This is a goldmine of a channel. No negativity, no nonsense, and no tired, blackpilled manosphere resentment. Just sensible advice any young man can use to improve himself. Well done 👍🏼
I am a married man of over 10 years, myself, but these questions could be really great Universal conversation starters, which I’m always looking for more of for various social settings. Thank you!
Awesome thought-provoking questions, leaving room for open-minded CREATIVITY and learning about each other without the current constraints of current occupation, and without it sounding like a cold-shouldered, closed-ended-question interrogation. ♦
Ask these questions: 1. If money were no object, what would you do for a living 2. How do you like to unwind when you're feeling stressed 3. Do you have any role models or mentors in your life 4. What's your favourite and lest favourite thing about this city 5. Are there any assumptions people make about you that are untrue Question 3 is not light-hearted and not suitable to ask on a first date. Sometimes those mentors cannot be told because they are serial killers or the controversial people etc.
This video has high value. I hope aspirants appreciate its insights and content. James knocked it out of the park with these questions. Well done, sir.
Great channel, much good advice for any situation. Your questions here could be useful when meeting someone new at a party or next to a stranger at dinner. I don’t think I could carry off the clothing part of being a gentleman, but the behavior aspects are things I try to adopt and teach my son. And you have a wonderful way of communicating. Thank you.
I love Chicago! If you have not been to the Chicago Art Institute, I super highly recommend it. They've always had great restaurants. And there's so much to see and do. And don't forget the Bahai Temple in Wilmette which is an architectural gem. And the Berghoff Restaurant has been around for more than a century. It is genuinely German-American. And excellent steak, pumpernickel rolls, and they have brewed their own dark beer. Genuinely "German-American." Not German. Not American.
The advice to take away here is that if you see a tie in a shop or online that you like the look of, always buy it! It probably won't be there next time you look. That advice was first given to me by a menswear store-worker while we were both looking at ties in a thrift store.
Consider making a video weather dating in your 20s or maintaining a long-term relationship is ideal for the modern gentleman in this contemporary era maybe proving weather chivalry has died or not
I might be very naive. But to me, it is hardly a thing to invite a stranger to dates to immediately try to jump from it to an actual relationship. It depends on what one wants : if it is a one-night stand, for sure, it is the easiest way to go. However, building someone serious such as finding someone to marry and with who to build one's own life, it is, I think, the wrong approach : it is like going to the gym for the first time ever and expect to get out looking like George Hackenschmidt at the end of that same day. Finding the one to marry is much more serious. I think men should try to get to know and befriend the person on the long term directly instead of taking dates. When you invite someone to a "date" the implicit premise is that you are looking for a hook up. Other forms of hanging out with women are not only more subtle, it also implies that you are actually interested to know the person as what they are as opposed to the sexual intercourse you could get from it.
@ - here is the definition I found on the internet. Vetting is the process of thoroughly investigating an individual, company, or other entity before deciding to go forward with a joint project.
6:33 just curious do you consider poverty to be a deal breaker? Because someone who is poor may have a very different life and access to things than you have
I can understand that. But how would you feel if someone you actually had great chemistry with and maybe developed feelings for turned out to have radically different values or life goals? Or some behavior you find really unnacceptable. Turns out youre just not compatible, and it may be things you could have found out way sooner, and less feelings and drama involved. There are pros and cons with both methods. Maybe you achieve more passion with yours.
Agreed, the thumbnail looked kinda sketchy and thought on skipping it but saw the channel's name (which I usually watch) and only then I decided to click on it.
Nice tie, but would you wear it on a first date? And don't blow it by not wearing a pocket square as it might come in handy for the lady in question. 🤧
Thank you. No, I wouldn't wear it on a first date. A pocket square shouldn't be used for those types of purposes. You carry a separate handkerchief for that.
As mentioned above it depends on the place/activity for the date. Is it a dinner? Is it just a coffee? Is it a casual walk around a mall? Or something more specific such an sports activity?
@@sammajor2075 In my own opinion in North America currently, my opinion, don't go too formal. If you're not accustomed to wearing a tie yet, skip the tie, stay comfortable and "approachable" and not intimidating. Wear high quality, nice looking upscale-casual clothes, with no conspicuous brand labels on them. Now in autumn and winter, wear a good quality but comfortable button-up shirt with a high quality 100% wool sweater (or cashmere sweater) in a single shade of colour, without any patterns. and semi-formal pants (assuming you're a man). Avoid exercise-casual clothes, sweatpants, jeans, and avoid running shoes. The exception is if you're having the first date in a more formal location, fancy restaurant, and you're already comfortable with a tie and formal suit, then y all means, go for it. I wouldn't mind hearing other opinions on it too.

