I feel like this type of video is really incomplete without mentioning hi3rd, that game has 2-3 new unique skins EVERY PATCH, with a lot of them being paid only with massive changes to the visuals of the characters. There is a precedent for high effort skins in hoyo games which just makes the lack of them in GI and SR even more odd.
@@gameb9oyi think so, that game seems to want to appeal to the "waifu crowd" more than GI and HSR, so im fully expect them to make more skins for that game
The lack of a friendship system in Star Rail hurts the game as much as the lack of skins there. You'd think that using Firefly or Acheron a lot would give you a special phone wallpaper or chat box, much like Genshin's namecards after you max a character's friendship level. Unlike skins, they're a lot easier to implement since they're just decorations for your profile.
I don't even care about that as much as just... having birthday letters from the characters. We don't even have official birthdays for any of the Star Rail characters...
@@JosepiThe13th how do birthdays work if years aren't the same length and alot of people would just have their birthday at the last day of the year. which you don't know when it happens.
As someone leveld up traveler to 90(becore dendro came out) i will tell you i will take the bare minumim of just him in a normal swiming outfit, in fact i will take anything you put on the table
Before video: I think it's because they keep pushing 2-3 characters almost every patch. While games PGR/HI3 dedicate a patch on a single character hence why their roster is smaller, have enough time to rework old units and create skins. To be fair, We really don't know the exact reason since if HY really wants it. They can do both.
Skins are a waste of time to make in this type of game EXCEPT if they make a whole new animation and kit, which is what they will bring, skins BUT along with new kit and animation (battle suit system).
@@jerryeljeremy7790wdym skins are a waste lmao? Look at hi3 and the amount of outfits and skins that are in that game and even if pgr is a smaller game it doesn't mean kuro doesn't work hard on making those skins
@@sirin4248 It is. What I meant is it is similar to Merch that doesn't affect the game itself. HI3 skins exist cuz HI3 was in the direction of being a typical waifu-collecting game, until they realized the game became too big so they start to censor their stuff and focus on the writing aspect more. HSR is vastly different. It's more of a sweaty game, so less people will go out their way to just collect skins UNLESS it offer something useful in-game.
For everyone commenting "but HI3", I think you should consider that HI3 doesn't add new characters at the insane rate that Genshin & Star Rail do. HI3 is much more.. I guess core cast oriented I would say? Sure they add new units but their cast bloat is nothing like the other games. I would even go so far to say they add skins for these characters BECAUSE they don't add many new ones. They are giving characters skins because they are still the focus. HI3 may add like 3 skins per patch, but Genshin and HSR add like 3 characters per patch lmao. Obviously not always, but I think it's a relevant thing to consider.
Yeah cast not a lot but...108 battle suit is a lot. Not including the animations, reworked characters and skin animation. Still doesn't explain why Mihoyo just gives free skin to all the characters...Mihoyo could've just easily made them P2G.
@@dan2800 Don't get me wrong. But between the three, HI3rd is the hardest one to animate. While SR is a turn base, so pumping characters is much easier. I'm just saying 107 or 8 is still a lot.
This only accounts for skins that would have unique animations/effects, not to mention games like hsr being fairly easy to animate (in comparison to the other games, including hi3rd) like, they could just do one special effect skin each year if it's so hard, but they don't even do stuff like recolors and such. To me, this just proves they refuse to do it, despite being able to.
I'm so glad they didn't take the genshin route. Most of genshin skins are so similar with the original one except a few like ningguang. This new march is exactly what I wanted, a completely different vibe of outfit for the character, not just march but in liyue, or march in belobog.
@@jacobgym What I mean is her outfit vibe is different than the og one, there's little to see her color pattern like purple and blue and white like her dress in belobog.
It's not a skin tho, a skin would have been (supposedly) something more like the dress she had for 1.4 Belobog. Saying that the Luofu variant is a skin while it's not even the same playstyle is just dead-wrong
I'm still wondering if the New March 7th was a way to showcase a future way to give spotlight to the other characters. If they do it this way, though... we will never go out of the Calyx farm for the Traces Mats.
I really want skins in Star Rail. Maybe through character exclusive light cones that are effectively two extra traces and a pile of stats. I'd love to pay for a way to invest in Natasha, Serval, or Sampo. Skins could really be an opportunity to buff those early game characters that got left behind, especially the 4-star characters that I *would* like to invest in
@@BestgirlJordanfish first of all, my point is that liking both personalities is just really odd. Second, if you want to be bi in Belabog you have to be a woman and either in charge or at least a 9.
