    I hate that they always try to blame the customer first. It’s like the customer has to put the bag under a microscope the minute they get it and record everything however small it may be in order to get warranty coverage in the future. $10k is no joke and they need to improve quality. You have every right to feel disappointment and I’m so sorry this happened to you. 😞😞😞

    More reasons my Chanel addiction is finally calming down. Between 2018 until January of this year, I was constantly buying bags, accessories, shoes and RTW. The multiple, large price increases were shocking; but the new rules and appalling lack of quality control has me ready to find a new (fashion house) lover 😉
    And the reason I bought so much the past few years was because I had the most fabulous SA that made shopping so much fun! But seeing so many people talking about the terrible customer service they encounter, it is easy to see why so many people are now shopping elsewhere.
    I am so sorry you are dealing with this.

    My personal experience: In 2017, I bought a classic flap in ghw new directly from the Chanel boutique at the South Coast Plaza store in California. Within a month or two from the purchase date, the gold on the ghw on the turn knob started coming off and turning silver. I took the bag back to the store. The boutique acknowleged the defect and offered to exchange or full refund. Although I ended up exchanging to shw classic flap (because I was afraid gold would come off again), it left a bad feeling about Chanel. I will not buy another Chanel bag due to quality issue and extortion price increase. I also noticed quality problems with many of the new Louis Vuitton bags- that is another topic

    ✨The audacity of Chanel to tell you it was your storage issue. It’s infuriating because I explained this EXACT same problem to the SF boutique earlier this year. They had to take back mine for this exact problem. Ours can’t just be the only ones…

    Girl I got this small shopping tote in 2008. I probably used it twice bc the shoulder straps never fit right. Put it in the box and never really wore it. Finally dig it out and took it to lunch. The strap fell off like it was some cheap back alley knock off. I think the knock off would have probably stayed in better shape TBH. The screw just popped off. Good thing I was able to find all the pieces. Mortifying.

    Omg, I'm so sorry to hear about this happening to you. It's so frustrating that you finally got a bag you love, only to find out there's a defect and then having to go through the process at the SF boutique, but being accused that you didn't store your bag properly. For the amount of money you spent, I feel that you should get a refund or another brand new bag. It sucks that refund is not available. How do they assess and determine it's their defect? It's pretty obvious that this didn't happen to your other classic flaps and that cotton swab already showed proof. I do agree that the quality has gone down. The chain of my mini square was twisted in several spots when I received my bag earlier this yr and I took it to the boutique to show them. Luckily, the SA said he can manually untwist those few spots on the chain and it stayed that way. He said the newer bags has chains that easily twist, but it can be untwist. I was too scared to untwist it myself so I took it to the boutique. My WOC from few years back had no issues. The chain is solid and no twists. It's disappointing that Chanel increased prices dramatically and the quality goes down. I hope they fix your bag if they can't give you a refund especially if there's warranty.       @@SasaZoe Yeah I hope they do a fair assessment on your bag and you have been purchasing Chanel items from them for a period of time. I do love Chanel, but with the price increases on things, it really makes me think twice before buying something. I haven't been too into the seasonal trendy stuff as it doesn't really fit my lifestyle. And then quality issues also makes it hard to justify spending nearly $10k on a bag.....Hopefully Chanel improves their quality because the prices won't go down.

    Hi Sasa, so sorry to hear this. I had a similar incident early last year when I was sold a Chanel Boyfriend watch (manual). I was told it was the last piece and was especially flown in from Australia for me. I got it on a Sunday and wore it on Monday morning. The watch stopped moving by evening time. I updated my SA and was told to bring in. For some reason (I believe it was God's guidance), I wrote a stern letter to Chanel Head Office that I am entitled to the Lemon Law and demand to have full refund if the watch still cannot tell time accurately or I'll share what happened openly and engaged legal action. After 2 weeks, I picked up the watch and true enough, it stopped a second time before the evening was over. I got the full refund back in my credit card. Yes, I would hope you can share what happened. Let's hope for the best before you decide on the next step. Try to have a good day ahead.

