Silver Cymbal, i have seen many do lawn care videos but Your the Dopest dude in Lawn Care. I watch every video you post because there is no smoke and mirrors with your content. I have the 5 Gallon Blue backpack sprayer by Jacto you reviewed in another video. Thank you Silver, Thank You!
@@BornBeatz Thank you very much, the Jacto is a great sprayer. I like the Sprayers plug due to the better cost but the Jacto is absolutely amazing, but does cost a little more. Thanks for the kind comment.
Do you have any advice on how to get rid of Bermuda in a tall fescue lawn?
please i have a question with the trimmers : you gave this model of Makita XRU09PT1 18V X2 (36V) LXT however i think it is discontinue and they are now selling this model XRU15PT1 18V X2 (36V) LXT. what is the difference or they are the same and do the same job
@@marvinmensah2956 Im not sure about the difference in the two models yet.
More and more, your channel is my 'go-to' channel for everything to do with taking care of my yard. Your videos are clear, concise, and well articulated. Thank you so much for the effort you put into the video production and how much you benefit the community of lawn lovers.
That is very kind of you, I love making the videos and they do take a lot of time but I love interacting with folks and that they actually actually help people. Thanks again
Tim Boehm me also. I totally concur.
I have so much respect for this channel. Not trying to sell us snake oil. Thank you!!
Very nice of you to say, thank you.
Love your vids. They are direct, to the point and doable for most of us. The lawn is the domain of most guys and many of us struggle to get it the way we want it to look without breaking the bank. Your vids are very informative.
Very nice of you to say, thank you
Just wanted to say thank you for all your lawn care videos. I discovered you a couple weeks ago and having been watching these videos religiously lol. I really have learned a lot and am getting passionate about having a beautiful lawn for the first time in my life. My favorite thing is that all your suggestions are simple and do not require too much time. Your tips are doable and not overwhelming. Thanks again!
I really appreciate the kind words and you watching. Thank you and have a great season.
I used the tenacity recently after watching your video about how to use it. Just applied a bit more since newer weeds are popping up. Our grass burned after last summer’s heat (we don’t have sprinklers) so we will try your diy sprinkler system, thank you!
Moved into a new place last year with a really weedy lawn and didn’t aerate or overseed. The one thing I did have time to do was wait until the Bermuda had gone dormant and then spray tenacity like crazy. This spring I sprayed once more before the Bermuda woke up. Already have seen a MASSIVE change. The lawn keeps getting better daily as the grasses that were there are growing in and filling the lawn. I really want a fescue lawn but for now just getting weeds under control has been wonderful.
Great video once again! All the top tips right here in one convenient quick video! I just love the way you explain things. I started using humic and sea kelp last year I’m going to be throwing that down heavy this year after the big renovation last year. The lawn is totally different now from a year ago. Gotta keep up the care routine so it doesn’t slip back to the way it was. Oh and for anyone wondering, tenacity really is amazing. Kind of expensive but it’s like a wonder-weed-killer!
Thank you very much I really appreciate it. Glad to hear you have been getting great results
By far the best videos on lawn and environs on YT! IF your new to Silver he is the best and most articulate at explaining the WHY and HOW of lawn work.
That's is really very kind of yo. Thank you
I built your sprinkler stands last fall for a renovation and it worked great! Thanks!
That's awesome, so glad they have been helpful.
Live your videos. Always super helpful and you use things everyone can get and I changed my whole lawn in one season following your videos.keep me coming....
So glad they have been helpful thank you
In Oz, I use Seamungus by Neutrog all year round. I also use Bailey's 3.1.1. 4 times a year. But during the summer water restrictions, I have to use a hand held hose to water in between watering days. No sprinklers are allowed on non-watering days.
I like the tip on building a sprinkler. Thanks!! Love your channel. It's quick and to the point
I appreciate that a lot thank you
Now this is right up my alley
As usual you're helping me step up my game! Thanks.
Btw love your property. Its gorgeous.
Thank you very much I really appreciate it
I always learn so much from your videos so keep them coming.
Thanks for the tips. Definitely will have to use a couple of these tips (especially the Tenacity, I really hate Crapgrass) next season.
Got the sea kelp, humic acid and vitamin boost. Backpack sprayer on order. Can't wait to lay this mixture down.
