  • Hear how seeking for the truth leads to one man's conversion to the LDS Church.
    This journey to becoming a Mormon started when he was a young kind in Cyprus, Texas. He visited different churches and asked many people what they thought the truth was but he still wasn’t able to find exactly what he was looking for.
    During this time, Mitt Romney was running for President of the United States and “The Book of Mormon Musical” was really popular. So Mormons became the talk of the town where he was from.
    He started working at a restaurant where he met a Mormon girl who eventually invited him to church with her.
    At church, he met the sister missionaries and began investigating the church. After he prayed about the Book of Mormon and came to learn of the Plan of Salvation and baptisms for the Dead, he knew that the LDS Church was the church of God on earth. He was baptized soon after.

    I started investigating since practically all my life something was guiding me towards the LDS church, but ignored it since I didn’t know anyone that was LDS nor was that close to God. Until I wanted to get baptized as Christian funny how I felt that there was always something better and I walked in the church (LDS) to get out my chest about that something better and little did I know there was. It all clicked and came together everything I wanted in a church and strongly felt like home ect. Now this is my happiness and it literally saved my life. Obviously there’s always has to be critics on things that are even good, so I honestly don’t care what people say to change my testimony it’s my life and I know how much happiness and miracles I’ve received as a follower of Christ. #myhappinessnotyours

      @@sarahturner4148 no it hasn't. Name a person in the public eye that has? It's impossible to disapprove it since there are hundreds of questions. FAIR at BYU acknowledges the question as legitimate. When someone tell me not to read something that's when I do.
      This channel said they would have a CES letter debunking video. but they won't because responses will get torn apart. I believe they want to skip over it so they don't give true believers serious questions they didn't know about.
      If you're a true believer then the letter should only strengthen your testimony. Give it a glance see what the fuss is about. Don't take my word for it or anyone else's.

      J San, the LDS Church teaches the King Follet Discourse. From Joseph Smith said that Jesus was once an exaulted man on a planet and because he did good works he got to be a god. This Goes against the bible with more scripture than i can count. Brother i pray you understand that mormon teaching is an antithetical imposition of the bible Isaiah 43: 10 "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me." Jesus is Lord i pray you seek out Scripture and see that truth in Christ is better than Tradition from mormonism. They may be kind, but they teach a false Doctorine similiar to what was happening in the first century in the Church in Galatia. Read Galatians 1, Paul says because they were changing the laws of God that gentiles were required to be circumcised for religious practice after the law had been fulfilled and The Greek Word the apostle paul uses for Any Church That makes changes to the gospel as "accursed" but it's Koine Greek Original Translation is "anathema". Which means the farthest distant darkness away from God. I beg you as a brother, you may have been around unChristlike Christians please Come back to the Truth, but don't take my word for it, but Scripture alone, God says to live off Sola Scripture or Scripture Alone. And Scripture is entirely in opposition to Mormon Theology I say this with love

      @@Cyber_Cowboy Frankly I find the Letter to be rather poorly researched and sourced. While a few of the presented questions rise to the level of pertinence, mostly it contains previous debunked assumptions or just plain dishonest presentation of documentation.

      Or you could go straight to God's word for the answer! Praying is great but The Holy Spirit speaking to us is confirmed by God's word and his word alone! Seek the truth! God says thy word is true! That has to be our standard for truth! We can pray and get a feeling that we interpret as an answer or the Holy Spirit speaking to us, but unless his word confirms it it isn't truth!

    Lmao. "They were all sitting together" is the most accurate thing I've ever heard. Back in California we all sat together for every meal. Didn't pray or anything like that but we just stuck together. Jocks, band geeks, skaters, nerds. We all just felt close. I miss that. I haven't felt a sense of community since I left the church. Maybe it's time to go back. I want my kids to have that.

      Yes!!! Mormons are not perfect, but many of us have experienced so many good fruits and spiritual witnesses and blessings in our lives because of our testimonies. There ARE answers and rebuttals to all the questions and attacks on the church. We don't have to be shamed or bullied about how we feel and what we choose to believe. I also kept praying and searching through my questions, but I also kept the commandments and the promises I had made to the Lord throughout my search. It took over a year, but the answer came and I feel stronger than ever. All of the best things in my life come from my testimony of Jesus Christ and following His example the best I can.

