John Turner yeah why they stop at 1 expansion is crazy. They should have just keeo adding on keeo the same game but kept making expansions. Pretty sure there will be A BB2 this game sold for too well. May not be soon but there will be guarantee that
No kidding, just 2 days ago I was like, "why aren't there any good build guides on RUclips for Bloodborne?" Then I saw this. Fortunately for me, it's Jim's video on Bloodborne builds.
Good ol' JonTron scream. I made a noise similar to that the first time I beat Logarius too. For some reason, he gives me more trouble more consistently than any other boss in the game, even Ludwig or Maria.
Is it rare for people like me to only play Soulsborne games for PvE? I've found 300ish hours of enjoyment on DS1 from PvE alone. I never do PvP. Am I missing out much? Or am I alone.
I don’t like PVP. But I won’t back down from an invader. I have only been playing BB for a month (already pkatinumed it too) and I think my record is 8 wins outta 10.
You're not missing anything PvP is just a sucky game mode period in my opinion - it's almost always tacked on and just shit - I have met some cool people while online gaming though.
I've been playing Bloodborne for a long time and I STILL haven't experienced every weapon in this game. Every few months, when I inevitably begin a new playthrough to try a build around a particular weapon, I always listen to this video as I'm going through Central Yharnam to remind myself how I should probably plan things out. This video is an immense help for players of all skill levels and I'm glad it's still here for us to use.
As a Bloodborne noob, I can't thank you enough for this immeasurably helpful guide. As a fellow creator, I applaud your ability to find an untapped niche and make a high quality video to meet the demand. You've saved my BB streams from being infuriating to watch. Thank you so much, and great job on this guide. You more than earned my sub.
only boss i regretted not putting anything in stamina was shadow of yharnam. the orphan just requiers perfect dodges, those fuckers require running and dash spams every time.
I'm one of those people who got the game cause its free for ps plus. This was a very helpful and educational video on the subject. Great job and keep it coming.
People who think save scumming is cheating, are clueless. You want to go through the same dungeon again to get the right gem? All that EXTRA work just for ONE gem, and rng is extremely not in your favor you're out of your mind.
TL:DR; Brain DeadGuide Vgr: 40+ End: 20-30 Str: 40+ If you want big boi weapons (Hammers, Greatswords, etc) Skl: 40+ If you want edgelord weapons (daggers, katanas, etc) Bld: 40+ If you want sparky bank weapons (guns, cannons, chikage) Arc: 40+ If you want zip zappo weapons (spells) Keep it below level 120 to pvp
Except 70+ arcane builds. They will have way less hp and way less weapon variety to them. But tbh no one should do any 99 arcane build on their first playtrough imo. It's definitely one of the most niche playstyles to adapt and play, it requires high amounts of knowledge and familiarity to perform well.
Lord Trowa I played it for months and loved it. The dlc is the best I've ever experienced in a game. It's the platinum trophy I'm most proud of. I will play it again someday on the inevitable 60 fps remaster on PS5.
Not a fan of "how to" vids but this is a good one. Late but better than nothing, especially with the event. Lack a small nod to false depth tho, I know for a fact there are dozens of people farming them(yesterday there were 16 messengers around the lantern) as "unnatural" as they're false depths are part of the game now.
As useful as False Depth chalices are, the best Blood Gems can't be obtained from them alone. They do serve a purpose and I'm thinking of making a smaller video to talk about that.
Rehvion Hi, my Bloodborne got corrupted recently and I have to beat the game to ng+7 all over again and then make a meta character. So I thought it would be fun if you guys joined me on my RUclips streams because I'm really bored. I can give you advices about the game or we can communicate with each other. A lot of people got this game for free on ps plus that I was actually trolling with my friend and we probably will. But if you started the game and you need help just ask me. Overall I just want to have fun and I'm bored beating the game 8 times again so you can join my streams if you want. Bye. No advertising, just bored.
Started BB a year ago, wanted to play arcane, leveled arcane early, took that crappy build all the way through blood-starved, and ragequit because I hadn't found a SINGLE SPELL.........two weeks ago, got wise, leveled STR, started blowing through the game, found lots of spells, learned I should have stuck to the arcane path......................seppuku is the only honorable choice.
