@@sparr-o2465 that's cuz in rebels we have no random rebels for the most part to die as canon fodder. Most of the times the protagonists are fighting and of course they won't die. But remember that a couple of stormtroopers took captain rex out with the stun guns, him and kanan.
Fun fact: The troopers spoke the language using voice-scramblers built into their helmets, allowing them to communicate with each other without anyone being able to decipher what they were saying, as well as enhance their intimidating image.
Yes those of us with ears and hearing were able to work this out on our own.

It was really cool to see how formidable the empire really is. These dudes weren't just cannon fodder, they actually won most of their battles.

I always thought that the worst thing they did to Vader in the movies was to give him the back story of a little brat who went evil because others weren't patting him on the back enough. Death Troopers from Rogue One have been the only group of soldiers in all of Star Wars that felt as though they were really special forces soldiers

@@SkiRacingOz yeah, certainly only speaking towards live action. I always felt that Star Wars has handled combat in live action horrifically. No sense of tactics or training. Just kinda running around with a gun towards enemy fire

Death troopers are great. Between the fact that they're trained elites who are a genuine threat, and that incredibly cool voice scrambler, they have to be one of the coolest units in star wars.

Death Troopers were used pretty good in rogue one, usually any sort of trooper is not done justice in the movies but for the most part these guys were showcased pretty good and not entirely wasted
Well when you are making a movie where everyone has to die, it's the perfect opportunity to put a Trooper so elite and deadly, that not only are all their targets neutralized but they have been given the name "death trooper"

Death Troopers were portrayed well in this film, decimating the rebels SPECFORCES, the most elite of rebel forces, on the Scarif beaches. They only died because Chirrut was being protected by the force and Baze basically had an anti tank blaster with a backpack power cell.
Then in rebels they got clapped by an 18 year old, a traitor and an old guy with a pistol. They were portrayed best in the comics imo.
I hope they make Rebels non-canon it came out in a weird time where they wanted it to be cartoony and pointless because Disney Brand
@@magicman3163 Not really, Rebels by the end was overall solid. World Between Worlds still leaves me in awe and so is the Caleb Dume moment. I guess it's true, not how you start its you finish.

That whole "im one with the force and the force is with me" scene is exactly why the stormtroopers dont ever hit shit. I think even lucas has confirmed the force gives them a little invisible bubble that isnt 100% protective.

Actually the reason (canon) as to why stormtrooper have terrible aim was disgust in the show star wars rebels and it is due to the helmets vision.
@@jakestark2483 for some cases yes, but Lucas himself has said that a lot of the times the overall heroes are stated as being protected by the force. It’s basically canonical plot armor.
@@jakestark2483 The helmets aren't as bad as they say there. The only real disadvantage was field of vision. Otherwise when fully operational the helmets help them a lot in combat. Blaster glare, smoke, some slight night vision, even targeting diagnostics

As perfect as this movie was. I wish that more movies would have the bad guys portrayed as normal people that actually believed in what they were doing was right. Krennic in this scene is an example of over the top evil. Like how he portrays himself, he talks as if he knows his words are bullshit.
The empire was a greater government for the galaxy then the republic ever was. Look how torn the galaxy was with crime and drugs before/between empire. And when they existed. Bad guys hide because they know the empire would kill them
Rogue one was the perfect opportunity to do that because of the themes of the film, too bad they dropped that. Some of the unnamed officers in the film did look relatively “innocent” though, like the guy krennic was screaming at on scarif (also Jyn’s dad in the past)
I mean, that’s the Empire as whole, super over the top evil everywhere you go. The foot soldiers have skull-like helmets, the officers wear suspicious looking slate grey uniforms, and the leader is an authoritarian tyrant who killed his master in his sleep.

That's because he *does* know that his words are bullshit.
Krennic is a guy from a poor background who clawed his way up the Imperial ranks despite not fitting in with the posh Imperial officer corps. He's in this to gain respect and power for himself, not for any grand ideological reasons. So whenever he tells somebody the "official" line, whenever he puts on the "Imperial officer" act, it's tinged with irony.
Rogue one's cinematography has a serious tone in it. I love it so much

Love how Krennic sits besides the Death troopers like if they were equals. Definitely Krennic was a badass always getting his hands dirty and participating in battles and he almost killed Andor!!! He was far more respectable, competent and intelligent than Tarkin.

There's a channel which ranks imperial. Tarkin is on their incompetent imperial list with people like pryce, Aresko, Grint, and ozzel while krennic is a competent imperial like thrawn, Sloane, versio and veers.

