    Moved into a new place last year with a really weedy lawn and didn’t aerate or overseed. The one thing I did have time to do was wait until the Bermuda had gone dormant and then spray tenacity like crazy. This spring I sprayed once more before the Bermuda woke up. Already have seen a MASSIVE change. The lawn keeps getting better daily as the grasses that were there are growing in and filling the lawn. I really want a fescue lawn but for now just getting weeds under control has been wonderful.

    Great video once again! All the top tips right here in one convenient quick video! I just love the way you explain things. I started using humic and sea kelp last year I’m going to be throwing that down heavy this year after the big renovation last year. The lawn is totally different now from a year ago. Gotta keep up the care routine so it doesn’t slip back to the way it was. Oh and for anyone wondering, tenacity really is amazing. Kind of expensive but it’s like a wonder-weed-killer!

    2 weeks in, and grass is growing well. I have some areas where grass has not grown, but will address that after the first cut. I know that as weeds die, it can leave voided areas. Will update after cut. On another note, I’m doing the lawn while trying to combat voles! Man’s adversary in the battle for a great lawn!

      Moles are something we don't get here I have heard they are not good though! Glad its working. I generally find that weeds here and there won't leave much holes since the grass will fill in with regular fertilization. But yes you can add a little seed and spot treat those areas. This is a simple thing I do to fix the spots from my dog. Its so quick and mos of the time it works great. ruclips.net/video/H9H9_x8EZnY/видео.html

    I picked up Tenacity after seeing your video on how to use it. I applied it without any surfactant at first and didn't really see a lot of difference. None of the clover/crabgrass turned white initially. I ordered some of the blue dye and the surfactant and went at it two weeks later with a little higher concentration of Tenacity. About the third day I still didn't see a lot and was starting to doubt how well it work. But the fourth day and fifth day EVERYTHING I sprayed had turned white and it has been another week and there is almost not trace of clover and only clumps of crabgrass to address. It took a few days but Tenacity was no joke! And for anybody using the blue dye...be careful with it as it too is pretty strong. As a wall in my garage will be a reminder of that for a while. Gonna look into the sea kelp and humeric acid next.

    THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge with us! I've been following your channel since last summer. This year I finally took the plunge and invested in a number of things you recommended, including the weeding killing solutions and as well as the sea kelp and humic acid you linked above.
    The question I have for you is - how much time should I allow between the Tenacity, sea kelp, and humic acid treatments? And in what order would you do those in?

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  4 года назад

      Thank you very much for the nice words, I appreciate it. Those are good questions. I would always apply Sea Kelp at least 2 weeks apart from other liquid products like sea kelp. That leaves enough time for the right absorption. Humic acid (dry) really can go on anytime but just for good sense, I would apply it at leats a few days apart from other sprays. Hope this helps

    Really enjoy your video's and Ryan Knorr you both have given me so many different avenues to try. We (wife and myself) are new home owners, we are about 6 months in and the lawn is an absolute disaster. I'd say it was 60/40% weeds to grass. Last year I sprayed down Tenacity but was not able to get new seed down. This year we are probably 50/50 weeds to grass. About 3 weeks ago i applied Tenacity again and a week later hit it with Scott's 2 in 1 weed and feed. I was pretty fortunate that we've gotten a bunch of rain since the 2 in 1 application so the grass that is there has really greened up and thickened. I have a million questions but really it boils down to 1. What should my timeline expectations be for moving my lawn from 50/50 to something like 75/25 grass to weeds?
    a bit of info for you, i live in michigan and am on a pretty consistent water, fertilizer program. The lawn was neglected for years by the pervious owners so my soil is fairly compacted. My plan is to get core aeration in the fall and overseed then. I would try and seed earlier but I will probably stick with the 2 in 1 with the pre-emergent in it in order to try and kill off as many weeds as I can before they start. I also plan on another application of tenacity so I can kill off as many of the weeds as possible.