Exquisite Corpse "spells" It's sad that you quit the game though, that's why i always tell to people to focus on making the game enjoyable for new players... As of today, i'm seeing invaders who prey upon new players like scavengers as cinycal people tbat don't want any new fans of their game, like they should be the only ones to like it, but remember, the more people play and love the game, the more income from soft gets, the more and better games will come out.
Exquisite Corpse also, using a wiki to play isn't that bad, especially in bloodborne which has so few secrets and so many "dead ends" when it comes to build-making.
I don't even know if I count as a 'new player' since I finished all three DS games, 3/4s of Demon Souls, and played quite a lot of PvP in both DS2 and 3. My comfort zone is pure spellcaster (melee hybrids are for weenies!), but trying to aggressively force the magic archetype in Bloodborne will build you into a corner if you don't know what you're doing.
Exquisite Corpse but... Pure spellcasting is hated by miyazaki, that's just not how he envisions sorcerees... Decent full spellcast builds in fromsoft games don't exist afaik
If you want to genuinely optimize your build for PvP, pure spellcasting does not work...but - then again - if you REALLY want to optimize - it's all been worked out. Consult the internet and make 'the build' - there are only 2-3 per game. However, I think of Dark Souls as being fundamentally casual. These matches aren't at EVO for thousands of dollars; they're in the living room among friends having fun. Basically, I want my build to showcase some unique idea while still being 90% as good as the truly optimized players. This was possible in DS2 with pure magic....but, sadly, nowhere else.
That's definitely true. Especially your name influences your character. I tought making a Scholar Knight character for Grand Archives invasions and to be honest I regret making that(Crystal LKGS is just cursed). I decided to change it into Cleric Knight with Blessed LKGS but since my name was Scholar it stuck on me lol.
@@Merty1388 I know exactly what you are saying. I love making characters for a specific purpose also, like I have a character that helps people through the forbidden woods in Bloodborne
Thank you for this video, I’ve had bloodborne for the longest time but I’ve never really understood how to upgrade my character well enough to beat the game, but this video has definitely helped, thank you
Bloodborne update: thanks to your guide, I got to the moon presence and I’m finally gonna beat the game! Ultra thanks to you, I’m so glad that I was able to understand how to really play bloodborne and understand it’s mechanics and truly experience the whole game at its finest, and I enjoyed every moment of it, so thank you again for making this video, it allowed me to beat the game I’ve always wanted to beat 👍🏻
Late to the party, but as someone who figured all this out myself, I'm glad it's out here. A good guide to an important part of the game! Don't be afraid to try some of those bottom two builds, they can be a lot of fun. I appreciate jm's guides, they seem to be more about "how to be effective no matter your pursuits" than "how to win by copying me". Glad I found them.
I recently got into this game, and was struggling with the cleric beast. I rang my bell and waited for some time, but nobody came to help. I went and did a few things while my game was idle. I came back and found a guy named Baked potato had killed every enemy in the stage while I was away, and waited for me to return. If you somehow see this comment, thank you.
You heard right MassiveGat. He's widely considered to be the hardest boss in the game. He does have weaknesses though as he's pretty vulnerable to back-stabbing and ripostes if your good at timing. Other than that all I can say is never ever ever dodge straight backwards as he will punish the hell out of you if you do that. Always dodge to the side, preferably the opposite direction he's swinging his weapon.
VERY well done on the video. I was a little skeptical when you came to me asking about the '6 categories' idea but i think you got the point across very well, it was really well thought out and I don't find myself disagreeing with any of the points. Nice work!
I enjoy the challenge of saying a statement that's completely ridiculous and giving it an argument that's decently sensible. I'm glad you liked it, my dude. Thank you for your help along the way! :)
The most common complaint I hear people make about Bloodborne is having to farm for blood vials and bullets, which I find is an easy problem to avoid with proper conservation methods. To save on bullets, just use blood bullets ALL the time! Walk up to an enemy, press up on the D-pad, then mash R1 to get back as much health as possible while the regain window lasts. To save on blood vials, take all the HP restoring gems you find and stack them onto a single weapon that you don't plan on actually using. The base game gives you 4 of these; a radial gem in Cathedral Ward beyond the giant who swing a wrecking ball. The Teardrop Gem which you get from the Doll after giving her the comb from the abandoned workshop. A waning fire gem being guarded by the very first Brainsucker you're likely to find, not far past the Abandoned Workshop. And a triangular gem in the DLC after you reach the Research Hall and give Adeline 2 Brain Fluids. She gives you the key that unlocks the balcony, which allows you to reach it. If you're planning to do chalice dungeons, you can even find circular gems that recover health which you can equip to a firearm. Simply pick any root dungeon and add a rotted offering. Once you find one of those little hunchback guys patrolling around on their long spindly legs surrounded by a group of weaker enemies, keep killing that guy until he drops a pulsing circular gem. The deeper the depth of the dungeon, the more health it will restore.
