Cinematically, rogue one is one of the best Star Wars movies, the beginning is probably my favorite over any. Krennic walking in an open field escorted by his death troopers!!!

His death is one of the most symbolic in all of the movies. Just showing how regardless of your rank, they are willing to sacrifice you if it meets their goals, thus, operation cinder (especially) ect.
i think in the book he also has a moment just before he dies where he's like "actually wait these bitches stole my plans and there is a weakness in them HAHAHHA TAKE THAT TARKIN BITCH"
This guy is one of the only competent Imperial officers ever shown onscreen. His fatal flaw was that he wasn’t a politician and constantly got outmaneuvered by Tarkin, but the grand moff got his when he got embarrassed by a tiny Rebel strike force over Yavin 4. I bet Krennic was laughing in the afterlife when he saw what became of his old rival.
Tarkin saw him as a rival and out maneuvered him by trying to take credit for the Death Star and later used the opportunity to kill him so he can command it.
I may be remembering this incorrectly, but I think canonically his final thoughts were him realizing the flaw and realizing tarkin would eventually fail
I love how Ben Mendelsohn just leaned into his natural Australian accent instead of succumbing to the urge to play him with a British or American accent. So many Australian and Kiwi actors unnecessarily shake off the Aus/NZ accent unless a role specifically calls for it and it's a shame.

Unlike most other Imperial officers we see, this guy is actually competent and will personally act in emergencies. He showed no hesitation in going to the data vault when he found out that intruders had infiltrated it and he successfully managed the Death Star project. Krennic is such an underrated character in Star Wars. Though I think we can say that for pretty much most of the characters from Rogue One & Andor

@@LordVader1094 yeah well Tarkin is a perfect example of having vast resources and power, but using it for either trivial things or simply to show you have them. Tarkin micromanaged so many different Imperial operations to the point that the people who are actually supposed to be in charge often being lazy or incompetent is almost justified since Tarkin actively chose to do their jobs for them, or at least the hard parts. He was in charge of a massive portion of the Galaxy and oversaw numerous imperial projects, but he dedicated his time to hunting small rebel cells (like he did in Season 1 of Rebels) and making displays of power (like he does in literally everything) instead of improving the Empire as a whole. He is VERY competent when it comes to getting things done, but he is laughably incompetent when it comes to what he decides to do. He usurped Krennic’s position purely as a political stunt when Krennic was (likely more than) half the reason the Death Star project even worked. He then destroyed an entire Imperial base containing thousands of their own troops and a very important data storage facility (we know they were there for the Death Star plans, but who knows what else may have been destroyed?) all to annihilate a measly few rebels who likely would have been captured or killed by the troops (thus also costing him the opportunity to interrogate them for information on their mission and the plans), or what was likely the true motivation, to eliminate his political rival, who also happened to know the weakness of their superweapon. Then, when the attack on the Death Star came, he refused to scramble fighters because he arrogantly believed the station was invincible (and also likely to demonstrate its capacity for self-defense, as if the Emperor wasn’t already fully on board with the project). Again, he’s very good at doing things, but he sucks at deciding what he needs to do.

In my opinion this is the best film Disney’s made for the franchise. Krennick, Cassian and the better portrayal of the rebellion’s inner workings are done exquisitely. As well as the struggle of undertaking even the simplest of missions. They manage to make you feel every emotion under the sun, while setting up the dominance of the Death Star in episode I, introducing the military side of the conflict as separate from the Skywalker saga, and reminding the viewer that the galaxy is a massive place, with so much to lose.
More like one of the worst ones. -Yeah, let's just abandon the one guy, who can vouch for Jyn. -Yeah, you can just push star destroyers into each other, with the use of very small ships. -Oh, so Deathstar 1 weakness was sabotage? Cool, so why didn't they fix it on the second one? -Yeah, let's give Darth Vader a cool hallway scene, wherin he uses the force. But have him ignore the deathstar plans, for some reason. -Yeah, let's just make Tarkin out to be a petty bully, and not a cool and calculated villian, as we see in episode 4. Tarkin is essentially the high school bully, who steal your who homework and pass it off as his one.
I agree with those points completely. Rogue One truly felt like an integral prequel to the original Star Wars trilogy, because of the stakes, Krennic being a great villain, more exposition provided regarding the Death Star and the Rebellion… And how vital the members of Rogue One were to the overall canon. If it hadn’t been for the sacrifices of Jyn Erso and everyone else, the Rebellion may never have triumphed over the Empire. And Rogue One’s ending ties in beautifully to the start of A New Hope as well. It’s utterly masterful. 🙂

And also the Empire wouldn't have had such a big shock moment by the destruction of the DS1, which not only questioned it's competence, but also fueled rebell movements, while killing many competent officers, soldiers and work force.
@@junior523 The first time Hux appears he is good, and when he is working alongside Ade Edmonson on the bridge, two great faces doing a good job. It's how his character is treated by other characters and the writer that lets him down, Domhnall Gleeson plays him excellently, especially when you read about his character's backstory as being abused all the way through his life leading to him executing someone for it. Gleeson really plays the spite and 'snivellyness' into his character, the look he gives his superiors like he is jealously plotting to replace them, loyal out of spite like how Snoke compares him to a beaten down dog. He's like an arrogant angry version of his Judge Dredd character, still thrown about by his superiors, but a lot stronger himself. I have only watched the first two sequels, after that I frankly lost interest, but what I have heard from others is more often than not his character is considered as a joke by the final film...
