    Recently used Jacks Magic - Peat Free to top dress my lawn after re-seeding and the lawn is looking great, however, out of every bag I got about the same amount of debris left that you had after 7 bags...the debris was like fibrous fluff so had to empty every time before putting in a fresh bagful. Saved it to use as mulch around my tom plants!

    Theres serious work trying to keep grass growing in Belfast. The moss is crazy. This is sound advice. I used the growsure bags on a reseed a few weeks ago. Results were poor and there was a lot of debris and stones in the mix. It could be due to the cold and wet April we had, it could be that the lawn seed i bough wasnt suitable or dead.

    Here goes. Purchase our house couple years ago and it's probably around 10+ years old. Previous owner didn't do anything to the lawn by the looks of it. We paid for a treatment every quarter but doesn't look like it did much help. Decided after watching a lot of your videos over the last 1.5 years to give it a go and do it myself.
    5 hours later, lawn mowed, scarified, aerated (manually!), top soil applied and grass seed applied im hoping we end up with cracking results. Oh and I used liquid seaweed cause why not! Thank you for all your videos mate! Fully enjoy watching them!
    Not sure if I picked the best day... 24 degree pure sun in nottingham!

    Been working on a lawn today. I’ve done the scarification and aeration. I decided to apply the 30/70 top dressing before the seed in this garden, because the lawns are really rough and uneven, so I was applying quite heavily in some spots. I’m seeding and fertilising tomorrow. Hopefully that wasn’t a bad idea….!?

      If you're talking about blueDEF, diesel exhaust fluid then yes it's fine for lawns. It doesn't contain any iron only Nitrogen. If you're putting it on a newly seeded lawn I would use half the recommended rate if you don't have much prior experience doing foliar applications of Urea.

    How long do you have to wait before mowing next to prevent the existing lawn getting too long but not damaging the seeds that have just germinated?

    • @LegendaryLawnCare89
      @LegendaryLawnCare89 6 дней назад

      The germination time for seeds varies depending on the type of seed, usually taking 3-5 weeks. Professionals typically scalp the existing lawn before overseeding to keep the old grass short and prevent it from competing with the germination process.

      @LegendaryLawnCare89 6 дней назад

      @@roberthamilton2334If you're using iron to kill moss, use 3-5 grams per liter and apply it with a backpack sprayer. To avoid burning, don't mow your lawn 2 days before or after the application. If you follow these rates, you don't have to worry about watering it in. For best results, apply early in the morning as plants absorb more nutrients at this time. Spray the iron about a week before overseeding so you can use a stronger rate of iron and eliminate the moss without harming your expensive grass seed. Use a dethatcher or rake to remove all the dead material, then overseed. If you want to increase your germination rates apply a seed starter fertilizer like Omex TNT Starter, also wetting agent applications are very handy on newly seeded lawns, increases water retention and nutrient uptake.

    What's the absolute best grass seed for the perfect lawn here in Ireland? I've been looking at Barenbrug Extreme and Johnsons Premier Pitch, any expert recommendations?

    • @Premier_lawns_official
      @Premier_lawns_official  18 дней назад +1

      It depsnds on what you want, 100 percent rye is great for summer and stripes. In the winter the rye dies back and the lawn won't look great. I would never recommend it to a client, I much prefer a seed with dwarf rye and fescue together. That's going to give you a nice lawn all year round

    • @LegendaryLawnCare89
      @LegendaryLawnCare89 6 дней назад

      Use an elite Perennial Ryegrass like Obsidian or Blackout Perennial Ryegrass that has Fireball and Hatrick cultivars. Barenbrug PGR is decent as well.

      I’ve actually been told by a greens keeper it can (as long as not done to often) be a good thing to toughen it up, just make sure to keep the nutrition up and make sure it’s growing strongly before hand, from what he said much of the info has been passed down from far older studies carried out on strains quite different to what we have on the market and the 1 third rule is largely to deter people from cutting really short once or twice a month and wondering why it’s struggling.