This is the most convoluted method for dealing with blood vials. You literally just described playing thru most of the game and most of the DLC just to get a minor amount of passive HP regen. A way better tip is just to farm the first area for blood vials and/or farm echoes really early in the game, then buy a ton of vials because they're super cheap at the beginning of the game. If you need them on a late game character, then just port to Ludwig's lamp, run backwards out of his boss room (backwards meaning to the area before his boss room) and kill the one witch sitting there. She always drops 5 (IIRC, might be more) blood vials every time you kill her and the whole thing takes less time than the loading screen.
Most heartwarming outrow ever love this guy. Wat he’s this video years ago on my first play through just got bloodborne on ps5 starting another play through video is still golden.
I really appreciate your videos, you give good interpretations about interesting and controversial topics in Souls-Borne games, and this one wasn't different. I have spent something like a year playing the game - I already know some stuff - but it's always nice to see this kind of videos. Thank you for taking the time to gathering all this information and additional links, man!
Hadn't touched this game in two years, then last week I signed onto play some co-op and PvP, and was DELIGHTED to find plenty of people still enjoying the game nearly FIVE YEARS post-launch. Bloodborne might be the greatest RPG of this conaole generation. Anyways, thanks to you I'm off to start a new build, mwahaha!
As a side note the blood atk up gems that suck obtaining are the radials. But the circle ones are easy (usable on a Lost Chikage with 2 27% radials is still beastly)
DarkBlood Souls Yep, I confirm this. The ones who truly depends only of RNGsus are the off shape 31.5 Bloodtinge from the Root Isz Watcher. Two 27 ATK UP and one 31.5 Blood ATK UP on the Lost Chikage and you deal massive damage. I destroyed bosses with my friends with my 25 SKIL/50 BLT build and won many invasions.
🤔 .... I think I like this guy? He seems genuine enough and maybe he lost someone special during this video because of what he said at the end. Find the people who mean something to u and tell them. At that moment I hadn’t said that to the ones I loved in a long bit. And he just made me realize that. A youtuber made me realize that I have been neglecting the ones I care about. .. thank u Jim. Jim you're a true gem and you are definitely going to be on your way to the big leagues. You've contributed so much and got me to actually start making real builds which I never did before!
Hey Jim, just wanted to thank you for this video. As you said it was the only video that went in depth on build making at the time, and I was one of the players who got bloodborne when it was f2p and it was my introduction to the souls series. This video has helped me love the entire souls series and I'm even planning on returning to bloodborne when I can. Love the video and keep up the work man
This is by far the most comprehensive, complete, and user friendly guide I have ever seen. Among the mountains of bloodborne “guides” this is the best. I know cause I’ve seen a lot, and they’re pretty much all the same 🙃
Thank you VERY much for this. I purchased Bloodborne about 2-3 months ago so just before it was released for free on PS4+ so I've gotten a bit of a head start over those new guys. I fell in love with the game right away and for the most part it's my first SoulsBorne game (I briefly played DS1 but stopped temporarily because it was too much for me) and so Bloodborne is serving as the perfect intro to this genre for me. Anyway over the last couple of months I was searching everywhere for a guide like this and didn't quite find what I was looking for so I had to get my answers through trial and error and through hours of studying things I sometimes only half understood lol. Every once in a while I got into the habit of searching "Bloodborne Build" in youtube and in google search. I just happened to search that again today and BOOM! I find you uploaded this just a couple of days ago! So thanks man I really appreciate it. I liked the vid and I'll subscribe if the rest of your content is up my ally. Keep up the good work man!

