I was lucky enough to be at this game. Best game in any sport I have ever been to.
Rik Smits love that pump fake move. Lol
Me too! I was working at my first job in Detroit after college and a buddy got us all tickets from his dad for the 500. The next day he said "lets go check out the scene around Market Square - big playoff game and it will be fun. We will drive home from there" We went, and he ran into a friend who scalped tickets. Game started and same friend found him and gave them to us for $20. Nosebleeds, but right in the middle of the court. Absolutely STUNNING finish to see live, and the ebbs and flows of emotion were palpable.
I was there too! It was the best game I’ve ever been to.
I watched it on TV.
@@ncwaterdaddy Funny thing is I lived in Northern Indiana at the time and now I love an hour from Detroit. :)
Look at all those people actually watching the game rather than taking selfies and checking their Facebook updates.
Harry Callahan That's because the crack babies were still little in 95. Now, their goofy-stupid asses are all grown up.
the greatest 20 seconds in history of the NBA in the regular season or the playoffs
Damn! It’s 2020 and I remember all these pacer playoff moments! Miss that team from the 90’s soo much. MSA was one of the loudest arenas around.
I was lucky enough to be AT this game... about 10 rows up behind the basket the Pacers were shooting at in the 2nd half and behind 4 Orlando fans. The ebb and flow of emotions over those last 4 clutch shots was just incredible.
BEST GAME EVER! I was lucky enough to be there that night. It was amazing! The crowd cheered for at least 30 minutes after the team left the court. No one could believe it! I only wish I could hear Slick Leonard call it. BOOM BABY!
A bunch of friends and I were watching the game at home. We were absolutely floored those final minutes. Classic
still remember this, best memorial day game ever!
1998 Bulls Pacers says Hey
The greatest ending to any basketball game I've ever seen in my life.
I remember watching it too live from Canada. It was incredible! I couldn't believe there were some people in this world who hadnt witnessed what just happened at the time.
I will never forget this game. Love Reggie and this was a classic series, even though the team I wanted didn't end up advancing.
This whole series is criminally underrated.
One of the greatest and most exhilarating games in NBA history!! Thank you for posting this!
One of the more underrated Playoff games in recent memory
Used to love the Pacers they were a great TEAM in the 80s and 90s. I wish they would of one one championship.
@ navycmchief - *Won
I would argue that this is the greatest 80 seconds of game time in the history of basketball. 🏀🏀🏀 🏀
1995 BEST PLAYOFFS EVER
roberto mattei Agree
Minus the finals. Lol
Hard to argue. Very compelling. Last time MJ lost with the Bulls.
I was proud to watch it then the time.....I'm Dutch and we were following The Pacers over here in Holland....Grat upload! It could go either way for 4, 5 times in this match!
The Smits shot at the end is so close but he did get it off in time by literally the hair on his chiny chin chin... the best angle is the second replay... if you slow it down it is still on his finger tip at 00.1 but if you stop it right as the light comes on... it's out... great game though... I'm a Celtics fan... but I was a big Shaq fan when I was younger... So I watched this game... and I thought that Orlando had the game won on Penny's 3... greatest exchange of clutch shots PERIOD!
This was a Memorial day thriller. 4 lead changes in 28 seconds. Brian Shaw 3-pointer.
Reggie Miller 3-pointer. Penny Hardaway 3-pointer. Then Rik Smiths faked out Tree Rollins to hit the game winning jumper as timed expired. Smiths got it off just barely with 0:01 of a second.
Eric Wicker it was actually on the Sunday before Memorial Day, 1995
This was the best Shaq ever when he was playing at Orlando. He was fast and awesome at center.
Market Square Arena was such a great place for basketball. Pacers miss that true home court advantage.
the 90's is my favorite decade for basketball... even with Jordan away for 2 years the competitive level and teams were still tough
I remember this game like today! what a game! and what amazing NBA era!
And some people have the nerve to say that players today are better than players of the 80's and 90's. smh...
That is a damn lie!
Gnev Gnok they stupid
Pay no attention to pple who say that
Yes players today are all better than your years '80s '90s. Centers can shoot 3s.
Listened to this one on the radio. Can still hear Mark Boyle screaming "He hit! He hit! He hit!" Goosebumps!
He fell for the up and under...they told him not to and he did it anyway...I was at that game...it was awesome.
One of the games that hooked me on NBA basketball.
Shaq had to matchup with Hakeem Olajuwon in the finals of this seaaon, he's matched up with Dikembe Mutumbo in the Finals, and has gone head to head many times with David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, and Alonzo Mourning. Having matched up with all of them, he has said on many occasions his least favorite player he had to go head to head with was Rik Smits.
