As a Jamaican I owned a mark x for 4 years and it was the best car I owned . Very reliable and comfortable not to mention when you put your foot to the gas pedal it does respond. Mine was a four wheel drive though and I didn’t regret it
The Mark X is popular in my country 🇿🇲, Mozambique, Pakistan, Jamaica and a few other countries. The supercharged 2gr and limited manual version are difficult to find.
I went with a Crown Hybrid (GWS204), and love it to bits, but if I was a younger man, I think the Mark X is really where it's at. That 0-100 was extremely impressive.
@AvenirRacing dude how is the battery of your crown holding up? I'm keen on getting one but with the batteries being 12+ years old, wondering if they've lost too much capacity?
@@byronde Honestly, I've already had the P0A7F code twice lmao. Clear it and keep going. I've budgeted for a replacement, and the car is still driving effortlessly, I've just been lazy. But if you buy one, get a new battery ordered asap. Mine is fine most of the time currently, but it does drain very, very quickly (in traffic, it'll drop from 80% to 10% within 400 meters.) I'll be ordering from InfiniteEV - $4,220, shipped, supplied, fitted+labor, and old battery disposed of, including decent warranty. Not too bad.
Not to mention if you are trying to repair/restore these - you ain't going to get help nor support from Toyota/TOM'S/Ogura... Everyone just wants to race in these, but nobody gives a shite about repairing/maintaining it.
In Jamaica my brother has a 2013 gs 250. Very nice car. Burns fuel way too high. What we do here is tune them for better fuel economy and higher power with better pedal and gear switch response time. I must say though, when you clean up one of these its a reallll beauty
I was looking to get one of these but ultimately went with an IS F when one came up for a good price. *also it's G's, not GS. Later replaced with GR Sport.
The Mark X is no secret...these beauties are popular all over Japan and in parts of the Carib. By far one of my favorite looking Toyotas since the X130 came out.

Interesting review on the Mark X. I really like that it is rear wheel drive. They would be a much better handling car than the standard Camry. It’s a shame they didn’t release them here. It’s a good looking car. Far more interesting than the boring EVs and SUVs. How has our choice of car become so limited as time goes on?

There is an higher trim version to this which would be the Mark-X GRMN, that one as better aero, brakes, suspension and is equipped with a six manual transmission.
It comes with a six speed manual. Jamaica real loves this car. It started with the Mark II. In Jamaica they can build this to 1000hp if you have the money.
for such a slouch box that's a great 0-100 time! didnt even know these were RWD. Now someone just needs to lend you an RV37 400R as I think these have been slept on too.
Just a heads up, the 2015 Aurion models has a button to turn off traction control. I know you already reviewed a TRD & the older standard ATX 40 series model. But if you could, give the 50 series Aurion a try, especially the sportivo version. It's quicker, handles better, and it's faster than the older series.
The Crown Athlete also very awesome. Mark II, Mark X, Chaser, Brevis, Verossa, Blade very common in Suriname. Mark X especially used as getaway car by cr!m!nals....but now an ordinary Vitz (not GS or RS) has become more popular as getaway car.

Tuning capabilities are limited with the 2gr-fse,not to be confused with the 2gr-fe which is in the aurion here in Aus,..The supercharged trd aurion had to be detuned to 242kw because anything close to 300kw they were destroying bottom ends ...The motors are ridiculously expensive to build up to handle the power ...It's a massive reason I didn't buy one myself, because they visually are one of my fav jdm cars
Install some aftermarket coil overs to get rid of the body roll and some good quality tires (Pilot Sport 4S) and it would improve pretty much all it's dynamic flaws by the sound of things.
These are good, I prefer to shift with the lever rather than the paddles, you don't notice the latency as much, I prefer the is350 or gs350 but they're all good dailies, and pretty quick around town.
The Aurion got the FE and the Mark X and Crowns got the FSE. Another 30 something killerwasps on the FSE. Why they didn't throw that in the Aurion I will never know.

I imported one of these from Japan last August and I've been really happy with the car. For a V6 the fact that it makes 240 kws is really impressive, but honestly the biggest surprise is how light this thing weights. It is the same lenght as a 2015 bmw 5 series and it weights 1460 kilograms 😂 which is pretty insane to me.
