Unveiling the Truth About My First Guitar from Harley Benton

  • This is my first Harley Benton, the HB-35 CH plus.
    I was first inspired by Chuck Berry who played a Gibson Es 335.
    and seeing seeing Michael J Fox playing a es335 on the film back to the future, did an iconic guitar playing rendition of johhny b good.
    That inspired me to get one.
    But I couldn't afford the Gibson Es 335 in cherry red, hence I looked at the Harley Benton version of the Iconic Es335, So I took the chance and bought one for £160, and wow, I was so pleased that I did, it was an exceptional value for money guitar for anyone on a tight budget 😀

    Good and honest review. Thank you Lemi. I have had my mind on buying this "Chuck Berry" guitar for the past 3 weeks and then all of a sudden the
    video guitar-reviews on RUclips ALL started to show this guitar! LOL
    I better buy one now before Thomann runs out of stock !
    By the way, I just bought the Harley-Benton SC-450Plus LD Vintage Series (Lemon Drop Burst) and it is phenomenal ! Sounds great and looks
    even better in real life than in website pictures. I highly recommend it.

    Hi Lemuel, thanks for the great guitar demo! I'd be interested in the pedals you use - it's pretty difficult to choose these days, there are so many of them! I prefer the slight overdrive rather than 'pure noise'! Cheers!

    This is so funny because I was just looking into buying the holy grail of jazz guitars the Gibson l5 and then I saw you playing this hollow body. It’s sign that I should get one. I just need $10,000.00 lmao. This guitar sounds great from where I’m sitting.

    my (very rich) mate's got an early 60s 335 that we compared with a HB copy with replaced nut and tuners that cost, with the upgrades, about 200 quid - the difference was comically small - both played and sounded great (but not comfortable for my undersized frame)

      Hi, my friend Thom
      Lol, don't fall into that trap 🤣 unless you have reasons to buy because you have a unique talent, and you have found your own voice on that beautiful strat.
      Unless like myself, you want to showcase guitars that might appeal to musicians looking for alternatives.
      Have a great weekend, buddy

    Just for your information the Fender Blues jr is a 15 Watts amp, not 30watts the Guitar sounds great but it's all in the fingers and you sound amazing.

    • @lem432
      @lem432  3 месяца назад +1

      Oh dear 😳 my mistake, yes I know its a 15watt, I got confused because I mainly use my peavey classic 30, which is a 30 watt valve amp. Cheers for pointing out my blunder.

    That's a pretty semi hollow....I couldn't afford a proper Gibson either so I bought the Inspired by Gibson Epipiphone 335 with the 50s thick neck...I love it but swapped the output jack...I like that yours is on the bottom side instead of the top like mine. I put flatwounds on mine and a bone nut. I also like that yours has the switch in the Les Paul position on the body...congrats on the new guitar!

    The audio on this one was quite low level Lem, I had to use an audio booster on my laptop to hear you well.
    I was quite interested in this model when it came out but never got around to buying it, I see now that they have an improved model also, I might pull the trigger on one!

    • @lem432

      Sorry about that, Andrew. Are you sure 🤔 because I checked, and the levels are okay, my end, plus no one else has mentioned it to me from the comments, but having said that, I brought 2 mics, I will try them out on my next videos, please let me know if the levels improve 😀
      Thanks for your feedback 👍

    The HB looks nice, but I think there are better options out there from other manufacturers. Also, in Back To The Future, the guitar Marty played in 1955 was actually a 1958 Gibson ES345. This is quite a well-known blooper, but of course it doesn't really detract from the story. I used to own an Ibanez AS73, which was excellent, but rather heavy. Then an Epiphone ES339, which was great, but rarely got used so I sold it.

    • @lem432
      @lem432  3 месяца назад

      You're probably right ✅️ and yes I don't deny there are better alternatives out there 😉, but I base my opinions on guitars I have in my possession..but I always welcome other musicians' feedback. Cheers 🍻
