We show you how to target, safely handle and return Sharks. On this trip we tag some sharks for NOAA. Here is the info to their site - www.fisheries.noaa.gov/resour...

I am very proud to have been selected as one of the few skippers to join the collaborative tagging project in the U.K. this year. The information gathered by such groups is invaluable for the protection of vulnerable species in our waters. 👍🏻🦈
Congratulations. There's no one more suited to the task. No one who cares more.
41772 was a beautiful shark!
And well deserved John
Wonderful days fishing
Have you ever caught a shark with a tag in? I like a sunday video. From sunny lymington
Two blokes together, out on a boat handling each others "Pollocks", lol John.Great Sunday night vid, cheers!
Don’t make this weird. 🤣
Congrats on being selected! They certainly picked the right person!
Thank you Becky.
There's a reason John is the number one fishing channel on RUclips.... He actually knows what he is talking about and doing...a hive of knowledge and easy to watch and a bloody good narrator... I can't watch anyone else they just p#ss me off
Thank you very much sir.
@@TheFishLocker no thank you... Much appreciated
Congratulations on the selection JL, you’re a great ambassador for our sport.
Thanks mate.
Yay! You are back in the lovely waters of our land. Wonderful video John!
Thanks Daryl.
I second that statement daryl
Great watching you and Chris catching blue dogs. I find the blue sharks the most beautyfull of all the shark species one can catch on rod and reel.
Also loved the screeming of the reel when the fish took off. So great to see you and yours back in "home" waters.
Greetz from Stipo from Holland
There are more Florida videos to come just need editing. I prioritised this one as it is the start of the season and the tagging project. 😉🦈
Congratulations!I saw you tagging while you were in the Keys!I tell, you ,that scared the heck out of me😉Love what you do and how you do it!
Haha. If that worried you. We have a video coming up that’s going to give you nightmares!!!
Thanks for the video. Well done Chris, your footage was awesome. Beautiful sharks, beautiful sea. Have a wonderful week.
Thank you.
Fantastic video, great to watch with a lot of information and knowledge passed on in a great way throughout the presentation.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I hope it is helpful to folks.
Very good John and Chris - really enjoyed that one and well done for doing some essential tagging work.
Thanks Chris
Awesome content as usual FishLocker team.
Great to hear about your selection, keep up the great work 👍
Thank you David.
Great video. Thank you for letting us see what you do to help our ecosystem. Your videos are very calming and wonderful scenery!
It is our pleasure Rose. Have a wonderful day. 😊🦈
Congratulations on being selected, and rightly so. Another great video. My wife and I I love your content and although she doesn’t fish, she absolutely loves that you take time out to explain where, why what and do so in detail. Sh also loves that you believe in sustainability and humane dispatch where necessary. Keep it going big fella. Awesome.
Alberta, Canada. Ex Yorkshire!👍🎣
I am glad that you can both enjoy the videos. Have a great week. 🦈🎣
Cheers John, very exciting watch. Great that you're putting something back and helping with the conservation. Hats off to you mate!!
Thanks bud. Have you thought about giving Tope a try up your way?
@@TheFishLocker Tope and Stingers are on my list of targets buddy. Right now I'm targeting bass on lures from the shore. It's been tough but caught two small ones this evening, so things are on the up. 😎👌
Cracking video John and Chris , amazing blues , love the anticipation of when the reel goes off as to how big the shark will be ! some amazing beasts way out in the ocean bud , appreciate your efforts 👍🏼👍🏼

Any time Graham. All the best mate.
Excellent video tonight John, bodes well for the coming season.
I hope so.
I’ve been watching you since you began RUclips. I watch allot of anglers. You are the best out there in the Uk in my opinion. Your knowledge is unmatched. Great work mate.
Thank you very much George. I am glad you continue to enjoy the videos. 🦈👍🏻
Consistently excellent content. Loving this Chanel. Total respect and skill with the fish. Wow

Great video! Nice fish, that first one turned up quicker than expected!
