- This is the first part of our best days mudlarking EVER! This is no exaggeration, honestly our minds were blown by the things we found, so we have decided to split the days filming into three to do justice to the incredible things we found!!!! We will put them up alternately with other films between. In this film Kate found so much amazing history and rare gems including items both 300 years old and potentially 400 years old! Come with us for the start of the best mudlarking day ever :)
If you would like to watch us use some of the items we found in miniature crafting, pop over to our second channel `The Miniature World Of Kit + Caboodlers` -

#MUDLARKING
Being chronically ill and my body not able to do these things(even though I REALLY want to), I get to live vicariously through you ladies with your videos. Thank you for taking me on another adventure from my bed 💙 you have no idea how much I appreciate it and the other mudlarkers too. It's like a non stop adventure when I'm in pain it really helps take my mind off things.
Wishing you all the best, please look after yourself.
Me too!
@@kenzieconnolly777 I hope you remember to build your ladder (if you don't know what that is go watch Simon and Martina's build a ladder video it helped me so much) focus on what you got accomplished and even if you only went from your bed to the bathroom to the kitchen and back today, you did that and that's awesome! Keep your chin up darling, we are making the best of a bum body lottery but we are still here.*gentle hugs*
I'm the same, Michi Melody. It's great being able to still get 'out and about' through others isn't it? 🥰
You have explained exactly how I feel. Thank you❤. Fibromyalgia is very debilitating, and these Lovely Ladies allow me to travel on amazing adventures. I can’t really put into words the welcome freedom their joyful discoverings bring me.
My love to the many who are in the same position. Pain will not keep us locked inside our mind when beautiful people make videos like this.
Thank you Fleur and Kate ❤
You live in a world, such a world, ages old, and,I live in the new world.
I happily envy this old world, where you discover things that I can only dream about.
All of you, over there across an ocean, your waters, they give such lovely gifts!❤️
This channel really makes me feel at home even though i've never met you two. Thank you both ❤️
Right!
So true
Anche a me❤️
Defo!
I'm almost positive the tear-shaped glass is a Prince Rupert's drop! 😉🥰
I just looked that up. Wow!! It’s a miracle that fragile “tail “ was never snapped off or the bulbous end would have exploded into dust!!!!
Maybe you could fashion a rocking horse for the dolls nursery using the horse head?
Thank you to my two ♥️ favorite mudlarking ladies
Ad an American in the midwest USA I find your voices wonderful and even a bit intoxicating! Keep making these wonderful videos. Funny to think before I discovered you I didn't even know about mudlarking.
Much love to you ❤️ 💛 💙
Oh what lovely finds. I'm sure you must be so excited. I'm excited for you. Lovely finds for lovely ladies !! !! !!
Australian Federation Medal
Your little bowl would be a cute fishbowl!
The glass pot would make a nice goldfish bowl.
The beads, this is a language that I speak.
Purchased,not found,unfortunately.
But I have thousands, and they speak to me,telling stories of trade and desire, and the seeking of a beautiful bauble,in exchange for another thing, equally beautiful.
This is the language of beadfolk.
You speak it,too.
The little glass bowl looks like a miniature fish bowl.
Maybe you could make a toy rocking horse for the dolls house. The nursery also needs full doll size rocking horse with a dump doll astride.
Who else loves gobbies? ❤️🇨🇦❤️
Thank you soooooo much for not using clickbait thumbnails! Too many channels do that and it instantly makes me not watch the video lol
That crab is stalking you 😮
Hi All let’s see if we can get the number of subscribers up to 25,000. The ladies deserve more subscribers and viewers for their very entertaining and interesting channel. I certainly learn heaps each week.
Totally agree
14:46 for those beads, you could carry a needle and thread with you, so you won't loose them
Well that's a great idea, never would have thought of that, I was thinking scotch tape.
Or a safety pin maybe
@@jennisharp4761, Even better idea !!
@@jennisharp4761 that also possible 👍 but if you find too many beads... 🙈
I believe it's real! WOOHOO!
The little green glass ball could be used for a green apple in the doll hous
The way you said "the tides coming in" was so ominous...saddest words spoken by a mudlark I guess 🙁 looks like you had a good day anyway ☺
That "thing" that looks like part of a bobbin, it also looks like a tip of a parasol (those tips the umbrellas and parasol have all around)
I’ve never clicked on a new video notification so quickly!!❤❤❤❤❤
Same 😊
Me too!
Regarding that coin with the square hole, they used to make sewing baskets and hang a couple of those coins and a tassel on them .
Maybe ask Richard Hemery about reporting your find? It’s incredible…all the meaning behind it and the occasion for which it was presented…who owned it…mind blowing
Thank you.
