Yes I have locs. The first time I locked my hair was after my sister's death in 2002. I kept them until I felt my grief was settled. Now I have them again. Lost my mother to Covid in 2020. I grew them again in 2020. For me it's a spiritual journey. They comfort me, they remind me of nature. They grow just like I do in many ways. They are healing. This journey with my locs may be longer. I lost a very special person and relationship, my mom. Thank you for the opportunity to share.

@@luxejohnnah nobody is ignorant it sometimes kinda does the condition they have it in, for example someone doesn’t do basic loc maintenance and has dirty locs and lots of buildup of dirt and other things.
Loved this video! But the discomforts were not necessarily explained enough. I just want to inform everyone that your locs and edges will only thin if you do not maintain them correctly. (Aside from medical or genetic instances) And the same goes for them falling out. This can be due to you constantly restyling them, not protecting them properly (items such as dreadsocks and satin pillow cases are highly recommended) putting too much tension on them, and re-twisting them too often and or extremely tight. Also, the only thing you need, and the most basic supplies you can use to maintain your locs are literally oil, washing products (shampoo and depending on preference, conditioner) and water. It is basically free to a couple dollars to maintain locs. I hope everyone is enjoying their journey and if you thought about having locs, I highly recommend it. We all love it here. Peace and love and light, Godspeed! 💕
Thank you for the tips. My locs are two years now and I've been styling them mostly and noticed they have been thinning especially at the root, I didn't know why but now I do. I appreciate this☺️🤗
@@TheDirector_ The weight become no joke after 20 years. But the worst is, the size at one point won't allow you to wash them deep inside and the sebum will grow in the middle, step by step.
@@TheDirector_ Sorry, for the answer. Had to cut it off because I was at the hospital for one whole months last year. I was doing Free form, so I got a castor tail. I am celt, so my vision is like ""forest caveman"", according to the origin'al garden. Meaning That I wanted to relive what my ancestors did, when the cold was insane from autumn to end of spring 9/12 months per years, plus heavy rain in summer. I would say like a snowy mountain in africa before. Mountains lion, for example, from the atlas, they were full of fur to the tail and black. Like chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, they have a huge quantity of fur, cold friendly. So I grew my hair from 2003 and 2012, I stopped shampoo and 2016 no brushing. My hair went from just above the knee, in one year to shoulder length matted. This was everything I wanted, excepted that I should have wash them a bit to avoid for the sebum to stack up so much in the middle of my tail. So beginning of 2022, the castor tail was 4 centimeters THICK ( was harder than leather ) and the length was just above my kidneys. The smell was awful and I began to let myself go like a wheat junky and you know what came after. So I want to restart but with more conditioning to avoid the horrible smell. Maybe it's just about the food, clean lean meat and greens and veggies only, no cereals or dairy or too much fat, oil. In winter, my spine was at body temperature, so hermetic to the cold and even heat and a nice body armour. I miss my castor tail sooo much. 😭 And ofc, I hate what the humankind is doing to the Garden. We could have the same technology without this worldwide waste and destruction.... I want my forests back. And you ☺ now ? Sorry for my french ☺
I love that Locs have a rich history and a lot of us "loc up" for different reasons. The biggest reason is that we've come to LOVE our natural hair. That matters!
True, I'm 19 years into my second set, had 7 years on my first and actually sit on them accidently at times and they weight a ton when wet but they save plenty of money while bypassing barbers.
I am 3 years strong in my journey and I love it. My Locs are my babies 🖤 I can honestly say my journey has been and still is so spiritual and I encourage all to join the movement
I have had 4 sets of locs and can’t see myself rocking anything else. I went to primary school with a Rastafarian family and all I wanted was for my hair to look like theirs. My mother put a relaxer at my hair at age 4, and as soon as I turned 16 I shaved all my hair off and never looked back. Locs for life!
I have had two set of locks now. I love it!!! When my antennas were gone, I felt the negative and anxious frequencies of others coming onto me. I had to reground myself and then I met my bf (who has locks) and restarted my journey again. I’m two years next month with semi free form thick locks.
@@goodprowealth8087 yes, the positive energy I sense and gravitate towards it. The negative on the other hand is like a gut warning to switch directions so my aura doesn’t attract toxic draining vampires.
I'm so happy that most of you watching this video realize the important of natural beauty, you have to be awake, awoke to know yourself , love yourself, and everything about you must be the beauty from inside out. Once you're awake, everything that was false fell. And then the beauty will surrounded you, love will guide you, and knowledge will uplift you.