I don't really get this mindset of people wanting to pay for any feature of a gacha game. If you could earn stuff through grinding, that would be a great option, especially if there was a second option to obtain it quicker by purchasing it. But you're really asking a multi-billion dollar company to implement features/items you have to exclusively pay for to obtain? Why..? And apologies if this isn't exactly what you meant. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Why Genshin's skins don't feel that special is because they never really differ all that much from the original outfit. Usually the colors are the same as is the style. If they ventured more into a "what if" situation with skins they could be so much more interesting. Personally I'm really not fond of Hoyos skins policy for Genshin and Star Rail. It makes old characters feel, well, old. And in my opinion it "devalues" all the characters in a way. What I mean by that is, the character is tossed out there and that's the last time Hoyo is gonna truly care about that character (besides maybe digging them up for some event, with Star Rail having a better approach by letting us revisit places in the main story to meet the characters again). Some characters never even get their limited spotlight during story quests so they just... exist to be forgotten. I really wish they'd care more for the characters they already put out there. For Star Rail they might take a different approach (taking March as an indicator) and to me that's promising so far.
I think I get your point. Even the most recent skins for Nilou and Kirara share similar color pallettes and type of clothing (dresses and short-shorts). Even Ayaka's skin just shifts her from a Inazuman "Princess" in blue to a Fontanian "Princess" in blue. I've had friends make fun of how Xingqiu's recent skin barely changed how he looks apart from a ponytail. I think Lisa's skin is the only one the really feels "different" because it shifts our perception of her from the librarian we know into a "Akademiya mode." It would be more interesting to have a character skin that either is far more casual (like Arknight skins) or go against how we usually see them. But I can see how this is difficult to achieve because Genshin is a fantasy game- how everyone is dressed IS their casual. The only way to make a fantasy character look more fantastical is to push the boundaries more. It's just that Genshin devs are playing it too safe right now. Another problem with Genshin is that they need an excuse for most of these skins to exist. Why they only come during limited events and Lantern Rite. They can't just do it for fun, we need PLOT. I personally think that's holding them back, but I can see the intent. Personally, here's how I think they can handle it- skins that REALLY lean into a character's lore/title. Albedo is the Kriedprinz- give him a fairytale prince skin, crown and everything. Sucrose is his assistant and is obsessed with bringing a fantasy world from her childhood into reality. Give her a princess skin to match Albedo's. I would have preferred it if it was Navia who got a skin in 4.8 rather than Nilou. Lean hard into the King role. Change her short skirt into a straight up ballroom gown. Shift her color scheme from black/navy to white. Huge crown on head. Mustache optional. They could also have skins like Lisa's that show how they looked like in their past. Or maybe "what if" scenarios. Rosaria used to be a bandit. A skin based on her background! Thoma is originally from Mondstadt. A skin that answers the question "what would he look like if he just stayed there?" Hell, go the Lisa route and give every Akademiya character a skin of their uniforms or how they looked when they were students. And throw in Wanderer and Collei in there as well. .... But there comes the issue you brought up. Genshin is really bad at managing screentime that, at this point, it feels borderline neglectful. There's a reason I brought up Mondstadt characters a lot- they have the hardest time fighting for screentime. For example- until 4.8, it really felt like Albedo and his subplot was forgotten. It sucks how they tie skins with events, because it does feel like the skins are the most these characters will get until they're neglected. Rather than promoting a character or it being a sign of future plots- a Hoyo skin in Genshin means "this is it- this is the peak of their story!" And maybe that's not their intention, but it damn well feels that way. I would love if Genshin will eventually come out with "improved" versions of older characters, especially the 5* standards. Like what HSR did with March and what so many other gacha games (eg. Arknights & Azur Lane) do with older characters. Not just a new look, but a new set of skills and improved stats. Like a new Mona whose kit and cons improve her role as a damage buffer. Or a Qiqi build that improves her energy needs and gives her more benefits as a team member (like buffing others.) And they could try to make them story-relevant. Not just for events. Make it a sign of character growth and development. ...I hate that my rambling is all just a pipe dream. I can't imagine them going that far for older characters when they can just keep adding new ones 😢

5:46 - still doesnt make any business sense: If a person is already spending enough for 6 copies of the character then I am pretty sure the same person would buy the skin and thus earning hoyoverse more money. And even if skins can be labor intensive to animate Mihoyo has enough resources for extra manpower or they can make skins that the clothing doesnt have that much physics My theory is that the process of releasing skins involves dealing with CCP censorship (and perhaps they review the entire game every time they do this) and perhaps is just something that is such as pain in the ass to the point mihoyo releasing few skins
I am pretty sure it's cause creating a new character with new effects will earn them more money for the same work rather than creating entirely new special effects for older characters. It's business math, not CCP censorship.
