I can't wait to learn this in standard tuning. I had to tune D G C F# A D to get near the tone of Sailing. I still didn't get the song right. Thank you again Eric.
As recently retired, finding your site has really gotten me interested in playing again. I have checked out a dozen other tutorial sites and yours is the most organic. For instance when looking at fire and rain all others were tuning the guitar to "C" just because it matches James voice. I love him but lm note interested in his pitch of voice. Same in a sense with sailing, you proved that alternative tuning is generally unnecessary. Old school, lessons should always be taught in open cords. I use G tuning for slide and that's it. Since your only 6 months older than me July 22 /53 l think we are tuned to the same frequency which is why your my teacher. First songs l learned were Midnight hour, wipe out and house of the rising sun. Thanks for your help Eric, the more l read about you the more impressed l am. Thanks, its a joy to watch you work.

@@EricBlackmonGuitar i wish it was just Covid. I had a condo in New York when the "peaceful protesters" came and destroyed my neiborhood and burned everything. Even though l lost $400,000 on my condo l got off easy. Shopkeepers didn't fare as well. Anyway, luckily l have a home in Canada on a beautiful lake and just bought a Gibson SG standard 61' edition with tremelo. Gotta go, Eric my tutor is ready for my next lesson. Your the best! Thanks 😊
Wow! I play this song with it's odd tuning. Such an emotional song. Have you ever tried to play Breath Again by Toni Braxton, this one helped me through a divorce.
I used to play that in a band way back when! Will have to keep that one in mind for the future. I have always loved this song, but when I found that it was played in an alternate tuning, I knew right away that it could played in standard because of the way it sounds. You will be surprised when the lesson comes out.

Hi Eric, because lm in Canada its difficult with Covid, shipping costs and delays. However l am a duel citizen and have many friends in The U.S. a friend in Michigan is ordering several things and as a trucker can bring them across the border. If there is a will, there is away. @@EricBlackmonGuitar i wish it was just Covid. I had a condo in New York when the "peaceful protesters" came and destroyed my neiborhood and burned everything. Even though l lost $400,000 on my condo l got off easy. Shopkeepers didn't fare as well. Anyway, luckily l have a home in Canada on a beautiful lake and just bought a Gibson SG standard 61' edition with tremelo. Gotta go, Eric my tutor is ready for my next lesson. Your the best! Thanks 😊

Wow! I play this song with it's odd tuning. Such an emotional song. Have you ever tried to play Breath Again by Toni Braxton, this one helped me through a divorce.
I used to play that in a band way back when! Will have to keep that one in mind for the future. I have always loved this song, but when I found that it was played in an alternate tuning, I knew right away that it could played in standard because of the way it sounds. You will be surprised when the lesson comes out.
Please do the lesson on this! In standard? All I've seen is E tuning... I Kno I've ask you before but, hook me up with how or who to get that shirt man!

I thought it was impossible to use standard tuning to play Sailing 😅 Doable but takes effort at first.
You said it. ANYTHING can be played in standard tuning, WITH EFFORT. That is the only reason folks change the tuning. To remove the effort. Thanks so much for watching Eddie!
