February 15, 2024 As a 50 year old man, this kinda brings a tear to my eye. Because I squandered so many opportunites. Along with dumb decisions in the name of fun. The saddest part is friends you didn't know you would see for the last time. And places. people, events, and experiences you had. Along with the pure enjoyment of just life in general. As I listen to this song and write this, I'm thinking of the good times and bad. Knowing I will never ever experience those again. Knowing the last time I truly enjoyed life was in the 90s, even tho this timeless song is from the 80s. So as I'm completely tear up, I hope you enjoy the short time we have left.
Fantastic comment, and thank you for sharing your thoughts. It helps bring some good perspective to someone who’s still young. I’m 21 and it already feels as I’ve missed good opportunities, but am blessed to have had an opportunity. God bless

Finnish pop singer Aleksandr "Sammy" Babitzin died in a car accident at the age of 24 and he is my favorite singer and it is sad that he died young in a car accident Sammy Babitzin (July 11, 1948 Helsinki - April 29, 1973 Central Finland Hospital, Jyväskylä)
23 then, 63 now, I wish to be forever young. 40 years gone in the blink of a song. Make it count people. I felt I had to answer some replies, as people seem to misunderstood my meaning. I had friends die 40 years ago, they never had a chance to make it count. I will sign off. Thank you all. Liam
The vocals on this song are absolutely flawless. He doesn't even use vibrato. Just a clear, clean voice reaching higher and higher effortlessly. The whole album is a masterpiece, right up there with Upstairs at Eric's as one of the very best synth pop albums. I was maybe 12 when I first listened to it and it still gives me chills.
I wish i could show my gratitude to this band for this music. i am in a beautiful island and watching sunset every day playing Forever Young. i still don’t know why i get tears every sunset with this masterpiece, probably i don’t know! Show more love and gratitude to everyone around, you never know, you are talking or seeing a person for the very last time.
I'm 39 going on 40. The song put me to tears because of how beautiful it was. Not only did it bring a wave of nostalgia, but got me to realize the inevitability of aging.
Enjoy these years and don't regret it. Whatever it is.. go for it!! Don't live to regret not even trying! I wish I was 22 again. Enjoy life as best you can youngster❤
I cry as I read so many of these posts. We cry I think for personal reasons. If you are on the wrong path your being told to make changes. Life is a journey and not always easy. Take care and make decisions that benefit you and others. Just know you are not alone and we all have the same thoughts . I ask myself why am I crying with you. Because we care
i know how you feel... listening to this at 1:30AM...everytime... tears just flow and flow... to live is to suffer right... to survive is to find meaning as Viktor Frankl says... sending my love and hugs... there is no pain like losing a child... it simply is just unbearable.
@@MilltaryEnjoyer Hummm you don't know about the cuban nukes missiles crisis from the 60 right?Even though, best of musical Era are the 80.And I know every decade has its own great artists.
In 1984 I was 20 and now I'm 60. That song was already beautiful then but means so much more now. It is an absolute anthem to my life and all those of my generation. Thank you.
When I was 18, I saw 40 year olds as ancient and way past it ! In my twenties I thought I would be forever young. But the realities of life hit me by my 30th birthday and I accepted none of us can live forever. Enjoy life whenever you can and whatever your age. Be kind to others and help people whenever possible.
My dad die 7 days ago, this is his favorite song, he died at 55 years, he's always in my heart... I can't continue with my life without him.... But this song was played everyday until he died, Roberto, you're always in my heart, forever, and we never forget you, you're the biggest angel in the sky, heaven can't wait, but god needs you more than me here on the earth. I promise you everything, and one day we become together at paradise. I give you a hug, and i'm going to be with you the rest of the eternity. In heaven....
Consolences. I can remember when my father died at 60. I was 26 and it was tough. It may seem impossible now, but take heart. Others have gone thru this and come out fine on the other end.
And those of us that were already grown up that spent the entire 80's decade in their 20's like I did were very blessed. I turned 20 in 1980 and 30 in 1990, and what a fun decade that was. Grown up with a job, my own money to spend on concerts, going clubbing and buy great designer clothes (although I could do without the shoulder pads). I grew up in the 60 and 70 and graduated high school in 79 but my life didn't really start until I grew up and what a great decade to take on the world. I miss the 80's so much. The 90's was my decade in having babies and raising them and pretty much watched Disney and Barney for 10 years lol.
Dying is easy... watching those you love/that love you die while you live on is a horror that never ends....they are there, still....most forever young... and i still miss them so much...still there in the 80's forever young.
As a 22 year old man who grew up on a mixture of metal and rap I find myself enjoying this type of music too every now and then. It has such an indescribable vibe.
I am 63.... The 80's were a most wonderful time to be alive. I wish I could go back to the 80's and NEVER come back. I am sure you would have enjoyed the 80's also.
