  • Check out this super fun winter holiday icebreaker perfect for your first day with a new class. Snowball fight works great with large classes and really starts the first day of an English language class off with a bang with tons of group energy and high student talking time (STT).
This will probably work better for younger learners, but it can definitely be used with adults, too.
Icebreakers in ESL are all about getting your students up, having fun, and learning about each other. If you have a new class coming up, give it a shot and let me know how it goes in the comments.

It would be even better if you make videos about online classes which we all have during this pandemic disaster.
Some of these techniques doesn't work if you transfer them to the online platform where you are not physically near the students.

I have a question. if Student A gets his own answer sheet back in the fight, how do we go about it then?

It depends on what kind of questions you ask. I think A2 and up is fine, but it’s all about the type of icebreaker questions you ask
