I'm guessing by the lack of non-japanese videos that the Full Mechanics Kenbu hasn't arrived to most western audiences yet. Doesn't bode well when i already expected mine to be delayed by a month.
in the anime the reason Barbataurus looks bigger is because it grew in size due to its pilot using a program that powers it up halfway through the final battle, it is originally roughly the same size as the other Gundams when it first appeared, also in Post Disaster universe tech logic the Barbataurus is probably the most powerful Gundam Frame ever due to being powered by freaking two Twin Ahab Reactors, lol.
Well, not necessarily. The Barbataurus also has more body components than a standard Gundam Frame. If they actually are functional, and not just a byproduct of the build, the 2 extra Ahab Rectors would be powering the other 3/4 of a Gundam attached to the Barbataurus's butt. Also in Post Disaster tech, more Ahab Reactos does not automatically translate to more power. The Vidar had 3 Ahab Reactors, but the third reactor didn't actually boost its performance, it just scrambled the Ahab signature so that nobody would recognize it as the Kimaris.
@@corvus9359 I think it actually did, but not in base, more so when gaileo uses AV system type E. With that in mind I think it's safe to say that the third ahab reactor isn't just a random one, it's the reactor to the graze ein.
@@MusicFan752 The AV System Type-E is still Ein's brain. It uses him in place of Gaelio (through directly taking control of Gaelio's piloting), so as to minimize the damage to Gaelio's body after the Kimaris Vidar is pushed to its limits.
@@MusicFan752 The AV Type E is still used in the Kimaris Vidar, which doesn't use the 3rd Ahab Reactor. Adding more Ahab Reactors doesn't automatically translate to more power. The AV Type E isn't even what made the Kimaris Vidar more powerful in the first place, it was the limiters being removed and the Type E absorbing the strain that would normally be endured by the pilot.
@@corvus9359 wouldnt say powerful, more so a reaction boost like how graze ein did in it's debut battle. I just brought up the ahab part cause yeah adding another ahab reactor doesn't do much, especially if it doesn't have the same pattern as the original twin reactors of a Gundam frame. I brought it up cause honestly I haven't really seen anyone say it must be the reactor of graze ein and people wondering how the Type E can work with vidar. Plus I don't know if the limiter removal for gaileo would work the same as for say mikazuki, at least in terms of consequences to the pilot. Not an actual strain from mobile suit performance but more so from information overload from the AV system.
At least we now finally have a version of Barbatos that *actually fits the name **_"Barbatos"._* The 8th Demon of the Ars Goetia, Great-Duke *Barbatos,* is most-consistently depicted as an Archer, sometimes even riding an equine (and based on the "Sagittarius" constellation too).
At the very least, this _should_ give a close [if still vague] idea of how the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos was originally meant to be armed/armored *during the Calamity War* long before the events of IBO.
Barbatos gets its name from the latin root barba or beared, barbatos is commonly depicted as a bearded old man. He is not depicted as a sagittarius but that he appears " when the sun is in sagittary" this means he is active from November 23rd to December 21st as that is when the "sun is in sagittary" ie when the sun is out during the period of the zodiac sign sagittarius. He is depicted as an archer but not a centaur.

So I’ve built this kit and it’s sitting on my shelf right now, but not how it comes out of the box. I decided to skip on the whole “centaur” concept, but took many of the various armor pieces and rearranged them to make what is now my favorite High Grade gundam build. Moved the centaur shoulders to barby’s shoulders instead of the new spiked ones. This allowed me to connect the bow-blades to each shoulder and tie them together behind barby with the energy effect. Took the centaur fin side skirts and made them barby’s side skirts. I have one leg with the extended dark armor from barby and one leg with the lighter centaur armor. Used exclusively barby feet. Managed to use the centaur butt flap/tail extension on barby, giving him the cool tail to go with those energy blade shoulders. Finally, I did remove the stomach extension because I felt it didn’t really add much in terms of articulation/posing. To me he just looked too tall and awkward with it. So yeah, put some time in and this kit is incredibly customizable with just the parts included in the box. Easily my favorite high grade so far.
I love this kit almost entirely due to how much wiggle room you have in building this kit in the box. There are like 4 configurations for different Gundam/designs in this kit alone. Standard Barbataurus Gundam Barbaric Standard Barbatos And more.
Barbataurus is actually an interesting refresh concept of Barbatos. Who knew making a centaur could actually make it far more badass? If only the back legs could be more poseable so there’s more centaur or stallion flare to it.