Right! I was an adult in the 90s. To me, it was the last time period when everybody got along. Now, nothing makes sense. I don't see things getting better. So if there us reincarnation, I want to be born in the 70s, so I can live this great time period again.
This still brings tears to my eyes, when I hear it again. Some of my high school friends have passed away at the age of 45. I think about all the times,we spent hanging out. When ,you are young you think the t will always be this way.I wish ,I could tell them how much ,I miss and appreciate them.
In Christ we are forever young.. Ps 103 says..HE ✝️🕊️💜 satisfies us with good things and our youth is renewed as an eagle 🦅.. Ps 34:5 when you look to HIM you will be radiant and no shadow of darkness or shame will cover your face.. no.. make Christ the centre of your entire life.. ✝️🕊️💜.. forever young not only in this lifetime but the life ever after.. Amen 🙏
I don’t think it was the goal of any person involved with this that they would make one of the most popular funeral songs of all time but it fits so perfectly for those who died young or young at heart. I know many people that have found a sense of peace listening to this song.
My sister passed away at 25. She will always be forever young. This song makes me cry in her memory. Forever young angel, fly high, follow the light, it’s okay. Rest in peace.
Even though I'm still in my 20s, this song makes me feel old and regret the decisions I've made so far. To all the readers here, please share some positive insights about life that will help me avoid future regrets and live a happy life. 1:00
Try real Christianity. A deep believe in the afterlife and forgiveness of all wrongs. Let it all go. What a great feeling to be at peace. May god bless you and your paths.
This song defines 80s nostalgia. A timeless classic. Just proud that I was one of the millions of teenagers around the world who got to enjoy great music from the 80s during the 80s.
The real reason singers became world wide pop stars and his solo career blow up was because of the freemasonry hand signs he show`d again and again. The 2 popular hand signs M J used often were 666 and devil horns. In most cases the singer shows at least 4 hand signs and these are: 666 devil horns one eye tongue showing aka mocking. The talent may be there, but the hand signs must be there. Thats how a soul becomes a “rich and famous” singer or actor.
Imagine how Amazing it must feel to have written a song that stands the test of time for 40 years. That people walk around to this very day singing to themselves. This song is one of those. I would say 90% of the songs that never get old with us are from the 80s. I truly magical decade in music. One I am blessed to have grown up in.❤🎶🎵
What a very insightful comment and in many respects I'd go along with that sentiment, although I do believe there are many songs that last from many other eras, certainly 80s songs seem to summon up most nostalgia and incredible love ...and from todays young too! Look at how many are switching on Radio stations like Boom, Absolute, Smooth, Greatest Hits etc! And switching OFF Radio 1 and 2!
Hebreus 9:11-28
I was thinking the same thing. I wasn't sure if I was feeling better or worse by listening to it. It gave me a weird nostalgic feeling. I'm really sickened by getting old, but here it is. If you have been wanting to do something, do it before you die. It could be coming for you. Good luck my friends.
My mom used to sing this to me and when she would sing the "you have the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen" she would look at me and sing it with a smile. I just remember her looking at me like i was just the best thing in the world and feeling warm and dipped in love for my mommy. This song came on the radio the other day and i was in the car with my daughter. I told my daughter (4) how my mom would sing it to me and it was my special song and now I'm gonna sing it to her and it will be hers. Then I sang that part to her just like my mom did and it was so sweet, she got all teary and held my hand while I sang the rest of it to her.
Dude that's so sweet , life really is so short and precious, reading that made me tear me 😢❤️ with love man. Creating children is wat life is about, because you never know when your end is near..... ❤️
One of the most beautiful songs of the 80s, and I think the version performed by the late Laura Branigan is also great. The atmosphere it creates is truly unique; it both makes you happy and gives you a deep sense of melancholy. It reminds me that eternal life is impossible and the decision to die young is a painful and heartbreaking choice. It beautifully conveys the bittersweet essence of youth and the fleeting nature of time. I wish we could stay young forever. In the past, people who are no longer with us listened to this song when it first came out, and they thought just like us. But now, they are no longer here. We have these same thoughts, and future generations will think the same. It's wonderful that this song remains here. Because music transcends time, carrying our emotions and thoughts through generations. 'Forever Young' is not just a song, but a symbol of the quest for youth and immortality. This song takes every listener on a journey through time, connecting the past, present, and future. That's why, thank you to Alphaville for creating such a valuable piece.
Make that count. There's a lot to enjoy in watching (even helping) other people enjoy their lives. I was at a uni graduation ceremony with my nephew graduating. All those young boys and girls looking forward to life and looking to me for guidance was totally beautiful.