I cut my locks off twice because I had to. The third time I grew them back I trimmed them and It hurt everytime I cut my locks. When I don’t have them I feel like something missing. I’ve noticed how ppl react to locks some good some bad. I love my hair and I don’t care what you think. I thank the creator of all things for all my blessing. Ppl stay up & never come down.
This was such an excellent video👏🏿! I’m ashamed to admit that I used to believe some negative misconceptions about locs, but I’ve learned so much since then and I have locs now🤗! My daughter wants locs too and I can’t wait to start hers🙏🏿! Thanks for sharing ❤️!
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing. Indeed many times the negative information is what reaches us first. I'm happy that you were able to find new information that gives deeper insight. Wishing you and your daughter an amazing journey ♥️
Another interesting thing is that in South Afrika when we go through initiation to become traditional healers we lock our hair. Depending on the type of initiation you''re going through you apply "idumane"/ red clay to your locks
I love my locs! I've had my locs for almost three years and my hair is past the middle of my back. Keeping my hair in its natural state promoted fast hair growth. I can wear my locs in so many different hairstyles. My locs are easy to maintain.
i’ve been loced for almost 3 months now and i love it. truly loved ur video as well, what intrigued me the most was the eastern and western spiritualism beliefs.. i found that cool
Yes! While researching that was definitely some of the most interesting information I came across. I'm happy to hear that you have begun your journey and that it has been going awesome thus far. Thank you for sharing😊❤
Congrats descreations on your locs on 4 months now I bet stay patient and your crown will flourish I started my locs 2 yrs n 6 months ago and my locs are changing everyday they are now starting to mature now
My husband is 6 years loc strong (mid back length) 🥰 My lil babies are only 2 months & I'm obsessed!!! My only regret is not having started mine sooner! They're freeing, unproblematic & beautiful in every way & every stage, nothing even remotely "dreadful" about our tresses 🥰
I'm on my third and final set of locs. First time was traditional. Second was micro and this third is freeform. I realized that I was sick and tired of trying to fit into societies standard of beauty. I love the uniqueness of my hair and wouldn't go back. Plus I love to be different and everybody hopping on the loc train so I hopped off and went a different direction with them
I LOVE LOCS!!!!!! Got rid of relaxers, combs, conditioners, etc. Someone I was dating asked me “are you ever gonna take those out or do they come out and I told him with passion absolutely not, EVER! “. Had a family member tell me locs are for men and I asked him to show me that in the Bible of course he couldn’t. Just close to being natural works best for me it’s low maintenance it’s clean they’re beautiful. Hang in there people of locked hair we are going to overcome this prejudice.
Hmmm...interesting..I attempted to "date" an individual (my first time locing) who asked, "why are they so hard"?.... it was over!! I really could nt bring any consciousness to this person at all..
my family ask me " do they come out " lmaoooo like tf. I realized like damn, People want me to change my natural self to fit in . I dont get invited to the " groups or functions" . And I Laugh because I dont care. Its freeing knowing the Reality is I never fit in. And if I have to cut my hair to fit in ion wanna im good on all that.
Throughout history locs can be found on every continent they’re natural and beautiful. After I became a born again Christian, I was combing locs out of my hair twice a day… The Lord kept telling me to keep them so I did. I must say it has been interesting to see how people treat me differently now ( like I’m dirty or something I keep my locs clean and oiled) It’s been a humbling experience for my confidence and spirituality. Thank you for sharing and God Bless ❤️🙏🏽
I started my Journey in 2020 at 30 yrs old, my hair is so thick and long 😍 it’s definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made ! Ohh and let’s not forget the MANY COMPLIMENTS 💕
Locks are beautiful i always wanted my hair lock but there were too much discrimatio n in the 60s now iam comfortable wearing my locks we are living in the last days and some of us will havee to flee to the mountains so it will be the most comfortable hair style
I've had my hair locked for over 10 years now.... Once they started growing and filling out I really loved them.... Looking in the mirror 🪞 one day and thought to myself this is how I've always supposed to look. Never cutting them off. Been on job interviews before and one the first questions to be asked of me is " are you willing to cut ✂️ your hair "..... My response is always the same, what does my hair have to do with me performing a job?
O wow! Thank you so much for sharing I'm sorry that you had to experience levels of discrimination because of the way you choose to wear your hair. They didn't deserve you anyway!. I'm happy that you are satisfied♥️