The Barbataurus in the anime looks MG sized because in the game, you can turn some gunpla parts to be MG sized, altho I don't think that the Barbataurus parts can actually be upgraded into that size, but yeah it's a feature in the game Also, in the bow's blade form, you can bend the blades back towards barbie and now you have two guns(idk if it's anywhere in the kit itself, but it's official in the game)
I also have one of these. I modified the back legs slightly and it's much nicer. I took the second set of back skirts off entirely and turned the back legs around to point the knees correctly forward. It looks so much better now.
The Gunpla comes with parts that allows the builder to customize it into Gundam Barbaric (the arms are needed to be used from the HGI-BO ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos 6th Form), though the antenna needs to be extensively modified to create a more complete, symmetrical piece. The frame can be replaced with the Gundam Frame 4 from the HG Gundam Barbatos 6th Form for easier shoulder frame removal and a stable foot swivel. (The polycap on the front foot is needed to be replaced) The open hands from the Mobile Suit Option Set 7 can be used for this kit. (The dorsals must be swapped.)

The only problem with mine is that the weapons don't want to stay in the the sheaths. The twin swords fall off if I move it and the long sword just keeps sliding out the back.
Great Video, Although judging from the anime I think you got his Handgun Mode backwards. The flat side on mine has a molded on gun barrel, similar to one of the many gunpla pistols i've got laying around. It looks a little stubby and kind of inconvenient but its better than firing out of a blade.
I am surprised that this kit doesn’t come with an extra set of horns that not damaged. Oh well, when whenever it’s predecessor is available I am sure you can easily switch the horns out.
I remember when i was first getting into Gunpla i had wanted this kit cause i thought it looked so cool. And when i got it i was washed with dissapointment. There are so many points of failure in this, the lower half wouldnt stay and some legs wouldnt hold properly. I ended up vaulting it cause everytime i needed to dust mt shelf and clean my gunpla i had to put it back together from just picking it up.
I kinda have a crazy ideas on customised this Barbataurus and make it into 2 seperated model 😂😂😂, just planning inside my mind... totally need some extra part or just take it from Barbatos
I hadnt panel lined my gundam breaker battlogue set because i wanted it to have a "video gamey" look, considering what the anime was about, but seeig how awesome yours looks, i think i changed my mind! How do you get your panel lines looking so perfect?
The ASW-G-08-4X4 Gundam Barbataurus is a unique design for sure. I'm surprised Bandai hasn't made an HG ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbaric. Maybe it'll get a P-Bandai release later. Personally though, I'd be happy if Bandai makes an MG ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus and MG ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex.
@xxnike629xx Their *BOXES* will surely be a nice addition to your *BOX* fort, especially that you'll gonna celebrate this year the decade anniversary of your quitting from building your kits for good 🎂
I just built it and imo it's a hit or miss, I've had to tighten parts and glue stuff because it just wasn't staying together for me, when I was posing it it's front torso popped out from the joint and the arms and legs keep falling off and are really really loose, as well as the legs kept coming apart so 80% is held together by glue. It's a cool kit but personally with my experience with it it is bronze

Now time to wait for the HG command qant
That is a sick looking model. Adding it to the wish list.
I've made a barbataurus 3 year before this kit is released but I lost it.
Display that Gundam next to Kimaris Trooper Gundam who had a Centaur design too.
I Been Waiting For This
He was holding his hand guns backwards I know because it has a small trigger detail on the handle.
I wonder how this would look if you switch out the torso with the astray red inversion torso
Thanks for the video!
Can't unsee the zaku heads on the shoulder pads after watching a jp review of it...
Great to kit bash with Rex , Lupus and this barbataurus
I wonder if the Gunprimer Joint Guard will work on some of the loose joints here.
I don't really want to top coat mine.
I need to check that stuff out, looks interesting. And if it works I might need a few tonnes of it!
Dude as soon as I was done watching Someone reviewing this I said "I wish Mecha would do this soon"
I was building the Jesta and found the shield arm to be a bit crap
I wonder where I can just buy sub arms like thunderbolt ver?
I kinda have a crazy ideas on customised this Barbataurus and make it into 2 seperated model 😂😂😂, just planning inside my mind... totally need some extra part or just take it from Barbatos
Sorry to be the one to tell you this but that IS how horse legs work...
@xxnike629xx Their *BOXES* will surely be a nice addition to your *BOX* fort, especially that you'll gonna celebrate this year the decade anniversary of your quitting from building your kits for good 🎂
Yeah that's great and all, but how about you stop hoarding gunpla kits for once
I just built it and imo it's a hit or miss, I've had to tighten parts and glue stuff because it just wasn't staying together for me, when I was posing it it's front torso popped out from the joint and the arms and legs keep falling off and are really really loose, as well as the legs kept coming apart so 80% is held together by glue.
It's a cool kit but personally with my experience with it it is bronze
uhh the handguns were pointed backward, the muzzle is at the back of the blade closer to the handle