No worries man yeah I'd be interested in joining you. The only problem is I'm really only available at nighttime unless it's a weekday and I'm not busy in the evening. Go ahead and add me on Playstation if you want, it's the same username as my youtube account.
Bloodborne is a great intro to the soulsborne series because its fast and rewarding. Good for people who are used to faster games and once they learn this game learning Dark Souls is just a little bit easier.
You know I have a pretty weird build myself. Basically I just stumble around helplessly until I run into loot or a boss and I just keep doing until I build some weird mix of stats and weapons
It's actually crazy... I'm in the middle of my sixth run-through at NG+ (using primarily the Amygalan Arm and Executioner Gloves) and I'm just realizing that there is so much more to learn, and seeing the variety of possibilities and builds just shows how replayable this game is. Unless From makes a sequel, there will never be another game like Bloodborne again; it is in a class of its own.
Coming back to this, the one thing I really feel it was missing is an acknowledgement of builds meant to remain within NG invasion/co-op range. The BL 43-59 builds. Outside of events (this PS+, Return to Yharnam, streamers), the best place to catch multiplayer that isn't duels and isn't in chalice dungeons is at low levels. The levels that catch the majority of people making a new build or picking up the game for a single playthrough with friends. BL 120 will put you in a place where you'll find plenty of duelists in Frontier, Loft, and maybe a chalice fight club, but the only co-op you'll be able to find semi-reliably is via random chalice search or external websites (r/huntersbell). Likewise, invading people actually going through the level is seldom seen at BL 120 anymore. An updated version of a video like this could also mention the false depth and altered chalice dungeons made explicitly to make gem farming less of a chore. I think those came into being after you made this video, and iirc you made a video on them when they became known.
I literally bought a ps5 off Facebook marketplace last week pretty much exclusively for Bloodborne. It is my first PlayStation since the ps2. Played all the soulsborne on PC, and yes that includes Bloodborne by using PS+ on my PC last year. Sadly I couldn’t play the DLC that way, and even with it just being the base game, it quickly became my favorite FromSoft game and possibly my favorite game of all time, I am so freaking excited to hit the DLC and get them juicy DLC weapons!
Just so everyone knows if you go to BL150 you can still PvP BL120s but you can also have the cooler builds like STR/ARC, STR/BLT, SKL/BLT, and 99 ARC. You can also make some of these work at BL130 as long as you don’t level endurance :)
My group is thinking about starting, and maybe half of us have already played. I showed them this guide. Also I love how obnoxiously loud the Logarius Wheel is so I'm going STR ARC
For quality weapons, I find that hitting the hardcap of the major stat and the softcap of the the lesser stat and Vitality, while not as effective as 50/50/50, is a good starting point because of the softcaps. From there, you can adjust your Vitality, Endurance, and the lesser stat to get the balance of HP, stamina, and damage you desire. Most of my favorite weapons are quality, and this approach has worked very well for me. Unlike other Soulsborne games, the base stamina is fairly forgiving in Bloodborne, so it's alright to neglect leveling it if you can handle yourself with a lower stamina cap.
ADDENDUM: If you're seeing this, I made a shorter guide on how newer players ought to progress through their first playthrough, if you're curious for more info. It also should be easier to digest as well. Thank you for watching and may the good blood guide your way! ruclips.net/video/uyeUcfQI2MY/видео.html EDIT (4/27/2020): A million views. By the time I stopped playing Sotfs and picked up bloodborne I was able to run through without seeing much pvp or pve co-op. (yes I had the bell on). I didnt get why it died off so fast. Most of my friends who really got into bloodborne were already back to sotfs by the time I got to the open invasion areas with horror stories of 20 heal invasions and how boring the pvp was. Khknight did some interesting tournaments still up on his channel but there wernt many tryhards making build guides. So it is really awesome that you did this. I thought the pace of bloosborne pvp made it look great. Glad to see going free picked up the game again because the twinks murdering new players looks hilarious in the many compilations being pumped out. p.s 8:14
Revan619 Ive got over 1200 hours into Bloodborne and have never had issues summoning for Coop. And at the PvP spots barley have any healers. Now they are back because they game was free of course. And you don’t get allot of PvP across the game as their aren’t many places you can invade a single player. The things I hate about Bloodborne is its lack of truly good PvP players and it’s broken gun mechanics. The inability to rest and restock, the inability to host decent fight clubs, build diversity, lack of gank squads and an arena.
Ps5 just came out, and plenty of players, or at least a few, are very thankful to the work you’ve put in here. I’m enjoying bloodborne a ton, and somehow it’s still active. Gotta love the souls games for making dedicated players who will stick with their games until the end of days.
Awesome refresher video. Theres been quite a few guides (new-ish) on Reddit but no recent videos. Thanks for the effort. Loving return to yharnam and i made a twink BT build for the occaison :)

