As pointers for specific stats: -Skill gives you the most bang for your buck. Fast weapons fit better into Bloodborne combat and the visceral damage boost is huge. If you're not a soulsbourne vet, this is a good first focused build. -Strength is superior for seasoned players. You lose out on the boost to visceral damage, but with strength scaling gems even skill scaling weapons can compete. Better overall variety in play. -Bloodtinge, one of the hardest builds to make. You won't get a decent weapon til well past halfway through the game. But once you get there you'll breeze through the rest of the game. -Arcane, where Bloodtinge has a challenging early-mid game, arcane has a challenging endgame. You can't get high tier elemental gems until the very last area of the dlc or deep into the chalice dungeons. But the access to hunter tools and the ability to convert weapons to multiple damage types makes this kind of build fantastic
Can I add that arcane is the only stat that stays usefull beyond all softcaps. 99 arcane is pretty challenging due to the fact the most powerful tools are late game and dlc, combined with the low hp you have due the build. Yet most tools and molotovs scale with arcane so with the right runes you obliterate everything in pve. That and the oil urn + flamethrower+ bone ash is something
Speed Lee made a pure arc guide video. He used flamesprayer for most early bosses, and said it was pretty easy. Endgame still sucked though, needing to farm cold abyssals is just bullshit. Here's part 1: ruclips.net/video/y6TWvIZ1LhQ/видео.html
"You want your character to look cool you want your character to use really cool weapons, and above all you want your character to be able to survive." Jimbo, it would seem we have opposite priorities.
As one of the decent players of the game, this build is pretty solid for getting through Bloodborne as it does branch into different builds that you want to use. Want STR/ARC Quality and vice versa? Go ahead. There's many different options you can take if you follow this guide. If part 2 of this does come out, go and watch it. JM has a lot of experience when it comes to build-making. If you are reading this, hope you are having a good day (besides the virus panic going on and all.) I may not be a good pvper, but that's okay. You just need to practice. Practice reading the pattern your opponent has. Predict what they're about to do and punish them if they guess incorrectly.

Thank you, this is my first entry into the soulsborne series and its almost overwhelming at first(all the mob deaths/leveling ect). But I beat the cleric beast on my second try and damn that felt good, had 0 blood viles and half a life bar on victory, this game is amazing.
Bb was my first soulsborne game and I started with an arcane build because I liked the ring to "Cruel Fate". Man, this is still one of my favorite channels on RUclips of all time. Thank you for your wonderful content (especially loving the Bloodborne and the underrated series!) and I look forward to watching your next video
I actually just picked up Bloodborne, a friend was always talking about soulsborne games years back and they always told me to pick them up and get gud like he was. We don't talk much anymore, and I honestly got annoyed by him, because of it, but the lore is amazing and the mechanics are fun. I'm really enjoying the game and I love your videos on it. Keep up the good work, and may your hunt go well!
The stat grind aspect has actually always been my biggest gripe since Demon's Souls itself. My introduction to this return to skill-based action was the original Monster Hunter, and I fell in love. Stats weren't everything, and those that did matter, it wasn't about making a universal build, but rather tailoring your build to _that_ target, and being able to swap out; the skill wasn't coming up with the build and running with it, but learning the target and how to deal with that one. I always felt the leveling mechanics in the Souls franchise took away from some of that skill aspect, not least because it's _possible_ to just grind and end up with sufficient stats that, while you can't just put your cat on the gamepad, you're all but facerolling.
Late to the party, but I totally agree and it’s a large factor in my choice to go for an ARC build for my first playthrough. I think using items and switching between fire, bolt and arc damage for each enemy sounds like a blast!
@@prawn1717 late for me too but if you want a cool fun build do a bleed build using the chikage I got the extra good one right away from a specific chalice dungeon. It does a crazy amount of damage and the bleed adds up
@@Skankhunt-hl9zj Since then, I've done a playthrough of BB and (through chalices mostly) tried every weapon in the game. Bloodtinge is fun, but a little too restrictive for me with only 3-4 weapon choices. I also don't care for the guns much. My favorite weapons are definitely in the STR/ARC categories!
