    ---
    Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

    It's funny and weird to see how many people actually believed Slattery was truly angry with Colbert. He wasn't even being that serious, he broke his mean/catty character a few times while telling the story.

    • @seanlewis3381
      @seanlewis3381 8 лет назад +3

      I just said Toronto out loud 4 times. I'm also Canadian and had no clue I didn't pronounce the T. But sure enough I just said "toronno" 4 times. It feels really weird to force the T sound. That is an unofficial silent t. Im sticking with my Toronno and I will also keep calling water "wader" which was pointed out to me also. I guess the Canadian accent is not pronouncing T's or saying them as d's. Kinds cool. I didn't feel like I had an accent.

    • @JWiLL0255
      @JWiLL0255 8 лет назад +1

      Us Toronto folk don't have the "Canadian" accent. More rural parts of Ontario and the Prairies definitely do. Then the Maritimes are something else entirely!

    • @JWiLL0255
      @JWiLL0255 8 лет назад +2

      ***** We don't have the "Canadian accent' that Americans like to make fun of, is my point. Nobody here is saying "aboot". That's a rural Canadian thing, not something you'd hear in a city like Toronto or Ottawa too often.

      It was one of my favourite shows, at the time ... I remember hearing that there was a US version in the works, but then no further updates. Interesting to find out some of the background about that project -- especially involving two performers I really like (Slattery and Colbert). Since then I've been hoping that someone else will take up the idea, and when I heard about "The Newsroom" on HBO several years ago I got all excited, only to learn that it was a different show altogether.

    Can you imagine beating out Slattery for a role? Especially if your career took a different direction afterwards? Now that I see them both together, I can see how they were up for the same role.