      I am going to have to disagree with you all here girls, I have bought many many many for over 15 years, not a single time I had to take my jewelry to Chanel for fixing, knock on wood! But I think it’s not always the case.

    Wow for that price, it's so weird that the customer NEEDS to check the item thoroughly for factory defects. For a 10k bag it should have all been quality checked to be close to mint before boxed. 🤔

      @@SasaZoe Well my sisters attempted to buy bags from Chanel and both times, while they were checking the bags they had damages and imperfections. Mind you these were from the back. Unfortunately both last pieces. They never went back.

      they don't care. you don't pay for the items you pay for brand equity. as cheaper they produce as higher the margin.

    I've been collecting Chanel for 10 years and had to stop myself 5 years ago because of the quality issues have became very apparent and unacceptable with the current prices. I think at this rate you should just keep this classic flap as you said you'll never find the exact one for the same price few years down the road, and you wouldn't know if you find another one of the same bag now that it doesn't have the same issue if not more. The store manager and SA are horrible for gaslighting you into thinking that it's your own fault for the quality issue with this bag, it's not like they personally made the bag so no need to be defensive about it.

      @@SasaZoe Haha don't get me wrong I still buy random things from Chanel because of my lovely SA, but definitely not nearly as much as I used to - I'd only buy something once in a few years if I really like it, like the heart belt bag. I just can't be dropping money left & right on Chanel knowing all the issues with their bags nowadays plus them taking forever to repair it. I once sent in my custom earrings for repair because a few rhinestones fell off, took them 6 months and then told me they lost the earrings in transit. But thanks to my SA she got the SM to agree to give me a replacement free of charge. Hope everything worked out for you & your chanel cf! It's such a beautiful bag despite the rusty hardware.

    Hi Sasa, so sorry this happened to you! Many times this past 2 years I find the defects at home. The lighting in the boutique usually is “blinding” it’s hard to find they the defects right away. I have bought more the past 2 years.. and I would say I had to return at least 5 bags and 2 pairs of shoes due to defects. We should really not have to inspect these. The grommets, wow! Glad you figured it out. I had lost a few beautiful limited pieces because they were defective. It’s not worth it. Please update us when you hear back from the assessment. Not sure what I would do either… 💕

      @@SasaZoe I am for sure but I will take my time in the boutique to look over each piece carefully and not have FOMO take over. What I don't like is if the item is defective some SA's say if you don't take this one then you lose your place on line... I mean I didn't put my name down for a defective item, why should I lose my spot? Do you think they put these defective items back out and sell to the next one on the list?

    oh dear, sorry to hear you are going through this. In this price range the bag should be in perfect condition. This is a tough decision, if you really love this bag, I say to replaced the gourmettes otherwise, get a store credit to buy something else.( a blazer or jacket that you always wanted). keep us posted when you hear back from chanel.

    I bought 1 classic flap in 2020 and 1 classic flap in 2021. Both black caviar of ghd and shd. I just checked it after seeing your video. Both are fine. I am not too happy with shd the flap being a little higher but it is still stunning every time I open it.

      @@SasaZoe My most recent purchase was a pair of chanel sneaker from last October. I paid $1100 ( tax included ) and honestly I was a bit disappointed in it's quality as well. The flap where the shoe laces are laid on top is not lined up straight. It's crooked.... I serious think Nike Air Jordan is a better made shoes at this point. Needless to say, I decided to keep them because they are chic and comfortable to wear on a daily basis. I am trying to get my cost per wear worthwhile !!!!

