. Adding to the unstable airspeed, the AT cannot quite maintain the airspeed. Upon approach, sometimes the AT allows the airspeed to drop below Vref, and then suddenly apply 70-80% N1, making the whole airplane float and ruining the approach. Any idea how to mitigate that, or am I doing something wrong?

      Same here

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  6 месяцев назад +1

      That’s quite normal, in real life speed is never as stable as in the sim.

    Can somebody confirm if their aircraft performs a bit strange, im not 777 pilot but I think isn’t supposed to accelerate during takeoff at 20° -25° of pitch and overweight, if i had something like 50% fuel i can literally perform the 777x demonstration vertical takeoff.

    • @davidicusb
      @davidicusb 5 месяцев назад +1

      @markbriley where to begin? It has poor handling/speed characteristics, especially at low-level, it's missing some core basic functionality in the FMC, and there are still a number of other bugs such as when you select 'autobrakes max' it gets printed twice on the EICAS. This is the worst product PMDG has released in years. The P3D version is genuinely much better.
