I used to go swimming in those ponds as a kid. Lovely stuff.
Rewatching again because I like it.
The sticks are child wranglers and there should be some at both ends of the walk. Basically, you're allowed to borrow one and use it to remove any youths (or people who can't spell their name correctly) out of your way. 'tis a truly great device and has saved many a walk turning shitey. Also, despite it's solid wooden nature, it's super adaptable and can easily be used to accomplish your chosen method of child removal.
This is a much better explanation than fire beaters.

Great walk cool dude. Very informative, funny and a joy to watch. I guess the red fungi grew as it's the autumn months, but I would suggest they are very poisonous. The sticks with carpet on were bush (heather) whackers.
You again?! Leave out the mushroom advice mate. If you don’t know what you’re talking about then someone else could seriously hurt themselves following your advice. Colours of mushrooms are no indicator of their toxicity. The most deadly mushroom in the uk is all white and I’ve eaten some delicious red mushrooms.
@@Foragerjim Yes me again! And I was given that as a rule of thumb, but of course, if you're really unsure, cross reference it with a book dedicated to Mushrooms. Any parasol-shaped mushrooms should be avoided.

The carpet sticks are actually "Custard Oars", if you have to row through custard, you will need them.
