I've been leading in a remote environment for a while and always tend to search for meeting content to build better connections with my teams. This video had more logical, meaningful direction than 100 others "icebreaker" content played. I needed this!! Thank you!! I'd like to view more just like this. Building strong teams virtually is a difficult task with so many personalities meshing together!!
Ruth, this comment is epic. Such a tall compliment. Thank you. I'd love to send a copy of my book, How to Make Virtual Engagement Easy. On me of course as a small thanks for the kind words. Feel free to send my Chief of Staff, Kimberly, an email with where to send it if you are interested: kim@weand.me
Perfect timing. Starting off the winter coaches meeting with the intent to have them connect and to help them see the value of connecting their teams as they start their new season. Thanks as always!❤
Fantastic! Love it when a video happens to be just perfectly timed!
What I understand Chad was talking about. This system is an excellent way to get to know your audience. Using this system can flush out what questions members of the audience may have about why they are there or members of the audience provide could interesting content, in-house or virtual. If I am in a workshop or lecture, the facilitator starts the meeting with, "let's begin the meeting by starting with..." I immediately shut down. This workshop is worth its weight in gold! Thank you, Chad!
Beautiful, Elton! Great way for you to get to know the audience, AND the true magic and impact of this method comes in the connections made between participants. Engagement for the rest of the gathering will guaranteed go up if Connection Before Content is done well to meet these three criteria 👍👍
Once again Chad, great connecting content! I have started calling Icebreakers, CBC activities.
Simple framing with a powerful shift in purpose!
Another great video. Seriously, on target.
I just sent you an email with a couple of photos from my board meeting where we used the WeConnect cards. It was very well received. Thank you!!
The photos were so fun to see! Always pumps me up to see the creative and colorful ways my ideas manifest on the planet. Thanks for actually taking a moment to share!
Love this Chad. Ever since hearing Connection before content so many things have come back to thinking connect first.
I love the quick easy conversation idea to connect of downloading participants thoughts... It gives speakers a way to listen to participants, giving them the floor and honoring their expertise.
Now... Can I just remember all the goodness packed in your videos???
Thanks. 🤟🎉
Ha! No need to remember it all. Just picking one or two things to experiment with and "logging it into" your calendar for when you'll want to remember it most is a great system to drip/apply learnings throughout the year. True of all learning, not just the nuggets from the channel.
@@chad.littlefield truth... More goodness. Logging it /being intentional. ❤️❤️❤️
bro, this is amazing!
So glad you found this to be true! And welcome to the channel! Heaps and heaps more where this one came from :-)
I actually got this video recommended in my home feed (but now we know who you’re optimising your videos for :P) - watched it as I really like your content! Well done, thanks for the great tips 👌
Haha! I don't know that I'm really that smart in my optimizing, but I'm glad you discovered the channel, Moritz! Welcome. What do you think caused the algo to pop this into your home feed?
@@chad.littlefield Ok then I might have interpreted too much into your words (sorry that's my inner Marketer coming through!) The explanation is quite easy: The algorithms know pretty well what I like - be it RUclips or any other Social Media platform. And I do enjoy your videos and watched a lot of them :)
@@moritzlang7984 love hearing that! I probably need some of your marketing wisdom on RUclips! Let me know if you see any lovely opportunities 😊
i love this
I love that you love this! 😊
The CIA even?! And here I was thinking it was just the KGB that loves icebreakers.
"Share about a crime that was especially meaningful to you." Thanks for the laugh. On a serious note, I have noticed that no matter what the acronym representing a group of people, just about everyone "under" the acronym has a desire to be seen/heard and respected. Connection probably does happen to a high degree in the KGB bahaha...but perhaps not with methods I'd recommend.
I think a really great icebreaker-probably the actual BEST (so far...)-is to play human knot. And especially if there are hundreds of people. And lots of chairs. And lots of curmudgeons. SO FUN!
Then again, no.
What struck me most here today was the word "icebreaker" itself. It makes me cringe as well. And I think there is a reason (or reasons) for that. In this moment, however, it occurs to me that there is an implication to it right out of the gate: that people and groups and cultures are icy/cold as the default, and furthermore that the solution to such icy coldness in their Grinch-like hearts is "breaking" something. That is, the word itself implies TWO NEGATIVES: "You are COLD and I need to BREAK you." If someone implied that to me, I'd... well I'd cringe. And feel resistant-yea, even curmudgeonly.
Not exactly a strong starting point.
As you and I both know, given the opportunity, most people are NOT cold. They don't need to be "broken" to connect. They WANT to connect. They ENJOY it. So "connection" gets at the POSITIVE in who people are and what they desire, rather than some notion of what is wrong with them and needs (my) fixing.
What do you intend to achieve at work? As a young programmer my intention was to get tf out of the icebreaker exercise so I can get back to coding. Now I am older and need to communicate more than just pure productivity
I actually LOVE this example, Greg. I'm curious having been the person trying to escape (crap) icebreakers...what did you think of the video and the reframing and focus on connection to purpose? Useful? Less cringe inducing? What would make it even more compelling for other "young programmers" like your past self?
Help me with my attitude through icebreaker l feel a new person
I'm stuck. I'm leading a Zoom ornament painting event for coworkers and need more creative/artsy icebreakers. Any help? Anyone?