He was after it wasn’t it!!!
Those Blue sharks are absolutely stunning John! Love it 👍🏻
Beautiful aren’t they.
Amazing fishing. Beautiful sharks. And I loved the way you handle them with such care. 👏👏👏👏👏
I’ve been fishing a long time and never heard of Blue Whiting.
Excellent video. Really entertaining and informative too.
Thank you. And tight lines. Regards Chris. 🐳👍
The blue whiting are a deepwater whiting species. 👍🏻
What a lovely looking fish the blue shark is. Great video once again John, Thankyou!!
Stunning aren’t they.
Well done guys another great video and so nice to see the sharks 😊😊
Thank you very much Dave
A very proud skipper and I'm really proud for you, it only reflects your dedication to the well-being of the fish you return the respect of the enviroment you show and the little things like the take 5 but a big impact and the big mindset. All without preaching it. Well done John. The video is not bad either
😉 ❤
Haha. Cheers Lee.
Great video as usual. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it Richard.
Well done on being selected, great video as usual 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thank you.
That's brilliant news about you being slected. But I would say that's down to you being a top class guy who really knows his stuff. It's so cool to see the sharks by the side off the boat mate. Briliant video john. All the best tight lines 🎣🎣🎣
Thank you very much mate. 🦈👍🏻
Fantastic show really enjoyed that the clutches on those fixed spools took some hammer didn't they . Thanks again for your shows I really enjoy them
Screaming with joy. 🤣🦈
Out for the long haul, first Blue was Jammy, great day in all, thanks for the video, makes my week.
The first one proved what I was saying perfectly. 🤣🦈
John's Shark fishing so it's summer at last !! Another great video !
It has finally arrived!!!
Thank you for the wonderfully pleasant and enjoyable content. You always make me smile and feel for a brief moment that there’s nothing wrong in the world ❤ Also.. CONGRATS 🎉
I am glad that we are able to bring you some peace. 🦈🎣
Another great video john well done again.
Cheers Phil.
Love the uk shark vids! Enjoyed the vid boys!
Thanks mate.
Well done great work, congratulations, and a great session, enjoyed that. 👍
Thank you.
Totally agree with comments below, only watch The Fish Locker these days, all others seem amateurish by comparison,Johns knowledge is far in advance of others and presented in a way that even those with little knowledge will be interested. Think it's time that TV production companies should be getting in contact with him. Tight lines all.
What I do here on RUclips is already better than TV. RUclips is interactive and on demand. 😉🦈
Very true. Best wishes.
Very nice work as usual... have to love those
Very good looking fish aren’t they.
Welcome home from Florida. Great days fishing. Combination of sport, bait and food. I love gurnard, one of the best eating fish.
Thanks Terry.
Thank you sir. I found your vid both informative and exiting.
Glad it was helpful Alan. Best wishes to you and your family. 👍🏻🦈
This has become my Sunday night like when I was kid. Heartbeat then London burning. But now it’s Asheville weekly and the fishlocker!
Every Sunday without fail. 💪🏻🎣
once again you make it look easy ...nice 1 mate
Haha. I’m glad it looks easy.
Ha! That one you hooked as you had just dropped the bait was a bit of a result 😊 not a bad start to a good session for you both.👍
Just proved what I was saying.
Love the way you hand fed the bait to the shark... 👌👌👌🎣🎣🎣
Haha. That was a cool one. 🦈
Yet another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it and have a great day.
Congratulations on being selected John well deserved 👏
Thank you.
Great sport, great for conservation, well done guys 👏👏🦈
Thank you Stuart.
fair play love this channel well done John
Thank you.
awsome video John🎣
Cheers bud 👍🏻🦈
Watched your sharking/rig videos and decided to give it a crack this week.
Went about 10NM offshore (my boat does about 6 knots so had to compromise a bit on the depth of water I could achieve). Had a slow drift (0.25-0.5knots) which wasn’t ideal. But after 3 hours wait one of the reels started screaming, then after a 30 minute fight my brother brought in a Blue of about 90lbs (his first double figure fish). We were both ecstatic.