@@RKNancybut skins are available year round for both people who already have them and players who will eventually get them. while i get the reluctance for limiteds, kinda no reason for standards. even less reason for march because they already designed, modeled, and rigged the outfit.
@@RKNancy Azur lane i my favourite example if it comes to simple math. That game has so many characters, but would not stop them from producing so many skins for almost all of them, multiple different skin for the same character even. Even the amount of work for it is less than creating a new character. Besides making the model, you have to make a new kit and constantly balance it to the point that jiaoqiu kit had been changed with every version of the beta.
Meanwhile, Honkai impact 3rd: "Here you go. Skins for A ranks and S ranks. Some of them you can get for free! Even the ones for S ranks that change their effects!" Edit* This was originally supposed to be a funny comment, but after seeing other people's comments disregarding HI3 into the discussion because "Oh it's irrelevant/dead/idc about HI3 because it's not the main 3" is very strange. As if the reason why it can't be pointed out is because "it's not relevant" which in turn; invalidates HI3, a HoYo game, in a discussion about HoYo game skins. Which is stupid.
It only reveals the fact that despite being games from the same company they still develop them in different ways, perhaps due to creative differences. I would say that is precisely because of their "lower player base" compared to Genshin or HSR, that HI3RD can afford to take their time in developing new stuff and creating new skins every patch because they don't feel the same pressure.
Yeah but DO YOU WANT GENSHIN TO BE LIKE HI3? @@seratiel5195 Except lower player base = less monetary gain from skins = less incentive to make new skins. Even if Honkai is a passion project there's this thing called "leaving money on the table" and Genshin being the cash cow would be the prime target to do something about it.
@@abadenoughdude300 that doesn't make sense. In that case, Honkai Impact that has the least monetary gain in comparison to HSR, ZZZ and Genshin wouldn't be releasing a new skin every patch. And I think is pretty obvious that Honkai and HSR are the developers favourite game, they put so much effort in developing those games. So much that it feels they take away all the money from Genshin and put it into Honkai. You said yourself, Genshin is the cash cow, and that's the reason they never do something with it and instead put all the money into their other projects
I think the March outfit will return as a new path for March like what they did with hunt March it doesn’t necessarily have to be skins they might also add skins for crossovers like the fate crossover next year they could give Clara a skin for the crossover
"Wow you can summon a warrior to protect you? That's really neat, so can I! Check out my laser cannon class summon!" -Clara in a Japanese school uniform.
Just wanted to add, March’s ‘princess outfit’ was leaked, I mean dreamt about, way before the patch went live, and those dreams showed it off in her actual combat animations, including her ultimate. And perhaps also in overworld, I’m not 100% sure. It really looks like they were planning to release it and decided not to at the last moment?
Financially speaking, it would still be better to invest in skins because it expands the money-spending audience and will likely retain them. One of the reasons I quit Genshin was the lack of skins. It's low risk, high reward; despite the subjectivity of skins, people will still buy if they like the character. MUCH LESS WORK than creating new characters bc you don't need special effects in HSR (the alternate path characters can do that). No story quest needed if you just use the skins that already exist. Also, it would be a nice addition to the monthly reset for 4* characters, since most of us already have or will eventually E6 them.
Funniest part of the "but HI3" comments is the disparaging "but recolor" replies from Genshin mains who don't even get that (a recolor would be like 5 minutes of work lol). Also, apart from the actual recolors from when the game was in its infancy, as far as the new skins are concerned even the free ones are a complete redesign, it all boils down to if there's vfx added or not.
Yeah the skin situation is tragic. It feels like hoyo doesn't really see the value in cosmetics. Imagine travelling 6 nations and still being boneless with the same fit when you're an *adventurer* like pls let the MC take a little piece of each nation or something with them. With HSR I thought they'd add M7's dress during Ani or sth but nope. Idrk what the deal is there. If Aven had that suit alt as an outfit. I'd prob roll a bit more on him. I don't like the chest window in his current outfit. If Topaz got it, I'd def buy it she's one of my favs.