    Hi Sasa, thank you so much for your video. It happened exactly the same to me with my classic flap bag that I bought in 01/22. Your video made me aware of the problem and I brought the bag back to Chanel. The bag was sendet to Paris for repair. I am steel waiting for it and i have no idea how they can repair so much damage. The black spots were on many places on the chain leather and the rigs and cc lock were totally black! ❤️😘

    Sorry to hear about this. I agreed with you that the bags from pre-2019 were much better in terms of quality wise.
    White bags require high maintenance. If they can give you a store credit, I would do so. Chase Amie just bought a white chanel flap bag. I think that's a great alternative to the classic flap in terms of the cost wise. I think that one is very pretty.

      The quality went down dramatically after 2011/2012. I'm guessing that is when they starting cutting costs and using cheaper materials and labour.

    I live in the Philippines and there aren't any chanel stores here so I just bought a chanel bag (series 30) from a reseller in the UK so I had to pay around a thousand dollars more but when it came to me, I didn't realize that the turnlock was crooked and he didn't disclose it to me as well. The reseller was not at all helpful when I asked if he could help me at least to send it in for repair but just told me that chanel is just gonna consider it wear and tear when it's obviously factory defect. I had to sell it for almost a thousand cheaper even after all the price increases because of that stupid flaw. I just felt helpless, honestly it's just not worth it. I'm only keeping one bag from chanel but they don't even respect their clients, they have awful service, the quality is terrible and the price is just delusional. They can try and pretend they're as worth it as hermes but chanel at this point is just shallow, all about the brand name and all about the surface but everything else is just trash.

    I think you should ask for store credit first, then if that isn't an option get the repair. This is a lesson for all of us, when you noticed the black marks first you should have returned the bag. When we are spending this amount of money the bag should be perfect.

    I had a similar problem - 22C Pink CF. After bringing the bag home I noticed a black circular mark on the bag where the snap button closes. After investigating I found that the tip of the snap button has rusted and left a mark on the leather. Used conditioner and only got 60% of the stain out. I kept the bag because there was no replacement and the mark is not very visible. A very well known luxury you tuber also unboxed the same 22C pink CF and I saw THE EXACT STAIN ON HER BAG!!!!

    Hi Sasa, I am so sorry that you had to go through all these crapy experiences with CF and Chanel. It makes me upset when hearing how Chanel tried to accuse you. Be careful they might charge a huge repair and replacement fees if it is not a defect after their assessment. I took my vintage Chanel jacket to the NM Chanel boutique in SF last week, it costs $1,200 for resizing the jacket 🧥 😳. I got my Chanel 19 white-ish grey last winter, and it has been doing OK so far. My suggestion is: get store credit if possible, and buy a nice Chanel black jacket, or try to score the white CF before this December, if possible. And yes, please share any follow-up about this issue, really helpful. Thanks for sharing, Sasa!

    I purchased the SAME bag from SF boutique and notice SAME rusty problem and also the base of my bag was not even with the side…the bottom edge was slightly too wide..I noticed the night when I got home so went back the next morning & had to sadly return. I have many classic flaps and never had this issue. The SA was so rude to me and try to tell me there is nothing wrong but I insist I want to return. I would recommend to consider store credit if I were you, only because you never know if this would happen to the new one. I thought I was the only person who had this rusty issue because I did so much research and never saw any video talking about it so I assume it was a fluke

    Hi the exact same thing happened to my beige classic flap which I bought in 2013. The metal part literally flaked off and there were bits of metal flakes on my bag. I too was blamed for using perfume etc and I don’t even have perfume at home! Eventually they were nice enough to give me a store credit but the price of the bag has gone up so I paid an extra $400 to get the same bag…

Im confident that you were got a bag from a bad batch. When I got the exchange (at another boutique, the new bag was perfect, 10 years later no issues but knowing that even CF can have shitty metals has definitely left a scar on my end) I’m so sorry this has taken away the experience of shopping at Chanel…good luck ❤️

    Omg...who would have guessed grommets could be rusty wheb brand new. That's terrible that the aftersales service is so poor and blaming the customer is not right. Lucky u have other Chanels to prove them that your storage is not questionnable. I hope you get a positive outcome from this. I think a store credut would be best, the rusty part will keep on getting worse. TFS dear

    omg, hope this will work out fine. I almost bought this bag, but didn’t go for it as the only one available hat stitching issues… can’t remember 100% but I do think I spotted some stains on it that could easily be removed. The bag is super stunning, if they repair it and it looks good I’d keep it..