I lost my brother when I was 29, he was 30, driving home after his funeral a previous version of Forever Young played on the radio, this song has remained in my heart and will live on in my soul. I'm now 71.
"Forever Young" by Alphaville is a timeless and emotionally resonant song that captures the essence of the synth-pop era. With its hopeful and universal message, Marian Gold's evocative vocals, and the captivating synth-pop arrangement, the song continues to inspire and uplift listeners worldwide. Its enduring popularity and cultural significance make it a true classic in the realm of '80s music.
Some of my friends are Forever Young because they died in their 20’s. This so g always makes me think of them and the fun times we shared. I’m 67 now and I’ve had my share of difficult times but I’m always grateful I’m still alive and got to see my child grow up.

Lost my beloved wife a year and a half ago. Just a couple weeks before her 65th birthday. This song really stirred up some great memories. Haven't heard it for about 40 years.
The sad part isn’t growing up, it’s the innocence that we lose through out the years. That’s what I miss the most; the days of innocence and ignorantly enjoying life without a worry. Make the most of your life guys, learn to love, communicate and have meaningful relationships. That’s what it’s all about! I really miss the 80s...wish to have a time machine and return to those beloved days....peace and love to everyone!!
Never a truer word spoken, the 80s are gone but live on in those that lived it, all we need is a flux capacitor and to be travelling at 88mph and we can go back
I love this song very much. I was 19 years old when it was released, and now I am 59 years old and I still enjoy listening to it. The lyrics, melody and singing have a sincere feeling. Alphaville is still my favorite band. Also, when Dr. Hudson and Jay Z sang it again, it was amazing ❤ I’m from Egypt 🇪🇬
My brother played this for me once when we were hanging out. We both enjoyed it. Sadly God called him the next year to be his Angel. He was 35 at the time. He will be forever young ❤