For genshin, ironically my fav one and imo the best designed skin is fischl alt skin which is free. Crazier to think that it was free It's impactful bc it ties to her char development, kinda like how anima char design evolves whenever they got major development/resolving certain conflict Style wise, it speaks fischl so much, the princess look, the not too ooc theme. Compared to say, shenhe's all black outfit it doesnt carry much bc its still the usual one long dress look
100% correct! and personally for me fischl event story when her skin was released was one of the best event story in genshin. really did Fischl justice
I really don't get why GI and HSR don't get so many skins but HI3 are loaded with not only a lot of asking but some that completely change the effects of a character
Yeah, that’s the video I want to see. Reading a bunch of the other comments, I’m getting onboard with the idea that HI3 is much more focused on its core cast of characters from both a story and gameplay standpoint. Since that game doesn’t introduce new characters often, the skins are filling the role new characters fill in GI/HSR/ZZZ. Meanwhile, those newer games are constantly introducing new characters, so they don’t need skins as badly.

I like the idea of paths added to some characters. This hoping March isn't the only one in the 4 stars to get this treatment. I'd not mind them doing this with Natasha or Asta. Characters we got in the early game but are a bit useless in some parts of the late game. Mainly Natasha. Which hurts as I love her character in Star Rail.
2:18 buddy, they are NOT easier. getting two off banner 4 stars that are the same is less likely than it is for double five stars. ALSO it feels like they rerun xiangling and bennet every other patch with gaming too, meanwhile heizho has been missing since 3.7!
i thought it was because of that one cn player who reported hoyo because of a summer skin of HOV in hi3 which they probably dont want to get involved with breaking law again in china which is why they dont make as much skin now as they had in hi3
I don't really the exact details of drama tbh (thats the "bunny girl" controversy right?) but that doesn't really make sense because 1) hi3 still releases many skins and 2) plenty of other games have skins and nothing about skins would violate Chinese law unless it was NSFW. Its likely just because designing/animating skins would cost nearly as much as just making an entirely new character but only make a fraction of the amount of money.
that doesn't make any sense considering they're still releasing skins (including re-releases) in hi3 at basically the same rate. the outfits have gotten no less skimpier, both alt outfits and the original battlesuits themselves
i'll hate it if the game made 'outfit skin' which costs stellar jade. if they gate it using the paid currency, i'll uninstall. either make them obtainable or keep things the same way as march's and dan heng's.
I remembzr how pretty march 7 was and then I searched Everywhere how to get that skin back and it ended me up in the modding community because of how much I wanted that outfit as permanant....
i still don't understand why hoyo didn't release a scaramouche skin, like how he looked like at the beginning. He has such a large fanbase who's ready to do anything for him and was kinda upset when they released his new appearance... they would sell their entire houses if it meant to get his original skin.

@@Lithersol yeah but Hi3 just uses same rigging and it's noticeably lower quality older models. You can especially notice difference on how clothing behaves in Hi3 and modern Hoyo games. In Hi3 it's just one big solid piece with 2-3 bends while in HSR clothing really behaves like a material
i wish they had skins, the possibilities for animation changes are so big considering the fact its a turn based game and changing animations completely for a cool skin wouldnt hurt the gameplay
3:43 yeah, that’s definitely what do! (Totally doesn’t primarily use Geopard, Firefly, Boothill, and Bilu since I have them and am crap at team building and Boothill is my best and very few built characters)
A reason why I dont buy the perspective of it being a lot of work is because well, they put a lot of work into the game anyways. Im sure its a lot of work to do those trailers. Im sure its a lot of work to design those worlds. Etc. In that gigantic company, they cant manage to spend some time to make a skin for a popular character to make potentially A LOT of money? Just sounds odd. I would absolutely invest and hire more people to design alternate skins for popular characters to make money. But it is what it is
only they know what their revenue is. they might not want to invest more in skins if those aren’t generating significant revenue compared to just making new characters idk how it is in hsr but in genshin, the skins released are incorporated into the story in some way and fits within the lore
@@boredscorpio1989 Yeah but you can have people work on new characters, then have other people work on skins for said characters. Hey, would you mind doing an analysis of the Genshin's new Artifact Transmutter? I've seen so many people complained about it but if you think about it carefully I think it is better than Self Modeling Resin. I would really appreciate your opinion.
