Talofa lava - I lived in Tafuna AS for 2 years (1967 and 1968) and worked for the Dept. of Education - Supervising the putting of all the actual TV sets into all the schools on all islands for the "New" educational TV system in AS. I've only been back once and that was in 2003. Wonderful people I worked with and an experience for me as a 25 Year old that changed my life. Including being drafted drafted and having to report to Hawaii - Waikiki Beach - to get inducted and swore in to the US Army. If that had not happened i might still be living in Amarika Saaaamo a . I might come visit again some day while I can. I am now 81 yeas old and live in my home in Colorado. Fa'a fa tai !

American Samoa doesn’t allow land ownership to anyone who isn’t of Samoan blood. This is the reason they chose to live aboard a boat. (They were tired of renting) I assume the stress of living in a fixer upper boat on the water with a family and local legality challenges was probably too much for them to handle, unfortunately putting an end to their marriage. It’s sad but it happens. They took a risk and it just didn’t work in their favor. Hope they are doing well back on the mainland.

It's insane that so many people in America still fear socialized healthcare. In SOME places there may be horrible waiting or something, but I've sat for 8+hrs. in a waiting room on the mainland US to have my daughter seen so, having to wait is not detrimental. What is detrimental is families having to decide on care for themselves or a child based on cost, or being prescribed medication that they can't afford to purchase on a monthly basis. The American healthcare system/insurance companies are one of the biggest scams! People are gaslit into believing we have "worldclass" healthcare, meanwhile we have the highest infant/maternal mortality rates of other high-income countries while paying the highest amount for healthcare...CLEARLY the system is broken!

How is education over there? Is there a need for educators? as many small community places / islands.. there is a name to that feeling you've had.. where you feel connected to those you don't even know the name of but see on a regular basis.... places like that come from an understanding that people are all connected and in trying times will rely on each other.

I'm sure there is a lot of info I'm missing, but based on your video of health care.. it appears you don't have health insurance, (ie. United, Tricare, Blue Cross/Shield) for yourselves or your kids? and instead are relying on Medicare, which is 'tax payer funded', subsidized social healthcare system. -However, through that government subsidized program, you've had no troubles in getting the care you've needed?.. even though it's not really the US, you're able to make use of a US social program (would this be similar to PR, and Guam then in that regard?). Additionally, being that it's an remote, and small island nation; specialized care such as an orthopedic surgeon would involve a flight to Hawaii or Philippines as an example? Am I understanding all of this info correctly?