Got the saw spear right at the start, invested heavily in Skill, and destroyed even the DLC bosses in NG+ without much trouble...I was actually surprised XD
My first time to handle a PS controller in years and I come back via Bloodborne. I am loving this game and doing my first NG+ of it for the items and questlines I missed. Too bad I wasn't able to see your video before but still it was a helpful watch. Thanks!😁👍
Thanks for the vid, man. My build for my first playthrough (it was almost a year ago) was "Whatever makes my Saw Cleaver stronger". So it was Strength for 50% of the game then I got a Fire gem, put all my points in Arcane and stopped after beating Vicar Amelia in NG+1. I started a new playthrough monday, with a pure skill build and I'm finally gonna play the DLC /o/
Always watch your videos as soon as they pop up and I'm never disappointed. Just now building a pure arcane character and your chalice dungeon skip video was a godsent. Keep up the good work, hoonter
The way i have always treated games from soft and others with a similar base structure is that Stats=you are gonna have an easier time But everything can be overcome with what everyone likes to call "getting good" Everything beyond that simply makes it Abit easier Stats matter quite alot but take more of a secondary role compared to other games As long as they are roughly adequate for the part of the game you are at Then u rarely need more and just grinding for a few extra stats for hours is way less valuable or effective overall than practicing a boss or trying to get past an area you are stuck on
4:00 I agree totally as a bloodborne player. This will give a new player a wonderful mixture!! Different tools to use. WEAPONS!!! WITH plenty of Health to be tanky.
70 to 80? I been playing bloodborne for years now and I have never reached the end of the game with less than level 90, unless I actually want a low level build and go out of my way to NOT use the extra echos
with bloodborne being my favorite game of all time, i was kinda sad when i thought the fan base had pretty much dissapeared and it makes me happy to see that parts of it are still alive!
Nice video JM! Good to make a video like this. Cruel fate often times will be a better starting class for some of these builds if they want to use 15 arc, but overall the points made are perfect :) Also thanks for the SO! Take care man!
I want to clarify for those viewers out there who see this comment; Scorched isn't wrong. If you want a jumpstart into Arcane and will not be using Bloodtinge whatsoever, the Cruel Fate Origin is the best possible start for that. Most players want to use every level they can get in order to have the most optimized setups. If you're interested in making an Arcane build, I recommend looking up "Building 99 Arcane: It's Easy, Even at the Beginning" by Speed Lee. Link: ruclips.net/video/y6TWvIZ1LhQ/видео.html
Wow, so I was just watching your partizan vid, and clicked over to this one. The last words I heard from the partizan vid were "unfortunately for you", and imagine my surprise when it's the first thing I hear in this one
This guide helped me complete Bloodborne which I have stopped 5 years ago. A few days ago I’ve finally completed it as well as the DLC for the first time! Can’t believe I actually Platinumed a Souls Game! I hope you’ll make another guide for Dark Souls 3 and perhaps Elden Ring too.
Literally only just fired this game up today omg I loved it after 5 mins I’m no souls game Jedi but I love these types of games how did I not play this gem ❤
I just bought the game so im going through guides/tips on yt. I know im going to suck so thank you for making these videos.gives me hope ill actually do some good xD
Essentially it comes down to: - Invest in vitality, especially in the early to mid game - Ignore endurance - Ignore bloodtinge unless you're making a bloodtinge build - Check the weapon scaling of the weapons you want to use and level your stats accordingly First soft cap is almost always 25, second one is 50. After each soft cap you get less in return for investing in that stat, so leveling a stat above 50 is not usually recommended. (Arcane is the exception, the damage scales well with hunter tools all the way to 99 arcane) And last but not least, unless you're making a pure arcane build don't use blood gems on your weapons that affect elemental damage (fire/bolt/arcane). Using a gem like that removes the physical damage from your weapon and makes the weapon scale only with the arcane stat. This is very detrimental to not-arcane builds. That's pretty much how you make a bloodborne build. It's much easier to do than it sounds. Also, don't upgrade your gun all the way unless you're on a bloodtinge build. Upgrading it barely affects the damage and doesn't affect parry timing. I usually upgrade my pistol just to the point where I can add a bloodgem and plug in a gem that slowly regens my health. If you have questions regarding something, don't be afraid to ask. If it's something specific it's often easier to ask than it is to search all over the internet.
