Alchemist's music is full of things music people would call "golden tones." Golden Tones are slight switches or sounds that scrape against the common thread of the music or beat. He also uses a lot of chord progression and plays with effects in time; 4/4 time, 3/4 time, etc... It make you feel like the sounds are floating in the background instead of hitting you in the face like a bass drum or snare; which are typically used heavily in most music. This album holds a special place in my heart. Not the best album of all time, but definitely my favorite album of all time just bc the impact it had on me. Since he passed, to this day I cant listen to a Mac album without fighting tears. I heard of Mac before KIDS even dropped, my cousin whom I was close with died and I looked up songs about losing a cousin. "What up Cousin" off his mixtape "The Jukebox: Prelude to class clown" happened to come up and I listened to it. I was hooked instantly. I’m not sure if people will appreciate this comment as much as I did but I level with this so much. I feel like memorizing cadences and all the information made me forget a lot of songs that I could recite from memory. I had the star room and a few of my other favorite songs from him I kept with me and they helped get me through basic. Much love
Never understood how anyone thinks this is his best project. I definitely rank Good AM above it. What I love about this album is that the best songs on here are some of Macs best songs period, but the entirety of the album as a body of work isnt amazing. I am Who I am, Red Dot Music, Objects in the Mirror, Youforia and Aquarium definitely are are some of his best pieces.
fun fact: at 8:38 when Mac says "burn one" its looped in a way that makes it sound like he's also saying "marijuana" so its a double entendre. Such a clever part of the album.
Jon you need to react to Control System by Ab-Soul. There’s a song in particular on there called the Book of Soul that I think will blow your mind. Thanks for posting this, means a lot. Long live Malcolm
Haven’t read through the comments to see if someone has mentioned it, but you have to listen to this album synced up with the movie Mac played at the release party/listening and talked about interviews. It’s about a sea turtle - Reddit or google it and it is an easy find on RUclips(along with when to start the sync). It is incredible.

Celeb deaths do nothing for me. This absolutely broke my world though. Mac was a god to me, to this day I can't help but tear up even just thinking about how much life he had left to live and what he could have done.
Rest in Peace Malcom, we love you❤
I have never enjoyed watching you break down lyrics like I have in this video. Please keep doing more Mac!!
REMember and someone like you are two of my all time favorites
I listened to this album when it released for every day for 2 years, used to recite the lyrics in boot camp to take my mind off of shit.
I’m not sure if people will appreciate this comment as much as I did but I level with this so much. I feel like memorizing cadences and all the information made me forget a lot of songs that I could recite from memory. I had the star room and a few of my other favorite songs from him I kept with me and they helped get me through basic. Much love
@@JT2009bfrd much love
Scrolling through me feed and saw this: Yep time to cry.
Macadelic Jon! Great pice of work one of my favorites my Mac. Great reaction!
I agree, I think this album felt more catchy though, reddot music is my favorite song of his
One of my favourites 💕 thank you!
Fuck yea more mac miller let's gooooooo jon
Been waiting for this one!!
fun fact: at 8:38 when Mac says "burn one" its looped in a way that makes it sound like he's also saying "marijuana" so its a double entendre. Such a clever part of the album.
Jon you need to react to Control System by Ab-Soul. There’s a song in particular on there called the Book of Soul that I think will blow your mind. Thanks for posting this, means a lot. Long live Malcolm
This album is one of my favorites had it on repeat for months! When it dropped a month after I got out the trauma center. #Longlivemacmiller
luv this guy actually listens to the music keep up the work
The fact that I have listened to all your Mac reviews in a row and didn't even realize it has been hours... that most dope.
Suplexes inside of complexes and duplexes samples strawberry fields forever. It blows my mind that he got that sample cleared
"Price of Tea in China" - Boldy James album produced by Alchemist! Please react. 🙏🙏
Can't wait til the Ab Soul - Control System reaction. COME ON PATREONS!!
Nice I just listen to the album today it’s a great album
You know what I want to see now? Delusional Thomas- debatably Mac's darkest work and yet some of the hardest beats and rhymes plus great features
Im so glad you liked I am who am. Definitely my favorite track of the album
Big up Jon, love when you do Mac/Logic reactions! Best artists for me:)
Yesssss i love this album
Awesome reaction Jon
Yesss I've been waiting for this
Never clicked on a notification so fast!!!
LETS GOOOOO!! Been waiting on this one
You should do the Delusional Thomas mixtape. Another pseudonym of Mac’s of course. Crazy dark but awesome artistry.
