The final chapter of the 2021 #ToyotaSupra, the new 4-cylinder #Supra starts at $42,990, about $7,000 less than the 3.0 version. It also makes the #Toyota Supra about $10k more versus a #Toyota86.
What do you guys think about the $42,990 starting price of the new Supra 2.0?
It's at least 3k too high imo. Being under 40k would have made it more attractive.
Way too much!!! you can get a used M4 or ATS-V for that range.. this is a 27k car
Overpriced by 10k.
Thanx for the videos tho !! & bout the supra 2.0 i thought this one it was gonna come with a toyota engine & manual tbh 💯 since the 3.0 is bmw with a toyota logo 🙃. BUT it is ok looking & the idea of the inline 4 & rear wheel drive nice BUT!! Either dct OR manual OR something from toyota engineer so i can actually call it toyota💯. BUT that's just my personal opinion as a tuner💯.have a blessed day & can you pliz let me know anything bout acura !!. In my opinion & experience with cars thru out my whole life since 80's when i starte to work on car. toyota & honda are the top brands in the general. BUT what is your own opinion can you answer that honestly?
Better save that extra money for when you have to get those bmw repairs
2:36 “it will outrun any 86”
almost anything can outrun an 86.
A caravan can outrun an 86 lol
This made me laughed so hard because it’s true.
I will humbly remind you that the 86 is still more fun in the corners.
@@xFlared That is what people say with slow cars. Why not go fast and be fun in corners.
@@BrutalFates It is lighter, has a manual, and is more neutral in turns at legal speeds. More playful. Most reviewers point this out as well when comparing both. You cannot control a low speed drift in the supra like you can in an 86.
Dang new car prices are high. I dont think I will ever get a new car again
$42,000 is still too much for a base considering you can get a base model LT1 V8 Camaro starting at $35,000.
And then you're sitting in a plastic cheap POS rattlebox.
For $42000, I can get an electric bike for way less with way better mpg then the shitty camaro
Kyle T
Danny D and euro cars dont have cheap plastics and breaks overtime? Eventually endless money pits.
who would want a shit can camaro
If I were getting the 2.0, I'd just get a BMW z with the manual transmission. Thanks again for your videos!
Kirk Kreifels I didnt think even the BMW got a manual at this time. I checked the build site and didnt see it as an option.
tha idealist probably because the Supra’s iconic history. More expectation
What in Tarnation are you doing in here Kirk Kreifels ?? bmw/zupra is definitely NOT in the same field of reliability as the Lexus.. No this isn't a "Toyota" it's a BMW underneath... We all know this lol
You are totally right & let's don't forget how much the prices of parts cause I'm pretty sure there's not gonna be toyota prices to be honest. I guess !!
This rebadged 'Supra' already has recalls. Any BMW Z4 from previous 2 generations (before giant grills) is a better buy. You'll pay 1/3rd for a previous gen Z4, have manual & hold value.
Am I the only one who thinks 4 cylinder turbo motor Supra for 43,000 is a lot ? Esp. Since this is a super basic motor
Yeah I have a 255 hp 4 cyclinder base Kia stinger that I got used for $30k with only 1500 miles. It should be like $37k
Seems like a bit much to me but I am sure that very extensive and expensive market research was done before that move.
Might fill a gap in their offering.
Then again 50k for anything with a toyota badge is too much to me.
Different strokes for different folks.
A Miata RF in club trim with Brembo/Recaro package is $38k before discounts. We need a comparison.
@@lrod8692 It's actually 34k but maybe a fully loaded rf club is 38k.
$43k is a lot. A bit more than what I had predicted. Around $38k starting would probably sell better but at $43k that car is overpriced!!
For $40k there are better value enthusiasts autos
Z4M, previous generations, Corvette C4, C5, BMW E82 128i, all 10-25k depending on mileage.
I don’t think anyone in the market for a Supra is considering any of those cars
$43k will buy a really great Mustang GT performance pack or even a used GT350...with manual transmissions. I'd much rather have one of those than either Supra.
Are you on drugs the mustang GT preference pack 1,is 53k
Billionaire Ballers Club I have no idea what the "preference pack 1" is, but I just configured a base GT with performance pack and it was $42,270. And no I'm not on drugs, are you?
It'd be hard to find a GT350 for 43k, but there are definitely better cars out there for that price.