    Quite a few years ago I was using a weedeater to cut around steaks not the meat steaks, when an older gentleman saw me & approached me. He made an introduction & said my name is William Frank Shepard and I want to ask you a question. I see you’re married do you love your wife? I responded by telling him I love my wife and our little baby girl, and we have another one in the oven! He then tells me are you aware that families can be together forever? That was the start of my conversion. I was so confused as well as disobedient, that it took me a dozen years to do my covenants @ the Las Vegas temple of our Lord. I have advanced and understood heavenly father‘s plan of salvation! I do not have as much turmoil & have the opportunity to help construct the anchorage Alaska temple. Received a call from President Foust as a missionary to help construct the temple. I told him the threefolds of the church are: wash, starch, and iron. Little humor there folks. What better way to perfect as saints then in a temple. Afterwords President Hinckley comes to dedicate the Temple my wife and some of our older children made the cover of Ensign magazine While I was inside of it at heavenly father’s front room. There were 10 maybe 12 people in there and President Hinckley comes around to shake hands. He gets to me with whiskers on my face and says whom are you. You while I was inside of it at heavenly father’s front room. There were 10 maybe 12 people in there and President Hinckley comes around to shake hands. He gets to me with whiskers on my face and says whom are you? I am elder Ronald Hiler. Yes we know of you brother Hiler. A job well done. I thought I must’ve done something really bad for them to know of me. More humor there folks. I responded I’m trying to have the Porter Rockwell look. A small laugh and he moved on. In closing I must say had it not been for my loving wife Kitty and the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints I would not be upon this earth. We must remember spiritual progression makes a major difference!

    Thanks a lot for sharing! I love your channel!
    I met the Church in San Diego, CA, back in 2009. I was renting a room from a member. I got into trouble when I lost a job and the church helped me to find a new one and I got a lot of new friends there. I remember my first missionaries, Sister Bell and Sister Todd. We met at a youth event when we played football with pillows :) That church didn't seem quite churchy as compared to the Russian Orthodox church, but I was absolutely fascinated by the San Diego Temple. I saw it in my dreams a couple of times. And all I knew about Mormons was that they were brave guys who had come and built Salt Lake City in a lifeless desert. I embraced the Book of Mormon, and the more I read the more questions I had. And I still have. At first I couldn't wrap my mind around the fact that apostles could be modern and that the Twelve Apostles mentioned in the Bible were not the only people called apostles. But the doctrines of pre-existence, Kingdoms of glory and Plan of Salvation felt so true. I prayed and thought I'd received that answer that the Book of Mormon was true. At least, it's as much of a scripture for me as the Bible. However, as I was in California and that trip was the brightest trip of my teenage years, that feeling could be mixed up with a kind of traveller's excitement. So there were times when I looked into other religions and tried to answer the question: why not Orthodox/Catholic/Lutheran.. And I found rational answers, based on mind rather than feelings. After that I met tens of missonaries here in Russia, saw lots of temples in Europe, attended a wedding of an ex-missionary in the Netherlands, and this year I've attended a youth conference in Turkey. And I can really say that the church does feel like home, whatever country you come to.

He then asked do you love your family which my response was I would die for my family although I preferred to be around for them! The following words were what caught my attention most” hey boy are you aware that families can be together forever” A great starting point. I state this to all mankind had it not been for my wife Kitty and the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints I would not be upon this earth! I am very thankful and More then grateful for the covenant that I hold and honor doctrine and covenants 132. Wow, such an amazing testimony, Kwaku! You have a stronger base than some of us who were born into or were under the age of 8 years old ever have! Your story is a bit similar to my Dad's conversion, except that he just knew that the restored church will come or is somewhere in another land! When he heard the magic words, "This is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ," he just was ecstatic and wanted to be baptized right then and there! But you and I know that he needed to take the missionary lessons, come to church first, and voila! My Mom was so opposed to it until 4 months later she too was baptized with one of my sisters! All four of my living siblings were baptized at different times/years, my Dad never forced any of us to be baptized, except for me which was kind of a default that when you're 8 you will be baptized...you know all these things but just like any other "candidate" for baptism, I was also interviewed by a member of the bishopric because one of my brothers was the branch president and he didn't feel like it was fair for him to interview his own sister! To each his own, really! But, yes, your testimony is so great and your conversion was not so easy! Thank God for the leaders of the Apache Native Tribe! May we all press forward and endure to the end!