It depends on how many you will be able to get per patch. Right now we can get: +1 from artifact discard +1 from anniversary mail +2 from pyro token exchange +3 from Tribe exploration (+1 from battle pass) Which is Id say a solid amount, but it depends heavily on exploration, meaning that updates that are empty in terms of exploration will have MUCH less of these. Unless they will figure out something like maybe adding it as rewards in abyss/theater
I mean tbf it’s not completely a bad thing if this where EA we would allready have 200+ skins for each individual character that you still have to buy but it would be nice if they did an unlock system instead of paid one which I think would work quite nicely for hsr
Tbh, between having them work on a useless skin or 2/more new characters per patch........ I think I prefer the new characters, its not like the designs are bad to begin with
I prefer on skins becouse after main quests patches end and they release all the important characters and in between them they put some random character that barely did anything in main story Id rather get a new skin Characters like chiori, emilie, kirara, faruzan, kaveh etc are not important to main story so id rather they focus on skins for the roster that acrually plays a big role in quests rather than releasing filler characters
yeah.. making eidolons as a time limited reward makes no sense.. :D if someone start playing just now how would they ever manage to get it ?? 100% positive you have all time you need to get it^^ tomorrow, next week or even years :)
In a way HSR eventho have vast roster, we do have core cast. We've seen march and danheng having 2nd frame already, and i imagine the rest of express will be getting similar thing. Heck even some cast outside express look like will be getting one too lol. So if hoyo never put skins onto the hsr kitchen, at least different forms is the closest thing to that.
It has to do with a Chinese guy who filed a lawsuit against mihoyo for releasing skin on honkai impact 3rd for free after it was only premium content so they decided to not to make any new skins to avoid any future issues and besides a new character or a new outfit ??
My thought was that the outfit from march was a concept art before honkai star rail even came out and maybe they wanted to show the players a little bit how she could have looked
Imo Hoyo ignoring skins on star rail is them implicitly giving the thumbs up to the modders, which is also why we have yet to hear of ANYBODY getting banned for costume mods on there
I believe there's one reason that it might be considered. Hoyo must be seeing the mods of the games are out there, and pretty easy to use (on pc, of course). And even if you can be banned by using them, peple still do use them. Yes, most of them are weird and sexualized, but March's alternate outfit was made into a mod on that same update. And there are some other mods that changes too little of the characters, like a hairstyle, color scheme. And even if most people use the game without the mods, you'd still be paying for something that can be used for free in the pc. Why change the character appearance, when you can spend your money on the banners to get the characters? I like more the idea that some characters from the past getting different paths like March, and with that a new outfit
If you always win the 75% chance: You would need 80 pulls per Light Cone, meaning 16,000 pulls for 200 Light Cones. If you lose 25% of the time: For every 4 pulls, you may lose once, meaning you’d need about 240 pulls (160 + 80) for every two limited Light Cones, or 120 pulls on average per Light Cone. Therefore, to get 200 limited Light Cones, you would need approximately 24,000 pulls on average if you account for losses due to the 75/25 system. Since each pull costs 160 Stellar Jades, you'd need: 24,000 pulls × 160 Stellar Jades per pull = 3,840,000 Stellar Jades With Stellar Jade packs costing roughly $100 USD for 6480 Jades, you'd need about 593 packs, which would amount to around $59,300 USD.
I'm very excited for Sunday release in December, but I am really not a fan of his visual redesign. I wish there was an option to buy his original design and wear it as a skin, especially since it's already in the game.
@@donut1550 i double checked it was a stigmata not a skin but my point still stands. literally just look it up, the hov swimsuit thing was an entirely separarate incident
Not now, they still made enough money to not go to outfit route. Yes, they could do it, but decided "not now", they're still focusing on selling characters.
I feel like they might be holding off on adding skins because apparently all the old characters are gonna get new paths, which will come with new character design, and the new paths are gonna be in the gacha. So it’s like instead of paying for a skin that’s just for visuals, you can get a skin that comes with new effects and play styles and that it’s technically f2p since they come from pulling.
I do hope new paths are a thing for 4* characters that get less love from the meta, even if its just a 'you get a free copy of the new path in the update, but you've gotta pull to get eidelons'. Also, it could increase the chance of a new 4* preservation unit, i NEED a new one thats not trailblazer or vanilla march, and ive got 60 more wishes until i can get gepard off standard banner!
