Reggie vs. Smitty. They went at it quite a bit in the mid-90's.

Wilkins should have been on the team with Steve Smith, Mookie Blaylock and Dikembe Mutombo from 1994 to 1999 and they would have made at least one ECF and who knows what when then

The same thing happened to the Hawks the next year, Detroit was highly anticipated to move on to the 2nd round for the dream matchup of Grant Hill vs. Michael Jordan & Scottie Pippen. I'd say this was a bigger upset though considering this is before Dikembe Mutombo came to Atlanta.

had miller not been injured the pacers probably would've won 3-1

@@LALakers4life34it's a team sport. Hill, even after his injuries, still was 17 6 and 4 for his career. Him and Penny were so damn good but Hill made the Hof because of his college championships as well of being a 7x all star in the nba. Hill missed basically 4 years in a row and somehow played very good with the magic and suns . Penny had a great 4 or 5 year run but was never the same or even close after getting injured in 97 or 98.

A few weeks after this game I see Antonio Davis at the airport and asked for his autograph... ended that interaction by telling him I was bummed they lost to the Hawks.... Lol

Shame Pacers lost this game. Hawks were never a chance against the Magic in the second round. The eye socket injury of Reggie Miller came at the worst time of the season for the Pacers. However, Pacers were predicted to win this series even without Miller playing.

you make sense and if you ask me the 97 bulls going 15-4 weren't as HIGHLY elite as the 96 bulls who went 15-3 no disrespect but the 96 magic led by legend shaquille o'neal weren't as HIGHLY elite as those two bulls teams led by legend michael jordan and still the 96 hawks who didn't have dikembe mutombo fell down 3-0 to the magic

This was a pretty significant upset that season - the Hawks in the early 90s were usually little more than a token first round opponent for someone to beat pretty easily. The thought was that Miller being out was the only reason this series was tied, and that with him back for the deciding game the Pacers would run away with it. Nobody really even considered the possibility that the Hawks might actually win this game.

Void left by Jordan's Bulls and Cleveland Cavs made Indiana '94 a possibility...
If Pippen played all 82 games even, no Indiana '94.
Hawks were soft pre - Mutombo, pre - Steve Smith, post - Wilkins fo' apocalyptic #1 seed
Orlando was a good team, but Atlanta was a bum 1 seed. Wilkins trade dumbest ever.
Jordan leaving literally made Indiana (everyone else) believe they had a shot. And Cleveland losing Daugherty to injury-retirement, Nance to injury-retirement, Hot Rod Williams to season ending injury day before playoff with Pippen Bulls
Wilkins woulda put a gun up to Reggie and went at his throat for that ECF...
Atlanta trading him is a travesty.
The '94 Wilkins trade the worst trade ever (one of) along with Harper in '89 CLE trade (one of)
Id have picked Atlanta vs New York ECF if I was a betting man if Wilkins squared off with Reggie in ECSF 1994... Wilkins didn't play and battled hard with the greatest , ie:
    Jordan 2🐂3 A I R 1🏆9🏆9🏆3 , Isiah Bad☠️Boy 🏆🏆 and Bird ☘️🐦🏆🏆🏆, (🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆Magic to lesser degree) and was a legend in his own right.
Cón 'Air' Jordan gone. Cón Pippen out 10 games. Cón Ewing already declining cause of age en Núeva York, cón Cleveland retiring and playing without anybody over 6'8" (Tyrone Hill) cuz their league leading shot blocking defensive Frontline was on IR and checking into retirement homes for rehabilitation stints. Y Orlando was soft and unready for NBA EC playoff basketball. Baby Shaq got swept alot. 94-99 Orl 94-96, LA 97-99, baby Shaq swept 6x (1-23 in playoff series lost in 90's) . Even Penny was better @ fighting when down. Penny was 3-6 post Shaq in Orlando and in 2000 vs LA in WCSF Penny was remarkably combative again. I think 6 games with 67-15 Phil Jackson LA.
I think Pippen Bulls beat Reggie in '94 ECF. As Ewing still could in '94. I know Wilkins leading Willis, Blaylock and ATL beats Reggie in '94 ECSF. I know #1 seed Jordan Bulls or #1 seed Pippen (missed 10 games: CHI 4-6) Bulls beat Reggie in '94 ECSF. I think #1,#3,#4 seed healthy Price, Wilkins, Nance, Hot Rod, and Daugherty (maybe as good a lineup as the 89 Cavs with Harper + those 4)beats Reggie in '94 1stqtr round, ECSF, or ECF.
If the Nets don't lose Blaylock and petrovic or Boston Reggie Lewis I'm kidding.... Not that far. Reggie had some magic. But the rest yeahhhh