WOW!!, WOW!!, WOW!!!! What a day, you two had and it's only just begun for us watchers!! So many terrific finds!! I was waiting patiently for you to mention the buckle you found, Kate....but alas, you didn't mention it. Is it from a shoe??...a belt?? I wonder who wore it and where they were going? The history of each item you bring alive, takes us back to a time, multitudes have forgotten, or dismissed. Thank you for waking up that part of history for so many. I appreciate you taking us along on your fabulous journey! I know how difficult it is to video, edit and script it, then put it all together. The hours you dedicate to teaching us about so many different and epic times of the world. Thank you again. xx ❤
PS. Fleur, your hands are so beautiful, do you have a special cream you use? Thanks!
Smoochies and hugs to Mr. Sunny Cat.... and a big "Hello" to Oscar!
Wow, those finds were unbelievable and to have such a history to. That coin really did bring you both luck, and to find a complete lead soldier with the red paint showing. If this is the start, I can't imagine what else you found.
Thank you and enjoy your week
Fantastic treassures. 🌻🐕🥰🇺🇸
The green glass blob would be a beautiful perfume bottle for the dolls house. ❤
Your lucky coin certainly lived up to its name! For the gold piece, I would shoot off an email and see what comes of it, at least then you are covering your bases. Have a good week!
As soon as you put up the picture of your ancestor, there was no doubt she was yours Fleur! You have a striking resemblemce to her. Ladies, this was one amazing hunt, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the finds! Wow! Have a wonderful week Kate and Fleur!
Yea! The pleasure of commonplace finds is entirely understandable, but it's nice to hit the proverbial jackpot occasionally.
And thank you for teaching us about Butlins - new to this American. Exactly the kind of thing that every Brit probably takes for granted, but extremely few Americans would know about. While both think they know all about each other from watching television.
Wow the sea gods are smiling on you two lovelies hugs
Gary Drayton from Oak Island on the History channel started out Mudlarking beaches, now he's a millionaire.
Thankyou for cheering me up ❤ I’m poorly in bed this week but your video has really made me smile xxx
Please look after yourself, all the best
I LOVE the detail in that dress your Great Great Grandmother is wearing! So clever how they used to make lace back then. Fabulous finds as always my lovelies, thank you xx Teresa 🇦🇺❤
Yes, better to be safe -- contact your FLO! What a great first installment of this mudlarking adventure.
Please, what is the FLO?
@@amyjensen7917 Finds Liaison Officer from the Museum.
Agree! Better to be safe and sure than have something happen later that puts you in trouble!
wow, GOLD. ... A medal and so beautiful. love you two, love your videos, so interesting and so much to learn. xx
I think that the 'lace bobbin' could also be a tip on an umbrella edge.
THAT’S IT!!!! I KNEW I recognized that shape before! So it’s not a bobbin bit. Oh well. Think of the historical family research we would have missed out on had Kate not fallen down the wrong rabbit hole!
There are NO MISTAKES. Only experience.
Great finds thank you 🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖💖
Omg! I would definitely take the gold/silver coin and the Chinese coin to the FLO and find out for sure what they are. If you do, please give us an update, how exciting! Love the family history, great video Ladies 😃💗 x
I always say what fabulous finds you find. But you two really out did yourselves with this trip that for sure. I mean come on a over 400 year old coin, an over 300 year old medal of silver and gold, a cap badge with all the enamel still on , the tiny miniature clock face I mean I can’t even wrap my head around just these finds and you say there’s a lot more to come. It’s a good thing your splitting it all up or I might not be able to take it all in. Lol congratulations on sure a wonderful day for the two of you!
Wow! A great day and unique treasures! Congrats to you Kate, on that spectacular metal! The small, plump jar you found Fleur, would be the perfect candidate to copper foil and use as a kitchen pot in one of the doll houses, eh? Kate, when you picked up that bead at twenty one: fifty three on the timeclock, I was surprised and sad that you missed that perfect rectangle-shaped piece of yellow glass, knowing it is one of your favorite colors, but spotting that sweet lace bobbin and family story made up for it. Perhaps you two could use your broken beads to make mosaics for the doll houses, such as a flowerpot or plate for the wall, decorate a dresser, headboard or anything really. Mosaics have been used for eons, so could be used for any era, and they're fun. Loved the lead (mini clock, perfect to make a mold of and mosaic around it?) The horse heads will be very handy and of course, Fleur's standing soldier, completely complete, as you said, even original paint remained. ( :
My great grandmother was born in 1901 and yours was beautiful
My Daddy was born in 1910, haha.
@@juneyshu6197 So was mine! And my mom in 1916. I’m 64, and when I was growing up, people thought they were my grandparents.
That clear container would look great with a clear glass lid
Good evening ladies. Hope you are enjoying the beautiful Fall season.
Thanks for another great video. Just a possibility, but the Australian and Kiwi soldiers who served at Gallipoli had an A for ANZAC on their uniform, when serving in the next theatre of the WWI. Love the lace tatting stuff.
You should make a collage of all the broken doll faces you've found and picture frame it. Now that would be cool.🥰
amazing how little broken bits tell such big stories from our past thanx for sharing.
