This is one of the best episodes for dyno testing a Mopar on YT. I didn't leave my chair. Excellent work guys.
Giassou Tom.
...a 440 with no float, smooth, at 6500rpm is fantastic....nice motor, nice price too
If its not a hemi slopars suck ,power is in the heads a 440 with tri power made 390 HP you could get a 396 Chevy with one 4 BBL that made 425 HP ,power is in the heads if its not a hemi head stock mopar heads don't flow good numbers ,show me another V8 400 cubic inches or less with one 4 BBLcarb that made 425 plus HP you can't lol
@@darrellsomers5427 396 didnt make the big low end tq of the 440. Whats your point?
@@gordocarbo the point is he’s another Chevy boy fan
I respect and admire Nick for stepping outside his comfort zone, and admittedly not his area of expertise. Stepped back and let the other guys do their thing.
KUDOs
Nick is not in the Dark or Oblivious to what took place...He is an Ace,,,,, 😎
@@jeanlawson9133 no one said he was in the dark, …Nick himself said fuel injectors and laptop tuning wasn’t his thing.
Nick seems so happy to let these Maniacs play. The motor sounds fine. The Torque is Freaking Insane. I have to wonder if the car will be any fun to drive or be any fun.
...great team fine tuning that engine...he needs a bigger car...
Easiest YT video he'll ever have to do.
Nick! You are so open-minded.. that was a great video! I remember I while back you said.. " no more headers on my dyno!" And you are chopping a bellhousin to make the headers fit! ❤️ theses guys knows what their doing! It was just awsome seeing you and them team-up and getting the results!👌
Its amazing what can be done with a true HiPo computer expert punching the laptop keys. And the guys from Ontario, they were all set up and ready to go, had everything they needed. I'm sure Nick was happy to see that. Well organized to the "N"th degree.
Did you catch Nick quickly correct them that the missfire was on 7 not 8.
That's what you call a 800hp retro-mod! Old school block with new age tech
Makes you say "what the hell is with all these guys and that LS-xyz crap?!"
@@cjm5002 True but to build this engine compared to a LS is going to cost way more than any LS build because of how much R&D has already been put into the LS builds plus they are already from the factory a cross bolted 4 bolt main block either with the cast iron block or the all alloy blocks so with any of the Chrysler B or RB blocks your looking at custom machining to have that block cross bolted to a 4 bolt main which isn't cheap . Then you have to figure in how much time and money were spent on that custom built supercharger or any other custom made parts inside that they seemed pretty quiet about which I don't blame them because maybe this is something that they might end up building as a kit form to sell eventually but will probably if they were smart have patents made for the parts or kit so you don't have people stealing your designs and ideas . I am a old school Mopar guy but like anything old from the big 3 but I've been waiting for someone to build something like this blend of old tech and new just to see how well they stand up compared to the LS and coyote engines just because I always figured that these older engines with better internals and heads with new technology inside and new technology with the superchargers could stay with these new engines . The thing with any Chrysler engine or the cars are they aren't cheap to build compared to the Chevrolet or Ford's most times and that especially now is why most go the other direction because of the money factor and how easy parts are to find and get compared to the Chrysler stuff .
@@peteloomis8456 you know, I like the way you explained why so many go towards GM, it’s NOT just a simple matter of GM being SUPERIOR (not to say they’re junk or anything like that) but economically CHEAPER to build BECAUSE OF all the legwork done beforehand. I’m a diehard mopar guy myself, but I can appreciate cost.
@@peteloomis8456 Just preaching to the choir brother, I've been saying that for decades. If I recall correctly part of Chryslers deal with ford back in the 70s was to destroy all the foundry molds for all big blocks so that never again could mopar put out these beastly engines.
