Superman's line that he "rope a doped" Jax-Ur is actually brilliant. "Rope a dope" was one of famed boxer Muhammad Ali's signature strategies. Ali would lean against the rope, arms up in defense, pretending he was overwhelmed, and let his opponent pummel him. His opponent would assume this was their chance to end the match, and absolutely lay into Ali. However as Ali was leaning back against the ropes, the ropes were absorbing much of the punches' force. The opponent would tire, and then Ali would jump out on the attack. Why does this matter so much? DC once put out the comic _"Superman Vs Muhammad Ali",_ where Superman was first trained in boxing by Ali himself, and then actually boxed against him. (without powers, of course) So Superman is not simply *familiar* with Ali's moves and strategies, he literally learned them directly from the source!
@NoOne-ev7vj Initially no. His contingencies are more "In case something happens we need to stop them." Note that most seek to incapacitate, with death being a last resort. While he might not admit it, the League becomes friends, especially Clark and Diana.

Superman is one of the most intelligent characters in the DC universe, but the writers don't know how to explore this and turn the character into a body without a brain and with only muscles.
How do you have Superman as he is supposed to be without him solving all the problems for everybody? It's my biggest complaint with the character, you literally cannot be consistent with him, especially in the larger DC or most stories just don't happen.

Exactly. That's one thing I've never quite understood. Why are Kryptonians that are new to a yellow sun capable of going toe to toe with Supes after only minimal exposure? Obviously it's for the story but Superman has been under a yellow sun since he was a baby. He should easily outclass every other Kryptonian in terms of sheer power. And DC retconned his origin after the original Crisis so his powers didn't kick in until he hit puberty, which would mean his body had to soak up solar radiation for at least ten years, so why do other Kryptonians develop them almost immediately upon exposure to a yellow sun?