I was a teenager in the 90s but 80s music was constantly on the radios in the little coastal town in Greece, where I grew up. I remember dreaming of leaving that coastal touristy town then, now wishing I was back in time to realise how magical these teenage years in that little town were...
It’s natural I feel to want to be that bit older when young.. who remembers saying, for example, I’m 8, 1/2, not 8 years. Couldn’t wait to get a driver’s licence, be able to drive yourself to a friend/ friends place, have an 18th birthday, go out to a nightclub, drink alcohol, finish secondary school..not necessarily tell your parents exactly where you are..without truly lying.. just minus the minor details..21st birthday..job, career and so on..oh, now, 4 adult children, divorced and a beautiful career as a HEALTHCARE WORKER, now 63 and wish I could be forever young! Or even younger and know what I know now. Thank you so much, Alphaville, for this timeless song! Inspiration at its best..almost like you knew how the world would be in each decade to come after you released this song.. amazing! Thank you. Love, Wendy from Australia x❤
Make a big deal out of every event in your life. All the landmarks, even the small ones. Sear them in your brain because you're very correct...it goes by in a flash. Only yesterday I was teaching my baby son to walk (he's 28 now), and the day before I brought my daughter home from the hospital, a nervous new dad scared to death he'd have an accident and hurt his little angel (she's 31 now). At 54 (I was a idealistic teen when this song came out and I remember it like yesterday, feeling I'd never grow old) I've learned to live and love every event because literally every day could be the very last one. I look at my 3 year old grandson and think, if I could just go back and do it all over again. But the secret to staying forever young...you do want to know the secret don't you?...is the "you" that you leave in people's memories. You will be forever young every time they remember you, and they will talk about how you did this or that, and smile.
I’m 58 years old and it seems like yesterday I was 28. Life is a profound gift that is very short, don’t waste it worrying. Smile and just be happy to be alive. 🙏🙂
This song was released during my second year in the Marines, I'm now 58. Eventually, we realize how precious those youthful days were and must accept aging......😒😒😒
Quite an interesting place considering Cold War History, thinking of Enver Hoxha and his fetish like obsession with little concrete bunkers, i'm planning a visit for next year to see for myself
When my children looked at my old photo book of me & their mother they know why this song makes me so happy. I still look at her as we were at 16, love never ages 💖

Does anyone else remember back in the 80s where we'd all wonder what the future will bring and now we are here everyone would happily go back to the 80s.
this brings a "tear" to my eye, I was 25 in 1980, still lived with my parents, had a hassle free job in the next town, It all seems so far away now doesn,t it? no "mobile phones", no "social media", no problems, everyone knew everyone in your village, no real crime to speak of, i,de come home from work, have my tea, and pop down the local for a game of pool and a pint with my friends without a care in the world! hear "wonderful tunes "like this all night, and everyone was happy! then walk home "safe in the knowledge that even though it was dark, no one would mug me for want of a five pound note! being 68 and retired now has it,s advantages, I know how "magical those days were like so many of us,we definatly saw the best of britain, so different to today! this is why this song brings a tear not of sadness but remembering all those wonderful years of carefreeness and joy, no,one can take those days away from us born in the 50,s I ,like so many of us will stay" forever young" if only in our dreams,XXX
I love it when people from your generation reminisce of the good times. My grandma for example likes to talk about how she went to college in the 60’s, worked 20 hours at a part time job, and made enough money from that for a HOUSE in 1960. Life was so easy back then it’s ludicrous. I’m the same age she was and I go to school, work 50 hours a week on top of that between two jobs to afford one bedroom of a house that I have to share with 3 other people, and forget saving money. You really were lucky to grow up when you did because everything is fucked now.
When I hear 80s songs like this one, I have flashbacks to when I was a small child going places with my mother, listening to the radio in her blue Oldsmobile. I had no bills to pay, no deadlines to meet, no mouths to feed, etc. Many people can't say the same thing, but I had a wonderful childhood. Those memories will never fade.
This song makes me cry like a young child! I’m scared of growing old but I know it’s a blessing to live into old age. My dad died at 33! He was murdered.
I'm 61. I was 20 when this song came out. I always cherished my youth and knew I was living the best times of my life. It all went so fast though. Now I get so nostalgic. Especially having lost so many loved ones: my grandparents, my mom, my youngest sister, my husband, my favorite sister in law, her two sons and my dear friend and former roommate. People need to savor every moment, take chances, don't hold grudges and just live their best lives. It's all gone in the blink of an eye.
I think i have developed a supernatural power of recognising 80's music. I am 30 years old as of now (born 1993) & an ardent fan of 80's. This song was on air at the local supermarket I shopped in Sri Lanka & I instantly "shazam'ed" it. In love with this masterpiece forever ❤
Methinks part of the song's message was about the Cold War and the uncertainty of human life's continuity then, hence...only watching the skies...always hoping for the best but expecting the worst...
When I was in high school, someone a year younger than me passed away in a car accident. I talked to him occasionally and had classes with him. And then he was just gone. I think he was 17? I think about him every now and then. I wonder where he’d be today. Rip Josiah. Too young, too soon.