I just realized, what if, its because it failed to monetize properly and because Hoyo set a precedent, they can't go back on it? For 5 star chara outfits, you need to use Genesis crystal. So players who are steady buyers of Welkin, just bought 6 months of Welkin to buy that 5 star outfit. Which means, they don't have to put additional money to restock their Genesis crystal in later months, while their primogems come in everyday. What Hoyo wanted was to get ppl to buy Genesis crystal, on top of spending Welkin. It worked for f2ps who break their wallets to get that outfit, but probably very little number that did that 😅 HI3 works because you need to use real life currency (Ex:USD) directly to purchase the outfits (using B-chips). To pull weapon and chara in HI3, you use Crystals, which is a separate in-game currency.
I hope we get same element different path versions of characters like making aoe ver. of single target characters (like seele or janqing) which can also be made into kit upgrades
You know, if someone gets 100 of the same 5 star light cone on ONE BANNER, I'd say just give one of that light cone out to everyone for free at that point. That is, at a minimum, 16000 stellar jades used, and a maximum of 2560000 stellar jades, which is 159984 USD due to 1600 stellar jades being 99.99 USD. If someone was that dedicated to buying a single light cone, he's done enough for the entire community.
Meanwhile Honkai Impact 3rd every patch ever: Here's a 4* skin which you can get for free after doing the event, a 5* skin which you can get through gacha, a 4* skin which can be purchased using your card; another skin when you purchase battle pass, possibly another 4* skin which you can get simply by pulling on the current gacha banners! The other game's teams are just lazy
Meanwhile HI3RD: Damn, I don't what can I gift in this new event... Yeah, lets gift another skin, that makes sensd. But you know what? I can also add another skin in buying BP, a store of previous skins, a skin as a gift for pulling in the game and a banner of a deluxe skin
I really wish there were more skins, trying to find good mod skins is impossible, as anyone who’s tried certainly knows that actual skins are few and far in between
2.6 will only have one 5 star i wonder if they add gacha skin banner(change their animations, voice lines and character select screen) , only be 5 star skin for older character(idk if they would add this getting dupes change more of the skin animations or just color palette like it does in overwatch 2). maybe would come out with companion missions/short story either for lore reasons or just more screen time for that character. After the skin banner end it would be enter the shop permanently(if they add dupe after the banner ends you just have to buy more copies for that skin). They can even do this for 4 stars it just be outfit changes in the shop
The reason why skins won't become available in HSR or ZZZ is because the scale of exploration is astronomically way more than HSR+ZZZ combined also the style of combat like how HSR is a strategy game and ZZZ is a hack&slash. Realistically it would be more beneficial for hoyo and the player to copy Arknights and the Fate series to make alter characters like what they did with Dan Heng and March 7th in which i will assume they'll do the same with ZZZ but with Genshin the player can more appropriately appreciate the skin and making the player feel like the money was very well spent

Skins are a waste of time to make in this type of game EXCEPT if they make a whole new animation and kit, which is what they will bring, skins BUT along with new kit and animation (battle suit system).

This sounds fair. New characters include mechanics and testing. Skins just need to be burdened with design and effects.

True. Only older 4 star I use is Perla, anyone else gets forgotten, cause they aren’t as useful.
I think Lisa's skin is the only one the really feels "different" because it shifts our perception of her from the librarian we know into a "Akademiya mode."
It would be more interesting to have a character skin that either is far more casual (like Arknight skins) or go against how we usually see them.
A skin that answers the question "what would he look like if he just stayed there?"
Hell, go the Lisa route and give every Akademiya character a skin of their uniforms or how they looked when they were students.
Rather than promoting a character or it being a sign of future plots- a Hoyo skin in Genshin means "this is it- this is the peak of their story!"
And maybe that's not their intention, but it damn well feels that way.
Or a Qiqi build that improves her energy needs and gives her more benefits as a team member (like buffing others.)
And they could try to make them story-relevant. Not just for events. Make it a sign of character growth and development.
...I hate that my rambling is all just a pipe dream. I can't imagine them going that far for older characters when they can just keep adding new ones 😢

My theory is that the process of releasing skins involves dealing with CCP censorship (and perhaps they review the entire game every time they do this) and perhaps is just something that is such as pain in the ass to the point mihoyo releasing few skins

Meanwhile, HI3:
Aaaand now, as of 2.7, the first equipable skin we get will be for PomPom xD Certainly an interesting decision lol.