Then had a 2 1/2 hour steam against a force 4 back to the boats mooring, got in at 2215. Thank you for the help - a day to remember.
Fantastic to hear that you got the fish and that the videos were helpful. Well done. 👍🏻🦈
@@TheFishLocker they certainly were! We’ll get back out there soon. Will put a third bait directly under the boat the next time too 😁thanks.
Congrats on being selected. Great video .
Thank you.
Real good shark fishing John that's 1 I'd love to catch is the blue shark great looking sport very interesting well done tight lines happy fishing bud 👍😎🎣🐟🐟🐟🦈🦈🦈
Thanks mate
Good stuff mate 🎣 nice vid 👍
Glad you enjoyed joining us mate.
"Guess they just like it a bit rough." 🤣 But seriously, I learn from every video of yours that I watch, and your enthusiasm is contagious!
I mean if we’re honest. We all like it a little rough. 🤣🦈
@@TheFishLocker 😏 You made me blush!
absolute professional great to see
Just sharing what we love doing Mickey. Simple and honest. 😊👍🏻
Love watching honest to buggary good people thanks for the Video.
Just sharing what we know and love doing Grant. Simple and honest. No fuss and no B/S. 😊🦈
That first hookup was sick!
That’s why you don’t hold the wire in your hand as you’re dropping the baits over the side. 😉
Congrats on getting picked no one better for it than you ❤❤
Thank you very much.
James will be happy with the gurnard for his dinner 👏👏
He’s was a very happy man.
Have watched yuo for sme time, really enjoyed this vid, very interesting.
Thanks Fred.
Love and peace tight lines, Excellent video ,thank you sir,
Great video..thanks!⚓
Glad you liked it Stu.
Thanks John and well done too !
Our pleasure Mick.
You know what, I was feeling properly chuffed about catching my first keeper bass off llandudno and now you pop up posting this shark bonanza? Not right at all 😂
Quality video, chief. Always wanted to get a crack at those blues. Send them up the north west will you?
Well done on the bass mate. 👍🏻🎣
@@TheFishLocker cheers! Nice work on those big blues 👏
That Chris geezer looks like he’s a pro 😅
Too cool for school that cat.
Awesome again John good looking sharks, the UK seagulls must b smarter than Aussie gulls as I have seen a good few taken by sharks. Happy catching from Australia Nick
Or your sharks are smarter?
Those sensory spots on a shark nose are called the ampullae of lorenzene if ive spelled it right
Haha. Lorenzini. 😉🦈
Great video, enjoyed it 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you 👍
@TheFishLocker come on you are a super star 🌟
Only you would manage to see a sunfish while pouting bashing. Great as always.
Haha. Right place right time.
Any lives coming up? Love your content I don’t do much RUclips but watch all your amazing vids. Lovely family too. Much respect from North Wales 🏴
We aren’t likely to do any lives right now mate.
Fantastic mate 😊
Thank you Henry. 🦈
Great video as always. Keep up the good work with the tagging. Any more footage to come from the Florida trip?
Yes Leon. Plenty more in the editing room.
@@TheFishLocker ❤
Another great video John. Don’t think I’ll be sharking on the kayak 😂
Haha. Why not?
@@TheFishLocker I am not nearly tidy enough 😂 that said, I did head out with Joe from catch and cook for tope on the kayak. I trip I would recommend if you haven’t already done it!
Glad you were selected John. Nobody else shows and explains what is being done and why like you. I have 2 questions to ask if I may. 1) You cut something on your line early in the video. What was it please. 2) You said you record the size etc. of the sharks on the card, but never saw you actually measure or weigh them, so is it with your experience that you can estimate their length and weight.
Can't wait for the 'nightmare' video.