@@joeljenkins2876 Yep all you have to do is look way back just after the flat head Ford was being phased out and the small block Chevrolet came out and if you looked in those early hot rod magazines everything that was made to be better or make more power and speed was tested on the small block Chevrolet first then upgraded as testing and time went on . I have some old hot rod magazines from the early to mid 60s I still like to page through but back in the day you could go out and buy a brand new 2x4 tunnel ram intake with linkage and carbs if I remember for 99.00 lol . Granted most people were only making maybe 3.00 a hour back then and 99.00 seems cheap to us today but that still was a lot of money back then to the average person who had a wife kid and a house to pay for but like you and I mentioned the leg work that GM does when designing performance stuff for engines back then still applies now in this day and age along with Ford as well and Mopar to an extent but not nearly as much being they aren't in Nascar anymore or used that much on the dirt ovals or road racing much but are more in some classes of drag racing for example the Drag pack supercharged Hemi challengers that are out that aren't doing all that bad being NHRA is making them run more weight or the cars have to be heavier than the GM and Ford for some reason from what Drag pack Dennis was saying who broke multiple records almost 2 seasons ago now with his drag pack Challenger . He's saying that the engine in his drag pack is 1,500 ish HP I would assume to the rear wheels on a small 10 inch slick that NHRA mandates for that class so it takes a lot of tuning and chassis tuning to get those cars to hook hard without spinning or loosing traction once under way down the strip further to run those mid to low 7s at 190+ mph in the now 1000 ft NHRA sanctioned tracks which used to be the 1/4 mile or 1,320 but NHRA shortened the tracks because the nitro class and pro stock cars keep going quicker and faster every couple years it seems so they shortened the tracks for safety reasons to try and slow them down which doesn't seem to working lol .
Mike and Aaron look harmless but they are obviously maniacs!
Notice engine photo on they shirts 👕
That is the types that bust your ass at the Dragstrip! 💪👀
Man this engine just blows my mind. What a beautiful build, this is Epic. Now these guys will have to build a ladder frame, with a full locker rear end otherwise it will just careen off the side of the highway. This is 100% Pro street.
Did Nick have to show them how you check a down cylinder
That's insane torque and horsepower in a street engine. That engine is going into a '71 Duster is crazy!!! Love your vlogs Nick!!! You rock brother!!!
It really is! Mike will have some fun with this set up.
Absolute brilliance went into making this episode by each of you involved. Congratulations. R.I.P. Barry Paton. What a wonderful tribute celebrating how the old stuff is often the good stuff!
Any man is this world that thinks he can do it on his own is a fool, so great to see the tribute to Barry Paton.

This is a neat combination-Nick's experience mixed with a knowledgeable builder familiar with electronic engine controls. Really enjoyed this video!
Very cool.
exactly! electronic engine management like a modern day tuner drag car.
the wheel slip sensor setup he'd mentioned, oh heck yeah it'll rock.
I am so overwhelmed with the knowledge that Nick has, not an expert with your injection, but my God, he knows everything else and really understands anything to do with an engine. I just hope you can pass your knowledge on. I’m of an age of 60 I have skills that will be lost when I go great video once again.❤👏👏
I’m sharing this video with all my friends that are motorheads. Thanks again Nick, Mike and Aaron if you guys are fabulous…
Awesome, thank you!
I am speechless Nick. What an amazing video. I needed to calm down before I have a stroke! This is what engine building is all about.
Glad you enjoyed it!
OMG!! Tire melting, axle snapping torque. It's gonna be the World's sickest Duster!
Wow! Just Wow Nick that was one mean 440/535 cb's but what nice numbers but um! to much for the street. Mike & Aaron did a great job on the build. Thanks for yet another awesome video all. Take care all till next time and have a beaut week.
Right on!
Love nick and his garage
The roar of the engines
Right on!
The plan, the building and collecting of parts, synchronicity of said parts, meticulously assembling of said parts, patiently adding and subtracting, pullies, timing etc. and executing it, on incremental pulls, on an old school mopar stock OEM cast iron block bored out, meets new school supercharger, on pump gas?*!WOW! great job guys, there was a lot learned here, thank you!
I just discovered this show today and I love it so I’m subscribed.
We’re glad you found us!
Nick is one of two of my favorite RUclips channels. He is so down to earth and real. The other channel is "Itchy Boots". She is down to earth and real too! What a great bunch of guys. Another great episode Nick!
Appreciate the kind words !
Great job guys on that build! My condolences to the Paton family and friends.
Nick is such a genuine person! His enthusiasm is electric! Even though fuel injection is not what he typically deals with, his wealth of knowledge in engines was there providing the foundation on which these men could stand on to be able to accomplish and achieve the goal of 800HP! 802 to be more accurate!
😅🤣😂🙂😁🤣
That motor in a sleeper 63 Chrysler 300n
I think a better term for Nick is "Gracious host"
I didn't think the 440 had it in it,That was a tremendous job by all...good luck gettin it hooked up Great Video.
You can get a lot more out of a 440 than that.this engine is a great example.
