Glad things are going better. You guys are great role models for your children. ..Yes it was hard and stressfull, but you showed perserverance and courage. got it done! awesome!
You guys are doing great! Life off the dock is very rewarding once you get accustomed to its challenges. My input... 1. Smartest thing you ever did throwing away that inflatable...i knew when i saw you trying to repair it that it wouldn’t end well for that dingy. 2. New dinghy is perfect for the harbor and calm anchorages...careful not to bang your boat with it! 3. Outboard engines will ALWAYS let you down when you least expect it...plan for it. Have a handheld vhf that comes in the dinghy with you. Also a kayak is great for solo trips to shore since it can be used in the wind on those days when you run out of sugar and the outboard is dead. 4. A ‘watermaker’ would make your life heavenly...especially since the water around you is so clear...the filters would last a long time between service. The sailing channel ‘sailing emerald steel’ once did a video showing exactly how he built his own, at a fraction of the cost of a commercial unit, which was still working perfectly many years later.
Wow, thanks for the input! Kayaks aren’t always available on-island, but we were able to get one just about a week ago. Although our whole family can’t fit on it, it’s nice to have some sort of back-up. Our boat came with a water maker, but it sat for too long and the membrane dried up. It’s on our list to either get a new membrane or rig up a completely new system, it just hasn’t moved to the top of the list yet. We’ll check out Sailing Emerald Steel though, it would be helpful to see how someone else did it. Thanks!
It’s really cool to see you guys go through the struggles, learning the ropes and everything, it’s inspiring to say the least. Thanks for taking us on your beautiful journey so far!
Hi AmSam Fam, you have a strong little assistant there! Good job Kip helping mom out, hope all goes well with your new spot!! Tofá soifua and alofa atu!
SOOOO happy to see that new dinghy! When I first saw how much glue you were having to use on the old one, it was clear it was going to have to wind up where you put it. Anyway, good job all around! I love when you said “it’s all part of the adventure”. I nominate that as AmSamFam’s personal maxim. ❤️
I really commend you and your family for doing somthing that most of us can only dream of. You really are learning as you go and I'm sure in 5 years from now you are going to say " What the hell were we thinking!" But wouldn't do any other way!
Yay!!! Im so glad you guys have a solid functional tender! That is going to make a huge difference on your life. So happy for you guys on that. Good job!
Hello I just want to say how incredible your family is! Your patience is amazing I am striving to be like you both! Congratulations on the move on the boat I hope all goes well praying for your family 🙏
Awesome glad yo guys got situated. By the way, you have a front row seat to see the fautasi ( long boat) race this year. Make sure you get a good video of that event.
Enjoying the warm weather video, here in Ohio We are on aa winter weather advisory with Snow on one side of our city and freezing rain and sleet on the south. I am thinking 'we' wish we were there.... keep up the great videos on the trials and tribulations of life with AmSamFam.
You guys are amazing , Try to get out and visit some of our island beaches and views , You guys might like it , Also visit the Manu'a island now that's is true paradise , Especially the island of Ofu and Olosega , They have a marvelous white sand beach and blue water with lots of fresh seafood and the people are so friendly and supportive , They provide you with free foods and their beautiful smile .
Can you talk about a typical day living on a sailboat? I'm curious about how much more time and effort goes into doing the basics of everyday life like showering, using the bathroom, getting rid of trash. And on the subject of trash, living on an island, where does the trash and human waste go? You are a strong and adventurous family!
Talofa family, so sad you guys have to put up with all these nonsense.. why don’t the government utilize all spaces all around the beautiful Pago harbor and build Some civilized harbor slips and make money from the harbor slips, just feel sorry for you guys to have to work so hard to do a simple thing like park a boat 🛥 maybe whoever is engineering or Master planning that beautiful Pago harbor needs to be updated..just thinking out loud.Alofa Atu,,Tofa.
🤷🏻♀️ We’re hoping this new dock extension will have some real slips for sailboats. It would make so much sense, like you said, revenue for the harbor.
You chose the lifestyle, and AmSam....suck it up people you are in paradise! By the way, di you guys ever post how much money you take in donations? The good people of Samoa need the donations!!!
These guys aren't asking for donations. What they are doing is making a product. People show they want it by watching, buying the tourist guide or branded merchandise. This all takes a lot of work and they give up a lot of privacy in the bargain. And I'm not disagreeing with you on the point that many people need help right now. Samoans included.

Thank you ☺️ It’s good to be settling in.

I was astonished to see that your boat's name is Odile, that is my first name and outside of France, it is pretty rare. Blessings to you!
Wow, hope things get better for you folks. The disadvantages of living on a boat. Sending you and your familiy alofas ♥️
Ha, that’s true. Thanks ❤️

I like the progress that you guys are going into. Another great video would be the kinds of knots that would help out with having a boat/ship.
Great suggestion. Nate is really good with those, so that would be a great resource for all of us 😊
I see a future Harbour Master in young Kip.
How did you guys get a boat? Thats terrific!!!
Hope you guys are good 👍 and get help from our local community 👍. Be safe.
Yes, so many people have been very helpful ❤️

It’s so sad that it can be a world class harbor, after all it is the main source of income for your island home.