And he can still sing it today just as good, maybe even better.

My god I miss the 80s and 90s,those of us left that grew up in those amazing years were so blessed with music that is timeless
me too. heard this Song on my first Road Trip from Germany to Italia. Going on Vacation with my best Friend. This where good Years.
This song encapsulates loss and the fear of death in such a beautiful and powerful way.
It also is about not being afraid to love and living in the moment for it, because youth isn't forever.
Dying is easy... watching those you love/that love you die while you live on is a horror that never ends....they are there, still....most forever young... and i still miss them so much...still there in the 80's forever young.
Look at music video. There all going towards the light in the end. Thar is the light everyone sees at death.
Never fear death otherwise you’re running your whole life

One of the great songs of all times!
The real reason singers became world wide pop stars and his solo career blow up was because of the freemasonry hand signs he show`d again and again. The 2 popular hand signs M J used often were 666 and devil horns.
In most cases the singer shows at least 4 hand signs and these are:
666
devil horns
one eye
tongue showing aka mocking.
The talent may be there, but the hand signs must be there. Thats how a soul becomes a “rich and famous” singer or actor.

Porque, onde há testamento, é necessário que intervenha a morte do testador;
Pelo que nem a primeira aliança foi sancionada sem sangue;
Hebreus 9:11-28

When I listen to this song I tear up, I’m only 33 but it makes me realise how fast my life will pass and how much I don’t want it to
Make a big deal out of every event in your life.

The problem is that not everyone thinks like you do! I totally agree with you!

After listening this song
Does anyone else remember back in the 80s where we'd all wonder what the future will bring and now we are here everyone would happily go back to the 80s.
I would go back. Great memories.
Good lord we used to think it was bad to grow up under the mushroom clowd but compared to now i would easily live it again.
yes indeed. would do.
I remember thinking about this in the 50's.
Well... Umh... For some people, it wasn't a great time...
this brings a "tear" to my eye, I was 25 in 1980, still lived with my parents, had a hassle free job in the next town, It all seems so far away now doesn,t it? no "mobile phones", no "social media", no problems, everyone knew everyone in your village, no real crime to speak of, i,de come home from work, have my tea, and pop down the local for a game of pool and a pint with my friends without a care in the world! hear "wonderful tunes "like this all night, and everyone was happy!
then walk home "safe in the knowledge that even though it was dark, no one would mug me for want of a five pound note!
being 68 and retired now has it,s advantages, I know how "magical those days were like so many of us,we definatly saw the best of britain,
so different to today! this is why this song brings a tear not of sadness but remembering all those wonderful years of carefreeness and joy,
no,one can take those days away from us born in the 50,s I ,like so many of us will stay" forever young" if only in our dreams,XXX
xXx
xXx
I was also born in the 50s!!💯% agree xxx...
Very true, we only have our dreams. Really hate seeing what has become of Britannia. Hope you enjoy your retirement and enjoy them in peace.
Those memories will never fade.
yes, the Oldsmoblies .. We had a green one :D
I think about things like this all the time. 😔😔
How old are you ?

This song makes me cry like a young child! I’m scared of growing old but I know it’s a blessing to live into old age. My dad died at 33! He was murdered.
God bless you, im so sorry to hear about your dad, carry your love for him always

Yes I want to be Forever Young...miss the 80's Best years
The good old days 💯
Me too..
@Erik Cobra Kai never Dies Most people who enjoyed the 80's were born in the 60's and 70's
Those carefree ways and days
the 80's were great if u were straight white and a man

Find every obscure 80's song you can. It's worth it.
I mean… the keytar is always a dead giveaway. 😂