Yall acting like if you don't have lots you can't go on a spiritual journey or be at your best. Lol. Get it together. Keep researching. Just because you don't have locks doesn't mean you can not go on the spiritual journey. Being natural is the best way to go but locs have nothing to do with your journey. If you believe that you have not taken a step.
I always love locs, it was destined for me to have locs. It’s been 10+years and do not regret it at all. I actually feel glorious like a queen. Even when it’s not retwist I still feel so beautiful and connected to Yah!
Good day, I have locs and I love it, it was one of the best decision I ever made for my hair considering being Yahsara'el, now the English term used Hebrew Israelite. Locs was the first hair worn in history in my culture and many other nations from the beginning. Bless up
It's true, I was in the Army for 10 Years. I joined in 2011 and women I joined with had to cut their locs off. They were against the regulation at the time. We also could not wear twists at the time. I knew seldom women with them after that and if they did have them they wore wigs over it to cover that they had them. It was very specific and the styles that we used to protect our hair that were available seemed limited in my opinion. Locs and other varies styles are now allowed which is great, but I feel horrible that it was ever not. I am now out of Army and have installed microlocs on my hair last week. I'm so excited for this journey and to embrace what my hair natural does. This video was very informative! 💜
Great video! Beautiful content! I have loved and admired locs for a number of years. Now I have my own. I recently celebrated my two year locaversary and I love, love, love my locs. ❤️❤️❤️
I have had locs, for 28 years now, at one point I became very ill and they all fell out. I thought I never go back to them. The minute my hair began to grow I love it again, I am very happy with it this way.
I'm glad you recovered and your hair grew back in. I started 25 years ago, have cut mine clean off and started over. About to do the same as they're below waist length and thinnish at the crown since 2019. Maybe due to the weight this time. I plan to start again once more. Perhaps sister locks next time. Best wishes to you.
such a well informed video 😊 ! And beautiful journey. As a African woman in America I have to say the most judgement I had gotten from having my locs has been from other “black” people with locs.. many condescending questions and evil eyes. I felt compelled to cut them off around when the pandemic hit because of the outside energy attached & those envious glares. I had decided to go on my loc journey to connect more with my African people. I felt had something to prove as a “lightskin” as my people call me. Holy spirit told me I did not need to loc my hair for any peoples acceptance. I am already very well connected. I was actually told when I go around people to wear wigs and head wraps just as other spiritual women of the Most High do around the world ei; Jewish , Muslim, & Orisa women to name a few. But, I concur, they’re beautiful & I do miss my locs from time but I feel so much more free & still very connected with Holy Spirit without them. I have seen many comments judging black women for wearing wigs, and wraps.. judge not that you be not judged. Again, It was a beautiful journey and I may grow them back when I get the ok from the Most High. The journey is not for all of us. ❤️
Excellent presentation. I've been locked tight for 12 yrs and am happily maintaining with so many young locologist around these days. I freeformed mine and my Sons. It's great the new talent out here!

I know locs have a connection to our history, but to be honest I just like my hair growing out and locking up naturally. It’s not a spiritual symbolization for me now, it’s just me being me in my natural state without changing for the eyes outside myself. It’s me being who I am and remaining true to my self love.
More good information about Locs. I’m 5 plus months in. I have several relatives who have Locs including my daughter who is three plus years in. She’s my inspiration. I just wish I would have gotten my done three years ago with her. For me, they carry a positive vibe, freedom, self love and I don’t have to spend hours in the mirror trying to feel pretty. I am pretty, I am gorgeous, I am beautiful…

That's because she was brought up in a dark period of Jamaican History, slavery mindset and stereotism. Ratafarians fought hard in Jamaica for now international society to be proud or accept wearing locs
I just passed a month so far in my journey! I don't regret it of course but it is really testing my patience😂! I feel like summer time will blast off my loc journey!☀️
Lol. My natural hair has definitely taught me patience indeed. No need to worry. In due time it will become second nature. I'm happy that you are embarking on this journey. Wishing you healthy beautiful locs♥️
Excellent video. I’m 5 years in, my loca are palm rolled and I keep them maintained and have a head full of hair and edges. And it’s mostly likely due to not having them over twisted and styled especially up do’s. I now often get asked if they’re insta-locs or faux locs and I proudly say NO, it’s ALL ME! ☺️. Locking my hair was the BEST decision ever made and worth the journey when you get them for reasons that aren’t vain. 😊♥️
Having locs since 2004, I'm used to gawking, mainly from people who've never seen them. I've had to cuss out several who got bold enough to try to grab or touch them..eewww. It was a challenge to find caps/hats to fit me, as they became very long and thick, some evolving into "tree trunk " locs. Fortunately, I found a company that makes hats from cotton and spandex which allows them to stretch to provide a comfortable fit. But, everyone has their own opinion of locs. Some love them, some don't. But, if you choose to grow them, wear them with dignity and pride.
Good on you for standing up for yourself and your long loc journey. I'm kinda new myself, just a little more than 2 years. So far the only hats I can wear are visors, but I'm still looking!