I REALLY LIKE THE WAY YOU EACH SHOWS YOUR FINDS AS YOU FIND THEM AND TELL US WHAT IT IS THEN WHEN YOU GET IT CLEANED WE CAN SEE SO MUCH BETTER WHAT IT IS.I LOVE THE WAY YOU TWO DO YOUR VIDEOS IT MAKES US FEEL SO MUCH CLOSER TO YOU TWO, AND I LOVE YOUR ACCENTS.
Wow what lovely finds.
I got so excited when this popped
I have been going backwards and watching all your videos
Just love them
Same with Northern Mudlarks (watching their videos is how I discovered yours)
Same!! 😊
Me 2.
Your tiny horse head would make a fun stick horse for your miniature doll house.
Thank you Ladies for sharing your wonderful finds! I enjoy your channel so much.
Really nice medal. Great find. Love the name lead army too 👍
Oooh so many beautiful little things! That first horses head that fleur found is screaming to be made into a minature hobby horse 🐎! Amazing video again ladies, thank you xxx
Great Idea!!!
i think it should be reported, a triumphant find! Most old treasures are probably broken in some ways. This was a lovely day of unique finds, thank you for sharing.
Amazing. Every time I watch you two finding all those great things, I want to go too.
Wow, what special finds! That soldier and that shield would be perfect for the study. I will have a difficult time waiting for the next episode!
What gorgeous finds! It is fun to hear about your research, too. Bless you both for providing us with this rich content!
Fabulous family story xx
I make Bedfordshire lace with bobbins like your beautiful collection
Fantastic! 💖🇺🇸😁
lovely adventure, thanks!
i am sorry but i do not think that thing is the bottom of a lace bobbin….I used to make lace with beaded bobbins …but i think it is a thing that would go on the end of an umbrella spoke to protect the end and the hole would be used to tie in the fabric to the end
Some good things y'all found love watching you
Glorious treasures! What an amazing day of mud larking. I think about how you find those treasures and save them for how many more hundreds of years? It is so much better to have the actual piece than just a picture of it. People used to throw them away when they had no more use for them. What are we throwing away that people a hundred years from now are going to be thrilled to find? Maybe the hoarders have the right idea. Hah!
Nice finds! I'd be metal detecting that spot for sure.
You're my favorite mudlarkers. Love your videos and definitely love the dolls houses.
Couldn't agree more
Great day out, wow. I think you both have x-ray eyes. Well done on all the exciting finds, its difficult to chooses a favourite - and there is more to come!!! Looking forward to your future videos, have a great weekxx
What terrific finds!!! Love the family history connection to the lace bobbin.Great way of making history more real and accessible. 🥰🥰🥰
OOOooooo can't wait for the next video in this three. What interesting things you came home with. The half medal is wonderful and just think how old it is. You are both very clever girls to find such wonderful things. Stay safe and keep crafting.💗
You will find Chinese coins with Peking glass beads decorating Victorian round sewing boxes. They usually are not super rare, but maybe you have a treasure.
As to the half coin, I think it is always better to be safe than sorry. Oh this was very interesting. Looking forward to next installments.
My local museum has had half artifacts in it before! :) They were pre-Columbian gold, but still.
Such great finds! How exciting and rich with History. The complete lead toy, coins and gold medal! 🥳. Thanks for sharing your adventure. 🌹
Continuing to be fabulous! Can't wait for the further adventures. XOXO
Such wonderful finds and such a great History! amazing how things can last so long ! I also noticed a lot of common opal all about , the glass amber stones well there are many colors of Common opal I see there and chert! Awesome area to hunt!
Exxxxxxciting to the upcoming videos!!! Eeeeeks, I can't wait!!
Love the larks when we see all the bits on the ground.
What a magnificent bunch of finds! I am intrigued and can hardly wait to see what’s coming next from this remarkable day of discovery. Thank you for taking us all with you!
I think it would be so neat for you to repaint some of those lead figures especially the horse that you just found
Congrats
Blessings, Ladies. You do have the most marvelous camera work.
That medal definitely classes as treasure - well done! The FLOs never mind if you contact them to check things if you aren’t sure - just drop an email over with clear photos. A great selection of finds.
Wow! Very exciting finds! Amazing 👏 I'm so happy for you ❤️
Lovely video, thank you.
Wow! What an amazing finds day!
AWESOME finds! I wonder if Mrs. Fleur's tiny glass pot could become a fishbowl for one of the dollhouses since it's clear? I'm not certain of the "invention date" of the household fishbowl . . . 🤔 Happy larking to you this week! 😊❤️
Great idea for a fishbowl!! Now to find a miniature fish!
Another amazing video ladies loved it
Hi, Just to cover yourselves, why not just e-mail a pic of your broken find to your local flo ? Their reply may give more guidance on similar finds in the future. All the best.
Wow so many treasures. I also like the whole tin soldier and the little clock. Look forward to see more from your fab day.
Put a stick on the lead horse head and make the lead solder a hobby horse!
I need to thank you, so very much, for your incredible videos. Each time I view them, I am amazed at their beauty and the opportunities to learn something new. I find them relaxing and exciting at the same time. When the video reaches its end, I feel as if I have been on a little vacation. You bring joy and inspiration to my life. Thank you!