I love this channel, keeps me pinned in my seat every time and Nick is such a brilliant and nice man, I'm so glad he didn't retire ... AND 802 H.P. with 800 Foot pounds of torque on pump gas is insane .... I truly hope the owner puts as much effort into getting the old Duster to hook as he has into this engine.
Oh he will, it's coming together quite well as of late.
Top end - Unlimited - Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry movie that quote should be on this motor can only imagine
Imagine being pinned in the seat of that Duster damn
@@dennisgrubbs1929 love that movie and I agree 100%
Mike and Aaron did a top job on that motor build and tune. It was impressive. Well done all.
What a monster motor from my home town. Proud to see it. Great video Nick.

That is so awesome you hit over 800 HP. So exciting and proud of all of you!
Thank you for sharing this 800HP, 800Ft-Lbs project!
Hello Nick, your show is a dream come true for Big Block Mopar fans.
You have shared your Dyno results with lots of different combinations.
May, God Bless you.
Finished watching and that was really cool to see . I'm amazed at how smooth that 800 hp supercharged engine idle . 2 years in the making WOW. Nick , big Hemi with GMC 671 BLOWER AND 2 BIG FOUR BARRELS FOR YOU NEXT CAR ...Hint ,hint ...lolololol They brought it to the right man to run and help tune his dyno . It would be cool to have a follow up with it in the Duster . Nick , all the great Mopars and others come to Nick's Garage...Happy Monday to all and have a great week .
A 671 is TOO small for a "big hemi".
@@davelowets What size would you go to ?

this is what it looks like when professionals come together this is a beast loved watching thanks to all
Half way through the video and I love it what a monster
I am amazed at how "domestic" that engine sounds at start up!!!!!
But put the petal to it and wow! 699.9 Tq at 4300 rpm...with the 3.75" pulley... just wow!
Love these videos, Nick thank you.
thats kind of the beauty of power adders...build a mild but stout motor and add boost to get power.
Sounds awesome! The start up was extremely clean…
It was! The guys did great.
Fuel injection...
That engine must cost a fortune. ❤. Rest In Peace your mentor. 🙏
Gooood evening guys!!!! What a FANTASTIC video, watching that big-inch Mopar strutting its stuff!!! WHAT A BEAST!!!! You could see how pumped everybody was as the numbers kept edging higher and higher: nothing like a plan that comes together. Congratulations to everyone involved in this venture: TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!!!! My condolences on the loss of Mr. Paton. Great week to you all!!!!!!
Thank you.
Nick, you are such a nice guy and you just have a super friendly attitude.
You're the best man.
Great show. Awesome guests. And LOTS of torque!
I appreciate that!
Congratulations to those guys. Those numbers had to be so gratifying after two years of development. Really interesting design. Great episode!
Thank you Barry Paton , RIP SIR , thank you from Tulsa Oklahoma USA 🇺🇸 🙏 🏁
Wow!!! What a ride that will be!! My gosh it be crazy with a 6 speed stick. Lol
The suspense in this video actually made me nervous seriously 😳
These numbers using a cast block….. borderline insanity! And at such a relatively low rpm’s? He’s a magic man!
Oh that's way cool nick nice to see a built 440 with a blower nice to see some ontario boys nice duster guys
I may not be qualified to leave an opinion, but, wow! Good show.
Old school and New school working together is a thing of beauty…
Congrats on joining the 800 club ❤❤
Congratulations on making it! Great engine. Idles smooth and quiet and produces all that torque and HP! WOW! Great show. R.I.P. Barry.
That Duster is going to be scary! Awesome work guys!! Awesome of you Nick to have them run it on the dyno!! Thanks for another awesome video!
This build is a wet-dream of mine. Everything about merging the beast muscle with the modern engineered power adders, in one sexy package, kicks me in the guts! Amazing job building this you guys, and amazing job tuning it Mr. Nick!!!
What a monster 800hp that would be fun to play around with . sorry to hear a friend passed on but I bet he was there watching awesome video keep them coming and see you Friday
My 71 340 duster worked well but a duster with that motor it must be one wild ride! Show us a pass at the track! Nick has the best job in Canada!
Thanks Red!
Those VMP superchargers make big power. I have seen Ford Coyotes make over 1000 hp easily with the VMP setup
This unit was adapted from a Ford application.
Awesome video Nick. This was teamwork at its finest. Hope we can get to see the Duster run...