Have used sea kelp for nearly 20 years and it is great for borders and lawns , for best results use every two weeks
Very good to hear! Thanks for this
2 weeks in, and grass is growing well. I have some areas where grass has not grown, but will address that after the first cut. I know that as weeds die, it can leave voided areas. Will update after cut. On another note, I’m doing the lawn while trying to combat voles! Man’s adversary in the battle for a great lawn!
Moles are something we don't get here I have heard they are not good though! Glad its working. I generally find that weeds here and there won't leave much holes since the grass will fill in with regular fertilization. But yes you can add a little seed and spot treat those areas. This is a simple thing I do to fix the spots from my dog. Its so quick and mos of the time it works great. ruclips.net/video/H9H9_x8EZnY/видео.html
I tried the tenacity, and working li,e a charm, thanku
Great to hear, its good stuff 😊
Excellent video and great sprinkler!
Thank you, that sprinkler was a lot of fun and really works.
Love your videos brother
From Grand Prairie, Texas
Thanks 👍
This is a great video...and you are amazing. Thank you for all you do and for all the great information.
Very nice of you to say thank you
Holy mackerel. This video is straight FIRE!! Thank you so much!
Very nice of you to say, I really appreciate that.
Thanks for another great video. I’m here in MA also and your videos have helped me manage my yard much better.
Great to hear! Thank you so much
Thank you Silver Cymbal, I love how easy to follow and concise your videos are! I’ve ordered the Humic Acid through your link but wanted to ask you. Do I have to water it in right after, or time it so that I do it on a rainy day?
I've decide this summer that I'm going to retake my lawn and your videos have been a great help. What granular fertilizer do you recommending if I am going to try overseeding?
Okay, that custom sprinkler system sounds awesome. Might wanna try that out.
Thank you, it was a fun project and really works. The video for that is here ruclips.net/video/-hfIMgxZpVQ/видео.html and based on comments and messages a few hundred people have built them and seem to like them as much as I did.
I love your videos!
They help a lot!
Thank you very much
Excellent video! Thank you for the tips.
Glad it was helpful!. Thank you
Another great video
Love it I watched many of your other videos as well this is a huge especially since I just started doing treatment on other people’s lawns.i go to site one they have the high quality Leacock fertilizer they told me one of the first things I should buy is backpack sprayer still have to get one..anyways never used humic time to start..
I picked up Tenacity after seeing your video on how to use it. I applied it without any surfactant at first and didn't really see a lot of difference. None of the clover/crabgrass turned white initially. I ordered some of the blue dye and the surfactant and went at it two weeks later with a little higher concentration of Tenacity. About the third day I still didn't see a lot and was starting to doubt how well it work. But the fourth day and fifth day EVERYTHING I sprayed had turned white and it has been another week and there is almost not trace of clover and only clumps of crabgrass to address. It took a few days but Tenacity was no joke! And for anybody using the blue dye...be careful with it as it too is pretty strong. As a wall in my garage will be a reminder of that for a while. Gonna look into the sea kelp and humeric acid next.
Wow, all the information is good about what to use, such as sea kelp, humic acid, and tenacity... I'll definitely put those on my shopping list!👍
GREAT information per usual. Thank you, sir.
Thank you very much
Great info! I like granular much better than liquid!
sea kelp did wonders for my lawn!!
That's great to hear! I love the stuff.
Great content Silver! Loved your vid of rejuvenation doing airation, overseed, tenacity...
What fertilizer blend should be used after the lawn is established for 1 year? Thx, keep up great vids. -sdub
I enjoy all of your videos but this one is definitely one of my favorites!
Question in regards to the seal kelp, can you apply it by itself, or do you recommend applying it as part of your "summer lawn cocktail"?
Also, does it have to be watered in?
THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge with us! I've been following your channel since last summer. This year I finally took the plunge and invested in a number of things you recommended, including the weeding killing solutions and as well as the sea kelp and humic acid you linked above.
The question I have for you is - how much time should I allow between the Tenacity, sea kelp, and humic acid treatments? And in what order would you do those in?
Thank you very much for the nice words, I appreciate it. Those are good questions. I would always apply Sea Kelp at least 2 weeks apart from other liquid products like sea kelp. That leaves enough time for the right absorption. Humic acid (dry) really can go on anytime but just for good sense, I would apply it at leats a few days apart from other sprays. Hope this helps
Tenacity plus speed zone has worked well in NY
So what kind of fertilizer do you recommend? I did the weed control and literally fixed all my grass thanks to you! Not that’s it’s a new year I’m curious on what fertilizer do I start with? Do you I use the acid? Or what any videos you can recommend that you’ve always covered?
