Or perhaps the person who issued the order to the clones(note: anyone can issue that order) would not be treated as an enemy. Anakin issued the order to the 501st, that’s why they don’t attack him.
Surely this was someone's very first encounter with Order 66. Completely fresh-faced, never having seen the old movies, no possible way of predicting what was about to happen, utterly oblivious to every hint. Must've been an insane experience.
7:05 I like how that one clone trooper just waited next to Master Tapal till the door opens and after that he just walked with his weapon and didn't shoot even once.
They should do a short hour and a half thriller that starts as Order 66 commences. There’s so much they could do with that moment and so many perspectives to explore I’d love to see that
Yeah a game with a Jedi Storyline about a newly christened Knight and his master a human woman taking on the separatists forces, with what this game has shown it would be INCREDIBLE. I think the main character should be an alien, i'm thinking Cerean like Ki Adi Mundi but with a green lightsaber and clearly younger. I would also want to play on some of less featured Clone War's planets especially Mygeeto in addition to Saleucami and new worlds we haven't seen.
@@louiswoodward8937 I blame EVERYONE after that whole thing with Syfo-dyas. By the time the show got to that arc, they should have had more than enough information to figure out what was going on, if they'd spent 2 seconds actually thinking about any of it.
It was Anakin's fault and the Jedi Council's fault. Fives said he knew of a separatist plot against the Jedi, but Anakin thought he was mad and didn't believe him (unlike Rex) and never bothered to tell anyone. Then Kenobi and Anakin found out Dooku built the clone army and told the council who decided to cover it up. If Anakin had listened to Fives then things would have been a lot different.
This is an intense leason to learn. Major props to Cameron Monaghan. He voice act a believable young Cal voice while also putting a lot of heart and soul into these emotional scenes. Great actor and amazing writers. Travis also was amazing as Cal's master
Those clone interactions are just perfect. Especially the high five and the comander laughing at Cals comment. It's sad that Cal lost both his friends and his master in one moment and didn't even know the reason the clones attacked.
"as soon as order 66 is ordered all of the clones started aiming like stormtroopers!" well... did you take into consideration that maybe, maybe, that was them doing their best to fight off their programming, and to not actually kill their friends?
I know the Jedi are able to make enemies disoriented and lose aim. This might be whats happening since when the clones shoot at the kid, they have closer shots, but when they shoot at the master, their aim begins to falter. Also they have plot armor.
Honestly this really did show how the clones could be incredibly connected with the Jedi and their Younglings. I wonder how clones reacted after the order was done
Most of them had PTSD or a sense of eternal regret. However, most of them could not control themselves during Order 66, which meant that while they were hunting down their friends, all they could do was watch and sit back inside their heads.
3:30: the sound of blasters could mean they wasn´t the only jedi aboard the ship...so the clones killed the others in different sectors of the ship. That makes this whole scene more scary, because that means Kal Kestis was the only jedi survivor in the whole ship.
I doubt there were more. We see in season 7 of TCW the clones also shot the droid assigned to the Jedi themselves, so they probably just destroyed their astromechs.
@@justsomeponywithamustache8731 no it didnt. While the physical suggestion was strong. In the comics many of the clones not only remember.. but question the things they did to people they served all their lives. Sometimes loved. The chip doesnt wipe memories though I think it has the possibility to do so. Order 66 was more of a program. The clones were forced to run it having been given the order.
Ryan White No it just forced them to uphold Order 66, above all else. Commander Bly and his troops felt horrible when they had to kill Aayla Secura so they shot her corpse so many times when she was down was because they wanted her death to be quick so she wouldn’t suffer.
Well if the leaks are to be believed then Rey is the granddaughter of Palpatine or even his daughter which would explain her ability to use the force with no training at all. In the end according to Yoda in ESB literally anyone who's force sensitive can use the force when he believes in it. He says to Luke that there is no difference between lifting a rock and a space ship. Jedi get usually trained from a young age to sharpen their mind and to teach them to focus that's why they don't want to train grown ups because their mind is poisoned by things the jedi avoid. That doesn't mean that a grown up can't concentrate on a thing he believes in in which case we come to Rey. Hell Luke had no training at all and he deflected blasters with closed eyes, destroyed the freakin death star and used the force pull in the beginning of ESB. All Rey did was manipulating a weak minded in her third try, lifting some rocks and dedlected Kylo Rens lightsaber with reflexes. And lifted some rock which takes us to Yodas conclusion. Also again deflecting Kylo Rens lightsaber with reflexes is part of the force..like Anakin used the force for reflexes during Pod racing altho he had never force training. There you go all you need to know about how the force works to stop complaining about how they portray Rey in the movies (which is a faithful portrayal of a force sensitive person) no matter her being aware of it shorly before that or not. She states that she always felt something so there's that.