    I’m sorry that it happened, especially before the summer time. If I were you I would keep the repaired handbag. It still will be brand new since all replacements are done by Chanel. I also wouldn’t buy another Chanel bag for a few years. Your Chanel collection is very beautiful and complete already. Instead I would focus on Hermes handbags, nothing can beat their quality 😊

      Yes, I’m definitely more focused on H these days. I noticed that I have to baby my Chanel products a lot… sometimes it’s little bit stressful considering the crazy prices 😂 with H I can relax, the quality is so resistant. Few months ago, I stepped on cement in my light blue oz mules. I washed them with water and they were fine 😂

    Chanel won’t give you a credit note, it takes so long for them to fix anything is because their whole system is not working. It’s so much pain to buy an expensive bag from Chanel, only to be humiliated to wait for a ridiculous long time for the bag to be fixed. Their warranty system is a mess, when you buy something to use, not for it to get stuck in repair. Can we start focusing on alternative quality brands with good customer after care please? It’s too stupid to be treated like idiots over and over again. 😢

    I was at the SIngapore Chanel shop just last month. Was about to purchase a Coral Chanel 19, right when I was about to purchase it, I saw they had two pen mark on the leather! I asked the SA if they were able to get rid of the marks, they said "this is not a classic color, so we can't fix it" but we can try to see if we can use an eraser to get ride of the pen mark. So yeah, completely agree, the quality of Chanel has completely gone out the door.

    Sorry to hear about that. I think you should insist to exchange the new one to you. It is a quality issue. Chanel quality is decreasing is not worth comparing with the price. I have rusty issue on the cc logo of the sunglasses and SLG bag. But I use toothpaste to remove it. So I did not go to the shop for repairing it.

    This is one of the reason why I don’t want to buy a white flap bag from Chanel. It’s getting much more expensive and the quality is going down a lot. My Chanel SA once told me that white caviar flap is a high maintenance bag. Keep in mind that the bag will turn to yellowish down the road, slowly but sure. White lambskin is even worse. Because of that, I bought a white mini Fendi Peekaboo instead and it looks gorgeous and cheaper. I am glad I made that decision.

And last month I made my very first visit to a Chanel store (since 2016), and they showed me a tiny handle bag - the stitch was distorted??? I was like...hmm...I made a very wise decision in 2016.     They are not a luxury brand clearly based on their behavior. Luxury by definition, traditionally meant high quality, superior exclusive service. For that you paid exclusive prices. If the bag was defective they repair it for life. If it is defective and under warranty, then they'd replaced it.
    Even Non luxury brands will replace items under warranty but a luxury brands won't even do that when they have know quality issues?! They can no longer claim to be luxury service. They can only claim to be high-priced fashion as their service and quality is no longer luxury. And they proved it with you and also with other leather drawstring bag fiascos.
    I feel they should have replaced your entire bag as looking at it there are no scuffs, water marks, or signs of abuse. Storing it in a dust bag is how it should be stored. If you stored it wet, clearly the main bag would show water damage and the chain would have rust.
    See they are horrid blaiming their customer who brings a well cared for purse with no corner wear or scuffs as causing damage.
    A new bag is what a luxury brand should do and they are now not acting like luxury but a just a money grabbing fast fashion factory, based on their behavior.
    If they want to refurbish and sell your bag at a lower price they can, but you should always get a new bag at the price you paid, that's what you deserve for a luxury price.