      @WC LOL. I believe I am taking to a brainwashed person here. You sound like someone in a cult. Just like many others who have left. I pray that kne day tour eyes will be clear and you will see the truth of the lord Jesus christ.
      Because the reality is you are in bondage. You do not even know the scriptures. Heavenly parents??? That's no where in the Bible. We have an heavenly father who sent his Son to die for you. Both of them are not separate. They are both together God. They have existed for all eternity, they have no wives. Any heavenly mother you worship is a man made godess. The one true church is made up of people. There is no LDS in scriptures. They tell you this to fool you so you can't leave. The LDS was invented in the 1800s meanwhile christ and his apostles had a church in the 1st Century AD. if you are really smart and want to know the truth. Read church history, MOST ESPECIALLY READ THE SCRIPTURES(BIBLE) READ HOW THE LDS WAS FOUNDED AND THE TROUBLES OF THE FALSE PROPHET JOSEPH SMITH. You will realize that you are in error. I know they might have also told you any body who says this to you is false. But at least I know you are not a robot. You are a human being find the truth for yourself.

      @WC What, my goodness I weep for you. This here proves how toxic your cult is. Now I truly Beleive that the LDS is a cult. So you mean I'm in sin because I'm not part of the LDS. Is that what you were told? I feel for you. How can you be rid of error when you are told you can't be saved from outside the church. It's a tool to keep you trapped brother. I would suggest you watch videos of ex mormons and how they were free. The fact that you keep responding to me and in caps shows my words are fighting something in you bit your brainwashing is rejecting it. Deep down you know the truth.
      I will post the scripture for you hopefully it helps you. My heart actually bleeds for you that you are in such deception. Normally some of your members say that anyone in any church is ok but im happy at lesst you are honest. Because that is what you are taught.
      See this Romans 10:9 "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
      That is how you are saved, that is true repentance. Repentance has nothing to do with the LDS or Joseph Smith. Or heavenly mothers or infinite God's. Just Jesus Christ alone. All have sinned and have come short of the glory of God but we are freely redeemed in christ Jesus alone. Please don't be fooled. I really hope you read your Bible and see the truth in it and how it differs from what you are taught and what you practice in your church.
      I know you will not automatically leave bit I hope you have something to think about and that a seed has been sown. Remember I am not preaching that you join my church or organization. I am preaching so that you may find the true christ.

      Same is true with me. As a Methodist growing up in the South, we'd go to church, hear all about the trinty in the sermon, then at 2 p.m. we'd have dinner and take potshots at what we'd heard the preacher talk about. He could blabber all he wanted about how water could be ice, liquid and steam at varying times, but we weren't buying it. Or about a feller who could be a son to his father, a father to his son and a husband to his wife, all at the same time, but who was _his_ father, and who was _his_ son, and who was _his_ wife? Is he _sure_ he wanted to go down that road? No, I reckon not! Before a person could be a preacher, he had to go to theological school and get a piece of paper. But many returned LDS missionaries knew a whole lot more than that feller with the paper on his wall!

      Joseph Smith SAW GOD (allegedly), and he said not one word about the beings he saw (God and Jesus) as being spirits or A spirit. All Joseph said he saw were beings of "flesh and bone". Do I need to prove it to you?
      If God is the Creator, he can choose to "appear" as anything he chooses, be it a spirit, a dove, a burning bush or a talking donkey. Satan appeared to Eve as a talking snake. If Satan can do that, why is it unreasonable to assume that God can appear as anything he chooses?

      @Timothy Coll I believe you confusing things. In LDS Doctrine we do indeed believe that there are three members in the Godhead, God the Eternal Father mostly common called Elohim in the Old Testament, Jesus Christ, known as Jehovah in the Old Testament, and the Holy Spirit for whom we do not have a revealed name.
      We do believe that Jesus was born into mortality, and is the literal begotten Son of God, but that He existed as a Spirit member of the Godhead before his birth, much as the Holy Ghost is now. So while we believe He was born of Mary, that does not make Him a created being in the way that doctrine has been explained to me.

    • @brettmajeske3525
      @brettmajeske3525 4 года назад +1

      @Timothy Coll Well if I haven't been indoctrinated after being a member for fifty years, serving a mission, attending the temple regularly for most it, it isn't going to happen now.
      The official missionary discussion version of the Godhead as taught by the LDS Church, is yes three individual members of the Godhead. Three people, two of which currently have bodies, one which does not. Jesus was the spirit known as Jehovah, when He did not have a body, but gained one after being born to Mary.
      The Hebrew word used in Genesis is Elohim. Now most Christians seem to think Elohim and Jehovah are two different names for God. In LDS theology Elohim is God the Eternal Father, whom we believe has a perfect body, and Jehovah is the pre-mortal Jesus Christ.
      English Bibles are funny as they often do not make it clear which Hebrew word for God is being used. Mostly LORD all caps is for Jehovah, but not all translators are clear on the issue.