And also new people will get interested in buying the perma skins in shops becouse theese games are huge they get new players every day
i'm sure they know their earnings and all the data better than random people in youtube
Reading a bunch of the other comments, I’m getting onboard with the idea that HI3 is much more focused on its core cast of characters from both a story and gameplay standpoint. idk how it is in hsr but in genshin, the skins released are incorporated into the story in some way and fits within the lore
@@boredscorpio1989 Yeah but you can have people work on new characters, then have other people work on skins for said characters. You cant tell me an Acheron Skin wouldnt make them hundreds of thousands easy.
If they are limited on resources/people, thats fine. But...its Mihoyo. But maybe there team is small, idk
Don't give me wrong, I love it, it's a great game, but they put all their skins into tears Themis, that's the game I'm talking about.
Ok but when the fate crossover happens I want a shirou skin
I want an Illya skin for Clara
@@danielthompson8451 it fits so perfectly
Video: 4 stars can be given out for free.
Dr Veritas Ratio: through sheer tyranny of will i shall become ubiquitous.
8:01 Thank you, I'm glad to see it wasn't just me who was bothered by that. (I don't care that DHIL is limited, they could've made it work as a Path Change)
ACE ATTORNEY REF IN THE THUMBNAIL
anyways that’s all I clicked the video for
Its either:
Used for a hi3 skin
Or harmony march
Hey, would you mind doing an analysis of the Genshin's new Artifact Transmutter? I've seen so many people complained about it but if you think about it carefully I think it is better than Self Modeling Resin. I would really appreciate your opinion.
It depends on how many you will be able to get per patch.
Right now we can get:
+1 from artifact discard
+1 from anniversary mail
+2 from pyro token exchange
+3 from Tribe exploration
(+1 from battle pass)
Which is Id say a solid amount, but it depends heavily on exploration, meaning that updates that are empty in terms of exploration will have MUCH less of these.
Unless they will figure out something like maybe adding it as rewards in abyss/theater
@@mikonyx7712 just like how you can get Self Modeling Resins in MoC shop, SU and events, I think they will do something similar about it
It's one goblet every six months, or two if you pay to win via battle pass, plus a few more from exploration which won't be available most updates.
I mean tbf it’s not completely a bad thing if this where EA we would allready have 200+ skins for each individual character that you still have to buy but it would be nice if they did an unlock system instead of paid one which I think would work quite nicely for hsr
yeah but Hi3....
Tbh, between having them work on a useless skin or 2/more new characters per patch........ I think I prefer the new characters, its not like the designs are bad to begin with
I prefer on skins becouse after main quests patches end and they release all the important characters and in between them they put some random character that barely did anything in main story
Id rather get a new skin
Characters like chiori, emilie, kirara, faruzan, kaveh etc are not important to main story so id rather they focus on skins for the roster that acrually plays a big role in quests rather than releasing filler characters
I dont think Hoyo hates skins. HI3rd puts out multiple skins every update.
1 day left and still no motivation to get that march hunt lmao
@@Dullification what do you missing? The event is permanent and her eidolons still there
@@LiffeyDVP isn't it saying 1 day left or smth?
@@Dullification its the limited time reward, u can still do the event and get her eidolons later on if u really dont have time to do in this patch
@@LiffeyDVP ok my bad
yeah.. making eidolons as a time limited reward makes no sense..
2:58 sucrose's hair from the geren screen LMFAO
I clicked on this video solely for the Ace Attorney reference in the thumbnail 😭😭
1:08 yeah right hoyo's reluctance on releasing skins, honkai impact 3rd however......
Since each pull costs 160 Stellar Jades, you'd need:
24,000 pulls × 160 Stellar Jades per pull = 3,840,000 Stellar Jades
With Stellar Jade packs costing roughly $100 USD for 6480 Jades, you'd need about 593 packs, which would amount to around $59,300 USD.
I want them to release a skin for Aventurine, the suit from the video where the other Stonehearts vote on what to do with him after Penacony.