    So sorry Sasa this happened to you. I have the same bag but mine is 21B and I love mine just as much as you love yours. If it was me, I personally would talk to my SA and tell her how much I love the bag and I would like if Chanel professionals could look at it and see if they could repair it even if that means I have to pay for the repair.       @@SasaZoe long story short, they sent the bag to NJ for repair, instead of Paris, idk why. They did replaced all the hardware and no more tarnish, but damaged the bag on other area. I’m very disappointed. after complaining, they promised a replacement bag. But it’s been months, still no updates. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    So sorry that your bag has issues. That was so bad of how Chanel boutique handled the situation. If they claimed it was the way you stored your bag, then why was there no damage on the leather. If they are going to offer the store credit, then perhaps get a different color CF or save the store credit to purchase RTW/fine jewelry in the near future? Do you have the caramel color in CF in your collection? Love that color. Good luck.

    The same thing happened to me. In 2021 I bought a large Chanel 19 and a pair of shoes, when I got home I saw that the bag botton was grated , and one of the shoes was peeling on the top. I called immediately my S.A. , sent her pictures to prove it, and then I returned it all to the store. But I had to wait 3 MONTHS to fix the defects. So unfair.

    5 years ago, I bought a Chanel with many compartments n after 3days, it cracked apart. I brought it back, the manager said you must know how to use a Chanel bag! My husband was so upset because he had bought me 8 Chanel bags before. The stupid manager never even check my records n spoke rudely. I stopped buying Chanel. Sadly, the quality has deteriorated. My old Chanel bag was still fine after 10 years. The CEO has become greedy n incompetent.

    Maybe try not to use Leather Conditioner on the strap as there are metal hardwares on the strap and they are connected to the grommets when you adjust the straps. These conditioners are for leather only and may taint any metal contacts. We don’t know if Chanel has started using a different quality on their hardwares nowadays and newer metal hardwares are different from your older Chanel bags. Thus it might be different ways to preserve them.

      Because this bag was bought from another buyer in the prelove market (but its brand new). I didnt wanna go through the hassle or arguing with Chanel. I bought a silver cleaning cloth from Muji and i started to clean it and fortunately i got 90% of the rust out … it wasnt perfect but it was acceptable for me. The rest of the bag was perfect except for this, so i just left it like this.

    OMG SaSa I just did a rant on Fashionably Amy's Channel on why I said Goodbye to Chanel. Similar situation to you....so many quality issues and they blamed it on me!! In my final 2 years of Chanel I had so many repair issues! And yes they also blamed me, a. VIP for so many years! I hope you get better treatment than I did because after that experience...I left Chanel....and ultimately after a lot of back and forth they did offer me a refund although initially it was a store credit...don't give up! The SA is really really lucky I didn't write to corporate...I was very furious. Good luck to you!

    I got the same bag same season and had to return the moment I received it because of the same issue and many more. Somehow I think this particular batch had terrible quality. I refused to get the repair recommended by the SA. I couldn’t wrap my mind around the fact that I had to send my brand new $9000 bag for repair. The SA wrongly warned me that it was the last one and no more was coming to the store. I decided to return anyway even though it was my dream bag. A week later they got so many 22s white Classic bags (later season) in and I was so glad that I didn’t get the FOMO and returned and waited for the 22s white which I much prefer and the quality is much better.

    Push for store credit and get something else. I had a classic flap that I had to send in for repair bc one of the grommets actually becoming loose within 2 weeks of getting it from SF boutique. Chanel SF SA and manager kept saying it was due to me adjusting the straps incorrectly(!?!). It then took nearly a year to get it repaired and when I checked in once (8months in) with the SA about the status I was made to feel like I was being unreasonable to even ask. By the time I got the bag back I didn’t really want the bag anymore as it was associated with this bad experience. Sorry that this happened to you and I hope you can find a perfect dream white Chanel bag in the future. Last note-are we all going to be using tissue or bringing cotton buds in when we shop to check for rust around the grommets now? 🤣

      @@SasaZoeWhile the repair took 11 months, the repair job looked pretty good. I used the bag once after getting back from repair with no issues. I sold the bag soon after because the entire experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. Hope that things work out better for you!