      @brettmajeske3525 4 года назад +2

      @Timothy Coll Well, except for my time in the MTC, I've never been to Utah. I have heard stories about how weird the cultural is there. Remember, the majority of LDS members live outside the US, and a majority of those who do live in the US live outside of Utah. So the LDS in Utah are a minority of the whole Church. I have never heard of anyone shunning ex-members outside of Utah. Indeed Utah transplants often remark on how friendly and open the ward is when they move here, and that has been true of every ward I have ever belonged to.
      My sister, who is an academic sociologist, thinks that a recently published study on regional cultural differences helps explain. Utah, as a regional culture independent of LDS membership has been identified as having a strong persecution complex. Institutionally the culture seems be that of being targeted for being different. This becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as many Utahians only seem to truly trust close family, and take separations within that family as a close attack.
      This is not limited to religious affiliation either, there has been research on the effect of changing political parties from that of one's parents, and Utah is the state wherein families are most likely to shun the dissenting member. Practically every family in my ward is either part member or has someone who has left. Makes no difference to how anyone gets treated.
      We have even had non-members give opening and closing prayers at relatives baptisms, which some Utah transplants were sure was against "the rules". It isn't. Just like white shirts isn't a real thing. It is apparently an Utah culture issue.
      I really do not understand why you think the LDS Church would care enough to issue a death threat, that sounds a little conspiracy theory to me.

We should seek truth always correct? Wouldn't you want to know if you were following a false Christ? A Christ who can't save? I speak only out of sincere love for you and for anyone following a false gospel. And yes, the way we interpret scripture with scripture is by matching up passages and putting them against eachother. If Paul says one thing that sounds like it means something in particular but later completely contradicts himself, that first thing he said obviously didn't mean what we thought it did. So we absolutely do need to interpret scripture in light of other scriptures. That is very important, and understanding the true context of the passage as well! Things can be taken out of contexted or proof texted but if it contradicts something else in scripture it is clearly not being understood properly. Does that make sense? My concern is that the Mormon church contradicts scripture in very important aspects. Not things that don't matter or that we just won't know until we get to Heaven, but things we can plainly know by reading the word of God! Again I mean no Ill will towards you and wouldn't take the time out of my day to comment these things if I didn't truly believe that by doing so I am speaking the truth and leading you to the word of God which is truth.

    I love hearing conversion stories. My parents joined the church so I was born in it and I became converted when I was a teenager. It's interesting that you said there are so many rules. I see them as guidelines on how God lives that help us to become more like him. He gives the laws and He lives the laws and wants us to learn those same laws. It's all about self control right? The Biblical Christians can't "explain Christian doctrine." They explain hellenized "Biblical Christian" doctrine that came out of the dark age to explain away their lack of authority and loss of the holy apostleship. Thereafter, any effort to preserve the religion was all in vain.
      God's plan with Israel has always been to scatter them and gather them in from the limits of the Earth. What the Gentile nations have done in between that time has no merit whatsoever, and the Restoration of the Gospel commenced God's plan to once again establish a covenant people to prepare for their Redeemer's 2nd Coming and Millennial reign upon the Earth. Meanwhile all the Biblical Christians continue to do is stand on the outside looking out.
      Your allegation that Kwaku "went to a belief system that suited your convenience/comfort" is an attack on his power to have faith in principles that you as a "Biblical Christian" know absolutely nothing about. To me that is what cowards do, attack others about things, that they truly know nothing about.

    • @davidstout6051
      @davidstout6051 2 года назад

      @@jonathanettinger6970 Basic to your reply is the conviction that the LDS has a lock on the truth. Rather than get into a pointless argument about that, I would simply point out that the vast majority of the world’s 2.4 billion Christians believe that their denomination is true. If you think people go to other churches simply because of personal preference you should sit down with someone from an evangelical or Pentecostal church and listen to their stories. My point is that one can hold to one’s own convictions without disparaging those of others. I would suggest you read “The Cross and the Switchblade” by David Wilkerson to see how powerfully and truly God is working in the Assemblies of God. (Interestingly, Elder Holland is good friends with their General President.)