I like many started playing Bloodborne, and quit due to steep difficulty, then thanks to you and other youtubers. I recently beat the cleric beast for the first time.
Keep going. I found it gets even better after your first playthrough and you get more skilled. It's much more fun once you're not afraid anymore from the monsters that are lurking, and make your way though them like a true blooddrunk hunter.
As a Beast Cutter worshipper, 10 END would lead to the END of my character. I love to style on the enemies so having enough stamina to do an R1 combo and then backstep into an L1 attack is so fun to do.
dangitjm: UUUUUUUNfortunately for you, it is Jim. Also dangitjm after realizing we love his content and want more of it: UUUUUUUUNfortunately for you, that is all from me for today.
This video saved me, tried to play blood borne years ago and took me weeks to get to the witches, started playing the game yesterday again from the beginning with this build, and I’m already past them today. Shit really is easy mode
You did a great job with this one JM. I didn’t look up a build guide on my first playthrough to avoid any and all online spoilers, but now that I’m saddled with my 40/40 meta build with only 45 vit, a whopping 30 endurance, and no arcane for Hunter tools, I am regret
I’m on my first playthrough and already have 20 endurance. I stopped there, but oooops. I really wish they had a respec option in this game like they did in dark souls two!!
This quality build was similar to the one I used to beat the game for the first time. Maybe I invested more in endurance and less in bloodtinge and arcane. Now I have an arcane strength build and later on I would play with a bloodtinge-skill build. Problem is there isn't much more except this combinations. However, Bloodborne is pure love (bloody love :D )
I love ur content, been watching for quite a while now. Ive been looking forward to this event and i feel like this video is gonna help me not make a crap character. Ur awesome
Fun fact the two largest pools of players are 120 and 150 so it’s recommended to run 138 so you can match with both. I hoped on today in a common dueling ground and got 9 duels back to back ❤️
Thank you, I've just starting Bloodborne this week. I'm farming up until the first boss just to get my levels up. My biggest trouble is the ogre types with the big square block weapons. For whatever reason I struggle with them. Thanks for the help.
120 to 125 BL is pretty good and so is 150 love that to see that a quality build is still a strong starter build lol always bin my favorite build to play on
I recently went pure vit just to see what it would be like. A beginner build maxing out completely on and vit and vigor is ridiculously easy. I can't believe it

I just started Bloodborne a few days ago....I wish I would have saw this video sooner...I'm at LV 187....
I'm so glad people are still talking about this game.
The way i have always treated games from soft and others with a similar base structure is that
Stats=you are gonna have an easier time
But everything can be overcome with what everyone likes to call "getting good"
Everything beyond that simply makes it Abit easier
Stats matter quite alot but take more of a secondary role compared to other games
As long as they are roughly adequate for the part of the game you are at
Then u rarely need more and just grinding for a few extra stats for hours is way less valuable or effective overall than practicing a boss or trying to get past an area you are stuck on
4:00 I agree totally as a bloodborne player.
Welp, while I'm quarantined here in Seattle, might as well hunt some beasts!
its for your own good
You are a good man, thank you for the solid guidance. People like you are one of the reasons I love soulsborne games
with bloodborne being my favorite game of all time, i was kinda sad when i thought the fan base had pretty much dissapeared and it makes me happy to see that parts of it are still alive!
Nice video JM! Good to make a video like this. Cruel fate often times will be a better starting class for some of these builds if they want to use 15 arc, but overall the points made are perfect :)
Also thanks for the SO!

You got me through my first full run on bloodborne. Thanks!