The scene where they’re pinned down at the escape pod is masterfully done. When Tapal is getting shot at and Cal hides behind him, he looks at his padawan and knows that he must sacrifice himself to save Cal. Very well done
I actually really like how you get to interact with the clones and how nice they are to cal it makes the order 66 betrayal so much more tragic when they turn on you
It's so heart breaking to see the clones treating Jedi like their friends and giving encourage ment to young Jedi and then instantly turning on them because of some chip
How do you think the Grand Army troopers felt? Given upwards of 130 contingency orders covering everything from a removing a rogue chancellor, to dissolved senate, to eliminating the whole Jedi command. Nobody ever thought they’d be issued, but they all memorized them. The Jedi Council knew the orders, too, as did the generals and commanders, but they were just contingencies. Some of the troopers liked their Jedi leaders, and some didn’t, but a battlefield is the best place to find out who someone is. They formed bonds and loyalties, and more than a few troopers ignored Order 66, turned their backs to allow their general to escape. Others deserted the GAR to find lives and families, which is why I don’t buy the inhibitor chip osik.
Some context & explanation, for those who may be less fluent in Star Wars lore, yet found their way here... ;) *[version 2.0! Now with more Canon and soluble fiber!]* 1. *How could the Clones turn on the Jedi so easily? ~* The following is a combined paraphrase, from *Canon* (no Legends) information from Wookieepedia entries on Clone Troopers, Control Chips, Order 66, and The Great Jedi Purge... _"Clone Protocol 66 was built into the Clone Troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic during the cloning process that created them. All clones were implanted with a cranial bio-chip, one that could be activated by remote signal or by voice command (as given by Sheev Palpatine). The bio-chip, when activated, would enforce total obedience in a clone, erasing all existing biases and beliefs, and overriding any emotional ties or bonds. The order (66) would also cause the clones to view the Jedi as a dangerous threat that needed to be eliminated at all costs."_ So while the activation of the bio-chips may not have been a _"hard reset"_ of the Clone Troopers, it did diminish them in mental (& thus also physical) capacity; it was still brain tampering, after all (remember: Clone Trooper Tup *_>died
Toppal really sucks as a Master if Ahsoka, a padawan who left the order, is capable of taking on twice as many Clones with almost no knowledge of why they betrayed her.
@@nathanevans1382 You realize that the only reason Ahsoka survived was because Rex hesitated? The two clones behind her would’ve shot her in the back. Besides, Ahsoka’s agility and lightsaber form for sure helped her as well.
@@nathanevans1382 its not that Tapal sucks. But Cal sucks. Watch the last scene in front of the escape pod. If Cal does not hesitate and was not afraid, Tapal will still be alive. That's why Cal have survivors guilt. Because deep down he knows he is the reason his master died.
Everyone who doesn't get this reference isn't a true Star Wars fan lol. In Episode II Attack of the Clones, Jango says this line the exact same way to Obi-Wan Kenobi on Kamino. The exact line goes as such: Obi-Wan: *"Ever made your way as far as the interior of Coruscant?"* Jango Fett: *"Once or twice."* Obi-Wan: *"Recently?"* Jango Fett: *"...... Possibly..."*
What is particularly heart-wrenching for me, and what I'd like us all to remember, is that this is happening to A CHILD. Think of what Cal has to be thinking during this. "Why is this happening? Why are my friends trying to kill me? Did I do something wrong? Is this my fault? Where am I supposed to go? What do I do now?" And then his Jedi Master, his surrogate father, dies in his arms. Order 66 may perhaps be the darkest moment in Star Wars history.
Imagine feeling like thousands of your companions with whom you have grown, lived and fought side by side for years are suddenly being killed all at once, without being able to understand why and without being able to do anything. Your friends are being executed millions of miles away and there's nothing you can do, The soldiers that you have trusted your life for years and that you saw as friends are now trying to kill you, suddenly a whole galaxy is against you, and besides, not only do you have to protect yourself in this situation, but you have with you a child that you adopted as an apprentice and swore to guide and protect.. My head would hurt too if I were in that situation.
Yes. Correct. The Jedi and the clones had different relationships in both Legends and Canon. Canon clones and Legends clones have different paths in their lives, too. In both continuities, the Jedi Order starts out feeling uncomfortable with the blind obedience in the clones. The thing is, they take different approaches to this issue. In Legends, most Jedi keep a professional relationship with the clones, which does nothing to counter the dislike the clones have to the Jedi for being too peaceful. In this case, it makes sense for the clones to unhesitatingly follow Order 66 because in a way there is no choice other than the state. They are conscious of what they're doing, but with the exception of Arc-troopers and Clone Commandos, what reason do Legends Clones have to betray the state they swore loyalty to for leaders they don't like? In Canon, the Jedi instead try to influence the clones. They teach them to be more human and more independent thinkers. They have close friendships with them. The Jedi and Clones become comrades. Now, would some Canon Clones still carry out Order 66 by their free will? Yes. Just look at Dogma and Crosshair before they realize their mistakes. However, wouldn't most Canon Clones hesitate to kill their Jedi leaders before following orders, thus alerting the Jedi? I mean, the clones were even reluctant to execute Pong Krell, an actual traitor who hated clones. Dogma had to do it and felt like he needed to justify himself right afterwards.