    • @jonathanettinger6970
      @jonathanettinger6970 2 года назад

      @@davidstout6051 When you say "lock on truth", what do you mean?
      I'd certainly hope that people believe the church they attend is the correct, true church, otherwise they're setting aside truth in favor of something else.
      Yes, the position of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that we are the true church, the church of actual authority and direction from God, but that's not the same as thinking "we have all the truth, no one else has any". In fact, 1. We definitely DON'T have all of the truth. At the least, there is much truth God has yet to reveal. 2. It would be patently absurd to say no one else has *any* truth.
      But that word, truth, has been contorted beyond imagination. If you believe something is the truth, it's your belief, but that doesn't mean it actually IS truth. Likewise, there is much truth of our existence which none but God know.
      So, when I say "searching for truth", the truth you seek should 1. Claim to be true. and 2. Be able to back up that claim, or at least make an argument for it. A person attending denomination X may wholeheartedly believe that the doctrines they follow there are the truth, but if that church itself doesn't claim to BE the true church, doesn't claim to have authority to speak for God, then we're left with sincere people putting time and trust into an organization of its own making. I've heard the arguments. I know what Rome claims. I know what the Orthodox claim. I have yet to see many others claim much at all beyond "we're all Christians, the people are the church, just believe these specific things", etc.
      That said, no, we shouldn't disparage others or their beliefs. Christ wouldn't. But what seems disparaging to you may not be so to me. If we're going to discuss a given topic, then we examine the claims of it, all the parts which make it, and this may include dismissing another's beliefs in the course of refuting their claims. When speaking from personal experience, one is free to point out their previous beliefs, beliefs still held by others, and to address issues of why one no longer believes them. If I used to believe X but don't anymore and I think X makes no sense, I'm going to say X makes no sense and explain my position. A discussion of truth absolutely CANNOT be a place to say all views are equally valid when, by definition, they aren't.
      Anything more is simply a matter of one's own personality and how they go about things and why. We don't need lengthy tirades tearing into each other, but we shouldn't pull punches just to make sure everyone feels validated either.

    Joking aside, I've been investigating the church on my own for about 4 years now. I've been baptized as a Christian for a year now and have been attending church for a couple of years- so these are not new topics for me to be struggling with. I feel as though I would not be aligning with the churches beliefs if I joined, but I do feel the spirit when I read the Book of Mormon. I also struggle with having evidence to support my beliefs. I feel as though there's just a lot more to support the Bible. I joined the church as an adult about 8 years ago. I was still serving in the Marine Corps at the time. There is nothing about this church that makes me feel inferior. Women and Men both have a lot of responsibilities within the church. Women also perform ordinances in the Temple that Men holding the priesthood hold. Danika Hello. As a Mormon turned Christian I'm telling you from my heart that knowing Jesus of the Bible is all you need. The LDS theology is NOT biblical, truly. Jesus is not a created Being, we all didn't live in heaven before we were born, we can't become Gods, Jesus is our High Priest (and the last high priest) who made a way for us to live with God. Bizarre temple work for yourself and the dead is not Biblical. And really, please read the Topical Church Essays on lds dot org to learn more of our history that the missionaries don't teach. The LDS have gotten really good at making worshipping God the same as serving the church. You can only please God when you dedicate all your time, talent, money, all that God has blessed you with and all he will bless you with to the church. This is an actual covenant you make in the temple. Just please stay with Christianity. it's the right choice. :)

    I’m investigating right now and yesterday the missionaries gave me a Baptist Calendar pamphlet. My parents however keep telling me the church is dangerous and they won’t support me with it, despite them knowing next to nothing about it (they don’t even know the difference between a chapel and a temple)

      Cream-Tea-And-Sandwiches It can be very difficult when you are unsupported by those closest to you. Just do your best to emulate Christ and follow his gospel. I know it's often easier said than done but hold on to the faith that you have. Write down your feelings in a journal or something so you can refer back in times of most desperation or forgetfulness. Keep it up :)

    I have a question - as someone who has started to delve into the book this month - when you gave up tea/coffee did your health improve? I'm not particularly a huge coffee drinker but I'm just curious as I am a health enthusiast and I hear a lot of people giving up caffeine (so primarily it's about the coffee). I'm just curious as you obviously did give these up, did you notice any improvement in your health or have you heard of others say anything about this?

      Tea and Coffee are not going to kill you, singling out these two drinks simply demonstrates the degree of care we should apply to what we allow to enter our bodies. Hope that helps.... gene

    I'm still a little confused by your story. How did you know Mormon beliefs are true? They may sound good and make you feel good, but that doesn't mean they're true. Why did you trust what they were saying?
    You mentioned some valid questions about Christianity you had growing up. Why were you relying on other people to answer the questions? The Bible addresses those issues. You may not like the answers it has on them, but that doesn't mean they're wrong. If you reject an answer from the Bible because you don't like it, then why do you believe in God at all?