Thanks,
Barry from Essex
Yes I cut the float stop. And yes, the scientists have agreed that we have sufficient experience to be able to accurately estimate weight/size - when compared with the welfare of unhooking in the water or bringing aboard.
a good day to be out on the boat 👍👍 and i do it again🙂
That was a cracker of a Tope you had mate. Well done. 👍🏻🦈
lovin the bennie i got from you bro!!!!
Brilliant. 👍🏻🎣
Hi John! Greetings from Texas.
Greetings. 😊🦈
I agree gurnard are tasty feast. Have you tried them smoked delicious !!!
No I haven’t. But I imagine they are wonderful
Good looking. Fish. Fishing is my favorite sport. To. My fraind and I would fish fort Bragg. Harbor for the. Rock persh. Very good eating fish.
We enjoy fishing also. Have a great day
absolutely love watching your content John, always so educational. Would be great if OCEARCH invited you onto their upcoming European project as a guest!!
I would refuse it. Osearch have been banned from several countries because of their barbaric practices. Theyre a publicity group, not a conservation group.
@@TheFishLocker wow I didn’t know that, I’ve donated to them a few times thinking they were doing good work for shark conservation. Would appreciate a link to any more information or other alternative shark conservation organisations. As a PADI diver our seas need all the help they can get
Just done some googling and that’s terrible. Not conservation at all 😳
@@Benbo217 - You could reach out to the cooperative shark tagging trust and NOAA or the Pat Smith Database in the U.K.
I enjoyed this VERY much ... Thks
My pleasure. 😊🦈

Well done lads! Another quality video. John, i was wondering what sunglasses you use? I lost my last decent set..
I have some Penn ones but my favourites are a pair of calcuttas
Nice to see the sharks back, I'll see you at the shark comp hopefully. I'm going to try with rainbow trout flappers this year, also made up some chum using heads and guts.I like the sidewinder hoody Chris is wearing is it available commercially?
I don’t know, possibly contact sidewinder about it on fb?
Forget my last !! exactly that was answered in the next cut of the film.
Asked and answered. 😉🦈
great content / channel wow amazing day
Thank you very much John, take care mate.
Blue Sharks are really beautiful!
They truly are.
Great video John
Great shark fishing what sort of weight was that biggest one you had John.
Cheers John
See you on the next one.
Thank you very much. I cannot remember how big it was sorry.
Congratulations on being selected john, blue sharks are one of my favourites. I bet they are great fun bringing them in to tag. Im a new follower and relatively new to sea fishing, hoping to get a couple of beach caster rods, do you have any tutorial videos to do with beàch casting i could follow?
Hello George, there are some older videos where I discuss beach rods and reels
@@TheFishLocker thank you 😊
Lucozade bottles turn up everywhere. I'm sure one was found at the bottom of the Mariana Ttench😂😂😂
Haha. Really?
Nice one guys 👍
Might try a muppet for tope, doubt it would do any harm.
At least there would be a muppet on both ends of the rod.
@@TheFishLocker 🤣
Seeing you tagging has reminded me of the tagging of the Great Whites in the Bay of Biscay. Wonder how close the fish will get to UK waters ?
Not too close I hope. 🤣
I'm a Deck Head and I've got nice pollocks.
Is there anyone who can corroborate this?
😂
Ive seen u have used floats in the past but could never figure out how you clipped the line on to stop it ...i used float just with a scotty fishing clip attached to it spro do another line clip aswell but i think i found the ultimate for the bottles its screws onto the bottle and has a adjustable clip on it on the outside was only 3 left in stock in uk hoping the get out for blues meself and a few more porbeagles here in ireland might do a trip for the six gill at some stage have a mate had the on a 16ft orkney strikeliner down clare way said the fish was near as long as the boat
Be careful with those 6 gills
Looks like he tied the rods to the boat. Good thinking!
“Leashed” 😉🦈
Superb work fellas ,John as we know sharks are edible and very nice too eat are you allowed if you wish too can you keep any or are they all, protected species in British waters cheers John brilliant job as always.
Legally we are allowed but it’s more of a social unwritten rules in the U.K. that sharks are returned.
