I am love potatoes don't like this I've made them for years and years and years I'm by far this was the easiest and the best potatoes I've ever had done like this and I am not kidding you I am make these quite a lot and this was the best recipe so far if you guys have not tried this yet I'mliterally telling you to go try it because wow incredible
I made this today it turned out so good i haven't had them since i was in my teens my mom made them she stopped making them but it was delicious thank you ❤️
Two things: 1) Cooked in the sauce? Yummmm... 2) Potato chips? I've done that for many years and its sooo good! This is how you use the last of the chips that are so small nobody wants them. Crushed French fried onions, seasoned croutons, corn tortilla crumbs, and the Chinese noodles for soup all work well, depending on the dish.
I have never tried scalloped potatoes. It looks good. I usually make au gratin potatoes with the same yellow potatoes layered in a baking dish with salt pepper and heavy cream on each layer. Bake at 350 for one hour. It comes out bubbly and brown. It is delicious. Grated cheese could also be added to each layer of potatoes but I find this dish delicious without any cheese.
I have never been able to successfully make scalloped potatoes from scratch, it always takes at least twice as long to bake as the recipe says and the "sauce" (milk mixture) usually stays watery. I'm going to try this method instead!
So sorry… but it’s really gratin(potato) dauphinoise. “Au gratin” is describing the casserole topped with bread crumbs or cheese. Gratin is literally translated to “grated”. ❤
15-20 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is melted and golden. After 15 minutes, I like to increase the temperature to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for an additional 5-8 minutes, so the cheese gets more color. Yellow potatoes are always the best
Red work very well also. Blanch them at least 24 hours in advance. Or you can mix both
This make so much damn sense.. Boiling in the bashamel sauce then plating!! So doing this tomorrow