@@commanderclay1235 I too would want Temuera back too. Something they did during the Legends Clone Wars multimedia project was have Temuera only voice a handful of clones, while they brought in others to voice other troopers, bringing their own stuff to the table. That's what I would want happening hear, having the role distributed between Temuera and DB Baker. That would be sooooooo cooooooolll....
I really wish the master didn’t die or at least stayed alive a bit longer. It was insanely obvious that he was going to die protecting the boy while escaping. It think it would have been way better if they both survived and then master dies a little later in the story. I honestly found the master more interesting that the boy.
Narratively speaking, even tho Jedi don’t make attachments or whatever, Master Tapal was as close as a father figure as he could be, so it is extremely sad and tragic that he lost his life saving his apprentice (or son if you want to see it that way)
@drew penizotto the clones were "good guys" and they still were even when they attacked. It was't their fault this happened because they had chips in their brain that gave them no choice and forced them to do this. Just wanted to let you know.
George or Palpatine whether he intended it or not, is sick for having the Jedi use Clones as their army where they would grow bonds and hold trust in for four years while the Clone Wars raged in, while slowly being accustomed to stupid aimless battle droids with no connection to the force, essentially being their one weakness since they couldn’t anticipate through the force what a droid would too, so Palpatine executing Order 66 is like your friend being pals with you for years and suddenly out of nowhere, there’s a knife in your back. You’d never see it coming. Genius.
The fact that they used Anakins Betrayal and then transitioned into Anakin Dark Deeds made this even more amazing and heartbreaking! I lost my shit during this scene! What a wonderful experience, it’s tough watching order 66, but playing thru it and experiencing the confusion and horror with Cal was unmatched! Can’t wait for the sequel!
Came here after that episode in Clone Wars so that I can wreck my heart even more. Watching the clones bond with Cal really hits different, knowing that the chips will force them to turn on the Jedi they respected. I am hurting in this Chili's tonight.
there were a small number of clones that DID disobey the order. so while its definitely something most of the rank and fodder clones executed without much hesitation, there were a few who...well...flat out disobeyed the order. there were some clones that spared padawans/learners but killed all the masters/knights (cuz they werent technically jedi at that point, who knows) there were clones who were injured/off the lines or deserters who simply never actually heard the orders, and thus never executed the order. there were some who probably *tried* to fight it because their jedi generals were much more..equal to them (such as anakin, who considered the 501st like his actual brothers, even if he was a jedi i dont think the 501st would have tried to kill anakin, or at least would have told him to get the fuck out of dodge) what you also have to realize though, for as many good clone relationships as we've seen with jedi, there are no small number of jedi who probably thought of the clones as...well. clones. replacable. the army. tools of the republic. there was a few episodes where we saw jedi who definitely didnt treat them with much respect, or without any compassion, so i doubt those clones would have really had many reservations. also think that it really helps enforce the perspective MOST jedi had during order 66, that they did feel a disturbance in the force if they were...attuned enough (jaro had the same reaction as yoda and ahsoka..they felt all the lives diminishing in the force, but its clear not every jedi did, such as mundi or aayla secura, who literally just got shot in the back without much inclination or realization until it was WAY too late)
Order 66 is so TWISTED. The clones literally get controlled by Sidious to kill the heroes they admired, including children... But, it's awesome Tapai has the same rare type of lightsaber as Darth Maul!
The Once and Future Jake ...Except the exact music from Revenge of the Sith’s order 66 scene is playing the whole time you’re escaping... I liked it because it kinda let us imagine who’s dying when in the movie. I remember running through the halls and when I heard the music I was like “hmm Plo Koon just died :(“
I think this is a pretty damn good version of Order 66. Cal talking with the clones and them being so kind, and with the words "Execute Order 66", without a choice they just betray them. I knew it was coming and still, I felt betrayed. When you also put yourself in the shoes of a little boy, these are some really cool guys he's sparred with, talked with, and now they're out to kill him.
