"I'll be fine. Just get me to Space Hospital."
KhaosN7 Sven: I'll respawn myself at the space Hospital like Claude, Tommy Vercetti, Carl Johnson
@@99mrpogi Yeah, the way Sven falls to the ground can go perfectly with a “WASTED” text.
🤣
@@SaitohYatate
Sven has the power of the konami code he got himself another 30 lives after getting killed
They probably don't take his insurance :(
If they do this to Shiro I will kill a man, probably Iverson.
Spoiler Alert: Shiro went missing
Another spoiler alert: Shiro is a clone
Sven made it into season 3
And said
Y o o h o o
snowblossom haga
Rainbow Sweet ohyeah,he is a clone
"Get me there FAST!" Must be REALLY fast, if he's already DEAD, lol.
dub Sven was all like "I'm hurt to bad! Take me to doctor!" And then the sub Sven was all like go back to the castle! The world still needs you."
In the Japanese version, it's clear that Sven dies. But in the US version, his death was changed for a coma. Now, I can understand why they changed it. Not only to suit the standards of American TV, but because saying that he died would have been too dramatic for the kids. But it's a good thing that Sven was treated better in the US version, and in the comics. In the comics, Sven is given more importance and development rather than just being a character who is introduced only to die or disappear later on.
MDthornton83 That is true.
MDthornton83 N0t to mention doesn't sven return later in the series? how'd that work in the Japanese version.
One was the brother of the other it was two different people in golion.
This is a bit late but with the voltron ver if you watch it with the audio off you can tell he died.
The Japanese version was much more graphic. When Voltron/Golion fought the monsters some were cut in half in gory manner. Too graphic for American audiences.
Pretty ironic, huh? Masako Nozawa, Honerva and Hiroshi Suzuishi's seiyu, plays Son Goku in the Dragon Ball franchise, while Ryusei Nakao, Takashi and Ryou Shirogane's seiyu, plays Frieza. So, I guess you can say that Goku defeated Frieza in a different way.
That's cool!!
Frieza straight up murdered goku lmaoo
If Dreamworks wants to capitalize further on the Voltron franchise, and we know they will, they should simply re-release GoLion with a whole new uncut dub.
That’s a terrible idea because OG Golion was horrendous.
@@ayylmao575 what was so bad about it?
That would rock.
@@mattkennedy6115 it had issues but with remastering and re dubbing from the OG cast it will sound much better.
@@inkga10clan29it would be interesting if a fan used AI to create the original cast’s English VO for the Go-Lion series!
I'm going to die myself if they do this to Shiro in the new series. ;___;
Same. He's just so good looking, you can't take him away from me just yet ;~;
One does not simply kill Space Dad
I'm honestly torn. A part of me wants to see Shiro die just to show that V:LD means business and is unencumbered by censorship like the classic 80's series. Yet on the other hand, I've grown attached to his characterization in the show that his death would probably destroy me.
don't worry. they only do it to VLD Sven :3
The good news is that they didnt kill our shiro but they killed sven .-.
So Sven's Japanese name is Shirogane and in the new Show the black lion pilot is Shiro. Whelp ready those deathflasgs.
Also you got love how they later would take Shirogane's twin brother in a later episode and say it was Sven in the dub to say Sven was ok now. I mean how lucky can you get to not only not kill off a character who was supposed to die but use his twin brother to say he is alive?
SVEN IS OKAY NOW IM
According to the news bulletin announcing the failure of the Kerberos mission, Shiro's Full/real name is "Takashi Shirogane"-ie exactly the same as his Golion counterpart
there are other anime from the same super robot genre and from the same time that, in my opinion, are better than Golion, like Voltes V, Daimos and Daltanias.
Takashi Shirogane
Ken Krumbach LOL THATS BASICALLY WHAT HAOPENED IN THE NEWER VERSION BUT MORE DISCREET LOL
English dub at: 1:44. I’m glad Sven’s new bed finally arrived. He looks so peaceful sleeping. The doctors say he’ll as good as new in no time.
“Space doctors” please don’t insult our intelligence. “Space comas” are no laughing matter 😂
Sven is expected to respawn himself with 30 lives
I watched Voltron all the time as a kid. I HATED the weekend one with the stupid little ships. I was always a fan of the lion version. I had no idea back then that it was a Japanese cartoon. Before the internet, you couldn't find versions like this so you were in the dark. I'll never fathom the editing they do in the USA. Before the fans rioted for uncut versions, Dragon Ball Z was SO edited that you couldn't even enjoy it. I remember the scene where Sven got "hurt bad." It worked out better with the Princess piloting the Blue Lion. I may have to try and watch the whole series again in Japanese. Hell, I even had the Voltron toy that came apart into lions! It was hilarious because if you watch the cartoon, you see that, in theory, the lions should be different sizes when they're separated. I guess the out is that they're magic as well. Well, my toy wasn't magic. The black lion was huge, the yellow and blue were medium size, about the way they look on TV, and the red and green were tiny lions! They had to be like that to form Voltron. I miss that toy. :(
The anxiety that this may happen to SpaceDad gives me crippling depression
The very people who butchered this in the first place are confessing this.
