In the Catholic Church you are not required to be Baptized again as long as you were baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit in any other Trinitarian Denomination.

So glad to see you embracing the traditions, Sam.
As a cradle Orthodox, I struggled with protestant challenges as a teenager, but couldn't just abandon my Serbian Orthodox Church, even though I had no solid answer. Praise the Lord, I later found answers, but I remember that state of limbo.
I know it's difficult to have your faith challenged, but the Holy Spirit leads us in steps we can handle, sometimes by timid steps, sometimes by leaps.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't hope you become Orthodox, but it's much wiser to hope the Holy Spirit, Comforter and Giver of Life, guide you however He sees fit.

I'm a minister in the Churches of Christ. I attended a Baptist School I had the reverse struggle you did. I was raised believing in baptism and struggled to see the other side of it. What I also struggled with was the fact that Jesus said you would know them by their fruits. I saw a lot of people that had good fruit in their life but could not understand how we could believe different things. I love your explanation of the thief on the cross, pointing out there are exceptions God makes but we are to live by his instructions and not the exceptions. I would often point out to some of my more hardcore brethren that the Roman Church in chapter 6 did not fully understand what baptism was or appreciate what baptism was yet God save them. As I speak every week I always ask for my message to not get in the way of his message. Peace and blessings.

Late to the party, but I just want to let you know that I'll keep you in my prayers, Sam. As a former radical Protestant (American Evangelical) turned Confessional Lutheran, I pray that the light of Christ will lead you to the truth. The Blessed Sacraments of the Eucharist, Confession, and Holy Baptism are such amazing gifts of the Gospel! I am so grateful to God that He led me to the proper understanding of them. I still struggle sometimes, especially with family members who try to lovingly 'correct' me, but now that I know the truth, I cannot let go of it. Whichever tradition God leads you toward, just know that this Evangelical Catholic is backing you 100%. In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity.
Grace and peace be to you and yours in Christ Jesus our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Fantastic talk brother! I’ve personally felt for years now that the Holy Spirit has been moving in a powerful way in all Christian Traditions. The Apostolic Churches (original Schisms) are in a spirit of restoration. Sincere Theologians are crossing the divide and getting closer to unification. Our separated Protestant brothers and sisters are gently being called to biblical orthodox doctrine. One Trinitarian Lord, one Faith and one Baptism. Jesus will soon have us all under one Fold!

i was saved & born again over 20 years ago when i was a teenager & only got baptized end of june this year. i can say this, i received the holy ghost when i accepted jesus, being baptized in the spirit, speaking in tongues & when i joined the state protestant church i had to be baptized in order to do so, knowing that this isn‘t the real baptism (sprinkling of some water by a pastor i don‘t even know if he is truly saved).
i got delivered of two demons last year, being freed from all sorts of demonic oppression, i’m not overstating when saying a new life began just then. that was also the time when god layed heavy on my heart to get finally water baptized & he granted me the kind of baptism i was always imaging, outside in a river by someone who is truly saved. i felt the holy spirit that day, he was there & he was pleased & i felt better simply because i followed the will of god & did what needs to be done.
i can‘t say that there was a renewing or regenerating though & my sins were forgiven long before. i‘m aware of that it has a spiritual meaning though nevertheless & it‘s more than a mere outwardly confession.
baptism can do a lot of things, some get delivered of demons who manifest before or after the baptism, some get freed of besetting sin, some get totally changed & some don‘t experience much or nothing at all, there is no rule of what happens.
god deals different with each individual, faith & expectation plays also a role. if someone doesn‘t believe that baptism has any power & believes it‘s only an act of obedience, chances are good it will only be that for this person.
my conclusion at this point is that the truth about baptism is somewhere in the middle of the various positions. it can be a total changing point in many ways, a powerful tool used by god to renew someones life & demons certainly fear it, therefore it can‘t be meaningless. on the other hand it must not have such a strong effect on everyone.
i‘m worried about sam though based on some of his statements, just because reformed baptists don‘t have it all right doesn‘t mean one should embrace the opposite side. how is this idiom in english again? eat the meat 🥩 & spit out the bones 🦴

Tough stuff to wrap one’s mind around. I am a baptized Greek Orthodox Christian and was obviously taught about the salvific, regenerative nature of water baptism. But, ever since beginning daily Bible reading over the past few years, I have struggled with the meaning of certain verses (including the seemingly contradictory verses you discuss in Acts). Thanks so much for giving your perspective (which I share) in the form of excellent Spirit-guided teaching.