      Come on, the Bible cannot answer every human question especially in our day but it teaches how to get some answers to some of our questions. I hope when we keep reading it, we may also get a clear understanding of how and why there's Bible

    • @Dustin_McNab
      @Dustin_McNab 3 года назад

      @@alienjak2831 Of course, there's many questions in life the Bible doesn't address, but I'm not talking about those. The Bible says plenty about God, the afterlife, the gospel, sin, etc. If we're not willing to follow God's teaching in the Bible, what's the point in saying you follow God?

    I see so many anti-Mormon videos online. I mean people who claim to be former members who attack and try to find anything little thing out and twist it. It's so nice to see a positive video and glad you found your path!

      You cannot twist hard cold facts. Did Joseph Smith marry over 34 woman? Yes. Did he lie about it for over 10 years. Yes. Was one of his wives 14? Yes. Did Joseph Smith marry other faithful men's wives? Yes. The list goes on and on. Often times I find people like you that don't really care about truth... You only care about what you want to be truth.

      One thing you missed is that man is not perfect, im not perfect, you're not perfect, we all aren't, not even joseph or brigham, we don' t worship the prophets, we worship God, even then, back in that day, that was normal, it just the end of the great apostosy, so humanity was confused, i think it was a great time as ever for the church to be restored at that time.

    • @42apostate
      @42apostate 6 лет назад +1

      Dave.
      "Twist it"??
      A couple of years ago LDS leaders came out with a proclamation, stating that any member that came out as gay (LGBT), they were to be automatically excommunicated.
      Included in that same proclamation, it stated that ALL CHILDREN of gay/lesbian couples could not be baptized, blessed or participate in LDS functions until they were 18 years old...and THEN it was required of them to denounce their parents and their lifestyle before they could be accepted fully as members.
      The LDS church claims to be led by Jesus himself---the same guy that said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me." I don't recall there being any exceptions in his plea.
      SO!
      I'm as "anti" LDS as God makes em!
      How did I "twist" that little bit of info?

    • @42apostate
      @42apostate 6 лет назад

      Coolblu.
      Jesus HIMSELF promised Peter that there would be no apostasy--that the gates of hell would not prevail against it (his church).
      Two major possibilities here.
      Either Jesus LIED to Peter, knowing his church would fall, OR...
      His church DID NOT fall, but Christ's message of salvation continued on for nearly 2000 years, and the "gates of hell" DID NOT prevail.
      Which is it?

    • @daveyjones9930
      @daveyjones9930 5 лет назад +1

      Coolblubird.
      YOU, personally, may not "worship" LDS prophets, but some of your prophets have instructed members to "FOLLOW THE PROPHET". You even have a song instructing CHILDREN to do the same.
      If I'm not mistaken, JESUS' instructions to ALL PEOPLE was to "follow HIM and no one else"!!---which would preclude following ANY prophet or ANY other HUMAN!
      How about answering gonefishin's question (above) about Jesus' promise to Peter, that the gates of hell would never prevail against Christ's church...yet MOrmonism claims the gates of hell DID PREVAIL (The Great Apostasy)!
      INQUIRING MINDS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW...

    How do Mormons feel about the BOM Musical? Ive always wanted to know!

    • @withkwaku
      @withkwaku 7 лет назад +6

      Matthew Norris I saw it live! Many of the jokes were gross, but the musicality of it was impressive to say the least! It seemed to poke fun at the idea of religion more than Mormonism itself. I think the show is crass and rude, but artistically well done and deserving of it's Tony's!

      Honestly, I was pretty offended when it first came out (having grown up in the church). I have a lot of friends who were really into the musical and would sing songs from it and quote it all the time. I even had a friend who dressed up as a missionary for halloween because of it. But then I started to see how this was another way for people to learn more about the church. My friends would ask me a lot more questions and seemed genuinely interested about how the church was portrayed verses against how it actually is. Now, I view it as another way for people to ask more questions about the church.

    That was in fact the thing that never set well with me either. Later after my witness of the Book for a Mormon down the road, I discovered I have a spirit that recognizes truth. So to me when someone feels like God cannot just be this big bad mean guy who throws people into hell for never hearing the gospel or having the wrong religion. You probably have a spirit that recognizes truth. The holy ghost can teach you and help you find truth. And when you find it man is it so sweet and peaceful!!!