I love watching the original and dubbed versions of these shows because their fricking hillarious.
Voltron Season 3 looks great
0:18
What the fluck is this and why is Sven turned to stone?
Dramatic effect.
A lot of old anime series used to have still shots of characters colored like that for a dramatic effect.
It all makes sense now. Shiro on the Netflix series is suppose to die and Keith takes over as the leader later on in the series.
Given how he was modified by the enrmy, he is probably a sleeper agent. I wouldn't be surprised if he sacrifices himself at some point.
Yep. Princess will definitely be flying the blue lion in Season 2.
I was between 6 & 9 when I watched Voltron. If the Japanese version were shown, I wouldn't have been traumatized by it. I had already experienced death of a loved one when I was 5.
rika95 ok
Who came here after watching season 2 of Voltron Legendary Defender? What happened to Shiro?
He is a clone
Rainbow Sweet yeah
HE IS IN THE ASTRAL PLANE
hey guys its me is that Kylo Ren?!
CHROME BONES
Yes it is Adam Driver
that's how Masako Nozawa would sound like if she voices Uranai Baba
0:20 that's the same sound Slimer makes in Ghostbusters when he attacks Vankman
And once again Freeza (Shirogane's V.A.- Ryusei Nakao) loses to Goku (Honerva's V.A.- Masako Nozawa).
30 plus years ago I was a kid watching Voltron on a Saturday morning. It was the Lion Voltron. The show ended in a cliffhanger of sorts where it looked as if the entire crew had died or something... maybe turned into ghosts. I waited until the next week, but the show did not come on. The following week the goofy vehicle show was on tv. This was over a decade before the Internet was around, so I could not look up what had happened. Does anyone know what happened? I have been wondering for 3 decades.... The last episode I saw of the lion Voltron was where one of the crew said "It's so peaceful here"... it was really weird.
I will speak to the Producers and see if we can find the answer for you.
Michael Bell is great at playing characters who clearly died but end up in a "coma"! Sven and Duke in GI JOE The Movie.
GET ME THERE FAST
I was never an advent watcher of the voltron series, but I always wondered why Sven was just gone out of nowhere. So in the English version where he 'clearly' did not die. What was their explanation for his sudden retirement?
He was taken to a hospital, but along the way, the ship was attacked, and he would re-appear (as WEP would have Sven back, by taking the character Ryou Shirogane, the brother of Takeshi, his GoLion counterpart, and redubbing him to Sven).
I honestly started crying just cause I think I imagined this being in the new version with our new characters
Sven: Tis but a scratch.
Friends: Uh no it isn't.
Sven:I said its a scratch!!!!
dunno which show had more censorship in it:
voltron/golion or battle of the planets/gatchaman...
nobody dies in voltron and all the deaths in gatchaman are replaced by "mysterious disappearing s...."
I swear i remember seeing the funeral scene in English when i was younger watching the show on Boomerang... i didnt even know they censored it until i was watching the DVD release i got...
I'm talkin' mid-80s when it originally aired in the U.S.
They cut part of the Japanese GoLion part out here. After Shirogane falls down the monster actually hits him again to finish the job
The Japanese version is much more dramatic, though I still have a nostalgic soft spot for the english version.
As a five year old kid I never understood why the blue guy disappeared from the show and replaced by the princess. Now I know why.
What the hell America! I thought 80's Voltronwas a joke, but the Japan version shut me up, oh mY GOD!
Who is watching this after Season 3 and now also realised where Honerva's name and the space cat came from
No. They even brought back "Sven" in the latter part of the Voltron series. It was actually Shirogane's brother in the Golion series.
that's right and he died in the last episode with lothor( sincline in the japanese version)
“Get me there fast”
GET ME TO SPACE HOSPITAL!
0:28 at least I'm glad they still showed the blood
the English version has no emotional voice
You all see episode 4 of S3?? I was dying when they parodied the English translation!!!
Did Goku just straight up murdered Frieza in the Japanese version known ad Golion? Lol
Inthe US version wasn’t Sven later revealed to have run away after his coma only to be discovered working in the mines for Lotor? Or am I just making this up & have a bad memory.
Correct. But the Japanese version, the one who works in the mines was a different character who also died in the series finale. In Voltron, the two characters were combined because the production staff thought they were the same, mainly because they shared the same seiyuu.
Rest in peace Sven
So how was this resolved? Dropping a line about Sven retiring or something?
In a semi-break with tradition, Shirogane's death -can't- be prevented in Super Robot Taisen W(Nintendo DS - 2007)...it's played up as a significant plot development within the game, but in a very different sequence of events surrounding a battle....
@JohhnyMayhem Of course! You wouldn't want the dead to be severely bruised when being buried, no?;)
I CAN SENSE YOUR TRUE PRESENCE
Wow, that was terrible.
@Cramerica66 he has a twin brother that shows up in Go Lion, in Voltron? it's just him, back and feeling better then ever.
Too bad they don't make em like this anymore
(says the 20 year old millennial hipster)
Yesm sometimes not everything in life have a happy ending :( the japanese kids know it, i don't see why other kids must not see it, especially the US kids.