Here's what I don't understand- I am waiting to be baptized (was supposed to be this month, but everything is shutdown here in NJ), but my life has completely changed over the last few years. I hate my sin, my behavior has totally changed, I don't watch wicked tv shows, movies, etc. anymore. All I pretty much do now is watch Bible studies and sermons. I also get very emotional when I see someone come to Christ or I see someone boldly proclaim Him publicly. How can I have this evidence of regeneration in my life, if water baptism is required for regeneration? Am I self-deceived?

I agree 100% that people of specific traditions will have their pet proof-texts. However, in my experience, the Orthodox never shy away from nor "explain away" any of those verses you mentioned. They are all embraced, believed, and preached. If I had the chance, I'd dialogue with you about the differences between "being forgiven," being gifted or "come upon" by the Holy Spirit, being sealed by the Holy Spirit, becoming a member of the Church, Christ's Body, as a covenant member, etc., etc. Often times these things coincide in time, sometimes not. Love you, Sam. Praying for your upcoming court dates.

@@shamounian You are right, I didn't express my point very well. What I was trying to say is that the various verses (and others) that you brought up don't say "that which is uniquely accomplished by baptism happened in the same way and to the same extent even without/before baptism." Of course there was faith, "conversion," repentance, forgiveness, manifestations of the Holy Spirit, salvation (as always, even WITH baptism, it's salvation in a particular sense, to a certain degree. This word has nuance). Great examples of the necessity of Christian baptism even in the face of "progress" before baptism are the conversion stories of both Paul and Apollos.
Also, the seal of the Holy Spirit (we call it chrismation, a separate sacrament) usually happens immediately following water baptism, but in the case of those already baptized with a Christian Trinitarian baptism (like both of your baptisms) who subsequently come into the Church, this seal could be years removed from one's baptism itself. Obviously this could not have existed in the NT or the generations following, because there weren't Trinitarian groups running around out of communion). However, there is an early history of re-receiving formerly-baptized apostates by means of re-sealing (chrismation).
SOOOO much more could be written about this, and has been written. Anyway, OF COURSE I see why Protestants focus on certain passages to make or confirm their case, and how they can understand those passages that way. That was my own position. I also know why they avoid or do great damage to other passages that disconfirm their case. However, I just don't see it going the other way. I don't see any of those or other baptism passages being problematic on the Orthodox position.

Isn't the Trinity the obvious conclusion from the below passage?
The Epistle of Ignatius to the Trallians
Chapter VI.-Abstain from the Poison of Heretics.
I therefore, yet not I, but the love of Jesus Christ, entreat you that ye use Christian nourishment only, and abstain from herbage of a different kind; I mean heresy. For those [that are given to this] mix up Jesus Christ with their own poison, speaking things which are unworthy of credit, like those who administer a deadly drug in sweet wine, which he who is ignorant of does greedily take, with a fatal pleasure leading to his own death.
I therefore, yet not I, out the love of Jesus Christ, "entreat you that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind, and in the same judgment." For there are some vain talkers and deceivers, not Christians, but Christ-betrayers, bearing about the name of Christ in deceit, and "corrupting the word" of the Gospel; while they intermix the poison of their deceit with their persuasive talk, as if they mingled aconite with sweet wine, that so he who drinks, being deceived in his taste by the very great sweetness of the draught, may incautiously meet with his death. One of the ancients gives us this advice, "Let no man be called good who mixes good with evil." For they speak of Christ, not that they may preach Christ, but that they may reject Christ; and they speak of the law, not that they may establish the law, but that they may proclaim things contrary to it. For they alienate Christ from the Father, and the law from Christ. They also calumniate His being born of the Virgin; they are ashamed of His cross; they deny His passion; and they do not believe His resurrection. They introduce God as a Being unknown; they suppose Christ to be unbegotten; and as to the Spirit, they do not admit that He exists. Some of them say that the Son is a mere man, and that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are but the same person, and that the creation is the work of God, not by Christ, but by some other strange power.

