The memories… I’m sad to age, yet so grateful that I was young when I was meant to be. Today, these younger people could be best friends with AI. Video games of killing and everyone too engrossed at looking at their cellphones than having real conversations. I am old enough to remember the iron curtain and the cold war. I cant even begin to tell how much this song means to me.
I was 20 years old the night the Berlin Wall came down. I stayed up for hours watching it happen on live TV. Having grown up during the Cold War, it was nothing any of us thought could ever happen. But it did. This song captures the feeling of the time perfectly. Relations with the Soviet Union were improving, and the looming threat of nuclear Armageddon seemed to be fading into history. Fast forward to today.. how did things go so far backwards? It seems to me like many have forgotten those dark awful days of the past. Perhaps they need to listen to this song. Perhaps the whole world needs to again

My father used to always whistle a beautiful tune when I was growing up, and it has since stuck with me, especially after his passing. Always thought it was just some random tune, so imagine my shock and surprise when I heard that very same whistle tune come blaring out of the blue from a nearby radio the other day!
What an incredibly beautiful song, it'll remind me of a heartfelt memory every time I hear it. Very grateful to be able to learn some more of what my father was like through his music taste!