I actually prefer the edited English version.
That disco music is totally inappropriate for a space fantasy.
Always thought he fell off the green Lion and was in an infinite entropy if I remember Voltron
It looks like in the Super Sentai in Showa Era that all Sentai Rangers were died in many episodes of the series
Is Voltron overrated? I'm starting to feel like it is. And wasn't it created using clips from another cartoon as well?
jacoblgames 'No voltron is not overrated however the english dubbing for voltron was horrible
No, it didn't use bits from other cartoons unless they might have included bits from Dairugger XIII which was the vehicle Voltron ... they definitely showed that in the credits when they talked about the galaxy alliance/ galaxy garrison. Golion, the original cartoon, is pretty good.
Censorship and dialog changes actually worked in the series' favor in many ways. Not only was it a hit for western audiences, but it also spawned a whole legacy of 80's nostalgia that will just keep going now that a new (and pretty good) reboot started airing on Netflix recently. The way western audiences think about Voltron is way different to how the Japanese received Golion (they thought it was yet ANOTHER super robot show. Its depressing tone didn't help very much, either), to the point that they can be considered two separate series.
SaitohYatate I pretty much agree with you.
@@SaitohYatate Not only was Golion just another Super Robot show in Japan, it’s also one of the shittiest mecha anime ever made.
Yeah, a lot of us know Go Lion was very lightened when it came here, to avoid causing mental trauma to the brats of ages long gone. I admit the English dub had to keep it PG or it would never have come here. But seriously, I had forgotten that they mentioned doctors in that scene following his battle with Hagar. Hilarious when you compare the two versions nowadays. The U.S. dub was really hammy and corny with its rewrites.
and they brought him back in voltron force
mom: why tf are you crying so loud
Me:
America had to censor it!
All I hear is: “MIYAAAAAAAGIIIII!!!!”
SPACE HOSPITAL
@kidcat3000 what about it?
New comments are here cause of voltron legendary defender s3 ep.4.
Go Lion!
Mind you, while I admit what they did to Svenn took out what could have been a nice scene, you start to question that if Haggar could do this so easily, why did they never try it again when they clearly didn't have anyone else who could regularly pilot the lions. Ahhh, you have to love cartoon logic.
So he died cause a cat...I always knew they were lethal.
marina rocha No a robeast killed him from behind.
D': That's so sad!! D'X
@MrKawabata67 Ok, so those guys got the school slashings instead of school killings.
@Cramerica66 I would reply, stating I along with other people don't care about your comment, but that would contradict my statement, so rather than starting a pointless flame war on RUclips, why don't we just enjoy the freaking video..
Here after that scene in voltron season 6 💔

i wish they didn't kill him, because i hated the princess.
pooperscoop54321 I actually love the princess
You're going to love Netflix version
@@omiorahman6283except that they changed the character of pidge into a female
Thank you for video. I am from Russia and we don't have such stupid censorship. But unfortunately us version was shown in Russia.

Man thats messed up.. I remember watching like wen is sven coming back..
the US version covered it so well. I thought he was still on his Journey lol
I feel like he should've died already getting bit by Haggar's cat in the FACE

Yoohoo just take me to space hospital~
@GeistGestalt Lol!=) Though I guess its more that the Japanese are stricter with their kids.
Apparently they bury their dead in packing peanuts.
"get me there fast" doesn't sound very heroic LOL. His accent is do thick...
*I'm Tinking*
sven I thought u were dead
sven: I was,,I mean I am...oh....I am sven's twin brother with the dodgy sweedvish accent..I mean
wow...it's a good thing a mortal wound like that couldn't kill anyone and we weren't craying hah (all laugh)..now lets just skip that funeral scene since it never happened...horray for inconsistency...horray.
@shaider1982 Precisely because of that. If you teach your kids that if someone takes down a helicopter and the pilots manage to jump out with their parachutes on time every fucking time, and if no one ever dies from guns or swords, then I see no reason why they wouldn't go on a mindless killing rampage for a little bit of fun. Can't hurt anybody.
Yeah, reverse psychology is a bitch indeed.
What the quiznack is this
They did something like this un Gi Joe the movie went duke was suppose to die and they change it and he went into a coma all because optimus prime die the year before
IIRC this was before the GI Joe movie. But yeah, this was back in the 80s when they had this whole thing about no extreme violence on TV with the TV code of good conduct, etc. They did this so that kids would grow up and be cool ... kind of like those kids that did Columbine. So that worked out real well I guess.
A me la versione americana non piace preferisco la giapponese poi ognuno ha i propri gusti😢
@shaider1982 Because in japan guns are illegal so it will be harder to kill massive number of people quickly although there are still stories of horrible school killings google sasebo slashing for example. Another reason as to why you dont hear school killing in japan is because japan has a regulation in which it prohibiting the identification of juvenile offenders so the story doesnt get as much coverage
SHIROGANE!!!
@kidcat3000 and why would people care? That's what I thought no one.
En Voltron todos iban a hospitales, nadie moría. Bah, si moría es porque resultaba ser un robot.
