I remember when they were changing the company name from Artillery to something else to fix some issues with US customs. Guess they worked things out. This printer looks another promising addition to their lineup
Their interim name was "Evnovo." Yeah, I think Customs was getting confused by the big boxes with *ARTILLERY* stenciled on the sides (and incoming paperwork with the word *artillery* on it.) I think with adequate parts cooling it'll be a fine little printer.
Nice review of the Hornet. I actually really like the looks and innovative Bowden tube feature as well as filament spool placement. Parts cooling is an issue they need to address as I have seen this problem in other reviews too. I believe the price separation between the Hornet and Genius is going to stick around $40, just a market ploy to show a reduced list. If they would drop another $10 on this unit and fix the few problems mentioned it would make decent competition against the Ender 3 V2 especially for the first-time buyer with its ease of assembly.
Looks a bit like Bumblebee to me. They need a large format version similar to an Ender 5 Max in a red and blue color scheme, that'd make a nice set. Good review and like always, very useful content.
I love your videos, ever since I saw your channel. Your videos are educational, learning, and fun to watch. Keep on making videos, we love it! Kudos to Artillery for introducing colour into their design, I would like to see more of this in maybe some coloured extrusions on production printers, manufacturers in many industries are happy to go with one bog-standard colour for their products eg. thirty years ago I bought a dirt bike that came with blue tyres and I thought that would open the gates for more vehicles with coloured tyres, but no this has not arrived yet, then there were the vanilla PC cases but fortunately that changed. I love the Bowden and aviation connecter combo, how easy is it to change the tube? I prefer the Marlin UI with a rotary encoder as there is no uniformity to UI's on the various printers touch screens, even different models of printers made by the same manufacturer sometimes have different UI's. I saw a review of this model when it was first released ( I think around six months ago ) and unfortunately, none of this printers issues has been addressed which is a pity as this is a nice looking printer

Sadly, I don't think I've ever watched a Pink Panther movie, either the originals with Peter Sellers or the newer one with Steve Martin. (The fact that the original pre-dates me by a few years makes me feel old. OK I am old, but still.) 😅 Oh, and I did look up a scene with the Silver Hornet. LOL!
Another excellent, comprehensive video! The protruding portion of the bowden tube looks too short to extend all the way to the nozzle. Is it an all metal hot end? I love the T shirt. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Hi Corey Mac. You're right; the PTFE sticking out of the Bowden/signal cable does not go all the way down to the hot end. I believe the hot end is still PTFE lined, because there was a small additional piece of black PTFE tubing in the spare parts bag. Also thanks -- and happy holidays to you and yours! 😀
One of your videos saved my Ender 3 when I attempted to update the firmware. I had turned it into a brick as you had said. But going back over it watching your video saved it. lol Thank You !! I have a sidewinder X1 also and was wondering if you were going to put a video together about updating the X!'s firmware?
just curious. with that connector setup, what do you have to do to change a thermistor/heater/fan? Are they soldered connections to the pcb, screw block style, or something else?
Every electrical thing on the hot end has crimped connectors which plug into the breakout board inside the hot end's housing. It's the board that splits out the power, ground, and signal leads from the Bowden/cable combo. So replacing parts on the hot end will be a matter of removing the part and unplugging it, then installing and plugging in the new part, be it a fan, thermistor, or heater cartridge. Most of them look like JST XH 2.54mm 2-pin connectors. The heater cartridge's connector is a little beefier.
@ Bryan : did you test printing from USB for example with Octoprint? Does it work or having problems with that? I have used now some printers that worked fine but cannot really connect and print on the USB-connector... so just wondering. Thanks for this review.
Hell no! Looks like a giant step back. Also can you replace the Bowden tube in that all in one cable? It would be ridiculous if you had to replace the entire thing when on,y a new tube is required.
It's a bit of a weird choice, but since the PTFE from the Bowden tube & cable combo doesn't go all the way down to the nozzle, I expect it to last longer than if it did. I do expect it to be a consumable part, much like the flat flex cables on the Sidewinder and the Genius. I'm curious what Artillery plans to charge for the part though. Hopefully it won't be in the $30 range or anything like that.
I have a question for anybody. If bed is 300mm x 300mm can you print to full 300mm in either direction in x and y and if I printed at a 45° will I be able to print bigger than 300mm depending of coarse the width of project
Yes, of course as long as you are not going outside the edges of the bed-volume. You set this up in the slicer: rotate the part so that it fits. On the Sidewinder a thin part with a length of 40 cms is no problem and even over 55 cms when you start low at one corner of the bed and end up (with supports) all the way up in the air above the other corner going over the center of the bed. Of course that print is pretty weak because of the thin width in combination with a lot of layerlines but it prints.
Well, Im from arg. The land of crazy prices and taxes. Here a xiaomi mid range phone costs the same as a mid rage samsung, also, as today, in local currency the hornet is 42k, the ender 3 pro is 56k and the genius pro is 80k, so i guess artillery got the price right now whit the hornet.
I apologize. That's RUclips's automatic ad placement. It looks like they inserted a total of five ad breaks, and they're all in the first half of the video. I'm watching the video in a browser where I'm not signed into RUclips, and it looks like where they're running the video ads, they're running a pair of skippable 30-second ads back to back. For me, three of the ad breaks had a pair of skippable video ads, and the other two ad breaks had dismissible banner ads. I'll see what I can do about the aggressiveness of YT's ad placement (and frequency). 🙁
@@BV3D RUclips is getting way too aggressive, I agree. But it would take complaints from the bigger youtubers, such as chep, teaching tech and yourself, telling them that your views are affected by their aggressiveness. You guys really need to get together and make a complaint that you are affected by this. I am not against you and that is why I *didn't* unsubscribe, but I am unable to enjoy your work due to it cutting out and as such refuse to watch. It's not the 1st time I've been forced not to watch, nor the 1st time I've complained to the author. Yeah, well, Luckey Bryan did not include adds like some other yutubers do themselves, only from youtube and if you pay a subscription to youtube you don't see any adds at this video's.
LOL! I forgot to put the graphic break after the intro! 😅
TADADADA TADADADAD TADADADA TADAAADINGGGGGG
Fixed it.
It’s funnier that way
@@Sebazzz1991 That... That was perfect. Thank you. 😂
The Hornet is $179 on Amazon right now, just purchased it as my first 3d printer
well hows that going so far?
Hotend connector is super cool
The rainbow mando looks great :)

Waiting for my X1 that says Artillery on the front and Evnovo on the glass to be worth something as a collectors item...LOL
The Prusa Mini also has its Z axis stepper mounted at the top.

WHY OH WHY does any printer in 2021 NOT have a filament sensor. $2 for the manufacturers!