BlueDream I dunno, there is a 2017 Grey GT350 with Recaros and nav 18 miles away from me. It’s listed for $41,900. It has 35k miles on it, 1 owner and no accidents.
A two or 3 year old V-8 Mustang is a better buy !
Should cost 13,000 less at least
🤣🤣🤣
@@NeightrixPrime the 86 is overpriced as well tbh
A Toyota dealership let me do an extended 24 hour test drive of the 2021 Supra 2.0. Horrible! I received 2 speeding tickets even though I was constantly stressed about not overspeeding. I was averaging 18 mpg and no cargo or rear passenger space. Too much attention from thieves, I spent the whole night guarding the car. Ended up buying a 2021 Corolla LE sedan for 18k out the door and much happier. Yes it's a lot slower but it still handles great and it's fast enough for North American speed restricted roads. Plus the 1.8 NA engine is more reliable than the turbo 2.0 Supra engine. Double the fuel economy of Supra, spacious back seats, and huge trunk. I'm happy....
Dude. I thought the pricing was going to be a lot cheaper then 2020. A91 be around 40k. 3.0 mid 30s and then the well.. w.e that other one is high 20s.
This thing is still too expensive.
Fun fact, you can't drive this with the windows down, because the buffeting is incredibly severe.
Can't see out of it.
It's a BMW with the wrong logo on the back.
Chock full of poseur fake vents.
Can't lower the windows on a coupe on a nice day.
....yeah, fuck all of that. Maybe if it was $15k used.
Kyle Kyle The MK4 would be about 50k in todays money. Inflation prices are set to make the past seem more expensive and hide the fact that todays prices are actually way higher.
E M why do people think the Supra was an Affordable sports car? It really wasn’t even compared to the competition at the time it was always expensive
2.0 ain’t bad but i’d absolutely have to choose the 3.0.
So is the maintenance going to be like owning a bmw since it’s a bmw engine?
All true bmws come with 100% Maintenance included ;oil changes, brakes, rotors, ect . Not sure what Toyota includes with the Supra
Really? Might as well get the bigger motor.
Some people can't afford the extra 8k
IMO If you don't have a spare 8k for the 6 cylinder you definitely shouldn't be buying cars costing 40-60K.
But what do I know, I'm debt free & have bought all my cars pre owned with cash. Everyone does plastic payment, leasing, loaning, crediting these days, not me.
̈ for sure, imo the car should start less then 40k, like mid $30’s even. For example, when I test drove a Base 370Z and then a NISMO 370Z, the price difference was almost $15k. That NISMO was absolutely worth the $15k difference.
Skyline RS400 no it’s not. Nismo is overpriced
SchemReck have you ever driven one? I could list off all of the extras you get that are not on the Base or even the Sport models. But that wouldn’t convince you, I think you should go drive one for yourself.
Just was thinking, a 1987 Fox body Mustang with the 5.0 had 225 hp and 300 lb-ft. This 2.0 would handily outrun and out handle that Mustang, and I loved the 5.0 LX back in the day. A Supra back then was 230 hp from the I-6 turbo. We've come a long way.
I'm wondering if Toyota did the same "teardown" of the BMW 4 as they did with the 6? If it's reliability was up to snuff.
I mean. The 4 is basically the same as the 6 just with 2 less cylinders. Doesn't get as much attention so aftermarket is going to be small one way or another.
8:41 Jesus, I feel like I just got a speech by my mom with that finger wag😂😂😂.
No wireless phone charger, no 14 way power seats, no heated seats in this car. Those things are NOT expensive to offer for manufacturers. Greedy, cheap, Toyota mindset again. But then again, they have to bring in more profits in order to pay BMW for this car.
It's not a Camry. The car itself is them throwing a cheaper version at the market to throw up sales a bit including having the advantages of engine swapping it,tracking it,or it being a parts car for the 3.0 mk5.
I would definitely fork up the extra 8 grand for the 3 liter. It is good to hear someone tell it like it is when it comes to the 60k price tag of the C8.
60k? Better yet 75k. Its rare to ever find a C8 under 70k.
Should have been $39,995.
imo I’d say 35k
$40k on the high end but I'd say around $37-38k starting. $44k is absurd.
mrjjthor Thor I don’t know there’s so much competition for the money tho
Y’all ain’t getting a bmw for 35k Lmao 😂
Dam cheap ass Toyota owners.
