at 2:00 you can see Sabine Schmitz is still determined to beat Clarckson's time of 9:59 in a van with a screaming Richard Hammond in the passenger seat
His car has about 208 BHP/Metric T. and that Porsche he passed looked like a Carrera s, so it's about 242 BHP/Metric T. Plus it doesn't hurt he's a hell of a driver.
''No matter what you do, who you are or what you like, if you like cars make damn sure that you own or build something that makes you happy and serves exactly the prupose you need it''. damn, this video is completly inspirational, love it.
Outstanding!! my son just purchased a 1975 wagon 5 speed with 92,000. Its going to be his project car. I can't wait to see the final result. Its his first purchase on his own which makes me very proud. We are both car enthusiast and passionate about performance. We currently enjoy driving our Ford GT350 and Honda S2000.
This great because not only is it the ultimate version of built not bought, but it is his car, he did what he wants not what others want. And good on him. Well done man
Love the car and what you have done to it and OMG it is fast and it was so cool to see you passing other cars like it was nothing... Great job on the build...
I have an automatic 2002 NB and I'm dying to convert it to a manual. Watching this video and learning this used to be an auto really inspires me. Good video!
The car is a credit to the Gentleman builder. Fly like the wind, out of a Honda engine l am surprised. I would of questioned why not a rotary engine or subaru engine? Was the driver waveing as you passed the Porsche on the track.? I be smiling too with this build great work.
+jayjaylen75 you can follow the build on garage amino my username is alexracingbatista1 I'll type it again so you can read it easier alex racing batista 1
I LOVE this car. It shows love, garage engineering, ingenuity, and pure unapologetic passion from it's builder and owner. It's an honest little every-man's car. I strongly disagree with people saying and writing "Built not Bought" is bullshit. Nit picking and claiming that unless ALL parts were produced in house, than it's not a legit built car. Just about ANYBODY can sign a check for a performance car. Those claiming "Money=Work" ignore the fact that some people didn't work for said cash. Some are born into wealth while others(Lottery Winners) just luck into large amounts of cash. Anyone fool with funds can write a check to walk out with a super-car or pro built tourer. This does NOT mean they are car people, for many (NOT ALL) it means "they have lots of money and wish to flaunt it". This car is unique and it stands for something (experiences, trails, patience, busted knuckles, profanity in frustration, research, and doing the best with what little you got) that money cannot outright buy. "Built not Bought" is not a knock on cars themselves, nor does it mean a person is just better than someone else overall. It's a statement to bring light and celebration to the skills honed, sweat pored, books read, sleep lost, and spare time from the daily grind put forth to make a vehicular vision manifest that's largely ignored by Jane/Joe average. That's just my opinion and that's why I respect this man and his ride.
I've got the engine in this car in my CR-X, with a turbo, and it's a fantastic motor. 192hp at the wheels on 8psi. No, it's not vtec, however, I have torque :D
There is just something about being in a Honda that just brings people joy. I have never been able to understand it and still don't but i won't fight it.
nicely done. great build and great review. I like what you said about making a car that makes you happy. i have a modded up mess but its unique and a blast to drive and I love it.
+Car Throttle Oh no i was trying to be funny but i didn't work :/ I loved how you said "I've seen some of his youtube videos" and then asked "whats your youtube?" At 1:15 . But thank you so much for replying!

I'm in love with Honda, I never used to be until I was looking for my first car of which I have chosen the civic EP1 which is perfect. I guess it sucks that some people call me a ricer, but I don't mind defending it. Such a tonne of fun and I'll define be making videos on my little civic.
I dont know why that slow dumpy looking car is soo endeering and buttugly beautiful. But i like it a lot. I could not stop smiling watching this video. That car is awesome.
Bought a 81 civic in 86 for 250 dollars. Before I had a license. The muffler was broke. I beat the shit out of that on the dirt road next to the house in Virginia Beach. I love your build. Hope to see it again.
mY FRIEND had one of those civics 1978 model in highschool and it was an amazing little ride, seriously the stock ones handled amazing if you just lowered them a bit and even stock with open exhaust was zippy really zippy... handling was amazing on stock shocks with cut springs on rubber bump stops... like amini cooper style suspension (rubber springs)... but now I think wow, that was literally a tin can of a car...
Could you imagine at this weight of the car if he threw in a B series engine even the B18B. This would fly. Awsome car and build and this little kids is what the car sport is about. Building whatever makes you happy and gets you out there no matter what your budget is. Power is not everything on the track.
Thanks for the video and your enthusiasm! There is nothing compared to being on a track on a good race car...and if is not that expensive...Better! Then you can go flat out with no regrets!.

