Happy you guys are doing all the work yourself. I’m a electrician in the military and that tutorial is very brief but it’s better than nothing lol. If you need help please don’t hesitate to ask. As far as a motor, I have worked on all the ones you have listed but the easiest one that like are the Hondas because of part availability, easy maintenance and last long, very reliable. The only bad thing is they are expensive. Awesome adventure but very stressful. Praying for you guys.
You guys very inspiring 👏 ❤️ 🙌 sorry for all hard work you had to deal with. Our territory needs better improvement on their services on docks life. We have beautiful harbor to welcome 🙏 🤗 ❤️ with good 👍 services for all.
Praying God will meet your needs. Too bad you cant anchor in our village (Sa'ilele) because of the reef. I could ask my family to accomodate you folks. Try and anchor close to Satala village by the cemetery. Still deep enough and close to the road to park your truck. I cant see why you still cant moor to pier when no work is done after hours. Approach the governors Office for assistance. Take care and trust in the Lord to provide. Much alofas from Alaska
Yes, we are safe ❤️❤️ We would love to anchor in a smaller bay, but we’ve been told Pago Harbor is the safest place to be throughout cyclone season. Thankfully we’re getting it figured out. We’ve had so much love and support from so many people here ❤️❤️
Yikes! That poor dinghy doesn't look very promising, and the mooring question still hanging... wow pretty compelling viewing! I'll be eagerly waiting to learn the outcomes. Great video, AmSamFam!
Watching you guys make me feel ok !!! Hope you guys save out there !! I’m born and raised in the South Pacific islands but I’m in Between Washington and Idaho place call Spokane Valley
I work on the water for a living. Any motor that you have is a good one but from my experience and we drive skifs like we stole them, mercury motors are alright but the throttle linkage breaks all the time and they are under powered and have much lower speed(4 stroke or 2 stroke). Yamaha motors specifically 2 stroke have been the absolute best in my experience, best snap, most power and fastest top end speed. I once lost one off the back of a skiff, it spent 8 hours under the sea and we recovered it removed the spark plugs and pull started it and sprayed WD40 (water displacer 40) in where the spark plugs were and later that day it was up and running again.
And we hear you have another challenge today. The volcano eruption south of AMFAM in Tongo has erupted. Prayers and hope coming your way. Hope the reports are not as bad as the new says. Keep US advised
Thank you! Yes, we’ve been on alert. We went up to higher ground with some friends when the warning was active last night and we’ve been keeping a close watch for any additional warnings. But please keep those prayers coming for everyone in the Pacific ❤️
It is all about the dinghy and finding a place to park your car and shower. Been there done that. This is going to be very difficult psychologically because you guys are basically moving into a quasi homeless type lifestyle. If your boat aint right and you guys are not all geared out I would advise that you get an apartment and really work on the refit on the boat. But I dont know the finances. But I'll say it again, guys that do this full time (living off the hook) have really nice dinghys because that is where its at out there. If it were me I would throw some serious cash at the small boat game first. Don't mess around, throw at least $5,000 towards the small boat. I feel for ya and will keep you guys in prayer.
I fixed a pontoon boat pylon with the blow foam insulation "GOOD STUFF" it floats. I do not know if that would help. I also used the "FLEX SEAL" stuff but had very bad results, in wanting to patch a boat. If it were rubber you could use a rubber cement and rubber patch system, but I do not thing that would adhere to the vinyl material. Wish I could have been more helpful
I’ve used outboard motors all my life … Mercury is a fine motor .. everyone has their favorites .. but Mercury is one of the oldest best brands made … in response to your outboard motor question ..also they should come with an excellent factory warranty