Its interesting how even though you would think Krennic is just some armchair officer who isn't cut out for any meaningful combat assignment, when attacks popped up around him he was really quick to take charge and get defenses going.

The mandalorian is cool
Not even a big Star Wars enthusiast but I loved Rogue One as a stand-alone movie. Legit the first Star Wars flick I’ve seen that actually FELT LIKE AN ACTUAL WAR MOVIE. Refreshing to see combatants on par with each other without the presence of unstoppable Demi-gods running around with OP lightsabers tearing through defensive lines (well until the last minute or so lol).

In the books, they are ruthless and effective. In one of the Thrawn books, there's a death trooper who's in disguise and is cunning as hell.

Would be nice if they could do something more impressive than shooting fleeing targets in the back or lasting a full ten seconds against the protagonist. Have a moment where the heroes ambush a convoy, include a Mandalorian or two even, stormtroopers cut down like wheat, yet another overwhelming victory what’s left of the Empire is clearly no threat, if it ever was. When suddenly, BOOM! A Death Trooper manages to turn the tide and take out the attackers, single precision shots, make the audience go “Holy crap! Where was THIS the past ten years?” I’m basically describing the Bullseye debut moment from Daredevil Season 3, but seriously, if Star Wars is going to go the distance of making a brand new trooper they should get to be considered an actual threat.
If Disney is in charge no such thing would EVER happen.

They had to die, otherwise it would have created problems for the original trilogy! The fact that all the protagonists die is one of the things that makes Rogue One so unique and great.
The opening to Rogue One is one of my favourite moments in film. Rogue One is not a perfect movie but so many aspects of the filmmaking fit my personal preferences perfecty.

Rogue One is the best star wars media from the Disney era. Really, truly believe that. Even if a large swath of the characters are a bit forgettable to me personally (its hard for me to be interested when these normal human characters are in the same universe as giant aliens, space wizards, and complex villains). Gareth Edwards did a fantastic job.

@@savethebees275 That's actually one of my favourite parts of Rogue One; when most of the franchise revolves around space wizards and super villians, having a story revolve around normal meatbags is beyond refreshing, especially when it's set in stone than they're not as powerful as the Jedi yet they have to perform as much as one.
I really like the Death Trooper. But I kinda wished they showed stormtroopers hitting more often or atleast taking cover and not bunching up so much.
If I remember correctly, I saw stormtroopers hit their targets correctly in this movie too

Obi Wan almost discovered the plans for the deathstar on Geonoisis, you can see the plans being discussed in the prequel trilogy

The ones in the Mandalorian were Dark Troopers, not Death Troopers. Also, the only reason they went down so easily was because Luke was destroying them, when Mando was trying to fight one it took all he had just to defeat that one.

What makes the Death Troopers scary is that compare to Storm Troopers that were used to flush out their enemies into traps or targets, Death Troopers were used for lethal countermeasures under orders.
Star wars has a problem where it builds up villains / scary special forces only for them to fall absolutely pathetically

Death Troopers and Dark Troopers are entirely different. The Death Troopers are what are seen here. Dark Troopers are what are seen in the Mandalorian. If it was a 1v1 battle between the two types, the Dark Trooper would win 10/10 times.

Deathstar Technician: "Frankly I don't understand how such important information could have been omitted by loyal Imperial subjects. It's almost like the documentation was sabotaged before submission."

I think the death troopers were made to fight powerful enemies that arent jedi or even the rebels at all. It's possible they were sent fight the criminal underworld of the galaxy like syndicates, cartels, pirates, gangs and possibly even opposing dark side cults especially those who are lesser sith or pseudo sith like the knights of Ren for example. My best guess they were train to fight off mandalorians should they join the rebels for their cause. This is just thought, much like the inquisitors were trained to become jedi hunters exclusively. I think the empire has very specific measures against any and all threats, say like the death star was made to scare the yuzhon vong away from the galaxy.
I wish all storm troopers were scary like death troopers.

When you upgrade your Storm Trooper by giving them a nice armor set, more height and little more time in at the range. Would rather have Shadow Troopers tbh.

There was a real world weapon prototype not to different from SW "blasters". It was called the HIPGD, a plasma gun and it was last heard of in 2001 before being classified. Far more horrific than you'd think. That thing obliterated whatever it hit through a combination of kinetic and thermal energy, but the worst part is that if you survived the hit, the plasmoids released a large amount of hard x-ray radiation at the point of impact. So you might survive the initial trauma only to die from radiation poisoning later. I think the blasters in SW are much nastier than people think. We see people getting dropped by one or two hits despite there not being much visible trauma, but high doses of ionizing radiation effect human neurology and can be incapacitating