I'm proud of my locs & at peace with myself because I also fulfilled a promise to my Mum before she passed. Mum said: "Promise me You'll loc your hair when I pass as soon as possible. You spent the pass few years caring for me. Now its time to follow Your heart & mind by caring for Yourself by Locing Up.. It's time for Your Journey & many New Beginnings in Your Life.. EVERYTHING will be different from now on!"

The fact that people go against how we wear our hair upsets me to the core amongst other things, yet it is okay for others to do the same thing. Locks are gorgeous no matter how they look.

Thank you for this comment! Bless you ✨️
Thank you for the tips. My locs are two years now and I've been styling them mostly and noticed they have been thinning especially at the root, I didn't know why but now I do. I appreciate this☺️🤗
Is there any chance of saving once the root is thin?
Thanks for clearing that up. 💯

15 months into my second set of locs. NEVER cutting my hair again . I’m loc’d forever 🌴🖤
Will see that in 20 years.
@@Paraclef I’ll prolly trim but loc,d forever
@@TheDirector_ The weight become no joke after 20 years. But the worst is, the size at one point won't allow you to wash them deep inside and the sebum will grow in the middle, step by step.
@@Paraclef that’s how yours is?
And ofc, I hate what the humankind is doing to the Garden.
We could have the same technology without this worldwide waste and destruction.... I want my forests back.
And you ☺ now ?
Sorry for my french ☺
I have had locs for 10 years. It was the best decision I ever made.
6 months into my loc journey...proud and happy!
A new beginning♥️ thank you for sharing
Don’t nobody wear locs better than us ✊🏽
✊🏾✊🏾🫶🏾
I love that Locs have a rich history and a lot of us "loc up" for different reasons. The biggest reason is that we've come to LOVE our natural hair. That matters!
Yes! It truly is ❤️
I have locs, soon 15 months, was great seeing Lauryn hills locs and others... fab video
Cleaning locks is a serious task! More people need to understand how to do this properly!
Oooh I bet!

The 28th makes 10 months since I’ve started my loc journey. Proud to have them ♥️♥️♥️
I have been loc’d for 11 months!! 🤗 It’s the best decision I ever made. I am enjoying my loc journey & get several compliments on my hair.
Boom boom🥳 that's whatsup. Amazing♥️
I'm 20 yrs in and am just now getting my 2nd set. The 1st reach past my bottom. I love my hair!🙆
4 is way to young for a relaxer. 💯
I consider putting a relaxer on a 4 yo to be abusive behavior. It’s a harsh chemical.
I have had two set of locks now. I love it!!! When my antennas were gone, I felt the negative and anxious frequencies of others coming onto me. I had to reground myself and then I met my bf (who has locks) and restarted my journey again. I’m two years next month with semi free form thick locks.
did u feel sensitive to positive or negative energies when u had your locks?
@@goodprowealth8087 yes, the positive energy I sense and gravitate towards it. The negative on the other hand is like a gut warning to switch directions so my aura doesn’t attract toxic draining vampires.
i have 5 sets of locks i cant choose which one i like because i've locked myself out of the house and realised i left my dreadlocks on the bus
8 Years strong and I love this Journey, doing this for Eternity 🔥🔥🔥
♥️♥️♥️ thank you for sharing.
Locked in for 2 months now... The journey just begun.. i pray for strength and direction. 🙏
You got this!
I've been locked for over 3 years now and I couldn't be more happier!!
Love my locs will never cut them.. The journey is wonderful
free form locs are so damn gorgeous
Speak on it sis ♥️
Thinking about doing freeform, on this new journey because I was coerced to get them the last time.
Yes I have locs!! I love my locs. My boyfriend had locs so does his daughter. We love locs around here
Beautiful ♥️
This was such an excellent video👏🏿! I’m ashamed to admit that I used to believe some negative misconceptions about locs, but I’ve learned so much since then and I have locs now🤗! My daughter wants locs too and I can’t wait to start hers🙏🏿! Thanks for sharing ❤️!
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing. Indeed many times the negative information is what reaches us first. I'm happy that you were able to find new information that gives deeper insight.
Wishing you and your daughter an amazing journey ♥️
@@MelaninArchives You’re very welcome 🥰! And thank you so much for the well wishes also☺️! Definitely appreciate it❤️🙏🏿!
Another interesting thing is that in South Afrika when we go through initiation to become traditional healers we lock our hair. Depending on the type of initiation you''re going through you apply "idumane"/ red clay to your locks
O wow. This is very enlightening. Thank you for sharing.
Red clay is known as "thīrīga " in my language,Gīkūyū...
I love my locs! I've had my locs for almost three years and my hair is past the middle of my back. Keeping my hair in its natural state promoted fast hair growth. I can wear my locs in so many different hairstyles. My locs are easy to maintain.
Amazing. It all worked out❤️
I am heavily considering starting my loc journey. After seeing this video I am going to get my locs 🥰.
I'm happy that the video was able to give you the information you needed to help you in making your decision 😊
i’ve been loced for almost 3 months now and i love it. truly loved ur video as well, what intrigued me the most was the eastern and western spiritualism beliefs.. i found that cool
Yes! While researching that was definitely some of the most interesting information I came across. I'm happy to hear that you have begun your journey and that it has been going awesome thus far.
Thank you for sharing😊❤
Congrats descreations on your locs on 4 months now I bet stay patient and your crown will flourish I started my locs 2 yrs n 6 months ago and my locs are changing everyday they are now starting to mature now
You and i started at the same time
My husband is 6 years loc strong (mid back length) 🥰 My lil babies are only 2 months & I'm obsessed!!! My only regret is not having started mine sooner! They're freeing, unproblematic & beautiful in every way & every stage, nothing even remotely "dreadful" about our tresses 🥰
♥️♥️♥️
I'm happy that you and your family are having a beautiful experience being locked. Thank you for sharing😊
@@MelaninArchives 🥰 You're welcome honey 😉
In the bible it says a woman hair is her glory so the longer your hair is the more glorious u are
They hate us cuz they ain't us and I'm not even loccd yet
my family ask me " do they come out " lmaoooo like tf. I realized like damn, People want me to change my natural self to fit in . I dont get invited to the " groups or functions" . And I Laugh because I dont care. Its freeing knowing the Reality is I never fit in. And if I have to cut my hair to fit in ion wanna im good on all that.
Dreadlocks are beautiful. Thank you for the video.
You're most welcome 😊😊
Growing my loss has taught me patience, Grace, and discernment. It's not a style but a way of life
Throughout history locs can be found on every continent they’re natural and beautiful.
That's what's up! Amazing