Really wish they’d would just keep coming out with more locations and weapons for the game. That way they don’t make a sequel if there ever is one and possibly screw it up
John Turner yeah why they stop at 1 expansion is crazy. They should have just keeo adding on keeo the same game but kept making expansions. Pretty sure there will be A BB2 this game sold for too well. May not be soon but there will be guarantee that
I wish I discovered Bloodborne when it first came out, I also bought the DLC because I fell in love with this game

Is it rare for people like me to only play Soulsborne games for PvE? I've found 300ish hours of enjoyment on DS1 from PvE alone. I never do PvP. Am I missing out much? Or am I alone.
Bloodborne pvp is still good, it just has a few flaws:
-lack of wpn variety in blt and arc
-the pvp community is kinda dead
-BLOOD GEM FARMING
I don’t like PVP. But I won’t back down from an invader. I have only been playing BB for a month (already pkatinumed it too) and I think my record is 8 wins outta 10.
You're not missing anything PvP is just a sucky game mode period in my opinion - it's almost always tacked on and just shit - I have met some cool people while online gaming though.
Obamagon you’re not alone, I’ve put over 400 hours in bloodbornes pve, ds1, and ds3’ s pve.

This video is an immense help for players of all skill levels and I'm glad it's still here for us to use.

Rehvion probably the best gems you can get from the false depths are 22.3% +8 flat damage. Good for twinks, buuuttt not for 120's.
Rehvion Hi, my Bloodborne got corrupted recently and I have to beat the game to ng+7 all over again and then make a meta character. Overall I just want to have fun and I'm bored beating the game 8 times again so you can join my streams if you want. Bye. No advertising, just bored.
Rehvion hey man I'm just wondering why not get each of the upgradeable stats to the max? Would that not work ...
spencer rombough today I think the enemies scale up with you, so the diminishing returns wouldnt be worth it whatsoever.
Exquisite Corpse "spells"
It's sad that you quit the game though, that's why i always tell to people to focus on making the game enjoyable for new players...
Hardest part about making your build:
Character Creator, and coming up with a cool name ;)
That boss always takes an hour or more SMH
@@aletaris minimum an hour
That's definitely true. Especially your name influences your character. I tought making a Scholar Knight character for Grand Archives invasions and to be honest I regret making that(Crystal LKGS is just cursed). I decided to change it into Cleric Knight with Blessed LKGS but since my name was Scholar it stuck on me lol.
@@Merty1388 I know exactly what you are saying. I love making characters for a specific purpose also, like I have a character that helps people through the forbidden woods in Bloodborne

-Mufasa - Bought the DLC...
I don't regret it!
Ethan Orozco did you beat ludwig yet? Lmao
I want to buy it but I've heard the Orphan of Kos is fucking insane.
-Mufasa - Second best DLC in any Fromsoft in my opinion. Ringed city wins for me.

What's even crazier than it being 3 years since Bloodborne was released, is it being 6 years since this video was released.
Using echoes to buy vials is so much smarter.
Most heartwarming outrow ever love this guy. Wat he’s this video years ago on my first play through just got bloodborne on ps5 starting another play through video is still golden.

Olmstead Runyon True, still a great game

Bloodborne is a great intro to the soulsborne series because its fast and rewarding. Good for people who are used to faster games and once they learn this game learning Dark Souls is just a little bit easier.

Yooo, shoutout to that sweet lofi playlist!
It’s 2023 and I’m barely playing it for the first time now. Thank you
Who's here in 2024
I am.
@@J_M_RnR so am i playing my first souls game bloodborne was the cheapest so here we go.

