When "Joan" walks out, the only person who doesn't watch her leave is Bill Hader as Sal. That's some attention to detail.

I didnt know during the first two seasons. I guess I was overwhelmed with everything going on and just took Sal at face value. He was the part of the ensemble that I didnt really pay attention to.

That was the trademark of Don’s ad pitches. Lots of nostalgia and daydreaming - it got people everytime. He really knew how to sell.

It's all about words in the ad world. And you won't get too far with the wrong name. Not right or fair, but true.

What a great parody on the real Mad Men. And to be able to secure three main characters from the show is a brilliant casting move by SNL. Then ‘ Don Draper’ is able to deliver a powerful sales pitch here is as brilliant as the Carousel scene in the original series. Very enjoyable. Thank you!
I think credit has to go to the writers for that pitch. Hats off.
they didnt cast them. They just asked that they would be on a mad men cast episode of SNL and they all agreed. They didnt need to cast anyone they already knew they would play the parts for a show dedicated to these actors.

roybenari Well, the problem is that "stills" reverses the meaning. I thought at first that you meant that he sucks so much he "stills" the show. As in stills the audience and they don't laugh, that's probably why that's not a mistake you can write off :)
Well, once you eliminate the impossible (Bill Hader sucks), the improbable (me making a mistake) becomes the only possible answer...

"do your marylin monroe impression" has to be the funniest thing I've seen in a while
One thing to appreciate about Jon Hamm visiting SNL: he always comes knowing his lines. By now most guests, hosts, cast members stand there, and stare at a cue card, reading lines. Unfunny lines.
You can tell he’s reading from cards at parts on this sketch but I don’t blame him. I’ve heard SNL oftentimes finish writing these sketches mere hours before going on air and oftentimes rewriting them minutes before airing so changes are constantly being made which makes coming in with your lines learned nigh impossible.

I don't know what you expected but Mad Men is not like a regular mainstream show of today where some action has to happen every 3 min to keep the viewers short attention span satisfied.

One of the best sketches I’ve seen from SNL in years! That was great!
I remember watching this live back in the day when i felt like I was the only person on the planet that watched this show. I just loved it, and it became a big deal, but at the time no one I knew watched it. This was before social media (largely) and streaming and the growth of RUclips. That all figured, I was SOOOO impressed by Will Forte's impression of Pete Campbell. He just nails his diction and inflection in a way that says he either watched the show or just did his homework for a throwaway sketch. The sketch is uneven (largely because of the insert of the two obnoxious characters) but that Pete impression still kills me. Even the way he says egg cream. Bravo, Forte.
I wish they put him in a blue or teal suit to make him more obvious.
I just binge watched seasons 1 and 2 of mad men. And youtube magically recommended this sketch. But damn is it spot on. Even the guy who plays Pete campbell does it perfectly.
