    To be honest it’s the oil that brings lint. Add oil to anything and it will hold dust and lint. I hardly ever cover my hair and I’m lintless because i don’t use any oils or any products.

      @@iammorganalexis This is my 3rd set of locs. I started these 7 years ago with the intention of being low maintenance. I wanted minimal products like free formers and the look of loose locs. They were started by me, and I haven’t used oil once, or conditioner once since day one 2015.
      All I do is wash and separate. When I wash I either plait, two strand, or 3 strand twist my locs. I leave them in 3 days to a week, rarely any longer and rock the twist/braid out until I wash again. My hair is never plain straight and I’ve done this proves the last 5 years of having my locs.
      Most wouldn’t guess that I don’t twist, or do maintenance to my locs. At most it looks like it "needs” a retwist, but that’s not my lane. Roots are healthy, happy, not sagging/thinning at crack length because they aren’t held down with extra weight. They blow in the lightest of wind and don’t hurt my neck, but more than that they don’t eat up any of my time…I’m lazy af😂

      @@Tbabee033 put as simply as possible i live in a braid in/braid out but without products. I wash without using conditioner and braid up. After a week I take the braids/twists out then leave them curled until I wash and repeat again without products.

    As someone coming from long straight weave and long singles, I can tell most people do not like the change of wearing my natural hair especially because it’s short. I’m tired of my hair falling out so I needed this change. I don’t care what they say. It’s usually the people who aren’t black that have something to say about my hair not being long and straight anymore.

    I honestly never had lint in my locs and this is my second set . I cover them when I’m in the house and just like the gentleman said , not using heavy products to leave lint stuck in your locs . Although our locs attract lint , it’s usually at the surface of your locs . What helps them get embedded are products used on your locs.

    • @iammorganalexis
      @iammorganalexis  Год назад +5

      That makes a lot of sense! Thank you for that. I think that's super helpful going forward and just being mindful of the amount of oils being used.

    I just commented on another one of your videos concerning lint. Avoid to many products and especially oiling your locs. Oil only the scalp. And wear a satin or silk scarf when just chilling at home or sleeping. These things should help you with lint. You have some beautiful locs. Continue to enjoy your journey.

    Great pros and cons.
    Pros: Easy, ready to go styling, no matter the length or stage.
    Cons: Heaviness and lint. Lint drives me crazy! I ruined the trip of one loc trying to get rid of lint. 🤦🏾‍♀️

      My love:
      I’ve always had very thick and coils hair and was tenderheaded, so the process of doing my hair always caused SO much anxiety for me thinking about the time and potential pain. So I didn’t take care of my hair very well for a long time. Locs have taken away that anxiety centered around my head , and has allowed me to take better care of myself. I feel more myself than I ever have in my life with my locs and I love getting stopped everywhere by people telling me they love my locs and then sharing their hair stories 🤎

    I swear u told the truth on this (as always ) but yes patience’s omg all I can say is every con u said that’s how I feel now and just embracing the shorter stage looking back on pics and stuff I just loved watching them at each stage they were so beautiful and just for me and all I was thinking of was when they get longer…. So yes I agree be patient and love your shorts locs and also as u said my hairs never been this long ever and I still can’t believe it I mean I hear family Al the time saying how long it’s gotten and then the cons omg the touching the hair thing I hatee n it still happens n no lie they literally just try to touch no permissions nun 😂 n them being heavy yes definitely it’s annoying but can’t avoid n yea that lint let’s not get started 🙄🙄 love u Morgan ❤❤❤

    • @deebestest100
      @deebestest100 Год назад +4

      @@onejermiah7416 if you palm roll it should never hurt. If you interlock it can hurt if it’s too tight. Either because they’re doing it too tight or you don’t have enough new growth to interlock. Also, I find retwisting to be better on damp hair and I use a fine tooth comb to smooth the roots before I interlock it. If it’s not your retwisting itself, maybe you should get your scalp checked out to see why it’s so tender. Idk man I just don’t love the painful retwists for you at all lol

    Loc’d for three years and never ever had any issues with lint. I’m not super religious when it comes to covering it at night (working on it tho). But my sister in law who has been loc’d for the exact amount of time as me, has constant lint issues. I wonder if it has to do with texture, like maybe some textures hold on to it more. Idk 🤷🏽‍♀️

    Hi, I love your videos. I'm about a month and a few days gone since I started my locs journey. I'm cut in between taking them out now that they're not properly formed yet because I'll be taking them out as soon as I retain enough length that I want and the kind of shampoo to use for my hair. Before I locked my hair, my conditioner was made up of shampoo and conditioner and oil. It helped my hair not get frizzy and was easy to comb out. But the loctician said I'd need to use a shampoo that clarifies scalp and not something oily to avoid buildups. How true is this?

    • @iammorganalexis
      @iammorganalexis  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes very true especially being new in the locing phase, you want to give your hair the ability to loc and putting products that loosen up your curls disrupts the process.

    How do YOU deal with people's projections onto you? Sometimes they really hurt. I feel hurt by people looking down on me or looking at me like a downright criminal just because i miss a week or two of retwisting. It hurts and it does affect my self esteem and self image.

    • @iammorganalexis

      I assess what I feel about the way I look first. I believe the ways in which we become affected by others words are if they've become some of the ways we started to view and speak to ourselves (most time subconsciously) forming our own beliefs. Then I remind myself about the reasons why I started my locs in the first place. I do this by keeping inspiration at my finger tips, watching my favorite loc RUclipsrs and looking at their journeys helped me stay inspired to stay the course. Also I did things that helped me feel good like doing my makeup on days I knew I would be more influenced to think negatively than others. I hope this helps!