man Honda had such neat car designs in the 70's. All there small cars are pretty cool. I just wished more kei cars would come to north america. Bombing around whistler and through bc would be so much fun in a tiny car.
My first car was a 2nd generation honda civic (early 2000's). After i had learnt to drive in it, i discovered how wickedly cool the first gen civics were. So i bought one... it was bright red with mini cooper racing stripes! Hondamatic! Its automatic but you had to change the gears, of which there were 2 of them!! (The 2nd gen civic hondamatic had 3 gears). Even with two gears it would do 140 km/h (according to its velocemeter). I bought a parts car to swap a manual transmission into it. Great little car. Loads of style. Turned heads every where. I could fit a tuba in the back, folding down the back seats, and on one occasion i had to rescue my scooter, which also fitted in the back. Loved it! Unfortunately where i live now in South America never had them, but i'm cool with my split window kombi, Mitsubishi L100, and VW bug!!
Now that's cool, I used to have a 79 1200cc Civic. I have a 97 EK Civic coupe with a boosted B18B1 on 12 lbs it made 302 HP through a GSR transmission. It's alot of fun. I built the engine and swapped it from a VTEC single cam. It doesn't look as fun to drive as this Civic though...
This car is totally amazing, I have meet Georges before he left France to make his Japan tracks trip and he was a great driver, and certainly more now. Great car, great guy, great passion... You mean I can have a wide body kitted prius with a giant wing and dragon stickers and that's still cool?
im not seventeen yet but my dad brought me a mazda rx7 1996 ready for me to turn into a track car you can do anything if you belive in yourself.
+Jake Reynolds but your dad bought if for you, what does that have to do with believing in yourself when you get it as a present, lmao!!
When he peeled off duct tape to remove his hood, I knew this guy was Legit!! XD
Ummm not duct tape actually it is 100 mile per hour tape.
Unj
Explanation, for the duct tape, please? Is it for aerodynamics?
@@nutshot_brawler8466 I assume it's to stop his hood flying off when he's going round the Nurburgring 😂
This cannot get any better than that a man is reviewing his car while holding the bonet
lol

I love Alex's reactions. Its like seeing a child enjoying at the amusement park.

I thought of that very episode when i seen that white van lol
wait a second, is she still trying to beat his time? That was years ago when that episode aired
its a joke fam
yea I saw that too
I had to scroll down way too much to find this comment
He passed all of those 911's with just 135hp.
Yeah but 135hp with a close ratio transmission, and only 650kg to haul around, that thing will be pretty nippy
The lesson is: power to weight ratio.
His car has about 208 BHP/Metric T. and that Porsche he passed looked like a Carrera s, so it's about 242 BHP/Metric T. Plus it doesn't hurt he's a hell of a driver.
they are shitty drivers
it wasnt a race i think. just a lap. everyone was letting him pass, you can see him wave to them to say "thanks"
''No matter what you do, who you are or what you like, if you like cars make damn sure that you own or build something that makes you happy and serves exactly the prupose you need it''. damn, this video is completly inspirational, love it.
You know it's fast when you know you can take a 911 Turbo in the straight
the Porsche was obviously not giving full throttle
+Horst Lustig sure thing buddy, keep telling yourself that
+Ichigo D. 1.Watch again.
2.Delete your comment.
Or the Porsche driver wasn't as skilled as the Honda driver and couldn't carry as much speed. That's more a likely scenario.
There's a saying along the lines of "if you can't win a race with 100hp, 1000hp won't help you ether"
Nice video. Love how you show the built side of Hondas unlike other channels that talk crap about Hondas 24/7
I love how this guy casually walks round his car with the hood in his hands
Outstanding!! my son just purchased a 1975 wagon 5 speed with 92,000. Its going to be his project car. I can't wait to see the final result. This is such a cool car, and damn impressive driving skills too. It's a pleasure to see such a creation. Performance art for the track :)

This guy was passing porsches like it was nothing! Maximum respect for this guy
wow, I've had a 74 78 and 79 aswell as b16 and b18 civic I can't imagine the scary fun you have with that beauty...Enjoy! and stay safe
That IS the coolest! No $$$$ paintjob bullshit crap, just an awsome little car. I like it. The bumbs and dents on it fit it well!
sleepers, they always looks like a normal stock car. But underneath it, there's a beast waiting to roar. yeah, I love this kind of cars too
+Razerphynx I know, thats a perfectly tuned up track car.
I'm referring to his word "no paint job bullshit crap"
+Daffa Abieza not a sleeper has a crx motor if anything he should have put a gsr motor in it and boosted it.
+Daffa Abieza if that was a sleeper it would have steelies and a biege leather interior and it would smell like 1973
fuck off little bitch its the built its what you make , its not knowing what you got but what you built
Such an awsome car. Very nice guy. Thank you alex and carthrottle for sharing this. Love it
this dudes car is the definition of power to weight ratio