Awesome video! Jumping back into the game after a long time, and this is a great help
2020 and I'm excited to jump back into this game again after not playing for a few years. Thanks for the refresher Aloha 🤙🏼
Wow, so I was just watching your partizan vid, and clicked over to this one. The last words I heard from the partizan vid were "unfortunately for you", and imagine my surprise when it's the first thing I hear in this one
Damn you JM, I want to play BB now. This heresy won't go unnoticed, I'll see you in Yharnam...
Thank you very much for the video brother.
Here we are, December 2024 and I’m finally going to play bloodbourne. I can’t wait.
5:06 it’s intents and purposes, intensive makes it sound like it only matters on the extreme cases
Gaming is serious business.
Good info, just what I was looking for.
Thank you for making it.
Tnx mate..needed this one...since all my previous memory was lost..this truly saved my skin and I'm back at NG+!
Literally only just fired this game up today omg I loved it after 5 mins I’m no souls game Jedi but I love these types of games how did I not play this gem ❤
i followed this, finished the game with BL 75...i’m on my 2nd play through...will continue this build till BL 120...thanks man! a noob kid here! hehe
Hit the platinum years ago, have all the best gems and still play this game on the reg. This generations finest.
I just bought the game so im going through guides/tips on yt. I know im going to suck so thank you for making these videos.gives me hope ill actually do some good xD
Essentially it comes down to:
- Invest in vitality, especially in the early to mid game
- Ignore endurance
- Ignore bloodtinge unless you're making a bloodtinge build
- Check the weapon scaling of the weapons you want to use and level your stats accordingly
First soft cap is almost always 25, second one is 50. After each soft cap you get less in return for investing in that stat, so leveling a stat above 50 is not usually recommended. (Arcane is the exception, the damage scales well with hunter tools all the way to 99 arcane)
And last but not least, unless you're making a pure arcane build don't use blood gems on your weapons that affect elemental damage (fire/bolt/arcane).
@@SunlessSage this info is much appreciated, u the man
Thank you so much for your excellent videos bro. I feel like I'm being guided by a master Hunter. Blood! Blooooood!
I love to style on the enemies so having enough stamina to do an R1 combo and then backstep into an L1 attack is so fun to do.
thank you for this video he helped me to understand the game much better since I'm a new player
god im so not good at this game but the challenge is soooo masochistically alluring
Just letting you know that even in 2023, this is super helpful dude. Better late than never, am I right? Lol
Chikage is such a fun weapon and that bloodtinge playstyle fits bloodborne so well imo! But def agree that it's not for beginners.
About to lay Bloodborne again then your video popup, talk about good timing.
dangitjm: UUUUUUUNfortunately for you, it is Jim.
Also dangitjm after realizing we love his content and want more of it: UUUUUUUUNfortunately for you, that is all from me for today.
Love you Jim! Thanks for putting out these incredible resources
Love the channel, straight to the point
Giving Bloodborne a 2nd playthrough
Those ogres are perfect parrying practice. Keep going!
Parry or walk up close enough for a charge up r2 and then hit them once after with a regular r2 and their dead
Hell yea new bloodborne video!
I can't believe I barely started playing this game just now. But very helpful video.
Very insightful JM! I appreciate your great ones wisdom :)
YES new vid:-) gonna use this for the return this year.
Just saw your last video commented on that one and needed to also comment on this one because this video is so so helpful. Thank you!
This has encouraged me to give Bloodborne the chance It should have gotten.
120 to 125 BL is pretty good and so is 150 love that to see that a quality build is still a strong starter build lol always bin my favorite build to play on
I think im ready to get started.. wish me luck
5:01 - I've died to that enemy probably more times than any other enemy in the game, more than a lot of bosses.
Yea those guys suck ass
This was my 2nd game ever(Contra 1st). I've had it for 2 years now, had given up playing it(in central Yarnahm) this video helped change that 👍
I haven't even started the video and I've already liked it. I need this video! XD
I recently went pure vit just to see what it would be like. A beginner build maxing out completely on and vit and vigor is ridiculously easy. I can't believe it
wow I started playing when you made the first video and now im going to replay it