    Sasa, Chanel’s s.a. and manager are snotty. They should just take the bag and repair it with no questions ask. Instead they blamed you how you stored your bag. It’s just a hardware issue. Just replace it and apologize for your inconvenience. The customer service you called already told you it was a defect on their side and there is a 2 year guarantee on their new bags. They are only nice to you when you buy the bag from them, after you leave their store you feel like you are on your own.

    I would get it repaired and keep it. Just make sure repaired version is perfect. It’ll be hard to get another one like it and for the same price and especially with new quota system. Unless you are VIP with them. Even with store credit you may run into the same problems again. Good luck.

    Happened to me last yr. Got a micro drawstring with pearl strap. After i used it twice in a mth, there was a 1cm (left) & 1.5cm (right) gap on the pearl strap (wasnt there at the start). Got it taken in for repair, not successful & luckily could swap for a different bag style.

    For such an expensive bag they can't use quality metal that doesn't oxidize? The hardware on a $10k bag should stay pristine in salt water, let alone some humidity. margin must be crazy high.

    This is so disappointing. Being so new they should have taken back for repair at no cost or store credit immediately. If you have an option to get a store credit I would do that. I was such a huge fan of Chanel but I had a similar experience early this month my 2.5 year old classic black WOC I noticed the clear shiny coating on the caviar was peeling. Anyway long story short they said nothing can be done. I wasn’t looking for warranty but disappointed that they don’t have a service where we can pay to restore these bags. So I’m happy for the Chanel collection I have, but not looking to add anymore from here on out. Strictly focused on Hermes now. 😂. I bought so many Chanel bags last year. As soon as I get back from holiday I’m going to look at the grommets! 🤣

    You should return it to Chanel Boutique and ask why had black stain on the strap, since you bought it very expensive!

    Girl you know you shop way out of my budget so I couldn’t tell you anything about Chanel quality BUT I do know enough that they owe you a repaired handbag. I just bought a used Michael Kors bag from Poshmark for $5o and it’s still perfect. And that’s MK! Chanel is so wrong.
    Jmo but they can get away w that because of their clientele. They feel like it’s a privilege just to shop there. Store credit is fine if that’s what you get stuck with but I wouldn’t buy that bag again at an increased rate. But that’s just me.
    I feel for you. If I get screwed over at McDonald’s I want an immediate solution! I couldn’t imagine spending that kind of $ to be told I stored it wrong… uhm ok. Keep us posted. I actually like your white YSL bag better rock that one for now.

    Sorry for your bad experience! They told you 2-year warranty? I thought they have 5-year warranty now?

      Factory warranty is two years, but they don’t repair any bags older than 5 years. It’s that you have to pay after two years. Does it make sense?

    I recently purchased two Chanel Bags and two pairs of flats in same store in Vegas. In less than a week after I came back to San Francisco home, I found defect on one of the shoe, I called to return because they said I can do so in 14 days, but they said no, saying I wore them, while I didn’t, the bottom of the shoe is still shiny. San Francisco boutique wouldn’t take any responsibility and let me talk to SA in Vegas myself. I tried to contact the SA, very very slow response and said no for return first and asked me if I want to repair. I said they are new and defect why should I repair, but she doesn’t respond to my text at all. I called customer service they said it’s entirely up to the boutique. I kept texted SA again she said email me Fedex drop off email, but cost me a week to receive that email. Now I dropped off in Fedex, don’t know when I can receive my shoes back, and if they will even charge for the repair or not. So so disappointing.

    This is DEPLORABLE. They always want to blame the customer first. How upsetting😒 They increase the price but don't increase the QUALITY. How brazen. And for those who are trying to argue that CHANEL is focusing on a more 'affluent' clientele--with MORE reason they increase their quality. No one paying $10k for a bag expects it to tarnish this way. Gosh--this is disgusting. 😤😤
