    Thank you so much for your time and labor on this video. It seems like an inexpensive way of doing but it looks great when secured properly and painted. Thanks for sharing your ingenuity and skill.

    Very Nice! If u use a Rubber U Channel on the exhaust cut looks way better, and you can spray paint all in black! Here in brazil every body do this cuts and use rubber as finishing!

    I've used nylon twine to cut PVC pipe, I'd imagine it would cut that as well.

    Definitely a great DIY. Looks good too! I have a 2009 Mini Clubman this would look great on, EXCEPT, My rear bumper is 'squared' off at the bottom so in order to do this I would either have to cut and rebuild the lower center of my bumper cover, or find one from another model of Mini (which ain't cheap so that's out of the question..lol). I already have lower side skirts (complete with 'wings') I made myself using styrene house baseboards from Home Depot, and built a front splitter from an old abs sheet I got from someone for nothing. ;)

    • @OEMStez
      @OEMStez  2 года назад

      Aluminium will be nice, if you’re painting it let me know how it goes as painting aluminium can be fiddly

    • @williamh6547
      @williamh6547 2 года назад +2

      @@OEMStez painting aluminum is tricky ONLY because people do not properly prep it, if you clean it with metal cleaner, then sand the surface, clean again, then prime with self etching aluminum primer, THEN you paint. I have yet to have any of my aluminum projects chip, or peal. PREPARATION is the key. 👍

    Well done, bro!
    This was always in my mind when I had a modified VW Vento GT (Jetta III in the US), but never actually DID it
    Now that I have a Passat CC 1.8 TSI myself, I'm interested in this vid. :-)
    Did the black under-bumper part came off easily ? I did noticed there are a lot of plastic clips...
    Thanx in forward!

    • @OEMStez
      @OEMStez  Год назад

      Nice car - the clips do come off with some persuasion, they’re not that difficult to unhook but there’s just a lot of them. Hardest part is re-aligning them all when refitting. You can just do the mod on the car but much easier once it’s off. From memory there are a couple Torx screws as well, don’t rip it off until they’re out 😅 good luck mate

    I will be going for this you are genius and it looks clean as hell on the video. But its a shame that you skipped one important part at the beggining. Do you have any tips how to cut the cardboard so it fits car nicely? Or you were trying over and over again untill you got satisfying fitment?

    • @OEMStez
      @OEMStez  2 года назад +2

      Pretty much just trial and error yes, cut the contour gradually and hold it up against the bumper to check fitment. Hold it with as little pressure as possible to make sure the cardboard isn’t flexing as this will reduce accuracy, and you can shine a torch from the other side and look for gaps where light is shining through to get it perfect. Hope that helps 👍

      It will add no downforce. Purely cosmetic. This is added to the rear valence, which is not a diffuser.

    Bro, tell me, how did you go about getting the template ?

    • @OEMStez
      @OEMStez  2 года назад

      Just started with some cardboard pieces that I thought looked decent, tweaked size and shape until I liked how they looked, and then fine tuned the edge that sits against the car to make sure they were flush. You'll want 2 templates, one for the inner pair and one for the outer pair, as they sit slightly differently on the car. Very easy, just use some thick cardboard and play around a bit

  • @ToximGV
    @ToximGV 3 года назад +1

    This is actually bonkers, such a good idea, i have just finished doing this on my Audi A3 8P, looks pretty decent concidering it cost me like £5 and if i decide i dont like it in the future i can just buy a diffuser for £80. Cheap mods like this make me happy. I sanded my fins to 800 grit and i they where completely smooth, everything was pretty easy to do, the only thing that was kinda hard was getting rid of the texture, that was a pain... other than that im well chuffed :)

    • @danblades5893
      @danblades5893 3 года назад

      Is yours facelift 8p. Mins has the grey diffuser factory and it’s so hard to get the cardboard shapes

    • @ToximGV
      @ToximGV 3 года назад

      No mines the pre face lift so its smooth at the back, i actually wanted the facelift back but they arent interchangeable, it would however look really cool with these fins on, you should persevere and get them to fit, use cardboard and just keep making tempaltes till they fit nicely

    hello there

  • @just_passing_through
    @just_passing_through Год назад

    I think it’s time to call out the elephant in the room. You did not add a rear diffuser to your car. Your car came with a rear diffuser. What do you did was take off the rear diffuser that was supplied with the vehicle, screw some fins to that diffuser, and put that same diffuser back on… now with fins. Which ultimately serve no purpose. Fins add no downforce above a diffuser without fins, and are completely pointless.

    • @OEMStez
      @OEMStez  Год назад +4

      Correct, it’s a visual mod🗿a functional diffuser is not required on a daily driven Passat that averages 27kph