Locks are beautiful i always wanted my hair lock but there were too much discrimatio n in the 60s now iam comfortable wearing my locks we are living in the last days and some of us will havee to flee to the mountains so it will be the most comfortable hair style
i have freeform locs. i love this vid
That's wonderful. I'm really considering it at the moment!😊
I have had locks for 23 yrs. Love my hair style. I do cut them and colour them. Best hairstyle ever .
23 years is a lifetime for many. Thank you for sharing😊
Eleven years locked and it’s the best thing ever
I've had my hair locked for over 10 years now.... Once they started growing and filling out I really loved them.... Looking in the mirror 🪞 one day and thought to myself this is how I've always supposed to look. Never cutting them off. Been on job interviews before and one the first questions to be asked of me is " are you willing to cut ✂️ your hair "..... My response is always the same, what does my hair have to do with me performing a job?
O wow! Thank you so much for sharing
I'm sorry that you had to experience levels of discrimination because of the way you choose to wear your hair. They didn't deserve you anyway!.
I'm happy that you are satisfied♥️
@@MelaninArchives Thank you. I originally started in "07" but kept cutting my hair, I wasn't used wearing my hair long. Once I finally made my mind up to wear my natural crown 👑 in 2012, I never looked back. Let your soul glo 😆😆😆
I agee1% with you. But my concern is in the vedio they say that this is a hair style. No, I free form . This is a new texture. My hair texture has changed. It has become stronger.
I have had locs for 2 yrs now. I used to have them as a baby but my grandparents didn’t like them so they were taken out. At 19 I got my hair locked fully and enjoy them. They takes patience but they also teach you confidence and love yourself
I had locs but i cut them they were too long i wanted something new ,but now i'm going back ,its hard to keep afro .lov.

This me right now ❤️

I know locs have a connection to our history, but to be honest I just like my hair growing out and locking up naturally. It’s not a spiritual symbolization for me now, it’s just me being me in my natural state without changing for the eyes outside myself.

Aww. Thank you for sharing♥️ and I'm happy that you're enjoying the look and the journey😊
Beautiful for many people. I find this interesting. This is something that I am use to seeing especially in Berkeley, Ca.
I am a sista with Locs this is my 2nd set! I love having my natural hair run down my back