I'm very excited for Sunday release in December, but I am really not a fan of his visual redesign. I wish there was an option to buy his original design and wear it as a skin, especially since it's already in the game.
not the boothill 200-cycle in the background lmao
you make him look balanced in ST 😭
Maybe they dont want a repeat of the time this dude tried to assassinate Da Wei over a swimsuit skin...? 😂
it was a bunny stigmata not a swimsuit, and hi3 still releases skins, even multiple, every update
@@sevengnomesinatrenchcoat No, there's no such thing as bunny skins. That was a video. And yeah, it was a swimsuit skin. HoV's swimsuit skin
@@donut1550 i double checked it was a stigmata not a skin but my point still stands. literally just look it up, the hov swimsuit thing was an entirely separarate incident
@@sevengnomesinatrenchcoat But that separate incident is what I was saying 😅
@@sevengnomesinatrenchcoat Is my memory wrong? Lol maybe I'm associating the assassination attempt with that instead
And here we are.. ignoring the OG game HI3... Again
If we talk about true OG, its had to be GGZ
Dear God watching this March 7th gameplay with Boothill I'm so thankful I got Ruan Mei lmao
It's a crime to have aventurine with so many different outfits yet have none as a skin
WELT ARGENTI I CHOKED ON MY WATER HOLY SHET
Ngl I actually use Himeko in HSR, even outta pure fiction. It really comes down to build and supports if she works well outta pure fiction.
I do hope new paths are a thing for 4* characters that get less love from the meta, even if its just a 'you get a free copy of the new path in the update, but you've gotta pull to get eidelons'. Also, it could increase the chance of a new 4* preservation unit, i NEED a new one thats not trailblazer or vanilla march, and ive got 60 more wishes until i can get gepard off standard banner!
and now pompom is getting a skin 😭
Bro i tottaly forgot about the march skin ppl were saying they were gonna asd that to the game and than never did omg i forgot that
hey hsr characters get skins, just in the form of AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CHARACTER…
march, dan heng, tingyun, herta 😭
I just realized, what if, its because it failed to monetize properly and because Hoyo set a precedent, they can't go back on it?
For 5 star chara outfits, you need to use Genesis crystal. So players who are steady buyers of Welkin, just bought 6 months of Welkin to buy that 5 star outfit. Which means, they don't have to put additional money to restock their Genesis crystal in later months, while their primogems come in everyday.
What Hoyo wanted was to get ppl to buy Genesis crystal, on top of spending Welkin. It worked for f2ps who break their wallets to get that outfit, but probably very little number that did that 😅
HI3 works because you need to use real life currency (Ex:USD) directly to purchase the outfits (using B-chips). To pull weapon and chara in HI3, you use Crystals, which is a separate in-game currency.
Bro- I got a star rail ad the moment I click this video-
I hope we get same element different path versions of characters
like making aoe ver. of single target characters (like seele or janqing) which can also be made into kit upgrades
I spent an ungodly amount of money buying Raiden Mei skins, would do it again in HSR (but not that much as that one CN dude...)
I beg just give Stelle a cute outfit!!
Meanwhile Honkai Impact 3rd every patch ever:
Here's a 4* skin which you can get for free after doing the event, a 5* skin which you can get through gacha, a 4* skin which can be purchased using your card; another skin when you purchase battle pass, possibly another 4* skin which you can get simply by pulling on the current gacha banners!
The other game's teams are just lazy
I just want my firefly in a suit like in one of ther trailers
We have a pet system now so they might add a skin system eventually they don’t hate skins
I mean I'd hate it if someone were to skin me.. So that's pretty reasonable I think
7:49 so we are fully embracing the ship now huh?
Maybe in the future we will get the old skin when march get new path like harmony.
The reason why skins won't become available in HSR or ZZZ is because the scale of exploration is astronomically way more than HSR+ZZZ combined also the style of combat like how HSR is a strategy game and ZZZ is a hack&slash. Realistically it would be more beneficial for hoyo and the player to copy Arknights and the Fate series to make alter characters like what they did with Dan Heng and March 7th in which i will assume they'll do the same with ZZZ but with Genshin the player can more appropriately appreciate the skin and making the player feel like the money was very well spent
personally, i am not much bothered by the lack of skins... but the lack of FOUR STARS gets on my nerves lmao like they need to stop pumping out a new 5 star character every patch (i know its for moneygrabs situation) but we rlly need new four star units :(
gallagher and pela keeping the 4 star boat afloat rn
Hi3 can't relate lmao all of the characters have skins expect maybe fischl (asuka got lucky in the eva collab)
