a lot are taking about it across the pond in usa it actually does come with lights front and rear. I know for a fact rtr does a lot of people had the Hobao MT PLUSS 2 which was 1/7 scale. but great truck people love it in 🇺🇸
I had its big brother a few years ago. Absolutely mental - certainly a lot bigger than a Kraton 6s and waaaaay more lunacy. Used to blow tyres off at will. Body clips were shite and the body was made of tissue paper but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - Hobao make THE best diffs in RC, they are fantastic. I’ve had a few Hobao scars over the years and I’ve actually just bought a VT road car - they are great value on the second hand market as the bits that are shite are very visible and not too expensive to replace. Keep up the good work Phil.
ive got the older nitro version, bit disappointed with it, those rear tie rods suck, keeps killing diff cups maybe with a few mods it might be ok but not really many upgrades available
Any RC you own probably breaks on purpose to tap out early and avoid further abuse 😅 Maybe these newer ones have been beefed up... we shall see I guess
This is a far superior update to the nitro old version ….honestly all I’ve added to mine is cnc knuckles and added oils to the diff and a chassis braces plate you can add two of you want ….im going to say it its up there with the x Maxx or even surpasses the Xmaxx in durability …considering the mods needed to make a stock xmaxx durable it’s a bargain I got this a week ago Black Friday early deals for £430 rtr version and it is a steal
Looks a beastie for sure. Nobody's talking about it, because HB didn't send dozens out to influencers to review for free if you know what I mean! I take a big magnet with me on a bash for finding metal bits in grass!
First of all I love Hobao. I was running their products back when they were sold under the OFNA name. I have 3 Hoboa, 2 of which are Hyper 7 TQ, the toughest buggy ever made. This is a sweet one. The upgraded model. You got the spider diffs straight off and the shocks and aluminum chassis upgrades. Thats the MTX for ya. I like it man. Now get rough with it!
toughest buggy= d power beast BX!!! I know no one knows this crappy piece of shit, but apart from its poor handling, lack of ANY adjustments or the ability to repair it, because the screws are glued in with some stupid superglue ( and yes we still talk about hobbygrade), it was physically indestructible! I run this thing full speed( brushless btw) into a lamp post, spinning around itself for a hundred years... No problem at all! I think it was so tough because it was one solid block of plastic, wich almost completely remofed its ability to drive ( habdled like an X maxx with pancakes as wheels) , but make it as durable as a... solid block of plastic... but it eventually gave up the ghost because of a broken diff, wich btw was an almost X maxx sized one in an 1/10. And because i couldnt remove it, i sold this piece of garbage on ebay for 40$. But theres no way something is NEARLY as tough as this thing.
I love Hobao trucks I have an earlier model but essentially the same and bought as a roller. It’s had a good beating and stood up well. Although I did bend the chassis after a particularly bad landing from about five meters up😂 great video I’ve only just found you so will be catching up on old content
It's a great looking basher. Thanks for sharing it. I am not sure why we don't see more of their cars being tested on RUclips. May be there are tests and I just haven't look. Currently on this website in the states the truck is selling for $650 and ARR is $499. They have some very unusual cars and trucks. You have sparked my interest. Thank you.

Have to say tomley ive been watching the vids for months now and im genuinely enjoying them. Keep up the work defo goona be a top rc youtube. Id class you as one now
Ahhhh this makes me happy they've done something electric and truggy like yet makes me sad I still never got my Hyper ST conversion to work properly (veeeeeeeeery early days of that as was Nitro) Its still sitting here looking at me ten years later. Tried fitting the Hyper 8 spur gear and pinion but the drive train is so noisy it sounds mechanically painful so I've never dared to run it. Has the 150A from the time from hobbywing as well and a 2250kv monster truck motor in it. Back then that was lunacy expensive. I even paid 75 quid for a motor mount from America as there was nothing about back then. Has brand new tyres on it since it's conversion from nitro, never seen grass! :( hope you have lots of fun with yours.
Love your channel but this truck has been on several RUclips channels. I’m actually kind of tired seeing RUclipsrs reviews on this truck but still love your vids brother.👍👍👍💯💯💯🙂
Hao Bao make some good stuff, they did a cool crawler (1/10th) a while back that i got to have a drive of . And they do do nice blue bodies. At some point i would like something like this, but this or a scx6 honcho....