Dang dude, you live in paradise. Nice work. Beautiful yard.
Thank you. I appreciate it, it was pretty rough when I moved here and no matter what size or shape your yard is in you can do a lot. This was what it was like before. ruclips.net/video/c54WSOI-MMc/видео.html
Another great video!
Thank you
Looks amazing!!!
Thanks for the advice
Great tips, thank you.
Thank you
Really enjoy your video's and Ryan Knorr you both have given me so many different avenues to try. We (wife and myself) are new home owners, we are about 6 months in and the lawn is an absolute disaster. I'd say it was 60/40% weeds to grass. Last year I sprayed down Tenacity but was not able to get new seed down. This year we are probably 50/50 weeds to grass. About 3 weeks ago i applied Tenacity again and a week later hit it with Scott's 2 in 1 weed and feed. I was pretty fortunate that we've gotten a bunch of rain since the 2 in 1 application so the grass that is there has really greened up and thickened. I have a million questions but really it boils down to 1. What should my timeline expectations be for moving my lawn from 50/50 to something like 75/25 grass to weeds?
a bit of info for you, i live in michigan and am on a pretty consistent water, fertilizer program. The lawn was neglected for years by the pervious owners so my soil is fairly compacted. My plan is to get core aeration in the fall and overseed then. I would try and seed earlier but I will probably stick with the 2 in 1 with the pre-emergent in it in order to try and kill off as many weeds as I can before they start. I also plan on another application of tenacity so I can kill off as many of the weeds as possible.
Another great video. Please include a schedule and timing plan in an update. Just got the 105ex sprayer. Not sure about what they want you to lubricate with the grease. Any insight appreciated
Your property is beautiful...love your content.
Going to try kelp this year.
Will I still benefit from this after my grass is beginning to brown from the intense heat?
Thanks for this excellent information!
Good evening, first thank you for all your expertise and experience that you share. I have a lawn that is full of weed, i would like to know how many days should i wait before aerating and a plating new seeds after applying tenacity. Thank you very much
I assume the fertilizer that you put into the spreader was pgf complete. Can you give me your thoughts on it or maybe make a video about it? Lots of information out there that’s all over the place...The one thing I like about your videos is you’re no BS and get straight to the facts, good or bad. Appreciate the channel and your information sir 👍
Thanks for your video. Which granular fertilizer do you recommend for cool season grass and how often do you apply it?
Other great video man keep up the great work
Thank you
Beautiful lawn👍Tfs
I appreciate that thank you
It is time to apply scotts triple action to to fight onslsught of crabgrass and other weeds. I'll do the sea kelp treatment and granular fertilizer later. I like your vids
Hello
Thank you so much for the very informative videos!
I need a video about how to fertilize the lawn without burning it , it is usually happing to me!
Thanks for the videos. Can you use a hose end sprayer for the kelp mixture?
Awesome tips...it would have made it easier for someone like me, for you to mention when they should be applied.
he replied this to another comment:
I like to the the kelp about a month into spring to help the plants along, then when daytime temps are over 85 or super hot I will apply it monthly. Even if you apply less you still get benefits so some is actually still much better than none. For humic acid, if using the concentrated granular I showed here once a year in spring is fine, or if you have very poor soil which is what I had before I will do 2-3 times a year for the first year and then once a year after. Hope this helps
Great video! Bought a house in Southern NH last fall (didn't get to core aerate or seed in the fall) but seeding this weekend. You have so many good tips, but I struggle on the timing. Since we are in the same region, can you let me know your timing. Fertizile every 6 weeks, etc. Tenacity weeds when you see them. This would be a HUGE help!
Thank you, this video might help you some: ruclips.net/video/eWdsIUBYf6I/видео.html
Love your videos!!! You are the best!
I was planning to apply humic acid to my lawn, but unfortunately, the only type I was able to find here in Canada is Green Planet one, and it comes in liquid form.
Do you think I can get the same result with this type of humic acid?
How often should it be applied?
