Something like this is a good display of the solid, tasteful and ridiculously underrated drumming from Sean. It's my understanding that his performance on the kit was overdubbed on the album with samples.
As far as I’m aware it’s not that there was a lot of overdubbing, it’s that some songs were real drums and some were entirely programmed due to logistics/studio availability. Fairly sure I read that a while back but I might also be talking out of my butt. That said, there are a few songs with subtly different drum tones to the rest of the album. Whatever the case, all of the drum sounds in the album are killer.
@@deviltelletubbieHere's where I got my info. Haven't watched it since, so the details I mentioned could be off a bit. But yes I agree the drums sound killer, just personally lacking a bit of acoustic personality. ruclips.net/video/ZyiYOl_T6Fw/видео.html
Aight so the drums were tracked live in studio with no reso head on the kick, toms and a low tuned, muffled snare because they were going for a "modern vintage sound". When they realised it wouldn't work entirely how they envisioned, George Lever, the mixer, brought in snare and kick samples and BLENDED them (not replaced them) with the original tracks to keep the humanity in the playing as he does not like sample replacement unless it is absolutely necessary or what the band wants. Now to my ears - the drum track here sounds different to the one on the album so these playthroughs could be Erik and Connors own mixes
Btw that subzero baritone jaguar that my man is playing is literally only 300 dollars. Sometimes it’s hard to see why you need to pay for so much if you just want to play. And I know this more then anyone because we lefties get no love out here in terms of guitar manufacturing.
