Happy BD RICHARD- I saw Earl Hammer doing an interview back in day and he said Richard were more JOHN BOY than he was in real life !!!!
No one could replace Richard Thomas as John Boy ..

but his chemistry with the writing and the cast

Yes, I felt the same way until I saw him in person last year in the role of Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” After a few minutes, John Boy went away and Atticus appeared. Richard is such a versatile and talented actor. He can make any role his own.

It does seem to be shown on TV multiple times a day.

Happy birthday, Richard! The scene where he gives you the roses brought bake fond memories of my oldest brother. He sent a corsage to our mom and me for Easter one year, even though he was in the Navy and stationed at Pearl Harbor. I was in junior high and it was the first time I had ever received flowers from anyone. I cried.

My favorite moment between Mary Ellen and John Boy is in Richard Thomas’ last regular episode, when Mary Ellen tells the family that she’s pregnant and it takes just a second for everyone to process what she’s said before John Boy throws his arms around her and is yelling is congratulations at the top of his voice. It’s one of my favorite scenes in the whole series. I hope Richard Thomas had a lovely birthday he seems like a pretty stellar person.

(Get this: Doug & I were both born redheads--the only two of the eight kids, except he let his go white; I'm too vain for that and my red-headed granddaughter wants us to continue looking alike!)

I saw Richard in "To Kill a Mockingbird" in San Francisco last December. Wow! What a treat! He is an exceptional actor. The play and cast are amazing as well.

Nice walk down memory lane with all those stories showing how Mr. Thomas not only believably played your character's big brother but also how he in RL behaved as one when helping you deliver the best performances possible (e.g. screaming at you during your closeups when Mary Ellen accidentally sold the Baldwin Sisters' typewriter).
BTW, you and Mr. Thomas having sons a few weeks apart and each of you meeting them but them not meeting each other it's not unlike many large families in which siblings meet each other's kids but the siblings' kids don't always meet all their 'cousins'!