Thanks,
Best channel for lawns for sure. Are any of these things bad for dogs? My main reason for a good lawn is my pup
This was a great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you
Great video 👍
Thank you
Good Day, thank you soooooo much for sharing your wealth of knowledge. We moved into our home last April, and the lawn provided by the builder was terrible, not to mention the soil (actually Southern MD clay and debris). Not having a clue about the process resulted in a very high level of frustration, blood pressure, and an accompanying water bill. Then I stumbled across your videos, which are very comprehensive and informative. I had a company do the plugs and I over seeded with Black Beauty. Then I waited, and waited.......with the anticipation of a soon to be new parent I was excited to see the transformation unfold. Now I have GRASS EVERYWHERE!!!, thank you again. I am especially excited to step aside and let God water the lawn for me.....Question; will you be willing to share here collectively or in a future video, the frequency of all the applications over the course of a year? Also, is there a specific granular fertilizer brand that you used in this video? Again, I am so grateful for the shared knowledge that i have become an unofficial Silver Cymbal ambassador telling as many as I can when I can to check out your site and subscribe. Many blessings to you and your family, and please continue to stay safe.
James
Thank you very much that is really nice of you to say. It sounds like you are on your way to a very nice landscape!
Looks like he was using Anderson’s PGF complete fertilizer. Also, check out Anderson’s Humichar.
That lawn fire
I just had to totally reseed my entire yard. Do you recommend these products while the grass is being established?
Great video thanks!
I appreciate it. Thank you
Hello great videos thank u. I don’t know if I missed it in this video but How much do u water?
Hello, how often to apply the Liquid Kelp and Humic Acid ? I applied in early April and the results are amazing. Thank you..
Beautiful yard
Thank you for the kind comment
Exactly what i was looking for, thanks for this. Are you still using pre-emergent or just spot spraying with tenacity?
I use pre-emergents but not to the degree some do. I try to use them in Spring but the Tenacity as a follow up is key. After your first years the weed population becomes much less too/ So life gets easier each year too.
What is that adjustable nozzle you are using? Have the same sprayer and it is amazing! Thanks for the tips 🤙🏼
Its just the one that was included with the Sprayers plus. Works great. amzn.to/2Xz8pRN
i love this channel
Very kind of you, thank you
Thanks for the tips. I've been using humic acid and kelp from the green county line. I like the sprayer tip on your battery sprayer. Where can I get one?
Thank you very much. The backpack one I used is here: amzn.to/2IslQIJ
First of all live your channy. I've learned so much over the past year. I followed your Tenacity + aerator treatment plan and my grass looks a lot better this year, however it still has weeds throughout, but a lot less then before. Should I still apply sea kelp and humic acid or wait until next year when I've controlled the weeds a little more?
Thats good to here and its working for sure. I would definitely treat the weeds first and this will result in fewer next year too, and gets better each time. Give the weed control 3 weeks total to do its thing and then go to the Kelp and humic acid.
@@SilverCymbal Thank you!
That was great. 👍👍
Thank you I hope it helps you this year with your lawn
Can I do #1 and #2 back to back or do you recommend a wait time? I just seeded last weekend and sprayed tenacity this weekend. Love you videos. Should be a big help this spring for my yard going forward.
Thank you very much You can defintiely do the sea kelp and humic acid within a short time like you asked. For Tenacity I would not apply Sea Kelp within 2 weeks just to make sure you get the maximum benefit of each. Thanks for the kind words too!
Outstanding video! Yes, the Humic DG is a great product! Will look at that Kelp. Thanks!! Also, Tenacity is only for cool season grasses. It could really harm active growing bermuda. :)
I wish I had known this before I watched his video on Tenacity and then killed 20,000 square feet of Bermuda....
how do i tell what type of grass I have?
@@mcs127 You could try a plant app on your phone or pull a few blades up and take to your local extension office or ask landscaper.
Anything similar those of us with Bermuda can use safely?
Rohit Rai I like 2-4-D or Celsius for post emergent herbicide. Both on Amazon. See my site, SunnyBermuda.com
Does your advice stay the same for florida yards and weeds? I have a mix of burmuda, bahia, and st. Augustine in my yard as well as a bunch of weeds
Yes
I live in New Orleans and my bark has some st Augustine in random patches. I have a lot of sandy patches in my yard and a lot of different variety of weeds/crab grasses. What do you recommend I do?
Hey love your vids, Amazon is all sold out of that Humic Acid any advise on where else I can buy some...also I saw Humic Acid from the same company but in a different package that the one you posted, what’s the difference? Thank you Sir
What setting do you use on your broadcast spreader to apply the Black Beauty grass seed and what setting do you use for the humid acid?
