Today I take a look at the rather excellent 143 in 1 Retoad NES multicart. It has a nice selection of English language games and can save 1 game at a time if the original had that capability. Yes, there are carts with more games, but the selection on this one is superior.

Looks like a solid list of games. I might have to pick this one up. The translucent green shell is just so tempting.
It's like candy! Don't eat it though..
Good call. I just filled up on tide pods anyway.
Haha!!!
I have the same thing but it’s black and also mine has a black background when I play it and same select sounds
This is pretty badass I'll definitely be getting a cart
also 154 in 1 nes ultimate remix 1+2 is amazing multicard
Where can I get that wireless controller?
There's a post on db-electronics titled "The Dangers of 3.3V Flash in Retro Consoles " and it explains that if these multicart games don't have the right internal setup, they can ruin a NES. Any idea if this one was made to run safe?
It's kind of a mixed thing: I read this awhile back and it is definitely food for thought, but we have no indicators of how much damage they may be doing. There are a lot of variables not accounted for and to Rene's credit he is completely open about that. Any stress on a console will likely reduce lifespan. In fact though I know it's a surprise to some ALL electronics will one day die. We do not have a number on how much this is going to reduce life span. That said does the constant inserting and removing carts cause system killing wear over time? Well, yes it does. How about heat buildup from not-cleaning the system and/or storing in tight areas? Yup.
Anywho the point is time is killing consoles and it is very likely that flash carts may shorten the life of consoles, but also the wear caused by them MAY be less than the amount of wear caused by the constant inserting and removing carts. The lifespan of flash carts may be low enough to have no noticable effects whatsoever. The story was kind of overblown by the media and the author got caught in a crap-storm for things he did not really intend to imply. He really was aiming to get the cart producers to clean up their act a bit: To date there has been no "deaths" due to crappy carts (and they have been around for years). That said I tend to avoid using them on my rare and unusual consoles and roll with them on my common ones. That said I would bet this sucker is running 3.3
I do know that regular expected use causes wear in on itself, but I guess the thing I am concerned about is eliminating unnecessary wear that can be avoided to keep a console going as long as possible. Of course there's no way of knowing how long any console will last under even perfect conditions though. After doing more research on it, the worries are indeed a lot more inconclusive than it seemed given said many variables. I guess in a way it's good because that means they may not be lowering the lifespan, but on the other there's a bit of a nagging mystery.
I think we are pretty much on the same page.
Yep!

Question for all the enterprising/curious retro gamers out there, there are a lot of other videos on YT about mega-cartridges like this, many of them show the reviewers opening the cartridges and showing what's inside, not this one though. Why I mention it is that I have one of these exact cartridges, has anyone successfully managed to open one of these any customize the games, specifically to add ones that are missing?
Because I assume that a lot of the types of cartridges must put the games on a MicroSD card or something like that, the question is just if any of them have made them removable or not...
It's longer than reg cart? will it push down ok? I had one and it was to long and wouldn't push down.
I ran over to the game room to confirm this answer. It's the same length and width of regular NES carts.
Retr0rob ty very much. I will check into getting one. The other one I had was to long.
How does kirby play because the 150 cart I have Kirby's adventure is sped up and color is weird but mario bros 2 is also speed up, does anyone know if this cart has that problem?
Yeah they're both the PAL versions.
That reminded me to get The Flinstones for the GPD XD.
Loved it but never finished it on NES.
So stoked to see Riley from National Treasure still working these day.
This actually seems like a good deal.
I’ve got this cart and I cannot get my NES to recognise it. Keep getting the blinking red light no matter how many times I try. No issues with genuine carts, just this one. Anyone else having this issue?
It’s because your nes isn’t dezoned.
Try hitting reset 6 times..
Hey. I just put together a video on this too. Love this cart. Dig the video too.
Thank u.
You're welcome.
please, do you know any collection that also has castlevania 3? I'm looking for in aliexpress and all compilations are fantastic, but I do not know what happens that they do not put the castlevania 3 noi cartridge, do you have any idea what may be happening? By the way, forgive me of my English, because I only speak Portuguese and I used google translate, bye
I think I heard why they don't tend to put it on a cart is due to some special chip the cart used.