That’s still alittle high , I would have made a pretty base version starting at 35,995
Those sunglasses... Lmao
I suppose the still-high price tag is factored in it still being a BMW interior and chassis. I'm not a hater or anything, but it almost feels like this car was DOA. Despite the vast swaths of RUclipsrs that bought one and modded them out thanks to the already existing BMW aftermarket tuning and development, and the hype there already was for the Supra to eventually make its return, it's been over a year since the "Supra" has returned to the states and I have not seen one on the roads or parked anywhere aside from inside a Toyota dealership where nobody can see it unless they go in (ex, most dealerships if applicable, have their best / newest cars on display for passer-by), or sat at a cars & coffee in the _important people_ section with all of the other big cars that organize to be at the meet. Idk if this car's going to quite "do it" for the enthusiast these were meant for... I think if people want a Japanese sports car, they'll have to gravitate to the new Nissan Z that's coming, assuming Nissan isn't in developing theirs with assistance from Mercedes or something (wouldn't that be a shock now that I think about it, a Nissan with a Mercedes interior 😂😂). I imagine the Japanese "feel" is not existent in this car. I wonder if Nissan can do it better.
255hp for $42k man what a deal 🙃
It'll outrun a brz or 86? That's really not saying much
He said civic R and GTI you nimrod
I’d hold out for a manual version. I can feel that it’s coming
Me too. I also think a manual is coming.
@Canadian RS3 but for some people it's also more fun!
Canadian RS3 couldn’t care less about winning drag races. I like the interaction of a manual gearbox.
@Canadian RS3 lots of people like shifting and being in control and it is more fun to people
@Canadian RS3 If you drive a modern car with a manual, you are already fully aware of the fact that you aren't driving the fastest version of said car. There's more to driving than 0-60 runs and lap times. Get another argument.
Great review, Sof! You'll have to review the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 !
i heard rumor that 4 CYLINDER BMW engines are prone to problems, i dont know if its true.. 🤷♂️ i guess 6 CYLINDER BMW engines is worth it..
*$43k will buy a really great Mustang GT performance pack or even a used GT350...with manual transmissions. I'd much rather have one of those than either Supra.* 😀
Ok
I have a MK4 supra, I owned a 2017 4cyl Z4 few years back and that thing was a bullet with that small turbo charged engine, nothing to complain abt! it is LOVELY to drive..only issue was bmw reliability but with toyota involved and engines being revised by the master TOYOTA i won't think twice about buying the new Supra as its Japanese revised BMW stuff! this makes a massive difference to me
People are really comparing a mustang experience to a BMW experience lol
Definitely like the wheels on the 4 cyli more. The 3.0 v6 truly does sound quite magnificent from factory though 👌 All in all, I wish the 4 cyli Supra costed a bit less. About $4,000 less.
1:09 "this car does have Enough power for you to do a burn out"
yeah, even a miata, and frs has enough power for that sofy lol
Yeah, I'd never take anything with a BMW engine. Too many friends with BMW engine problems.
id rather just get an STI. lets hope the nissan z can do better with the pricing.
I already got a few STIs, no car yet tho
Dang, I was hoping for it to be around $35K! Overpriced imo! Great video as usual
Supra 3.0 vs TLX Type S
How many Supra vids can you do, Sofyan?
The Toyota 86 is 30% less money , bad comparo ...
It’s really not a bad comparison though..
Thats the beauty of the 86 and BRZ relatively dirt cheap. Bought my 2019 BRZ brand new for a clean 29K thats a deal.
Dear Toyota if I wanted a BMW I would simply go to bmw. I will keep the gt86 over this every time, not a brz, not an frs. Toyota give us a product from Toyota that can be proud of! The gt86 is not a Trueno however we can take pride in carrying on the legacy. Something we cannot say for the Supra. Shame.
86/BRZ is more fun. Manual, lighter, and tossable at low speeds. Easy to maintain and no need for BMW parts which cost a fortune.
86/Brz is a broke high school student that took out a 10 year loan to afford type of car. No thanks
Dumb question: does the v6 in the Camry fit in this car? I would rather have a true Toyota.
Your thumbnail says 7k lower but your title in video says 8k. Which one is it sofyan?
It drives, handles, and feels like a German car because it _is_ a German car. 😉
It’s a German car disguised as a Japanese car
This car is such a rip off lol
Kyle The MK4 would be about 50k in todays money. Inflation prices are set to make the past seem more expensive and hide the fact that todays prices are actually way higher.