Chikara AMV its You're* though.
Oh, I see YOU'RE also a scholar?
Hats off for making the best build video that’s still relevant just about 5 years out of release 👏🏾
Just so everyone knows if you go to BL150 you can still PvP BL120s but you can also have the cooler builds like STR/ARC, STR/BLT, SKL/BLT, and 99 ARC. You can also make some of these work at BL130 as long as you don’t level endurance :)
New player of about two days so I caught this at the perfect time. Thanks for the help!
I replayed bloodborne again recently and still my favourite fromsoft game
It’s so awesome!
Thank God for this video. Because I had just recently got bloodborne and I don't know how to use most of the stuff
My group is thinking about starting, and maybe half of us have already played. I showed them this guide. Also I love how obnoxiously loud the Logarius Wheel is so I'm going STR ARC
Moonlight blade is part of the "hard" builds.
I have an obsession with that weapon I have to use it in every Soulsborne game.
Challenge accepted.
Seems like the video is delayed as if March 2024
Still the best build guide for bloodborne 6 years later
ADDENDUM: If you're seeing this, I made a shorter guide on how newer players ought to progress through their first playthrough, if you're curious for more info. It also should be easier to digest as well. Thank you for watching and may the good blood guide your way!

EDIT (4/27/2020): A million views. I can't describe how I'm feeling at seeing such a number. Thank you all so much for viewing and for your support! If you have subscribed, I will do my best to make it worth it. Stay safe out there, strangers and friends! We ain't dead yet.
EDIT (7/8/2020): I cut out the beginning minute of this video. I wanted to get quicker to the intro/info as I could. Hope y'all have been keeping well out there! Thanks for watching :D
Dangit Jim. To think I just spent half an hour rewatching this for the umpteenth time, too!
Dude, you are awesome! I watched this vid when bloodborne was free on ps+ and would call myself a "Veteran" now.. but im not good in explaining and got my gf to play with me so i wanted to show her this vid. Thank you so much for still making content on this subject! I really apprecheat it!
I need help please am struggling in the unseen village really bad
@@gargola1887 die you go there After killing Rom? Or with the Sack Boys?
@@DasBienchenThea rom and then went there and everyone is almost one shotting me and everything is scary i need to farm please where to go??

This has now lead me to the belief that I should open all videos with an Obi-Wan style, "Hello there."

The thing is, when you're doing coop, the game's framerate is just.... let's just say it isn't the best
This video is super useful and fun I just started playing bloodborne and needed more insight about the whole pvp scene 😊👍
I will never stop playing this game
Me too
9/2021 & just started it again for my new PS5...
I've played this game all the way through like 7 times, and I still constantly refer to this for new build ideas
13:40 that made me spit my coffee, well done for putting in there! 🤣
"you should never level your endurance past 40 ever", *looks at my maxed character* shit i think i fucked up,
Get some stamina runes and you'll be combo god.
I keep coming back to this video because the humor is just spot on
skill is probably the easiest to start w/ The game highly encourages parry/visceral
Awesome refresher video. Theres been quite a few guides (new-ish) on Reddit but no recent videos. Thanks for the effort.
Loving return to yharnam and i made a twink BT build for the occaison :)
Just wanna let you know I watch this every now and then mostly to listen to the outro bit where you talk about remembering what and who is important to you. Good words for life in general 🙏
Bloodtinge, arcane you say well goodbye weekends I guess.
sinclair21 ikr im going to do a bt/arc build, arcane alone is one of the most versatile builds, after the weeks of grinding atleast
Joppiseni is bloodtinge and arcane good?
Nolan Picardo its a pain in the ass to farm the gems but bloodtinge weapons are very good and arcane just destroys some bosses with the hunter tools and the bonus item discovery helps with farming
Dangitjm awesome video. I just bought bloodborne yesterday. Thanks so much sir and I was watching a video by Maximilian dood and found this video
i’m coming back to this video after a long break from bloodborne and it is STILL helpful. great job dude seriously, and thanks a bunch
I just started playing Bloodborne. It’s my first game in the Souls series. I’m fucking lost. Watched enough videos to have an idea of what I’m getting in to. Much thanks for the tips!