Same, I have 2 copies of this very cartridge (missus got an extra one), and my one gripe is that Castlevania 3 isn't on there, along with a few other classics (1942-1943, Arkanoid, Wizards & Warriors, Trojan, Strider, Shatterhand, RC ProAm, etc). The chip thing for C3 would make sense. What I'm wondering is, many of the other RUclips videos about these emulator cartridges show them opening them up and seeing what's inside, and you know they likely just put all these games on a MicroSD card or something. So for that matter, has anyone been able to customize one of these, add games that they wish were on here??
Does it have yoshis???
i have famicom version great one
Mine wont seem to start up. Its just goes to a grey screen. Any ideas?
Hit reset 6 times
@@TruDis01 did all that, multiple times, still nothing. Its just collecting dust
Do the multi carts work on a completely stock NES or do you have to clip the security chip?
it was tested on a completely stock nes.
@@Retr0Rob Awesome, Thank you for your reply. Just ordered one.
Excellent video of a very interesting product!
5:25 While I'm honestly a big fan of The Jetsons I'm not too keen on The Flintstones for some obvious reason.
The tetris 1 on this cart is the TENGEN version and Tetris 2 is Tetris 2/Tetris flash by nintendo.
I can confirm that.
does the battery work?
Yes, but it only works for one game that saves and if you use another game that uses save, there goes the save for the other. EG. If you have a save for Zelda, and play Kirby, you lose the Zelda save, and vise versa.
My games are saving but when left overnight they aren’t there anymore
I've also had this issue, but intermittently... I played Sweet Home for about an hour, came back half an hour later, and the save was gone. But I turned it on today, and it has saved my 'progress' (I saved on the first screen to check) from about 15 hours ago. I do know if you play another game then the save also wipes, at least if I recall correctly
It's very strange how many different named multi cart have that same menu with the phillips-CDI cartoon looking version of link. I assume they are all the same or have the same zelda left and right screen loading glitch
Many are exactly the same. Over time games are added and removed and sometimes ROMs are replaced for better working versions.
Will this play on a clone console, more specific the super retro trio plus?
It's a software emulated system so probably not...This will work on a real NES hardware such as: Nintendo NES, Analogue NT and NT mini etc.
I know it works on the “Retro- Duo”.
Yes.
It works on my retron 3, retroport, and retro duo portable so chances are that it will work
This works on the Retron HD.
one save game per cartridge? or one save game per title?
One save per cart
@@tonymoretti2347 oh, that stinks..... thanks for the heads up
@@asherael yah you have to focus on one game. Honestly the best and almost the cheapest way to go if with a flashed nes mini and loading ROMs on it. Tons of save spots
Games that some people like may not be fun to other people. This cartridge was the manufacturer opinion.
Just bought one, and it's actually a pretty good deal. Since these games are long since stopped being manufactured, buying pirated games can't seem to do much harm.
And I thought all my multicarts were great
Bootleg shit is so facinating
Im about to score this for $15 USD.🎉
I have this muti cart it has a decent amount of great games on it but I would say about half of it is shit games I'll never play but all in all it's worth the money looking to get the 500 and 1 cart next
If you’re worried about shit games, DO NOT buy that 500 in 1 cart... There’s good ones but just about every cheap hack imaginable is on that thing...
*Makes a goofy face*
This is muh gameface guys.
This cartridge is very good without further comments
Much cheaper now. Just bought it from Aliexpress for £7, so roughly $9.50
Yeah, these have really dropped in price over the last couple of months.
aka (GIANT SCAMS FOR 20 BUCKS)
I have this multi cartridge. It works like a piece of shit. Rarely loads the game screen, just get a black screen most of the time. Should of sent this piece of garbage back to Amazon. Not worth buying quite frankly. My 40 year old original cartridges always seem too work. This is the 3rd refurbished multi cart that i have bought in the past couple of years, and they rarely work. Never again will i buy these refurbished nes multi carts. A huge letdown. Probably done on purpose by the "Land of the Rising Sun!"