Ik this is 3 years later, but I hope you stil read the comments.
Allright so, I have a question about my understanding on this if you agree with that.
So I was baptized as a baby, and I now know that that isnt the baptism as it should be. So I will be baptized soon. But I didnt actually think baptism was a part of salvation.
So I got scared, really scared tbh. Not for myself, but for others whom I know believe Jesus has saved them, but have been baptized as a baby. So I watched your video and asked the Lord to show me his truth, but also give me an awnser for all the other people I just mentioned.
And I think the Lord gave me this insight: I know I have the Holy Spirit even though I am not baptized, I believe that I am saved if I die right now. I dont think those things are false. And as I was thinking about that I thought about the fact that God judges by the heart. So this is my conclusion correct me if Im wrong: Baptism is supposed to be a really crucial part in salvation, but because lies have spread a lot of people think otherwise. But because God is so loving, he looks at the hearts of the people who didnt get baptized the way its supposed to be, and they still get to go to heaven because they believe Jesus died for them and they gave their life to him. So for me that means that I should now preach to people of baptism the way it is supposed to be, because the way God means something is always better than we make it, but the people that have been baptized the wrong way and dont believe that baptism saves are wrong but still saved because they dont know better.
    Is that a good conclusion?
Loved your video btw, God bless you!

Acts 2:38 it’s the repentance in the name of Jesus (faith)that forgives your sins
Mark 16:16 is the belief that forgives you from your sins
1 Peter 3:21 it’s the clear conscience that forgives from your sins and the baptism symbolises this as a pledge to be United with with Christ (faith)
John 3:5 and mark 1:4 are John baptism not the baptism of the death+ resurrection of Jesus, which was later in the New Testament
Titus 3:5 the belief (faith)washes away sins (acts 10:43)
Acts 22:16 it’s the calling in his name that washes your sins through faith in his name as you can see the parentheses clear indicates that it’s the calling in his name that washes it
Romans 6 baptism is a declaration of faith and resurrection is represented as the new life we now live through the ‘repentance’ so it’s the repentance in Christ that saves you

@@k9sway why you are not reading everything in the verse but gives a wrong summary without analyzing the verse? 😎😎 Faith alone doesn't save you James 2:14-26
Baptism is John was not same as Jesus baptism but my point was that baptism of John was also for the forgiveness of sins mk. 1:4 same as Acts 2:38 that Jesus baptism is also for the forgiveness of sins... Be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins😎
Repent alone doesn't forgive sins at l faith alone doesn't forgive sins
It is believe repent confess and be baptized and live faithfully until death
Believe repent confess doesn't lead to salvation until baptism
Acts 22:16 your sins are washed away by baptism
Faith alone theology of Martin Luther is wrong. Faith alone means no repentance no confession and no baptism and live faithfully until death

@@JP-uz3nk I never understand why many Christian’s misinterpret James 2 it clearly saying that if someone says they have faith but nothing is being produced then there faith is dead as a true Christians if you genuinely believe you will naturally produce works based on faith, good works comes from genuine faith and that is seen by all Christian’s who genuinely believe in Jesus and not just say they believe

@@JP-uz3nk yes I never said faith alone is what saves you but the repentance and faith together you can’t have faith without repenting from your sins and in acts 22:16 ““And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’” You can see that the calling on the name of the lord is what washes away your sins it’s normal grade English with the ‘,’ after washing away your sins

    Dear brother... praise the lord.
I have a question, can u clear it for me? Please?
When I talk with Muslims, they quote duteronomy 18:18 and tell me that Mohammad is the prophet. I then tell them Mohammad is not the prophet mentioned.
Then they say jesus is the prophet mentioned and not god. I proved them that Jesus is god with bible verses.
Then they ask who is the prophet mentioned in the verse.
    Please answer my question sir.

Dt. 18:18 speaks of Christ. below are NT verses that show that it is Christ who fulfills this prophecy:
Lk. 24[10] & Jn. 14[10] Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does his works.
Jn. 1[45] Philip found Nathan’a-el, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
Jesus is the Prophet, the last Word of God to men, whereas all others up until him were not God’s final Prophet. When the Pharisees asked John the Baptist if he was “the prophet” he denied it. He was the “voice of one crying in the wilderness” not the last revelation of God to man-that is Christ and Christ alone.

Yes. Also Dt 18:18 has to be Jesus because he was an Israelite while mohammed was not.