I bought the Tenacity combo you recommended. Looking forward to see the results. Would you prioritize sea kelp or the humic acid? Also when using SK and HA, do I still put down my usual fertilizer?
I’ve done the same process and I’m looking forward to seeing results. The hardest part is keeping my kids off the lawn
@@troy5292 Thanks, I appreciate your input. Unfortunately, I have to buy them before I can read the label. I probably will. If not this season than next. Do you by any chance know of a good method for testing for the right levels of nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium in soil?
Useful.
Hi Sir, what month i should to use Tenacity weed control to my lawn, i bought all items you list for weed control. But i do not what month i should use and I am living in Lawrenceville , GA. Thank you so much
What order should I do these procedures in? I want to mow, remove weeds, and thatch (using the GreenWorks machine that you recommended). I feel like there is a good or most appropriate way to do these steps if I want to fix my lawn and backyard. Also for my backyard, I may want to level it (add soil to the ends of each side since they slope down), where would I put this levelling step too? Thanks.
I live in Canada. Can't get some of these products. I do live beside NY state and able to get some of the "good stuff" but with coronavirus that's not possible right now. Any recommendations to substatute products to tenacity and your brand of Sea kelp?
I have been following you on your renovation projects. I live in Virginia Beach I managed to control my soil PH, I sprayed tenacity twice last fall and over seeded turf type long fescue made by the rebels and put some starter fertilizer. I can see the results sadly a big rain fall came right after the oversseding and I now have some bald spots. I did put down some preemergent Anderson’s barricade product and I sprayed some tenacity for the weeds that made it through. I can tell there is weeds enough for me to spray the whole yard as opposed to spot treat. I placed barricade a week a go, is it a bad idea to overseed this spring?
I want to use the humid acid from Anderson’s and some fertilizer. My hesitation is that I’m going to be doing all this to help my weeds grow stronger. If I could grade my lawn I would say I have a solid 70 out of 100. But what you said in your video at the end has me hesitating. I don’t know if my lawn is decent enough to go do the humic and fertilizer. Please share your opinion so I go head and buy these two for my lawn. Anderson has humic acid but they also have fertilizer with humic acid. Do you recommend getting them together or separate? The Andersons PGF Complete 16-4-8 Fertilizer with Humic DG is what I had in mind unless you think doing the process separate is best.
Not at all. You can overseed in Spring. I just released a video on it that may help: ruclips.net/video/nAVDDePLoNU/видео.html
Thanks for another very informative video! I started using Andersons products last year and was very pleased with the results. I also am in MA (Marion) and it appears that as nice as my lawn was last year it appears that I have an infestation of crabgrass, raking brings up big clumps with shallow roots. I am thinking of killing the entire lawn and then roll, level with topsoil, aerate, and reseed with a quality seed. I bought Andersons starter fertilizer that has Tenacity in the mix so I am hoping this will help with the weeds and get me filled in enough before summer. My question is do you think this approach is reasonable and second, do you have a good source for the Andersons spreader that you use? I have only found two vendors that sell with the side deflector, Amazon only has it without and then you have to order the deflector from Earthway. Sorry for the long message., I have learned a lot watching your videos!
Correction, the invasive species is POA not crabgrass, i treated the lawn for this last fall to prevent, apparently i did something wrong.
My first application will be barricade dg and Amp XC lime which has humic. Would you put a second round of barricade dg 6 weeks later? What do you put down for your second application?
Great video! Could you tell me when to apply these products
This might be helpful: ruclips.net/video/eWdsIUBYf6I/видео.html
What kind of grass do you have? I have a mix of Turf Type Tall Fesue and Lesco rye grass in my front and side yard about 10,000 sqft. I have a bare section in my back yard about 3000 sqft that I just need grass, nothing fancy. What do you think about Kentucky 31 fescue?
Thank you
You're welcome
Thanks for the tips, what type of tall ornamental grass do you have next to your pool gate? I’m thinking of doing something similar, thanks
Thank you very much those grass plants are absolutely the perfect plant, I made a video on them you can split them again and again too... ruclips.net/video/CptKylzKo00/видео.html
I have a problem my oak tree has sprouts coming from the roots itself. What can I do? Please give me advice and how can I make my st Augustine thicker? Thank you.
I live in Southwest Missouri. Grass will not grow in the shade under several of the trees in my yard. I've tried dense shade grass seed but it still will not grow. Any suggestions?