Yeah I definitely want to check one of these out razor RC did a big video on this. And he did one of his reviews and said it’s the most durable truck he has ever owned
AHA! You've finally entered the world of real RCs haha! (slight bias coming up) There's a little-known fact about Hobao which I'll get to in a sec. Firstly, after racing a Typhon for a couple of years at the local track I was introduced to a Hobao. I bought their 1/8 buggy roller, equipped it myself and it got me third place in two categories in the same season. For the record, that one is a Hobao Hyper SS (Buggy). But mine has that little known secret, which is the differentials. Apart from traditional planetaries, Hobao also makes what's called a 'Torsen' diff. I'll spare the details but its advantage is it sends the power to the outside wheels during a turn. Mine has one in both F&R. If you remember that at the track, you can outside-turn nearly anyone else (given equal conditions). Thanks for that review - it further strengthened my belief that Hobao CAN OUT-PERFORM ANY VETERAN-LEVEL RIG IN THE N. AMERICAN MARKET. You can find the Torsen diffs on the Hobao website.
I might have to get hold of a buggy.. they look really good. My old GR Yaris had Torsen Diffs, I hadn't heard of them until I bought it. Good old mechanical wizardry
Killer bashing at the Bike park .. no beak too really cool 6s M/T 💯👌. There’s a new bike park opened here just five minutes away!! I never thought about going down there .. i’ll have to go check it out now ☝️
I can’t see anything really I don’t like about that truck , some of the things you mentioned are easy fixes , like a bit of foam under the body mounts . I genuinely think Hobao have knocked it out the park with this 👌
Nice video as always, @tomley an idea for you. Since you got so many RC in collection, how about scan and uploading the UserManuals for all of the RC for your patreon members? Because I find myself and friends often having hard time getting some model manual..
I used to own a nitro Hyper 7 back in the day when nitro was king and brushless/lipos were nowhere to be seen. Great car super durable. Keep and eye on the shocks on this truck Tomley, I know you wernt pushing it that much here but if you start going for bigger jumps you will probably end up bending the shock shafts or blowing up pistons. Because as it comes out of the box the suspension doesnt allow the chassis to bottom out so all the force is being sent into the shocks.
Pretty cool truck. Maybe try the Pro-line secure lock body mounts. Yea they are screw on but they are tight. I wasn't sure what a jubbile clip is, oh you mean a hose clamp!!!🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
I think a certain nobody youtuber caller razor RC talked, tested, rated this truck before you got it. Not dissing you hey, love your stuff. Just recommending a friendly RC competitor hahahaha ha. In all cases , peace, and may the torque be you both

Cool truck at a really good price point for what you get, cool to see they still make a nitro version as well. However I wonder what shock oil is in there stock it looks really over dampened from the factory
Good vid, did you ever take it back out to the skatepark? I'm a big fan of Hobao stuff, run a VSE Pro at the local track and it's quick not to mention very tough.
traxxas and arrma have part support everywhere in the usa, thats why hobao isnt more popular. Any part I need for my Kraton 8s are only a couple miles away, and they also carry the whole traxxas line. Hobao also needs to do more to let people know that they are the same as Ofna
Why would letting people know they are the same as Ofna help? 90% of people never heard of Ofna, but I get that there parts are not in the LHS... They need to do more with those relationships.... BUT in fairness this truck is SO much tougher than any Arrma and Traxxas is own, I rarely break anything, I have spars for most important bits and I Bash this truck hard, watch my videos, and I haven't broken anything 🤣 When I say Toughest RTR Check my channel, I bash everything so no Fanboy talk here... I love my M2Cified Arrma rigs and my Maxx & Xmaxx. Have a good day
My LHS only carries limited parts for the on road Arrma cars if I need anything for my Kraton 6s, Outcast 6s, Typhon 3s or Senton 3s I have to order it online. They carry mostly Traxxas stuff and even then parts for the Traxxas vehicles are hit or miss whether or not they will have said part(s) in stock so I just order all my parts online anyway because I got sick of driving there only to walk out empty handed because they didn't have what I needed in stock. Sure they can order parts but it seriously takes them 2 weeks to get parts in........................
Great video sir I have to say, the quality and the colours are superb and the RC action made me want to get some batteries charged up and get out bashing. The video reminds me a lot of RCDriver_Online style of action video and please take that as a compliment as I love his review style and the BMX track action videos. Excellent work.