That's intresting, I can only think that Hakeem, Robinson, Mutombo, we're to thin to make Shaq feel like he couldn't do what he wanted. (Whether he actually did or not) Ewing was big But Rick Smits was bigger and versatile opposed to a George Murosan(?) Rick Smith was really big both height and weight and versatile. So I guess I could make sense in that regard.
daego 60707 Mourning could of played P.F. in so he's not stopping Shaq
I thought it was interesting too but he said it was because Smits was so heavy and so skilled. He also said when he would throw an elbow, it would get him offensive fouls because when he gets low, he's eye level with Shaq in that situation. Shaq did say Hakeem he was the only guy to emberass him and the only guy he couldn't figure out or intimidate but I guess you can say Smits frusterated him the most.
Mourning was so strong though, he could challenge him. And in Shaqs case, he said shorter players, with the exception of smits, were tougher for him because of their center of gravity. Mourning Maybe should have been power forward then, but he would absolutely be center today
Matt Campbell yea he said he couldn't get in Hakeem's head "good shot bog guy, BUT the right move would have been to the middle!" Fucked Shaq's head up!
classic game..definitely one of the top moments in pacers history
WHAT AN EPIC FINISH! GO MAGIC!
Rik Smits, our true basketball hero!!
Book of Basketball pod brought me here. Unreal ending
What a spectacular finish!
A tremendous finish, I remember watching it when it first aired on NBC thinking then as I did now watching it again here, that if Shaq hadn't fouled out this never would have happened.
Him and Grant both had fouled out.
Market Square Arena was a different atmosphere, especially come playoff time
I don't remember this when it happened, but that reaction by Shaw and Shaq......
Damn, haven't seen this ending since I was a fifth grader. MEMORIES
28 years ago today. "An amazing finish...Marv said that prematurely. Rik Smits hadn't yet hit the game winning shot at the buzzer.
remember this like yesterday..big Rik Smits!
I know the woman wearing gold at 2:33. She worked at Butler University when I was a student there.
I lucked out, I caught the tail end of this game when there were 3 clutch shots in a row.
This was a fun series.
Damn, I miss those Pacers jerseys.
Dutch in the clutch
Rik Smits man underrated for sure
I'm sure you can find Larry Johnson's 4 point play all over the place from the 99 ECF :).
Just playing man. Knicks/Pacers was a nAWESOME rivalry. As a knicks fan I HATED Reggie Miller, but I loved him at the same time.
@ 3:00 the indy 500-esque sprint to the finish where lead changes in back-to-back-to-back poss
love it I teared up so much during those Larry Brown years like most of MSA did peace
Woahhhhhhhhh that last minute! 🔥 Hahaha that was fucking awesome Rik Smits looks so happy after hitting that shot lmao
sounds there's a helicopter in the stadium with that choppy audio
Great series
@wuat007 the game is from 95', and you can see in 5:29 "NBA GREATEST GAMES" so this game is re-broadcasted till now... ;-)
If this happened today the last four shots would have all been reviewed
haha I recorded this on my VCR back in '95....my fav. game
Old market square arena was cool looking.
The last 20 seconds felt like 20 minutes. 4 lead changes!
The Memorial Day Miracle.....classic
That PACERS VS MAGIC 1995 ECF was also a great series. I think it would be a much more interesting finals series if THE PACERS where the one that faced THE ROCKETS in 95 FINALS.. The MAGIC were beaten by inexperience by a much experienced HOUSTON TEAM..
This is from 1995. Look at the playoff logo on the floor at 1:42.
Man I forgot how stacked that Orlando team was. Shaq Hardaway Brian Shaw Dennis Scott Horace Grant......They were a tough team. Indy was great that year as well it just wasnt meant to be......If you recall Orlando as tough as they were got swept horribly in the NBA Finals against the Rockets.
@wuat007 lol the court has "1995 NBA Playoffs" painted on it.
@NbAlIvEr100 I agree
I wished NBA B-Ball was even cool as it was in the older years..
@Survivor87 i figured it was a while but I just had to.
Do you have Game 5 from this series? Or Game 7?
@wuat007 Jees, this copy is from NBA TV, they replay Hardwood Classics, C'mon man...
I'm curious what is the John 3:3 sign for? I have seen this sign from both Pacers and Knicks home games.
This is the game stick to my head.
I forget how much Shaq used to foul out! And his team never gave him the ball in crunch anyhow because he was such a liability at the line so the other team just automatically fouled him. And he never fixed that problem. That's why I'll never have him above top 4 at center.
Before Steph curry, there was Reggie miller!!!
Mark Boyle's call was better than Marv Albert.
actually that was very fortunate... lol
2:57
the audio has Parkinson's
Anybody notice the clock was at 0 before the last shot?
Did Shaq foul our or was he sitting because he's so shitty at FTs?
Fouled out.
Shaq fouled out.
I remember watching this game at my friends house. They all hated the Magic. HOWEVER that was NOT 1.3 seconds. I am sorry but the Dunkin Dutch Boy had that ball for about 3 seconds
No way man, if you pause it at 0:01 the ball is in the air.
9:14 to 9:18, seems like it's 1.3 seconds