I don't think it's worth it id rather get a civic type r or the wrx sti both are cheaper have more performance and have a manual gearbox.
That’s exactly what I said. The STI in particular is a solid AWD car.
Kevin Norris the STi isn’t worth it brand new it’s a dated car
only if youre a boy racer
Also, practicality
Good points. At $43k I'd rather get a Type R, STI, or Golf R.
Still mad they didn’t just put the RC 350 F sport engine in there snd just tuned it
Can't do much at all to that vs the i6 in the mk5 already.
People justifiably shun this car due to its German engineering. Given that European vehicles are lease machines, it may be smarter to lease this Supra than to own.
N58 is a very reliable engine so far. R&D of a toyota I6 would costs millions if not a billion for Toyota. The B58 in the Supra is a collaboration with Toyota, so the engine lives up to Toyota's standards despite being badged as a BMW engine. Look at the breakdown PapadakisRacing, an actual engineer being impressed by the whole setup. Instead of just being a parrot, listen to the professionals who all praise this car. From the styling, to the sound, to the build quality. The only thing that this modern Supra misses is a manual option.
@@IguanaFilmArts For me, it's not even that. It just loses the prestige of the Supra name, not being made entirely by Toyota, so no thanks.
42K.... Seriously, in Norway its 65K usd, welcome to the land of emission tax i guess lol
Europe’s prices are fucked up
It's 170k USD in my country LOL
Those prices are absoLUTEly insane LOL
100k usd in Portugal, gotta feed the socialists
@@jonathantan9246 what country.
They should just slap a turbo on the gt86/BRZ instead of making this 2.0 supra 🤷♂️
If your going to consider a brand new 3.0 Supra, I would just get a slightly used Lexus LC500. You can get one with 15K-20K miles for $60K. Then you get a V8 and just under 500 HP. Way nicer car.
tha idealist the LC is just under $100K new. But that car is so much nicer than the Supra. In my opinion, the LC should have been the new Supra.
@@Paulog1990 it would get walked by everything just like the normal LC does already nor is it tunable. Don't think it would've worked as a supra in any case.
Would you pick BMW M240 (2door) over the Supra?
Yes because you get a manual option and rear seats
A true bmw and a lot more options
There goes the argument that the supra has to have a straight 6 engine.
without the 42k I couldn't be a master driver
For 40k? FK8 type R hands down. Toyota really screwed the pricing on these.
FBO 230i (same engine) w/ stock turbos was pushing 300whp with a Stage 2 BM3. I think this will be a good option for those who want to save money.
could probably mod an 86 to match or exceed the supra at a fraction of the cost
...and own something with heritage that's fully built by a Japanese company.
Can make a $1500 dollar Honda to match or exceed the 86 at a fraction of the cost
@@porschegt2346 what about the sound?
Lol when you can get a v6 in a Camaro for under 30k why on earth would you pay 42k for a 4 cylinder.
Would have been a cool retro marketing pitch, if Toyota would have taken this platform but more different styling, and just named it the Celica. But beafing up the Supra in hp to justify having three sports cars.
Without a manual this will never be a replacement for my 86. It’s part of the value for a driver. If they ever give it a manual, I’ll pay much closer attention.
The Supra 2.0 is really a Celica 😂
I would take an all-trac turbo celica over this car.
Not to trash any Supra fans but what’s the demand for this car when a 4 cylinder mustang makes over 300hp for under 30 grand ?
Toyota sports cars: a Subaru powered car with no turbo &no power, or a BMW with no manual.
When is McLaren GT's review coming. I saw it coming on Instagram.... Waiting for it anxiously
Posting this Friday!
N
you can still get a 370z thats 20 grand cheaper and faster w/huge aftermarket support to still blow this thing out of water today.
Comes with a manual too :)
Wait till nissan drops its nuts on toyota like they always do.
400z baby
the fact you had to compare it and its a BRAND NEW CAR and the z is supposedly "outdated" is just another reason to wait for the 400z
I have a big decision to made, either I buy the 2nd hand 2019 3.0 335hp supra or the 255hp brand new. The 3.0 has a mileage of 17,000km and cost a bit higher. Unfortunately the 380hp 2021 version isn’t available here in EU.