Every depiction of Order 66 is so intense - Cal and Jaro fighting their way off their Venator, only alive to have a chance thanks to master Tapal’s instincts, Ahsoka unbrainwashing Rex and having to free Maul, the Bad Batch being confused as to why the other clones suddenly turned on Caleb/Kanan and his master before chasing him into the forest, and of course Revenge of the Sith showing the broader impact and Anakin’s massacre of the Jedi in the temple on Coruscant, every single time it’s so tense lol
@@Holidaypunch1 It lowkey kinda looks like he is. Either that, or he took his chip out and in an attempt to aid his jedi general in his escape, forgot to mention he wasn't issued the order and was killed for it
He could be trying to fight off the chip. At least I hope so. I think that's why most of them either hesitated or didn't fire. Clone troopers were way better at aiming than stormtroopers so for them to miss that much, they had to be doing something
@@stoutyyyy The chip makes more sense. I don't buy that the Clones would simply turn on their Jedi allies and friends just because the Chancellor told them to. We know from Clone Wars that they don't just follow orders without question, they aren't droids.

Rey needs a proper teacher
@@3sikesimdead946 That's what luke should have been 🤦♂️
Well if the leaks are to be believed then Rey is the granddaughter of Palpatine or even his daughter which would explain her ability to use the force with no training at all.

Now with more Canon and soluble fiber!]*
The order (66) would also cause the clones to view the Jedi as a dangerous threat that needed to be eliminated at all costs."_
So while the activation of the bio-chips may not have been a _"hard reset"_ of the Clone Troopers, it did diminish them in mental (& thus also physical) capacity; it was still brain tampering, after all (remember: Clone Trooper Tup *_>died

@@KaptainOW She still did better than Toppal, he somehow figured out the Clones betrayed them as well, and he still died.

Obi-Wan: *"Ever made your way as far as the interior of Coruscant?"*
Jango Fett: *"Once or twice."*
Obi-Wan: *"Recently?"*
Jango Fett: *"...... Possibly..."*
@Crimson Black he is actually right, it's an obvious reference. No one should have miss it
What is particularly heart-wrenching for me, and what I'd like us all to remember, is that this is happening to A CHILD.
Think of what Cal has to be thinking during this. "Why is this happening? Why are my friends trying to kill me? Did I do something wrong? Is this my fault? Where am I supposed to go? What do I do now?"
And then his Jedi Master, his surrogate father, dies in his arms. Order 66 may perhaps be the darkest moment in Star Wars history.
And cal was one of the few survivors, how many other children would of died?
Imagine feeling like thousands of your companions with whom you have grown, lived and fought side by side for years are suddenly being killed all at once, without being able to understand why and without being able to do anything. Your friends are being executed millions of miles away and there's nothing you can do, The soldiers that you have trusted your life for years and that you saw as friends are now trying to kill you, suddenly a whole galaxy is against you, and besides, not only do you have to protect yourself in this situation, but you have with you a child that you adopted as an apprentice and swore to guide and protect.. My head would hurt too if I were in that situation.
Such is the fate of traitors to the republic.
Yes.
I know it was a given going into this scene, but it's still so good to hear Dee Bradley Baker as the Clones once again.

Came here after that episode in Clone Wars so that I can wreck my heart even more. Watching the clones bond with Cal really hits different, knowing that the chips will force them to turn on the Jedi they respected. I am hurting in this Chili's tonight.
there were a small number of clones that DID disobey the order. so while its definitely something most of the rank and fodder clones executed without much hesitation, there were a few who...well...flat out disobeyed the order. there were some clones that spared padawans/learners but killed all the masters/knights (cuz they werent technically jedi at that point, who knows) there were clones who were injured/off the lines or deserters who simply never actually heard the orders, and thus never executed the order. there were some who probably *tried* to fight it because their jedi generals were much more..equal to them (such as anakin, who considered the 501st like his actual brothers, even if he was a jedi i dont think the 501st would have tried to kill anakin, or at least would have told him to get the fuck out of dodge)
what you also have to realize though, for as many good clone relationships as we've seen with jedi, there are no small number of jedi who probably thought of the clones as...well. clones. replacable. the army. tools of the republic. there was a few episodes where we saw jedi who definitely didnt treat them with much respect, or without any compassion, so i doubt those clones would have really had many reservations.
also think that it really helps enforce the perspective MOST jedi had during order 66, that they did feel a disturbance in the force if they were...attuned enough (jaro had the same reaction as yoda and ahsoka..they felt all the lives diminishing in the force, but its clear not every jedi did, such as mundi or aayla secura, who literally just got shot in the back without much inclination or realization until it was WAY too late)

Force push is always a great move to avoid being shot to death by a group standing in a cluster.
After watching the clone wars and getting to know Rex,Domino squad and the rest of the clones made order 66 so much worse.
Rex didn’t turn.
And then they ruined it by adding the chip arc.
Yea rex listened to fives before fives died and got 4 other clones to remove their chips aswell as himself
@@stoutyyyy The chip makes more sense. I don't buy that the Clones would simply turn on their Jedi allies and friends just because the Chancellor told them to. We know from Clone Wars that they don't just follow orders without question, they aren't droids.
Yeah I know Rex didn't turn I was bringing up the clones that came to mind and I was never that interested in rebels that much.