      I like to the the kelp about a month into spring to help the plants along, then when daytime temps are over 85 or super hot I will apply it monthly. Even if you apply less you still get benefits so some is actually still much better than none. For humic acid, if using the concentrated granular I showed here once a year in spring is fine, or if you have very poor soil which is what I had before I will do 2-3 times a year for the first year and then once a year after. Hope this helps

    Good Day, thank you soooooo much for sharing your wealth of knowledge. We moved into our home last April, and the lawn provided by the builder was terrible, not to mention the soil (actually Southern MD clay and debris). Not having a clue about the process resulted in a very high level of frustration, blood pressure, and an accompanying water bill. Then I stumbled across your videos, which are very comprehensive and informative. I had a company do the plugs and I over seeded with Black Beauty. Then I waited, and waited.......with the anticipation of a soon to be new parent I was excited to see the transformation unfold. Now I have GRASS EVERYWHERE!!!, thank you again. I am especially excited to step aside and let God water the lawn for me.....Question; will you be willing to share here collectively or in a future video, the frequency of all the applications over the course of a year? Also, is there a specific granular fertilizer brand that you used in this video? Again, I am so grateful for the shared knowledge that i have become an unofficial Silver Cymbal ambassador telling as many as I can when I can to check out your site and subscribe. Many blessings to you and your family, and please continue to stay safe.
    James

      I use pre-emergents but not to the degree some do. I try to use them in Spring but the Tenacity as a follow up is key. After your first years the weed population becomes much less too/ So life gets easier each year too.

    First of all live your channy. I've learned so much over the past year. I followed your Tenacity + aerator treatment plan and my grass looks a lot better this year, however it still has weeds throughout, but a lot less then before. Should I still apply sea kelp and humic acid or wait until next year when I've controlled the weeds a little more?

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  4 года назад

      Thats good to here and its working for sure. I would definitely treat the weeds first and this will result in fewer next year too, and gets better each time. Give the weed control 3 weeks total to do its thing and then go to the Kelp and humic acid.

      Thank you very much You can defintiely do the sea kelp and humic acid within a short time like you asked. For Tenacity I would not apply Sea Kelp within 2 weeks just to make sure you get the maximum benefit of each. Thanks for the kind words too!

    Outstanding video! Yes, the Humic DG is a great product! Will look at that Kelp. Thanks!! Also, Tenacity is only for cool season grasses. It could really harm active growing bermuda. :)

    What order should I do these procedures in? I want to mow, remove weeds, and thatch (using the GreenWorks machine that you recommended). I feel like there is a good or most appropriate way to do these steps if I want to fix my lawn and backyard. Also for my backyard, I may want to level it (add soil to the ends of each side since they slope down), where would I put this levelling step too? Thanks.

    I have been following you on your renovation projects. I live in Virginia Beach I managed to control my soil PH, I sprayed tenacity twice last fall and over seeded turf type long fescue made by the rebels and put some starter fertilizer. I can see the results sadly a big rain fall came right after the oversseding and I now have some bald spots. I did put down some preemergent Anderson’s barricade product and I sprayed some tenacity for the weeds that made it through. I can tell there is weeds enough for me to spray the whole yard as opposed to spot treat. I placed barricade a week a go, is it a bad idea to overseed this spring?
    I want to use the humid acid from Anderson’s and some fertilizer. My hesitation is that I’m going to be doing all this to help my weeds grow stronger. If I could grade my lawn I would say I have a solid 70 out of 100. But what you said in your video at the end has me hesitating. I don’t know if my lawn is decent enough to go do the humic and fertilizer. Please share your opinion so I go head and buy these two for my lawn. Anderson has humic acid but they also have fertilizer with humic acid. Do you recommend getting them together or separate? The Andersons PGF Complete 16-4-8 Fertilizer with Humic DG is what I had in mind unless you think doing the process separate is best.

      Not at all. You can overseed in Spring. I just released a video on it that may help: ruclips.net/video/nAVDDePLoNU/видео.html

    Thanks for another very informative video! I started using Andersons products last year and was very pleased with the results. I also am in MA (Marion) and it appears that as nice as my lawn was last year it appears that I have an infestation of crabgrass, raking brings up big clumps with shallow roots. I am thinking of killing the entire lawn and then roll, level with topsoil, aerate, and reseed with a quality seed. I bought Andersons starter fertilizer that has Tenacity in the mix so I am hoping this will help with the weeds and get me filled in enough before summer. My question is do you think this approach is reasonable and second, do you have a good source for the Andersons spreader that you use? I have only found two vendors that sell with the side deflector, Amazon only has it without and then you have to order the deflector from Earthway. Sorry for the long message., I have learned a lot watching your videos!

      Correction, the invasive species is POA not crabgrass, i treated the lawn for this last fall to prevent, apparently i did something wrong.