Love Nicks reaction "these are crazy numbers "
BLASTED HEADERS!.. humorous watching from this end, sorry to say. L0L 😁 Best automotive content on RUclips in this ol' fart's opinion.
Thanks Gene.
So interesting how you can see the rpm , for both torque and horsepower, remained essentially the same, but adding boost and a nudge on the timing just kept increasing power at the same engine speeds. That torque at so low an RPM is amazing fun for a street car and should actually increase the engine life by lowering the wear factor associated with having to go to extreme rpms to make the power you want. This video really is so enlightening and educational. I would bet that , if they haven't already, they will be beefing up the chassis of that Duster with torque boxes and other specific gussets to handle that power. One other bit of magic is to use a high speed low windage design in the oil pan, assuming they don't already have that as well. Just a beautiful job guys.
I need to see the finished duster
And on top of all that, it's a beautiful engine too. Lots of aluminum artistry in the design, I've never seen such a modernized Mopar B/RB. Top job in every respect.
Wow,where there's a will there's a way, this show was fantastic. I don't think they could of done it without you Nick. Hats off to them. This was gear head nirvana. Loved every second of this show.
Excellent video!
Old school meets new school!!!
What a mind trip ,absolutely amazing guys
What a beast. These engine builders really know there stuff the sound it made even when it just starts up is amazing. Very fun video

What a tribute to a man you clearly respected very much, could see it tearing you up..... the world needs to have more of this, individuals can be very special and when they leave us we should never forget them. Nicks comment was spot on, look what he left you. May Barry rest in peace.
well done to the builder and tuning aspect also.
technology is king and boost will make crazy numbers if setup right.
Another great video with so much learning experience i get

Glad you enjoy it!
Good Job! Awesome Engine!
I love how he said "It is out of my league." Humility and confidence. I would bet that Nick could do it if he wanted to.
Always a pleasure to see a fellow Greek doing excelent job.
Just awesome video nick!!! THANK you to all the guys who made it possible! CHEERS!!!!
What a cool mix of parts...and people!...Very well done!
This guy knows what he's doing. A burned wire was really the only issue. No leaks, starting issues, idling, and the list goes on. 20" of vacuum makes it crazy mild. But I am not sure about filling the block for a Street Application. That's on the owner to figure out. But the quality of the build and engine management is excellent!
Good to see Nick out of his comfort zone & playin with modern technology, & what a AWESOME live show that was, ya get an A+ for that one, lmao
Not sure if anyone reads these comments, but one thing for sure, Nick is a solid, honest guy, great video's. I say this because were in the same biz, I've dealt with many others, Can, and US. Holy crap what a motor. Good stuff, made my day. I built a 340 that made 425 hp on the dyno. I thought that was good, but something you said about net horse power, had never thought about it. My motor was without the other hardware to run car. I stuffed that 340 in a big B body, with a 5 speed, loads of fun. Thanks again for video.
And this monster is going into a Duster. Hope you guys have a good tire budget, cause this monster is going to shred them. WOW! RIP Barry Paton. As usual, great camerawork George. Thank you Nick for sharing this outrageous dyno session with us. That was AWESOME!. Stay safe all, God Bless.
Just had my right leg amputated below the knee. Home recovering.....LOTS of work lies ahead to get back to even doing the simple stuff we all take for granted. I've been feeling pretty darn overwhelmed. I say that....not for sympathy, by any means.....but to tell Nick and the gang that this video was a JOY from beginning to end. I have been wanting someone to build this exact set up with a 440. We all know the hemi is the big daddy, but all the 440s out there. Build before fuel injection. And never really supercharged, until now. This is what I expected was possible all along. I would have given almost anything to have had one of these in my 68 road runner!!!! Congratulation!!! And thanks for showing the Dodge Boys what's possible!! Who knows, someone may beat these numbers, but ya'll did it first!!! Awesome engineering and fabricating skills!! Be very proud, you deserve it!!
I was impressed just how smooth the engine ran and how nice it looked. Now the trick is to build the car so it can handle that HP.
Insane! Well done!
Those numbers are INSANE, and that is NET H.P.! That's what I really like seeing.
NO. This would be gross H.P.
"Net" would be IN the car, after all accessories and front drive attached.
@@davelowets > excuse me, but all the accessories were on the motor, and even Nick called it Net HP.- Only it didn't go thru the trans and rear end, but doesn't the Dyno equal that load?