Great video. When are you and Alex auto live cast coming
Save the extra 8 grand and get the 3.0, it’s worth it. Or you can spend 4K from the 8k you saved and get the 2.0 to 400hp. They are both the same car if you look at it
These exhaust sound reviews need to be in review from now on!
That $8,000 price is so stupid who would do something like that
I would still love both! ❤️
So I played with Toyota's "Build Your Own" for the Supra 2.0T. There's really only one option and it's a tech/safety package that costs a bit under $4K. I predict that nearly every Supra 2.0T that is sitting on dealer lots will have the tech/safety pack and real world MSRP will be closer to $47K.
However I wouldn't buy a 3.0 Supra without the best stereo I could get anyway. If Toyota/Subaru dare to put a version of Subaru's 2.4T in the next 86/BRZ then I would buy that over a 2.0T Supra in a heartbeat.
They still don't have the same bravado as the 90s supra with the 2jz. Loving them all the same
here in Germany the base price for the 2.0 Supra = 61000 $ ( 54000 Euro ), until now i not see one Supra here outside from Stuttgart.
Considering the Porsche Cayman has a 4 cylinder and is almost $20,000 more, the Supra 2.0 is a great deal.
I really like the sound of the 2.0T Supra. It sounds sporty and appropriate for a sports car. But if purchased the 2.0T, I would always be wondering if I should have purchased the 3.0T model.
To expensive for the horse power.
People forget that it's still a BMW product no way in hell it would be sold under 40k
But according to Toyota and people who like this car, it isn't even a BMW..
@@richicamacho7989 Except every label around the car says "BMW".
If it weren't a Z4 it would be real tight. Still dope but tighten up Toyota make ur own joint
Oops. The white car at the bottom of your thumbnail is a Toyota 86, not a Supra.
The car altogether is way over priced? The base model should offer the v6 and the upper model should have at least 450hp. For 40k I would wait for the new Z. For the loaded v6,I’ll take the corvette all day long at 60k.
I actually waited to cross shop this with the high Performance Package Mustang but you can get a premium one for 43k, and this starts at 42k. The Mustang is much quicker and more premium, I don’t think the price point is good
So getting a 2.0 4 Cyl is basically like its a Celica
How are both of these cars after taxes and etc? 50k for a 3L supra is waaaay to low
It will not outrun a type r, and in the track the type r will smoke it... type r keeps up pretty good with the 3.0
For real lol I legit laughed
I'll go with the 2.0 if it was manual.
@12:10 as a european watching you pass that car from the right side gets me confused
You're not supposed to do that here, either. People do it because clueless retards sit in the passing lane forever. You get your license as a prize at the bottom of a cereal box when you turn 16 here.
No doubt this version is gonna handle way better than the 6 cylinder, but 42k is outrageous for this!
If u thought that 6 cyl price tag r way too much... Here in Indonesia tagged at 150.302 in USD (on the road). Greeting to u all...
255 hp to the wheels. 300 to the crank
For those fans of the BRZ/GT86 instead of buying this, they'll think of the mods you can do for $15k to a BRZ and that will be quite a lot, including a few carbon fibre body parts. No contest really.
And it just occurred to me, this 2.0 will only appeal to chicks who understanding nothing about cars, don't care about exhaust notes but like the look of this thing and won't see a point in paying for the 3.0 version.
I would not even consider the 2021 Supra 2.0...just get one of the leftover 2020 Supra with the 3.0 engine. Dealers are significantly discounting them now due to the “improvements” on the 2021MY.
8k for and extra 2 cylinders sounds worth it to me still can’t afford either
Why do I get a feeling that even Veloster N would be about or faster than 2.0 Supra?
The B48 should respond well towards tuning if already does in a Mini.
Are you paying bmw service costs or Toyota service costs?
The supra simply doesn't deliver the goods for the price range. Rather have a 86 with $15k in my pocket instead of a $42k 2.0 Turbo.
There are actually 3 choices. The 2021 2.0, the 2020 model and the 2021 3.0. In that order by price and horse power.
how does the firm ride compare to the firm drive of a 370z sports??? Is it more harsh or not as harsh as a 370z firmness?
Why in the world would you spend $42k on a 2.0? Buy an 86 or brz put a turbo in throw some nice equipment on it and still walk away with $5k less spent...
Toyota wont fix it, it's not even their car for the window buffering