Glad to hear you feel that way, Alan. That's exactly the type of content I set out to make. Thanks for your comment.
Great observation. I like neither the men spouting vitriol about women or women spouting vitriol about men. Good job James
Keep in mind that by asking serious questions you commit to listening to the response and giving serious responses of your own.
Yes, indeed. Thanks for your comment, Crystal.
“Shall we split the bill?” 😂
lol
Me watching this like I haven't had a first date in years
Bro's so charismatic that he skips straight to second date

Glad to hear this video is still useful to a married man. Thanks for your comment.
Love the tie!!
Thank you. It's a little more flamboyant than what I usually wear, but I love it.
Great conversational questions to enhance the first date experience!
Test it out.
If money wasn't an issue, I would probably do the same job, but not sweat so much over getting promoted 😂
Very good questions. And with detailed and insightful comments. Thank you !
Thankyou james this viedo really helped i joined the gentlemen lobby and im currently watching the gentlemen method, keep up the good work :)

If their mentor is a serial killer, that is definitely something you should know asap so you can run
@azulknight474
They won't tell even you ask.
Thank you James for a fantastic group of questions, and the "why" of each. And of course, great tie. It has that mid-century/atomic age vibe. Kudos.

Thank you, Lynn. My friend was just telling me about the Berghoff too. Sounds like a must-visit.
This is brilliant!
I am going to keep studying dating even though I am engaged. I hope it keeps things fresh in my relationship.
My philosophy is what was said of Marlena Dietrich: ' She never asked anyone any personal questions, because she didn't care " .
Great questions in general
If money were no object, I probably wouldn't work
But how would you spend your time? There are many fulfilling things we can do other than 'work.'
Yes, I would feel bad about taking a job from someone that needs it.
James be looking like Ryan Gosling on Crazy, Stupid, Love 👏🏾
Just need the six-pack too ;)
Already use question 1

Great advice, even for a single 68yo. Many thanks.
dang~! how did you come up with these awesome questions?
Splitting the bill on first date is never a question, it's just common sense
How many second dates do you get?
Thanks this video helps a lot I hope to ask the girl I like out soon
Soo did she say yes??
@ complicated
Again, thanks!
Just recently found your channel..kinda diggin it

Very good point. Before I got married, I viewed "dates" in exactly that way. However, perhaps not everyone views them the way we do.
Dating strangers sounds like bad time management.
I would want to vet a woman before investing in anything like a date.
@@michaelgarrow3239 What does it mean to "vet" a woman ? I never seen this expression before (I am a non-native english speaker)

Thank you alpha
Chicago, great city
Love the joke at the end
I'm glad my audience understands it was obviously a joke
Good topic
Very interesting
Bro has a silver RUclips play button shrine going in the background💀

Totally disagree with the "interview" style of conversation. Go organic and have some self-confidence.

Date?i had those in my twenties
Don't "date". Just hang out. It works a lot better.
There are still conversations in going out for a walk, also if you have a girlfriend every single time you see each other 1 on 1 is considered a date
Well, from a lady's perspective that would show a tremendous lack of investment and effort. It also depends on how much you value her time.
Is that what you’re having first dates for? I’ve been doing it wrong all this time.
Did you take thumbnail pictures yourself? 😅
Nah
A first date is exactly like a job interview..... It's all bulshit.... LOL
😂
Using pictures of women like that in your thumbnails just for clickbait isn’t very gentlemanly. I know you can do better brother.
Agreed, the thumbnail looked kinda sketchy and thought on skipping it but saw the channel's name (which I usually watch) and only then I decided to click on it.
Men are visual creatures, and this channel is for men to help improve themselves. I have no problem with any thumbnails that he uses.
@davidgold5961 Using sexual provocation to lure young men to a self improvement channel is an embarrassing contradiction in and of itself.
Well, in this case, it's quite on theme. The photo in the middle is of my friend from Paris. It's not designed to be sexually provocative.
To be fair,he credited her in a community post I think plus it's within the theme of the b
